Speaker 1 (00:00):
Round four is done and dusted. Of course North Melbourne
are still unbeaten, but we still have another two teams
that are potentially knocking on the door. Welcome to AFLW today.
I am your host, Alex Donelly, joined by two people
who are just happy that North Melbourne keep on winning
and winning and winning. Firstly, Jess Robertson, Hello.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Jess, Hello Alex. I feel like that's going to be
the intro every week.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
No, it's the unbeaten flag grews. Like, that's why they
are the unbeaten flag crews in power rankings. They will
never be unmoved until they eventually lose a game, which
I don't see happening in twenty twenty five and over there,
he came back from Japan over the weekend. He's like, no,
I'm not resting. My team has won more games in
the last season and a half than my men's team
in the last five combined, and I want to talk

(00:43):
about it. It's Lee mccally and the stats guy.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Absolutely, I've gone for a couple of weeks and North
just unbeen sixteen in a row. Absolutely up into out
AFIW and I'm keenan black and can I.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Just say Stats guy's rocking a bit of a bronze.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
Yeah, that's the first time in my whole life anyone
said that snuck into some fake tan accidentally. I don't know,
but I don't know about that one.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
You do look like you did get some color and
it was done. You've come back not any differently different culturally,
but the way and experience a different you know, I
guess time zone culture. Yeah, well done for you. Thank you.
That looked very muche. Check out stats guys Instagram. I
don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
I don't know what he's handling, but anyway, I'll fix that.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Before we get into this to have a chat about
Round four of the afl W. Make sure you do
subscribe to all of our social media channels. Follow afl

plus the men's program as well. Of course, we're deep
in the footy finals with the men's stuff. The boys
did a great show on Sunday morning, as well as
afl W Today on x, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok for
more footy content all season long. Make sure you follow

(01:44):
and leave a comment. Just getting around the comments. We're
having good fun at the moment. I put up a
video yesterday of cloone Malo's goal, which we'll talk about later,
and people, oh, it was not exciting. Please grow up.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
We're gonna have a big discussion actually about that. But
when you left, so just stay.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Tuned, okay, walk out of the room in the production
media continues. Let's get into the Round four results, and
let's get into it Saturday, Casey Fields, Nah, I'm the
Melbourne Demons eight nine fifty seven defeated Richmond two eight twenty.
Just before you get into this, I do not want
to hear O. Richmond tried hard. There's zip and four
and I'm done with them.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
Oh wow, yeah, you should have heard him last year.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
I continue to be done with them.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
I'm definitely not giving you. Oh, Richmond tried hard. Let's
just make note of how windy it was across the
whole weekend in Melbourne, extremely windy, actually everywhere everywhere in Perth,
in Sydney everywhere. Yes, so hence some of the schoollines.
But you know, anyway, same story, different day for the
Tigers unfortunately. And I'm not sure how much longer we

(02:39):
can talk about how great Manete Contie is and how
she needs some passengers to come with her.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Yep, yeah, I think Sheeron is a huge out. I
know that she wasn't at her all Australian level last
two seasons, but she's just absolute beast in the midfield
and then you've got mon contest to do a lot
on her own.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
It's tough. Was about to say Sheeron only just got
thrown in the midfield for the first time on the
weekend for North and cruise around and got twenties. If well,
there's no trouble it does go to Ellie McKenzie. Was
good in week one, hasn't been at those levels since.
But we did talk about this for Richmond coming back
from Darwin was going to be a tough ass too
after how hard that game was.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
Yeah, and I mean going up against Melbourne was going
to be a challenge for them as well. I think
what I did like to see from the Tigs is
that they're trying new things. And before we talk about
the d's, I just mentioned like Page Scott being thrown
into the midfield as second year player Isabelle Bacon, She's defender,

(03:33):
she was thrown forward. She kicked her first AFLW goal
so you can see that Richmond are just moving the
magnets a little bit. The defense did stand tall early
in stages. I'll just make note that the D's came
in hot, but the Tigers only conceided one goal from
I think fifteen inside fifties early, so that's a positive sign. Otherwise,
it was clinical from the D's to go for and

(03:57):
Katehure huge again again having a great season nineteen and
game for.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
Her having nineteen and two goals. Yeah, still, that's what
I mean, that's the level she's been at the start
of the season.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
She's been great. Tyler Hanks had a day out thirty
two touches herself and this is all without the impact
of Taylor Harris of course remained goalless. So the D's
they had seven different goal scorers, so they were having
a bit of fun. Just shows the depth there, but
also considering their opponent. Yeah they'll take the dub and

(04:32):
they sit second on the ladder, and yeah they've got
Port next week, so they can very well go five.
And oh that is that's a good seae.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Injuries are starting to creep up on them.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Though, I know, yes, absolutely, Defender may of Chaplain went
down and they've obviously had the acl to per Sell,
so that does hurt them. We'll see how they cope
and we'll see what the injury actually is from Chaplin.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
And next week Richmond have the Cats.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
Doesn't get much tougher for tyg.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
No, it doesn't at all. I'm a little bit. Yeah,
obviously you're very worried about Richmond. Is this just a
three build year because obviously we've got throwing around the magnets.
I think even the coaches are just gone, yeah, to
three build year. We're going to have to try different
players in different positions. I think Page Scott actually has
a future. I didn't mind so a few things that
she did was really good. But they're playing in the
wrong positions they're building. I think it's going to be

(05:20):
a rebuild year for the Tanks.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
And that's disappointing because at the start of the season
they were talking fine, I know, I know they'll probably
be zero and five coming into this week. It was
just that's not at all idea like they probably do
need to just start throwing some magnets against the warll gun. Okay,
what can we change up here to make it look
a little bit different? You put Katie Brennant's sent a
half back to try and lock down back there to
generate some ball movements. She's an excellent market and a

(05:43):
kick hopefully get some running carry going. But yeah, it
is four and er in Richmond. Oh boy, four yes
up to People's first stadium. Gold cost Sons get their
first win of the years seven ten fifty two to
GWS four nine thirty three. Well Gold Coast kick goal
with in the first thirty seconds. It really set the
tone for the game. Havana Harris is storming out on

(06:04):
the lead from the goal square after a great clearance.
It was impressive. What I liked about that was she
went back and she kicked the set shot. But then
it was the second goal that she kicked in this game.
There was a run and chase because the ball went
over the back in the forward fifty. She was probably
five or six meters behind. She used some body just
knocked the GWS opponent on in the ground, gave off
a great handball to Claudia Whitford who kicked the goal.

(06:25):
This is the type of thing I'm just gonna My
thing for Gold Coast this year is going to be
watching the rise of Havana Harris, who we talked about preseason,
got her rising star normal last week and then backs
it up again with another wonderful performance. I think you
can see Gold Coast they're trying some stuff, which is good.
Like they're a bottom four side and we know it.
They've won this game. They're going to try a lot

(06:46):
of things. They've got a lot of injuries, but you
can see the identity Resure is trying to bring. It's
basically what he was like as a player. Run and
carry and charge through the corridor.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
Yeah, I think you've got to do that. You've got
to be positive in AFI. I think we talked about
this last season as well when a few teams got
caught out for Ben at the very least Gold Coast.
They're going to be fun to watch in some games
and you got the Unicorn. She's living up to the name.
Havana Harris just dominating. I think her performance this week
was better than their rising star performce.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
So she's just getting better. Her team is way better
than yours. Two.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Yeah, that's not it's not hard to starts and yes,
she's living up in the Gold Coast. Finally, d up
in the Gold Coast.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
I'd look like that this is a good series for
reward for the Suns who have been chasing that first win.
Where does this leave GWS?

Speaker 1 (07:26):
Yeah, so this GWS, I don't think you're going to
get a better chance all year to come up against
the team. No, Charlie Robottom, that's on a similar level
of them on the ladder because we saw all the
injuries that gold Coast do have, namely with Charlie Robottom
and a few others who aren't even playing this year
at all. With the changes Reshores made, he's been dropping
key players as well. Throughout the year. Gold Coast have

(07:48):
given up one hundred points in back to back weeks.
GWS have a chance to turn up, put the you know,
put the foot in the ground and really stamp some
authority on this game because preseason they were talking finals
and they're now zero and four. Yeah, you sort of
have a look at them. I did a deep dive
on them this morning. What is their identity? We talked

(08:09):
about what the Sun's brand and identity is going to be.
They're not going to be good for the next few years,
but they've got a lot of academy kids coming through
and they're going to be a really good team in
two or three years. GWS, they've won twenty five games
in ten years. You have a look at the players
that have left in the last three four years, who
have all gone to other clubs and improved somehow. They're

(08:32):
not They're the only team that hasn't nailed their first
round draft pick this year as well. Look at the
draft from last year. Unfortunately for GWS it has it's
four games.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
We don't know that.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
Yeah, but when you see what's ash CenTra, Havana Harris,
what they've done to start this season, Licia Painter's it's hard.
I need this club to have an identity and a
brand because right now it's like, oh, we're just going
to get in there, We're going to get in a scrap.
We're going to hope for the best. I'm not forgiving
them for their effort in the last quarter where they

(09:01):
kicked a few goals. This game was over when the
Suns kicked four goals in the third quarter, and I
want to do highlight the Sun's effort in the clearances.
They won the clearances twenty seven to ten throughout the day,
absolutely dominant, like Neve McLaughlin. Her goal on the second
quarter was fantastic, some fast feet step inside. It was
a great finish on their run. So this is a
great day for the Suns because they're not going to

(09:22):
win many games this year. Saturday was a great day
for them as a club.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
I've some confidence in a few other game as well.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
First game for the year winning as the w program. Ye,
the men win their first ever finals, So it was
a great day.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
But old they all go out after.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
I'm assuming they are all the burly pava the best
time ever and the men that will they'll just be
on the soft drinks. They're taking it easy, definitely.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
But yeah, so what are we doing with GW were
sort of going forward. It's a tough couple of weeks
coming up for them too.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
Yeah, I'm a bit worried about it because, like you said,
I think the recruiting and things, like some of their
older players that are all there, but the last like
four years, their older sort of players have been their
better players.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
Ali Morphitt left them.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
Yeah, there's people that are leaving.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
The biggest one that stands out, So I'm a little
bit worried about them.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
I just want to see even if they got a
lot closer in this game, because you said it was
a few late goals, Yeah, if they got a lot
closer to go all right, follows junk time, junk time
and things like that. So I just wanted to get
just being games a bit more rather than just finished strong.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Like I would love to see them just do like
a mid season review, maybe change a few think just
in there, maybe Alex because it's very passionate.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
Like and this is also like, Okay, I'm whacking them
with their on field effort because in fairness, their list,
their list identity isn't great and they've got a lot
of injuries at the moment too, So.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
Yeah, it doesn't help.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Living in the West of Sydney is very tough. When
you've got the SWANSA is an option, and you have
an option to go to Sydney. You are not going
to go to g W West until there are some
concessions as far as salary cap and draft concessions are concerned.
I think the Giants will continue to struggle.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
They've got a better team song. That's what, that's that's what,
that's all. That's probably got golf, big, big sound.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
I enjoyed the big, big sound. But it's a big,
big nothing.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
We haven't heard it, that's true.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
I can't park continue there, just charge up the light
of this season. Seven nine defeating the Western Bulldogs fort
nine thirty three. This was a fun game.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
It was very exciting to watch. And I've said this
last week, but the Blues are getting like they're building
confidence and you can see that again in this game
against the Dogs. They're just getting better and better as
each week goes by, which is really exciting. Before we
dig into the Blues though, I will say like despite
the loss, it was probably the Dog's best season outing

(11:30):
I'd say so far.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
Yeh.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
They looked like they were they were they were going
with the Blues for a lot of the game until
the Carlton just you know, blew it open a little bit.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
The same high score of the year for captain.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Yeah. Yeah, that was great Dogs as well, Yes, improving
as well.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
Yeah. So they both teams had some good passages, had
some like really impressive chain plays that they just like
both teams lacked the final polish just to secure the goal,
which is disappointing. But you can see the potential there
and see how exciting it is, how fun is watching
Sophie McKay.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
Happy every after the interview. She's so excited to get interviewed,
she's so excited to tackle someone, and she's so excited
to kick. Like everything about her.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
Talking on the field or on the on TikTok because
either way they both supremely entertaining.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
Go check out. I'm pretty sure a TikTok is with
her sister.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
They do everything they do it, they do a pregame vibes,
they do something that they eat after the game, like
it is the new age of the footballer. And I
think what they're doing just themselves plus a few others,
like we can talk about Matilda Shelter, but what they're
doing just on on the internet as well, it will
start dragging new fans in because they're having fun showing

(12:48):
their personality. The letting people in probably get them a
bit more.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
I you just said the Internet, Yeah, the Internet, Google
kids you.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
Yeahlin on the line.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
But Sophie was great, very much involved. She had a
huge second quarter mark which was awesome, like real contested mark.
She kicked both of the blues first two goals of
the game, so she was super pumped. But for the Dogs,
edmund ruck turned forward, strong in the air, good presence
for them, which I like to see. They did have
their defense cut out for them. Brittany, I do want

(13:26):
to pronounce her name, but I'm not sure if I
can get it right. So if anyone knows good neck.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
I think that's right.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
Yeah, you're so cultured now.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
I don't think she's.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
So apologies in advanced if that was incorrect. But she
had twenty three touches in the back line eighty three
percent disposal efficiency though, so that was a positive sign
for the Dogs. But for the Blues, they just put
the game away. Ran with the momentum. They were snapping
goals from everywhere coming out of the contest and stuff
like super fun to watch. Dana Finn again had a

(14:01):
really strong performance out of the midfield. Thirty one disposal,
four tackles and five clearances. Super impressive. Ali Blackburn had
a piece of magic for the Dogs. So really good
sign for them when Ellie is up and performing. But
the Blues go three and one and they're improving week
on week. They've got the Suns next week, so very winnable,
so they could be four one sitting in that you know,

(14:24):
mid tier eight in the eighth, so what are they
fifth at the moment, So.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
They'll be sitting there because what we've got four unbeaten teams.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
Yeah, so they're doing pretty well. Only just our note
for them was the injury to Yazda as much.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
Yeah, yeah, that is she looked in a lot of
path Yes, that.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
Was really unfortunate for them, But otherwise the Blues it
was great.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
Yeah, absolutely great of it.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
And the Dogs they've got GWS at manic Ar Oval
next weekend, so that is a definitely winnable game for
the Dogs. Let's remember last year GWS absolutely pounded.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
Them in round one as well, so hopefully GWS can
take some confidence.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
Yeah I need to do is just look back at
that tape from last year. But the Dogs, they'll be
going there with some confidence. Yes, stats guy, because Ailey
Stadium on Saturday night up in cans Hawthorne five ten
forty defeated Eurorogue two five seventeen. That of course been
se killed. First of all, I just do need to
say the timing of this game was so dumb, having

(15:20):
it on at the exact same time as a men's final. Yeah,
I was not conducive to viewership or crowd number.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
I was thinking the same thing. I didn't mind it
because at first I was like, oh, it's art, it's
going to be after but it was still on the
men's game. And I know that the fixtures that you
don't know if the Hawk's going to make the finals
in the man.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
What I mean is you always know, you always know
that a final is going to be on on the
Saturday night.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
Yeah, they need to definitely adjust it to the to
the men's finals, but that's okay.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
Did you say they played in Cans.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
Yeah, because a stadium.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
Yeah, for the Indigenous round.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
I think yeah, they played up there last year as well.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
Anyway, the Hawks, yeah, awesome when they had no Gilroy,
no Fleming, no Ashmore and what is.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
Going on with ailing Euro's hamstring? That has to be
a one week I know it's been four.

Speaker 3 (16:02):
I feel like because they just keep winning, they're like,
I'll just rest her, maybe because they don't really I
know she's one of your favorite players, Alex, but yeah,
they keep winning without some of their star players. And
as you mentioned, awesome day for Hawks fans. Three of
three for the club. So you had a Saturday win
with the VFL goal after the siren when they kick
nine goals in a row. AFL won in a big
final and then a big win for the women.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
They go four and oh.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
So as a Hawks fan, Leo check out AFL today.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
He can go home.

Speaker 3 (16:24):
I don't think I've way, So the Hawks fans are
up and about. I want to start on a huge
bounce back game for Eliza Wests. She was pretty much
tagged last week for multiple parts of the game, only
had nine touches in the game last week. Then she
goes absolutely bang this week. Twenty seven disposals, eight clearance is,
six tackles and a goal. So that was just an
awesome bounce back. And then you got on your mcdonnaugh

(16:46):
set up a confidence boosting first, I was very low scoring.
She got two goals in the second, so then they
head into half time going oh, we actually know what
we're doing. Is so they actually got a lot of
confidence from that. And you've got Body's elite check side
started the third quarter up.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
She can just kick.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
She might not do too many things during the game,
but when she does do something, it's either a big
pack mark, a check side goal, or something like that,
which is what you want to see.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
You always need some of those players. Yeah, just like
the spark player.

Speaker 1 (17:07):
Yeah, she's the barometer a little bit for the Yeah,
your low touch players impact with every one of them
beat five or six touches.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
Yeah. I think she had like eleven touches and at
least three score in volments and then a goal, which
is absolutely awesome. Oh you touch on this one. The
Hawks in their four games, I really like this one.
Across their four game, not in a row, but they've
had two goals, three goals, four goals, and five goals
and they're four and so whatever they're doing is just
working at the moment. It's so it's weird. So next week,
are they're going to get six months? Well that's it.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
If we're going by that, or they're going to kick one.

Speaker 3 (17:36):
Or they're going to kick the max is fine exercise. Yeah,
But on this the Hawks have been a lot more
defensive this year, So I just want to touch on that.
I want to see them play a bit more attacking
and find that accuracy again. Obviously Jess said it was
a bit windy on the weekend. Last season, they were
the second best offense behind North fourth in goal accuracy
and now they're thirteenth on offense and seventeenth in goal accuracy.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
The hell is worse than them?

Speaker 3 (17:58):
I honestly can't remember. It might actually I'll follow. I
know there four and are we worried about their offense?
I just want to ask you, guys, or just because
they're finding ways to win it doesn't matter, you.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
Know, I'm worried.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
Yeah when they come.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
They've got Adelaide this weekend. Yeah, if you've got to
kick a score to beat Adelaide, you're not going to
win with five goals and it's going to be Frankston.
So actually you might win with five goals, but in
a big final against some of these teams that are
putting on scores for fun at the moment, having your
top goal scoring game as five goals, yes, forty is
a massive concern. Yes, winning, but when you get to

(18:34):
finals games, this is going to be a concern. You
look at you look at the weekend in the men's
the teams with the lowest percentage were the ones that
were knocked out?

Speaker 3 (18:43):
Would you agree?

Speaker 2 (18:43):
Just yeah, we've spoken about this the last couple of weeks. Well,
just Hawthorne's forward line and where is it? So yeah,
that's definitely something that that would be looking at.

Speaker 1 (18:53):
It's that mid forard connection. I talked about it last
year with the Swans. The good thing, for one is
they're winning games, weren't. Their delivery and options going forward
aren't great, which isn't helping because once they get it
forward there, oh what are we doing? It's just it's
a miskick here, it's a miskicka. Once those things eventually
che like you know, work themselves out, which you do
throughout the season, they're going to start scoring. Yeah, good

(19:15):
thing is therefore and no, I.

Speaker 3 (19:16):
Think, yeah, therefore, and so they won't be too fo
you exactly. And I think they have the talent there.
They they average I think eight goals a game or
seven point eight goals a game last year, So they
have the talent there, especially if Gilroy comes back in
soon hopefully so they will help their goals. But that's
just one to keep an eye on.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
As you guys said together.

Speaker 3 (19:32):
The next couple of weeks, the Saints actually won the
clearance of this one, won the tackle count by a
huge twenty one and add twenty three tackles inside fifty
Usually you go that's a massive tick. Or did they
get the win. No, they got smoked. So I'm really
worried about their offense because their endeavor and they're tackling
pressure and their their defense was actually pretty solid. But
then you go down the other end and then it's
not getting it in their forward line enough.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
They haven't been getting the like yes, they won in
the first round, they haven't been getting the footy into
their forward line enough as it is. I know they've
been out of it. But then last week against they
get run over the top light. They were never a
chance here and they got They got smacked by Melbourne
at CAZy Fields as well, with just a massive negative
differential across all facets of the game. So yeah, they
beat Adelaide.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
Yeah, that's the thing I want.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
To seems like a fluke performance. And also Adelaide but
you know, had Chelsea Randall and stuff out in that
first game and stuff, so and.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
They look very sluggish in that game.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
Yeah, I think Adelaide just must have started out the
gates a bit slower. Yeah they did.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
Yeah, Yeah, disappointing for the Saints, but yeah, hawks are
flying us.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
Hawks are flying. And I just wanted to touch on
Tianna Smith, our friend of the show she was a
real leader for them just in her is it second.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
Third year, thirty thirty, I was putting their best in fairs.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
Oh she's awesome. Twenty two disposals, twelve tackles and a goal.
Literally I could see her both ends of the I
think she was the only Saints player that was sort
of at the both ends of the ground kicking a
goal of putting tackling pressure. So shout out to her.
So she's been really good. But as you said, I
can't believe that that Saints, that same Saints team beat Adelaide.
So they need to just find whatever they did in
that first round, just to find a little bit more offense.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
And then when do we start getting more concerned about
the Saints though?

Speaker 1 (21:01):
If they lose to on Sunday Windy Hill, if they're
one and four, I think, yeah, that's when the real
concerns come out for them. Let's get across with the
games on Sunday. Starting off at Henson Park, Sydney, Swan's
nine ete sixty two defeated Wall. You're up five seven
thirty seven. Firstly, first game at Henson Park all year.
How good did the hill look? Forty eight hundred people

(21:21):
on the hill. I suppose I'm going I had some
other work to do yesterday. I will be there for
the Pride game against Cuts in the year flying up
and back. My favorite part of this other than the game,
was Brett Kirk coming from behind Mickey I Lachlan putting
him in a headlock before the game.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
Why did it?

Speaker 1 (21:38):
It's Brett Kirk. He was just doing Brett Kirk. He
saw Mickey Oh, one of his great mates from the
O five flag, and just decided to put him in
a headlock. On the screen, I found clipping. Yeah, I
got to try and find it somewhere, I reckon I
could Where else do we start this with the goal
of the year, goal of the century, the greatest goal
kicked in aflwll.

Speaker 3 (21:59):
You go j I don't know.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
Chloe Malloy, Yeah, it was awesome.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
It was It was absolutely fantastic.

Speaker 1 (22:04):
You can't split the Gulls from there. There was no
way angle.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
But I want to just bring a different kind of thought.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
Yeah, was it a fluke, yes, she said after the game.
She meant it with the way that Malloy iron I
kicked four goals in the game, I'm going to go Yeah,
I meant it. I think she was. I loved her
smarts to like, at least cross it in because players
were trying to pick it up and then go out
of bound kick it.

Speaker 1 (22:26):
With the outside of the boot. On the phone. It
wasn't just a flat crack. Watch the angle where the
foot is when she kicks.

Speaker 3 (22:31):
Zoom in on the on the footage. It was a
buddy awesome guy and could probably she's just won fifty grand.
It's probably gone. But I don't know if she meant it.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
I was just going to say that I think I
liked that goal.

Speaker 1 (22:43):
I still like Cynthia Hamilton's triple candy cell.

Speaker 3 (22:45):
Yes, I agree with that one.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
Cynthia Hamilton also sold candy on the first goal that
she kicked in this game too, So whatever you do
when you're watching Cynthia Hamilton, she's going to step inside. Yes,
she done it so many times this year. But I think, yeah,
fifty grands coming. Chloe Malloy his way and Cynthia Hamilton
may ask for tenpence and you can you split it.
Maybe once it lends in your bank account you can
do it. I would know if it's taxed, like is

(23:08):
it just a flat like a you know, prize money
thing or do you have to get taxed on that?

Speaker 2 (23:12):
I think it's a prize money thing.

Speaker 1 (23:13):
These are the questions asked. The more important to get
two million velocity points?

Speaker 3 (23:17):
That's better.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
It's definitely more important to you.

Speaker 1 (23:19):
Yeahs always flights, not feelings people.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
But what I just want to say is that, like,
how awesome is that we have all of these goal
of the year contenders to.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
Four rounds, We've got like five year contenders. Can well,
I feel like there's a lot more this year.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
There was a goal kicked in the Brisbane and a
Kawana game that will get too late. We haven't even
mentioned Zippy fish is running banana for her first ever
goal in NFLW I thick like it was great. Of course,
how else would Zippy Fish kick her first goal? Was
never going to be a simple drop punt running banana
to put the Swans in front. But this for the Swans,
like Laura Gardner, was brilliant. She had thirty five touches,

(23:56):
a lot of clearances. She was ever her disposal efficiency
was down, but you look else where. Chlaoie Lloyd didn't
get a lot of the footy. Kicked two goals. Zippy
Fish was absolutely nowhere all day, still manages to pop
up kick a goal. She did set up another, but
this win for the Swans was set up on the
back of Tanya Kennedy, who was absolutely phenomenal, laying tackles,
cracking in all day. Lucy McAvoy had one of her

(24:18):
better games in a long while as well. She took
a lot of good marks. Needs the kicking boots though
she kicked zero goals seven this year. Oh really, yeah,
really need to type them up.

Speaker 3 (24:26):
So once she gets that working, like the Swans will
just click in a big celebration when she But she
kicks the first game.

Speaker 1 (24:32):
Yeah, I've got a video loaded up ready to go
of what her goal song would be, so we can
put that out. Cynthia Hamilton again, fantastic kick, two goals three,
could have had a humongous days again sold the candy
on her goal. I think Montana ham We've talked about
her week on week this season, but like she's putting
together a catalog of a season. She kicked a couple
of goals. She was brilliant, but just she could have

(24:55):
kicked four on the day as well. But the tackling
pressure that she bought. The clearance work that she bought.
You can tell that she's just bigger and stronger, like
looking on the field at the moment. Yeah, the pressure
from the Swans is what set this apart. Like the
free kick count was absurdly stupid, it was ridiculous. But
the Swan's got sixteen holding the ball free kicks. That's
how strong their defensive tackling pressure was all day. Like,

(25:17):
you cannot take that extra step against the Swans because
they are going to be all over you.

Speaker 3 (25:22):
Like for free.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
We talked about last week that they had one hundred
put on them two weeks in a row, and we
need to see a bounce back. They kicked three of
the first four goals, that's what I mean. They started
it brilliantly, but what their biggest issue has been, it's
a four quarter effort. They were nowhere to be seen
in the second half.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
Yep, that's really disappointing and they would be just super
disappointed with themselves.

Speaker 1 (25:44):
But yeah, Mimestrom, Oh, she was brilliant, Like she will
get a vote for this game for sure, Like she
had eleven clearances, twenty odd disposals. She took the points
over Alli Morphoro on the day and the reckon was
good to see because I think we needed a big
mimstrong performance as well. The Swans kill this game in
the third quarter. They kicked three goals in thirty eight seconds.
It was insane from the time the ball went through

(26:05):
the first goal to the time the third goal went through.
I think it was when Cynthia Hamilton kicked a second
thirty eight seconds, I didn't even get to ride in
the little book, but by the time the third one, yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
It was.

Speaker 1 (26:16):
It came on the back of what I've noticed with
the Swans throughout the year. It's a lot of running
in waves. It's not just one group at the same time.
It's the first couple will go then the next few
will go through, and it's run and carrying handble and
just forward pressure and go for all time. I think
that's been a highlight of Scott Gowns since this one's
come into the competition. It's like, we're just going to
run and carry all at all chances that we get

(26:37):
for this game, and we'll talk about it. So three
all one and three they're in some trouble. This is
a team that played finals last year. We need to
see something in the next few weeks or their season
is definitely over.

Speaker 3 (26:50):
Yeah. Absolutely, At this.

Speaker 2 (26:51):
Point, I don't know what we're going to see unless
I have a massive switch in the coming games.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
Said, yeah, they need to play more than two and
a half quarters in a game.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
If it continues the way it's been. Yeah, well, yeah,
they're going to be well below their expectations.

Speaker 1 (27:07):
And the Swan's that they're now four and they've won
four games and are over the first time in their history,
first time they started four and no big thing is
they have not played a full game of football yet.
They keep starting these games slow. They'll have a ten
minute burst while they'll blow fit.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
Though, which is good because you finished is strong exacts
which I was going to touch.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
Yeah, And most importantly an interview that is getting recorded
on Tuesday night with True Bloods and afl W today.
It's a collaboration with myself and Polly. We are interviewing
Sydney Swan's coach Scott Gowan's ahead of the game against
Collingwood at this Saturday Victoria Park. If you remember of this,
True Bloods Faithful must get to Victoria Park this weekend
one O five on Saturday afternoon, but that interview will

(27:45):
be up on True Bloods and afl W Today platforms.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
You want it. I want to talk about this plant.
I want to talk about this work.

Speaker 1 (27:52):
I've giving myself about a twenty five minute maxim with
the Sydney Media manager. But thank you.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
Actually you like let Polly have a chat as well.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
Yeah, I tell you what I could be. I could
be friend of friend of ours and friend of the
show Code Sports own Lockie McCurdy. Yes, he was the
only one who went to the pregame media sessionally thirteen
minutes of one on one time with Scott and Lockey
before the game. It's pretty good. We've got food, We've
got food recommendations for Henson Park.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
Great, so go check out out Press.

Speaker 3 (28:18):
I like that stats guy.

Speaker 2 (28:20):
You take over Norwood Oval Game of the rounder.

Speaker 1 (28:22):
You know what over you want to read out the
scores for Kawana the Adelaide Crows six to thirty eight,
beaten again by the Brisbane Lions, who I'm zero and
four on tipping them this season sixty one.

Speaker 3 (28:34):
Oh, I need to stop tipping on. I think I'm
the same against them. I don't know if the lines
they beat their Bunnies. They never lose. They hardly ever
lose to the Adelaide Crows. That's seven straight wins over
the Crows, which is unbelievable when you're yeah, one around
one twenty twenty two. There you go, thank you, But
where you see both those teams are always right up
there and you go, oh, they're two of the best
teams of all time. But the Crows just don't know

(28:54):
how to beat Adelaide. Adlaid were actually up by seventeen
points at three quarter time. They're like, oh, I finally
got a and then we've.

Speaker 1 (29:01):
Done it again.

Speaker 3 (29:01):
They've absolutely choked. It was an awesome match, was a nail.
Body had a goal of the Year contender from Alloy's Jones.
So it'll be interesting to see against all the week against.

Speaker 1 (29:09):
I was about to say, the hardest thing is finding
three goals. Yeah, three, Like we know what two of
them are. Yeah, what's the third? Is it Zippy Fish's snap?
Is it McCarthy We didn't talk about in the previous game.
Ash McCarthy's snap the dead set turned at a right
angle to go through. There's many other goals throughout the week. Yeah,
Chrisparcas's long bomb, like we can talk about a goal
of the year. Continue were just in it.

Speaker 3 (29:29):
Every game is absolutely and the tackling pressure was really
it felt like a final, especially in the last quarter.
It was very intense. There wasn't too many goals, but
it was just really really intense, and then the lines
just came back and just dominated.

Speaker 1 (29:39):
Which was really good.

Speaker 3 (29:40):
A bit controversial, though a bit controversial obviously I want
to talk about Charlott Mullins had a really elite snap goal,
but Alex especially what the free kicks you got and
Adelaide I don't always like talking about the umpires, but
they got very done by and a lot of the
Men's afold fans as well would be crying because they
hate they hate the umpires and the men and now
they probably.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
Not like I'm not, yeah, this has nothing to do
with the men's but that was just not a free
kick to mine. Got tackled around the solar plexus, which
wasn't higher above the shoulder, right right there, right on
your stern and it was a great clean tackle and
even in the slow mo and when the freeze frames,
not once was it over the shoulder. The umpire who

(30:21):
was standing five meters away from it has just completely
screwed the pooch there calling that high if it was
like you saw mullins'sactions, Oh sweet, it's a free kick.
Adelaide fans have every right to feel robbed this morning.
I think they were absolutely stitched up because Brisbane had
been gifted two goals and it's cost Adelaide the game.

Speaker 3 (30:41):
But yeah, I know I would agree with that. They're
really really hard done by, but I don't know they
still in that last bit they could have got a
few more goals.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
What about the downfield free kick to Campbell. She was
on one foot, already off balance and she just sort
of got helped along the way. It wasn't a moment,
it was so bad. Yeah, it's going to have been
gifted a lot of soft in the goal square this week.

Speaker 3 (31:01):
Oh in the men's Oh yes. Talking about Brisbane Courtney Holder,
I thought she was really really good two goals, talking
about another player that just has that impact off I
think she had about ten touches as well, even put
an umpiring hat on. I don't know if you guys
saw this. There was the umpires called a rush behind,
but it clearly came off someone's foot and went out
of bounds on the floor and she goes, now, can
we just check that? So I don't know. They just

(31:22):
listened to her and said, all right, you can be
the umpire right now, Courtney, and and she was correct.
The ball came straight off and went out on the
floor and someone's foot. Then she just does a snap
from the boundary and scores a goal. So she's just
absolutely awesome and one of the best players to watch.
I thought it was a vintage performance from Chelsea Randall,
and then I just chucked in, if your last name's
Randall in AFIW, then you just got sticky hands. You've
got Tylier Randall at North and just and then you

(31:42):
got Chelsea rand was just taking absolutely awesome marks.

Speaker 1 (31:44):
She did it all.

Speaker 3 (31:45):
She had two goals, fort in disposals, eight tackles and
that is exactly what you want from it.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
Can I put out my weird thing I found out
about this game? We found out just watching it. Yeah,
do you think they made the grass during the week?
It looked long, It looked long. It looked long.

Speaker 3 (31:56):
Maybe it was a tactic like the old who was it?
Stoke City?

Speaker 1 (31:59):
Yeah, family, cold Thursday and Stoke. It was a warm
Sunday and Adelaide. Though maybe it looked long.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
You always noticed the weirdest things, Like I was watching
the game, I'm not looking at the like the grass
when Chelsea Randall took one of the diving marks and
it was just they had this close up and then
it just looks she disappeared like Homer into the.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
I didn't catch my eye, but I love that it
caught you.

Speaker 3 (32:23):
You either think about the colors, the food or now
the grass.

Speaker 1 (32:26):
We didn't even talk about the bad kit matchup in
GWS and Hawthorne on Sun on Saturday in the Sun, yeah,
a terrible kit.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
I don't know matchups, the lines. I just thought they
were a bit stronger in the clutch moments. Yes, they
were lucky with some of the free kickers.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
Well, I can't get a read on them. I still
can't get a reader.

Speaker 3 (32:41):
No, I agree with that because they could have easily
lost this game, that's for sure. Are they possibly fitter
than Adelaide in this one? Adelaide the two losses they've had,
they didn't go a goal in the last quarter, so
that's a real worry. I know that they're still a
really good side. They got stars go wore, but they
lost their fitness a little bit. And are we worried
about them late in games?

Speaker 1 (32:58):
Well, we sit in around one that they they didn't
look super fit and ready to go, and then they
went completely psycho against you along in the last quarter
who have had problems finishing games themselves this year may
be gws And then we said it wasn't impressive. So
maybe that was a bit of a reading on how
the Crows are actually going. Yea, so maybe the Ick
should go to Adelaide rather than Brisbane. But think they're

(33:21):
both two and two. But then you look at it
this weekend Brisbane have North, Adelaide have Hawthorne. It's going
to be at the same time. I just recently bought it,
like yesterday. Second, a third screen turned up for my office,
so now I've got the laptop screen screen like a chameleon.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
Just look at it.

Speaker 1 (33:44):
I will be living in my office for the next month.

Speaker 3 (33:46):
Yeah, very nice. But yeah, the Crows feel like they're
a bit hard done by Brisbane, very happy with a win,
and I just don't know how to beat They don't
know how to bit the lines, which is.

Speaker 2 (33:54):
I mean something in the Crow's favor is that they
kicked six goals in this game, and as we know
from the Hawks, maybe they don't really have much of
an attacking force, so that might sit in Adelaide's favor.

Speaker 1 (34:06):
We have to go to Frankston on Sunday. I don't
know that bring back the hot Ship revealed or not
bring back get the hot Ship revealed Frankston. We got
big Park next week too, very nice Arden Street, North Melbourne.
That's not like Girls nineteen. I got that wrong, Gerald, apologies,
it's eight girls ten fifty eight. Tell you what the
wind Wind tried its best. But yeah, eight Girls ten

(34:27):
to fifty eight defeated Collingwood two one thirteen. Scoreboard doesn't
reflect how good Collingwood were. I thought they are a
tough team to get past.

Speaker 3 (34:35):
It's a big cool Yeah.

Speaker 1 (34:36):
I think they are very they are very stodgy defensive.

Speaker 3 (34:39):
They're better defensively than something other.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
Defensively stuff. I'll give you that. I'll give that. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (34:44):
Look that North could have, you know, had a bigger
score against them, so that is probably credit to Collingwand's
defense and a bit of pressure from them as well.
But at the end of the day, North we're very
very strong. No one can stop them watching it like that.
They are all over their defense absol just massive tackle

(35:05):
count and pressure play. It was an Irish party though,
yes it was. Let's just talk about Vicky Wall.

Speaker 1 (35:13):
Big Laughlin bow guy.

Speaker 2 (35:15):
I mean, there was a great like collaborative play between There.

Speaker 1 (35:19):
Was about eighteen handballs between them. They can't bounce the
footy between themselves, and they just had a hand bullets
to each other.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
It's great.

Speaker 3 (35:25):
Somehow bounces back up.

Speaker 1 (35:28):
Vicky will did try one in the last quarter and
it went left.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
Details details just.

Speaker 3 (35:34):
First, has been unbelieved. She's going to kick goal the
goal every game and I think she said three two
games with multiple guys like she's so good.

Speaker 1 (35:41):
I don't think she's missed. She maybe not, Yeah, she has,
she's missed. Finally she missed yesterday.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
I just loved seeing Vicky Woll just take the ball
out of the contest through the middle and she just
ran with such power and her running force is awesome,
and the fact that Blathan could stay with her, and yeah,
the Collingwood defender was just absolutely not going to take
it to them. The Pies unfortunately did. They didn't register

(36:10):
one score until midway through the third and I really
think that's really telling. It was. I mean, you expect
them to probably get on the board, but it was
a scripted kind of game from North and Pies just
where they are.

Speaker 1 (36:24):
The weather in Melbourne, like the sun was down and
the weather in Melbourne yesterday was ridiculous. It was blowing.
A genuine Megan Gale.

Speaker 2 (36:33):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely, I mean tiny white. She took
ten marks, so yeah, I mean the ball just kept
coming down towards her. So she was strong in some moments.
Had to work cut out for her of course, but
in North forward line Randall and she Law they're getting
it together. As ad that forward line she or didn't

(36:55):
kick a goal, but really strong aerial presence from her.

Speaker 1 (36:58):
There'll be one day where both of them have a
day out and everyone is screwed because it feels like
one week at Shield or the next week. It's random.

Speaker 3 (37:06):
Yeah, it's ridiculous exactly.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
Ash Roddel again just a star playmaker, thirty six and
seven tackles, she was huge.

Speaker 3 (37:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (37:16):
So I just want to mention that North's mid to
forward line connection is such It's just such good football
to watch because they have genuine forwards that make genuine
leaves and.

Speaker 3 (37:26):
They sort of spread out a bit as well, something.

Speaker 2 (37:28):
Create space and the Mids can actually they hit them
on the chest with the ball. Really good delivery forward
so it's really fun to watch actually. But yeah, unfortunately
for the Pies, both of their scores came from free kicks.
A nice ash central moment. She could read what was
happening pretty well and her the free kick call. Yeah,
so that was good. We love seeing a central footy

(37:51):
smart moment. But yeah, the pressure from the ruse too strong.
Didn't let the Pies get a hand on the ball
and didn't let them get the game on their terms
at all. So probably expected results.

Speaker 1 (38:01):
Yeah, look at that one hundred extra disposals, was forty
eight inside fifties to twenty five. It was everything that
you expected out of this game. But I think Collingwood
will walk away from that gun. Okay, we haven't got
blown out. They haven't been blown out this year, so
we know that they're an improving team and they probably
are going to win, you know, maybe two or three
games for the whole season. But if they can keep
some of these better teams from kicking those bigger scores,

(38:23):
like this is a North Melton team that kicked one
hundred have gone on consecutive weeks of scoring the biggest
score ever, so to keep them to fifty eight points
is a tick. Yes, kicking two goals doesn't help, but
we've set all you they don't have a fourth line.
I also want a shout out front of the show
and friend of stats guys Amy Smithy link up player
on the wing. Yeah, like twelve handballs. She was the
receiver who then gave it off so the game could

(38:45):
get flowing for North Meltoons, which was.

Speaker 3 (38:47):
Good to the next level this year, which is really good,
as I've seen in my AFOW fantasy, which is very handy.

Speaker 2 (38:52):
Yes, yeah, the Pires have Sydney next week. Of course,
just the challenges keep coming for them, as do North,
probably their biggest challenge of the season. And Lions, Oh.

Speaker 3 (39:00):
That'd be good next week. I mean film, I reckon
when North plays like Adelaid Brisbane, it just ends up
being close, no matter how.

Speaker 1 (39:08):
That beats them by sixty in round one last year.
That's a long time ago.

Speaker 2 (39:12):
North of course, going up North, Yeah, North going to
play the Lions.

Speaker 1 (39:17):
Yeah, get North on a good deck with good weather,
yeah true, Yeah, good luck and let's just note they
didn't even miss Jazz Ghana. She can just chick.

Speaker 3 (39:26):
I know.

Speaker 2 (39:27):
Yeah, well needed break for Jazz. She didn't just take
her time getting back to health.

Speaker 1 (39:32):
Just let Ruby Tropody have a thousand possessions. Yeah, games, Yeah,
Snday Windy Hill. The winning streak for the Bombers comes
to an end essenon four three twenty seven, defeated by
Geelong eight ten to fifty eight. So we talked about
this last week. We're going to take note of both
of the teams that played at Dream Time in Darwin.
Both of them lost and looked very sluggish in the

(39:52):
first quarter. Because this was a first quarter domination by Geelong.
They only led by a couple of goals and they
probably should have led by four or five given the
territory dominance that they had throughout. Windy Hill absolutely lived
up to its name. We just talked about it at
Arden Street. It was bad Windy Hill's ten minutes up. Yeah,
it was a bad afternoon for the wind But Geelong
made a big call pro game dropping Meg McDonald their captain, which.

Speaker 3 (40:16):
Was it is a big call. Yeah. They started a
lot worse than I thought as well to the season,
so maybe they just wanted to change it up and yeah.

Speaker 1 (40:23):
See it works. So we need to get these injuries
out of the way first, because brook Walker and Steph
Kane have knee issues. As of a recording on Monday,
we have no updates as if yet. I'm very worried
for brook Walker's because hers looked very similar to how
Darcy Jones did his ACL on the weekend, but the
word out in the press conference after the game was
that potentially not. So we're very hopeful that Brookwalker has

(40:47):
not done her ACL and Steph's just it didn't look okay.

Speaker 3 (40:50):
Yeah, I was saying before the show, especially in women's sport,
can we just get rid of the ACL communist. I'm
not a doctor, but can you just take it out?
And then you can't even do it if you don't
have one. Kip has been running around with the torn
most the year, so I'll look into it, but yeah, not.

Speaker 1 (41:02):
A medical doctor. The stats, yeah not yet. Yeah, but yeah.
The Cats dominated this game, and just like last week
against the Swans, they started it off really strong, but
this one they really kept it up in the second quarter.
They didn't really know how to again, how to read
the win because it's it just started blowing across the
other way. But the main thing for them was in
the third quarter they finally got on top. They hit
the scoreboard. You saw Georgie Presparker started starting to get

(41:25):
her hands on the footy a lot. She kicked the
first two goals of the season. She's had thirty odd
touches with five hundred and seventy four meters game and
she didn't come to the bench one hundred game time.

Speaker 3 (41:35):
You have like wingers or mids, the some that do that, Yeah,
in lots of different sports, but in the AFL doing
that is unbelieving. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (41:43):
Yeah. And then she was obviously really well add by
Nina Morris, and she had twenty seven a goal herself
and five hundred and twenty three meters gain and no stats.
Guys not big on meters games, but I think in
the AFL, W I think it's more you have about
when you have about eleven hundred meters game between two
players who have sixty touches, it's probably going to set
up you win.

Speaker 3 (41:58):
Yep, it's the same.

Speaker 1 (42:00):
Sorry for us, And obviously a few players injured, a
few plays suspended. Bonnie two Good is back next week,
which is a big in but you know, George and
NaN's gone and Maddie Prisparcas just once again central to
everything that they did. They have been phenomenally. It's getting
the rest of the team to go along with them
that's going to be the issue. Now they're like they've
won the three games now they're three and one, so
they've still set their seasons up really well, but you

(42:22):
just need the rest of the team to get going.
Now that Bonnie is going to come back, you're hopefully
that she's going to hit the score award. Steph Wales
back after ten months only ten months for an acl
is amazing. She dominated in the right as well Killer White.
So now that she's back as well, so you think
if they can get some of the on top of
the clearance and the stoppage getting it down to Bonnie
and some of the other forwards as well, they're going

(42:44):
to win a few more games this year and hopefully
play finals.

Speaker 3 (42:47):
Yeah, well they'd hope. Also it is to do with
the fixture a little bit as well. They've had a
good start, so yeah, they'd.

Speaker 2 (42:52):
Be happening to play finals and this is really positive
for the Cats. So because we've talked about how they've
fallen away in games, you know North early in the year. Yeah,
this is positive. They were able to carry out this game,
get it done. Maybe just liked in the second quarter,
So still looking for that full four quarter performance.

Speaker 1 (43:10):
But you have a look at Gelong, you feel like
if they're going to make the right at the table,
and we both thought they were going to win on
the weekend, it's going to be on the back of
Maloney and Prosparcus as well, because it feels like they're
sort of like Nina Morrison is going to be brilliant
week in week out, But if Maloney and Presparkers have
the twenty touches and a couple of goals between them,
that's that's what he's going to propel you along up
the table. And they've got Richmond next week at Icon.

Speaker 2 (43:33):
Yes, quickly, just touch on the Spark's sister battle.

Speaker 3 (43:37):
Yes, awesome.

Speaker 1 (43:37):
Yeah, Team Georgie, Team George. I've always been team George.

Speaker 3 (43:41):
Yah. Fair enough that when they go head to head,
they just I feel like they take it to the
next level because they both want to beat each.

Speaker 1 (43:46):
Other in disposal and there which.

Speaker 3 (43:48):
Was nice, Yeah, very very good to watch.

Speaker 1 (43:50):
Yeah, So and es in next week have killed her
at Windy Hill next Sundays. Well again both of those
games at the same time.

Speaker 3 (43:56):
What are we doing?

Speaker 1 (43:58):
Finally, Mineral Resources hark all it chish Marara ten goals
for sixty four that been the West Coast Eagles defeated
Yatsa Pulti seven three forty five that been port ad Eed.
West Coast just need every quarter to be the fourth quarter.

Speaker 3 (44:12):
Oh they just they know how to finish games, don't they.
I think the whole game was pretty exciting. He had
an awesome attacking game, fast paced footy, so many young
guns on display from both teams, which is what we
love to see. But the difference was just the running
capacity of the Eagles, as you mentioned, definitely in the
last quarter, but they had fifty nine more uncontested possessions,
which I think means you're a fit aside you can
you can get to the open space and get some
easy footy, which Daisy Pierce, that's what she did in

(44:34):
her whole care ish and so that she's teaching that
to her Eagles players, which is absolutely awesome. And they
looked insanely quick through the middle. One of them. I'm
saying They're one of the most exciting teams to watch
right now is the Eagles, which I really liked, especially
on the weekend, and on that with the more uncontested disposals.
Four West Coast players had over twenty two disposals and
not one Port player had over twenty. I remember saying
this last season about Port they don't have enough players

(44:57):
ball magnets, Like every team in AFL has three or
four players that can get twenty twenty five disposals. Plus
they just don't have that consistent ball winner, which is
I think is a real worry just for the clearances
and things like that. Would you guys agree on that, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (45:08):
Well they've been concerning this season so far, so Yeah,
that absolutely makes sense. Yeah's some great goals happening.

Speaker 3 (45:15):
Absolutely awesome goals. He had some clutch goals from Lewis
clutch two goals in the last quarter from their vice captain,
and as Alex mentioned before, the Eagles looked better as
the game went on, same as last week. Second week,
they've come from behind for a really good win. I
wanted to touch on Courtney Rawy. She showed how good
she can be with a career best twenty seven disposals,
seven clearances and a goal. I think her best before
that was eighteen so disposals that is. So she's been

(45:38):
really good. And you add that to their start start
of midfield with Roberts Lewis, just so many good young
players coming through there.

Speaker 1 (45:44):
Would you believe Ellen Roberts only had four kicks yes, balls.

Speaker 3 (45:48):
Yeah, wow. But the fact that she didn't have to dominate,
and then you've got Rarely stepping up, You've got Lewis
stepping up, and they're all I think under twenty two
of years of age. Like awesome, awesome stuff for the Eagles,
and days people just licking it.

Speaker 2 (46:01):
Lips, really positive signs for them.

Speaker 1 (46:02):
They get a chance to win the Derby next week, Yes,
Derby next week.

Speaker 2 (46:06):
That was absolutely it would be really good. A lot
of people would be tipping them in, so definitely I.

Speaker 3 (46:11):
Think I'll be tipping them at the moment. Yeah, Port
They were really good earlier adjusted to the slippery conditions.
They gained a nineteen point later at the start, but
they weren't hard enough in the contest. I want to
ask a question here, and they couldn't rely stop Eagles
out of the midfield, so should have coached Lauren Arnel
put Jemma Houghton in the midfields for some crash and bash.
She did that last couple of seasons. Obviously it's getting
a little bit older. But would you think that that
would have helped the power in this one?

Speaker 1 (46:33):
Not really because when they get it forward, who are
they going to kick it to?

Speaker 3 (46:36):
Oh, you got sholts down there, you might be in
the Yeah. I think if you could put jemmah Hawten
even in the.

Speaker 1 (46:42):
Ruck, I reckon that's after the center bounces, when then
you can say, all right, go up and go up
to the footage.

Speaker 3 (46:47):
They just a bit soft in the contest and I
would have wanted someone in there that can just charge through.
So I don't know, just a little thing for Jemma
Houghten to go in there, Ashwood And it was really
good for Port, which was really really good to see
nine disposes a goal and then just an awesome for
the Eagles. There now three in one and is days
a Pierce already showing she can be a great coach
of the game.

Speaker 1 (47:04):
Well, last year they started off the season on fire, Yes,
they fell away. So if they go four and one
this week, it's what I want to see in the
next three weeks after that because they have set themselves
up for a crack at the finals.

Speaker 2 (47:15):
It's very exciting. Yeah yeah, super exciting.

Speaker 1 (47:18):
All right, let's take a look at ladder now that
we've gone through every single one of the games in
a shock to No. One, North Melbourne or on top
of the ladder. They will stay there for the remainder
of time, because that's what North Medivons do. Now I'm
the Melbourne Demons next, with the Sydney Swanson Hawthorne rounding
out the unbeaten teams. Carlton up to fifth, with West
Coast only a couple of percent behind and one point

(47:40):
two to be exact. Then you've got Essendon, who had
their first loss of the season, splitting the top eight,
eighth and ninth the Crows. The Crows in the line.
So that result for the lines on the weekend is
really big because they would have still been ninth, but
they would have been a game out of the eighth.
Then next all the teams on four points, from Yatapulty
down to the Gold Coast Suns in sixteenth sorry, down

(48:01):
to Freo sorry, with only forty three percent after the
loss on the weekend and then Richmond and GWS yet
to win a game, which is not ideal, and I
struggle to see how either of them are going to
win next week. And I look ahead quickly to round
six where we do have Richmond against Sint Kilda and
gw Wes take on the Swans in a derby, So

(48:21):
Richmond a chance for two weeks. Yeah. Yeah. Tipping results
from the weekend, Jess's lead has been cut to one
after only tipping six because I decided to tip seven. Seriously, yeah, absolutely,
Costas Spence tip six and the stats guy I got five.

Speaker 3 (48:40):
Well, I didn't put my tips in this week. Well
that's probably my fault if you.

Speaker 1 (48:44):
Should have got the away teams, which means you would
have had an even worse weekend if we look at
away teams. So the away teams on the weekend actually
went one two. You would have got two if you
got the away teams. Yeah, there you go. Big core
results from the weekend, Yess. I feel like you're gonna
comit to the bit.

Speaker 2 (49:00):
I'm committing guys, it's coming. Sorry, the draw it's coming,
and if I don't commit to it, it'll be the
week that I don't put it in draw exactly watch
this space.

Speaker 1 (49:11):
Spence wanted Center to have twenty five. That did not happen.
I wanted this ones to have the biggest win. They won,
but they were the third biggest win I think. And
that guy got the closest Prosparkus sisters combined for sixty
they had fifteen.

Speaker 3 (49:25):
Give me the tick. The ticket's a bit. It's the
closest we have. I'm the closest of anyone.

Speaker 1 (49:30):
That's tad big call this week, So I think I
deserve it to No, you didn't get it. No half
points here, I should have just said fifty five lock
results just being stitched up once again.

Speaker 3 (49:40):
I saw that.

Speaker 2 (49:41):
I'm really I haven't had one lock results in my way.

Speaker 1 (49:44):
I feel like there's a punishment coming of some sort.
Maybe just buys all the sandwich general the sandwich behind
the screen. Yeah, so Tyler Harrison did not kick a
gul is unlucky?

Speaker 2 (49:53):
Do I say the days are seven old? One of them?

Speaker 1 (49:58):
Spence climbing a to kick girl. She kicked two. I
needed lives and McNamara to have fifteen. She had twenty one.
Ashrauduel for the stats guy, I needed twenty five. She
absolutely blits that thirty six disposal easy best performance of
the round, beat a team or a player.

Speaker 2 (50:14):
Jess, Oh, yes, I totally forgot to You've got here,
but I'm gonna Carson. I you know what, Let's give
it to sof Yeah.

Speaker 3 (50:25):
Yeah like that.

Speaker 2 (50:26):
I'm super excited. Loved watching her play.

Speaker 1 (50:29):
So yeah, she's going to make a heck of a
media personality in fifteen years.

Speaker 2 (50:33):
Very excited about it.

Speaker 3 (50:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (50:34):
Actually, I can just make a podcast with her and Abbey.

Speaker 3 (50:36):
That would be very good.

Speaker 1 (50:37):
You want to do it to the Sports Today Network?
We know a place, Yes, let's do it.

Speaker 3 (50:41):
Stat guy, I'm just gonna say West Coast as a whole, because,
like I said before, I think they're one of the
most exciting teams to watch when you're when you're killing
a team and you've you've got a big win without
Ala Roberts dominating, Obviously, a lot of us really love
watching Ala Roberts. I think it's just such good signs
that there's new players every week that are playing well.
So West Coast can be my best performance. I'm giving
players love this week. Georgia Prosparkus gets it for me.

(51:03):
Two goals to have thirty odd disposal set up.

Speaker 1 (51:06):
The win in massive style for Geong was the first
one of the season and a win that they desperately needed.
So Georgia Prosparkus gets my vote this week. That'll do
