Speaker 1 (00:01):
Round five is done and dusted. There are upsets everywhere,
but of course North Melbourne keep on winning. Welcome to
afl W today's Around five wrap up. I'm your host
Alex Doneley. As always, I am joined by Code Sports
is Jess Robinson, who is up and about. She's been
writing about the social team and North Melbourne win yet
another game.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Yes, it was a great, great game, a great game
to watch.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
Superstoked and over there the stats guy Lean McCall and
he's happy he's teams winning. They've won five games, which
is now more than the men's team this season.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Absolutely we get to sing John and the course a
lot more in the women's season.
Speaker 4 (00:32):
So I'm very at pump with that.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
And yeah, like you said, what's upsets which we're going
to touch on.
Speaker 4 (00:37):
There was just it was impossible to tip. If you
had a perfect round in.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
AFIW this week for tipping, then I don't think you
even want to watch the game.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
If you tip nine, give me tomorrow's lottery numbers. So
then we can all retire and live out our best
lives somewhere and maybe Moniker for example. So before you
get started, to make sure you do subscribe to afl
today on a YouTube follow along there, make sure you
hit the subscribe button as well as notification spells, so
anytime we do a video across the w program and
the men's program, you'll get notified. Of course, the boys
pumping out a bunch of content at the moment for
(01:07):
the men's season as well, given it is pre LIMB
Final week, but also follow us on x, Facebook, Instagram
and TikTok It's AFL today AU across all of those
platforms and Ossie Rules Today for the men's stuff on
Facebook as well. But a lot of footy content coming
your way over the coming weeks and months. But as
we said, a round five upsets galore. This genuinely felt
like we were in Marvel's seventeenth Parallel Universe.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
Yeah, what a reference it was.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Throw the tipping out the window. This was like a
mid season trick. I feel like because the fixture was
very tight. It was like you couldn't watch everything, so
you would check the score for a different game and
I was just.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
Like, what I think it made it?
Speaker 3 (01:47):
It made it a bit exciting because I feel like
a few a few games like I'll pens it them
in for in or pencil. This team in for a win,
and then they did the opposite and then the finals,
so the race offin is going to be even tighter.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
Now, I love it.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
You do have a little bit of a gap though,
So every team that's in the top eight which touch
on later is either on twelve points or more, and
then so Risbone in ninth on eight points, and then
it sort of drops away to one team that doesn't
want a game yet. But we need to talk about
the games of course this weekend. Starting off the first
game of the weekend was Saturday at Victoria Park, Collingwood,
with the first of many upsets this weekend. Six seven
(02:18):
forty three defeated my beloved Sidney Swan's two five seventeen.
Before we get into the game, let's talk about the ground. Oh,
it was cooked.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
It was.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
There was dog crap all over the joint. There was
spray painted dog crap. There was there was mesh in
the goal squares, which feels kind of dangerous given you know,
the heightened potency of ACL injuries in the women's game. Yes,
there was mesh in the goal squorers. Having a walk
in the ground after the.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Game was that acceptable though?
Speaker 1 (02:45):
I mean I was in a little sneaky thing and
I nearly slipped over. So imagine being in a footy
boot and getting a stud caught on the mesh.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Was actually like a spot where you could get caught.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Yeah, because there was obviously issues with this ground leading
up to Collingwood's first game at Big Park this season.
It was all sandy and I was filled in everywhere
they was again as just said that he was spray
painting in the grass and over some excrements as well.
So this is an embarrassment. We try to take this
this game in this league seriously. Yeah, we still find
ways to make this look like complete amateur hour, like
(03:16):
it's you know, vaffa w.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
Well. The thing is if it was a men's game,
that would be absolute uproar.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Yeah, So I'm glad we're talking about it because it's
not good enough the player's safety, like you said as well, so.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
Enough, Yeah, it's I also want to ask, like there
was about three thousand people at the ground on the weekend,
which was great, good turnout for a Saturday. Where was
the Collingwood men's team. Where were they pumping? No, no, no, seriously,
where were they pumping?
Speaker 4 (03:38):
They were just trying to delay talking about Sydney.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
I'm asking though, because we had KPIs that we need
to hit to get more games each and every year.
We need minimum six thousand attendants at games. We need
thousand people to watch games. Colin would have a week off,
why not say hey, pregame or postgame, there's going to
be an autograph session with five or six players. I
didn't see one Men's player at the ground on the weekend,
and if they were there, I was wrong on the
other side of the ground, But I did not see
(04:01):
one going into the media center after the game.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
Yeah, that's a genuine shout, and it's a perfect opportunity
for a halftime or a broadcast moment where you can
interview one of the guys obviously got the pre games.
Yeah yeah, so yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
It's a missed opportunity. But it's just, you know, it's
just one of those things where you'd like to see that.
Like obviously you could say that about multiple teams and programs,
like a lot of blokes for the teams that aren't
playing in finals or on holiday at the moment. So
I understand that, but you know, just something to see.
But for this game, Collingwood we've talked about the more
season that they've been going quite well without getting the
results because their lack of a forward line has been
an issue. But their pressure is what won them this game.
(04:39):
They were outstanding. Anytime Sydney got near the footy, there
was tackles from everywhere and it just got to the
point where anytime Sydney went near the footy there was
a perceived pressure and they were so fumbly. And then
on the other hand, Collingwood were clinical when they got it.
They found outlet runners, they found the space. A couple
of their goals just came from work where Swan's defenders
(05:01):
switched off and a little short chip up to someone
who was, you know, ten or twelve meters close to
the goal. They were just better across every facet of
the game at the end of the day, and this
is this is a really good win for Collingwood.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
Definitely, and credit to Collingwood because they outplayed the Swans
at what they're really good at. So the Swans usually
are a high pressure team and they were a bit
shell shocked.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Talked to Scotti Gowans after the game and he's like,
our pressure was above our seasonal average, but Collingwood was
just next level so on the pressure ratings that they
have in the box according to Champion Dart and he's like, yeah,
they were just ridiculous, even though we were above average.
But Glinda Howeth, she's coming back from an acl obviously,
she just kept on finding space. She needs to pick
a better goal song. That was really sick of hearing it.
At the end of the game. I can't even remember.
Speaker 4 (05:45):
I was just out any whatever. The goal.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Centras was really good. She popped up with too. But yeah,
Clinda how I thought. Aside from Brittonicci, who we've talked
about her before with her use of the footy being
below average, she was brilliant on Saturday. She was finding targets,
she was laying tackles and I think ash CenTra had
her best game by a long way. We talked about
her a lot, how she wasn't really footy fit. She
missed a bit of the preseason due to a hip injury.
(06:11):
Now that she's built into it, adding touches, two goals,
lot of smarts around the footy. Like watching her. It's
the first Collingwood game I've actually been at the ground
for this season. Just watching her movement. She's like, oh, yeah,
you can see it, like it's we already knew you
see it.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
Yeah, because even if she's not the fastest player, but
she's always in the right spots.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
And then is she a lock for the rising stan
on this week? Sure?
Speaker 1 (06:31):
I reckon, Oh she hasn't got it?
Speaker 4 (06:32):
Yeah, sure she.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Well, she's had some really like high IQ footy moments
last couple of weeks, touches two goals exactly. It's great
to see her just get a little bit more of
the ball and have bit more of an impact.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
So you look at it like Collingwood won the clearances
by eleven, they used the ball brilliantly inside fifty, they
won the contested footy by nineteen twenty possessions as well.
And then you look at the Swans, who, when you
think about it, they had been building towards a performance
like this, despite winning where they've been showing their worst,
and they showed their worst for most the day. The
slow start once again, they gave up patches of goals
in the first couple of minutes and then they were
(07:05):
just bad with the footy. The only good thing for
this one was Montana Ham probably kicked goal of the year,
just with the running linking places like.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
A weekly call.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Now three of the top four this year as well.
Alexia Hamilton went down with I thought it was a
shoulder or a collar bone that happened right in front
of me, but the contact because you could see it
coming she was going back with the flight of the ball,
Alis Mitchell and collingwood Ford were flying forward and just
the crunch was all you could hear it. Yeah, there
(07:34):
was that you know that smack. Yeah, it wasn't great.
And I've had an update this morning. Julia Sullivan's having
scans on her knee this morning. I would be shocked
if it's not an a c L which sucks it.
Just the way that it bent was not good. The
positive for the Swans is Colin wood only kicked one
goal in the second half. Had this ones kicked straight,
they would have given themselves a chance to win it.
But they were just got awful with the football all
(07:56):
day and they had way too many passengers.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
And so Colin was just fence on someone like Chloe Oh.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
They were double teaming. Jordie Allen was good. You had
Sabrina Frederick dropping a kick behind players.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
The tactics were like, really, I think I even noticed
some of the tactics when Colin would play North they
were there like like obviously defensive structure.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
The Swans are begging for a tall Ford when North
Melbourne have you know you've got your Kate. She Tarlie Randalls,
this one's need someone who's six foot tall that can
take a mark. It's it's not good, but Colin would fantastic.
Like they can build from this as well. You can
see maybe not this year, but definitely next year with
some more experience. The Teta breed coming back as well.
Her on TikTok on the weekend, her mum was in town.
(08:37):
She tossed the coin before the game, apparently, and she
was like, my mom's just giving me a bit of
a drive by here. What do you say, mum that Well,
if I'm tossing the coin, I'm gonna have more on
ground time this season than you.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
You wouldn't expect that.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
From going I love that. Can we get her on
the show.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
Shout out to Montana ham'smum for coming out and saying good.
She said that she listens. We're big with the mums
here on afl WS.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
Absolutely alright.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Icon Park this game was scintillating. Carlton ten eleven seventy
one defeated Gold Coast for one twenty five.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Yeah, and look, you look at the score board and
you're like, Okay, Carlson got it done pretty easy. But
it actually was a little bit more challenging for the
Blues and it was quite entertaining the first half. The
Sons are right in there with the Blues keeping up
with them, and then they just blew out the second
half Carleton. So Sons came out confident, obviously the back
(09:33):
of a winning performance last week, so they had a
bit of momentum early and there was only one point
in it at halftime. Of course, there was a controversial goal,
which I want to talk to you guys about because
does this reinforce the idea that the w needs a
bit more of a score review.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
Yes, process, we have the chip in the ball.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
We're talking about this prey show, which still I don't
even know if there's like, is that this a green
light that pops up or something? And then I think
it's correct, and then I'm not even sure if that
counts towards Yeah, if it goes over the line, I
thinks like that remember.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
When and I were in a not icon park at
punt Rode last year, Colin on the Friday before the
Grand Final, Collingwood and gold Coast. No, Collingwood kicked a goal.
You and I from one hundred and fifty meters away
could see that it was touched, wasn't called, and colling
would win the game by four points, like Gold Coast robbed, Yes,
gold Coast love this system.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
Yeah, well exactly for people that may have missed it.
The Suns had a ball went over the line, came
I mean it was very clear umpires standing right there
and came back into play and brought them right back
in it. So anyway, credit to the Blues. It's a
reflection where both teams are at right now. They kept
(10:49):
the Suns scoreless after halftime and they went on to
boot seven to blow out the game. They scored fifty
seven points from their intercepts, so they had a good
defensive pre zense and they could translate that into a
forward attack. They start the season four one for the
first time since twenty twenty. So yeah, we've we've spoken
about them a lot this season.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
And they running are getting very positive and happy, which
is good to see because if Carlton's women's program gets rolling,
they're the type of fan base that will show up,
which is.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
They've got a big fan base in obviously women. So
you love to see that. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
Yeah, so Sophie McKay when we just mentioned Centro Rising
Star nom this week, likely Sophie McKay three goals, putting
together a great debut season. I'm asking you, guys, could
she genuinely be this year's Rising Start.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
I think she's second at the moment.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
I mean there's a few other great contenders in there
as well, but she could be.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
Because yeah, if we're doing it after five games, it's
probably Zippy her. Then of the ones that have been
nominated for Havana Harris and the Chair Painter, and we're
going to say ash CenTra is going to be nom
this week as well.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
Yeah, I put her first at the moment just because
she's in the scoreboard.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
Yeah. May not many, I know, I know, but the
ability for first few players, I think we always see
our first goal.
Speaker 4 (12:02):
They usually get their first goal, but to get hit
the scoreboard multiple times. Yeah, two goals, last three goals
this week, I'm really impressed.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
Yeah, it feels like the vibometer of that team already too.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
Yeah, they all love Oh my god, I said, she
just smiles and everyone else smiles and they're all they
go forward.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
It's awesome for the Blues again. And that just really
strong midfield presence. The Suns actually had the top three
players touching the ball on the ground, so they march
around it, Charlie Robottom, Claudia Whitford all amongst it. But
good news for the Suns. They were actually very even
in the middle of the ground, so the contest, but
(12:36):
the game was one in the Blues forward half. You
can forward tackles.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
You can see what gold coaster building towards. It's not
going to be this year, probably won't be next year either,
but you can see that their buildings. They've got a
bunch of academy kids.
Speaker 4 (12:46):
Coming through and they've got to play.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Evana Harris is like fifth for score involvements already in
the competition.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
Yeah, and they don't even scoring.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
I think that's a really positive thing to take out
of the game.
Speaker 4 (12:56):
Yeah. Absolutely, that was an oval.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
Port Adelaide six seven forty three hold on to defeat
the Melbourne Demons, who lost their first game for the
season five eleven forty one. Shout out to my future
mother in law goes for D's Ruthie. Bad kicking is
bad football.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
Yes, well that's it. If you were one of those
fans that was sitting at home watching Ko all day
and you jump between the Blues Son's game to the
Power and the D's and you would have been in
for a treat because this was a genuineater game of
the round. Port very lucky to come away with the
win because the D's were firing home they when they
(13:30):
probably shouldn't have been. Port probably should have put them
away in that final term with two minutes to go.
Port were up by ten. Early in the fourth term
they were up by seventeen, so they really did let
the D's kick their way back into it. Kate Hart, She's.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
Just I think that's my favorite player non North Division Division. Yeah,
in the I've said I think I said this last
year as well, she's my favorite player outside.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
Of forty score involvements already this year for Kate.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
R forty and how many goals did she have of
her own.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
Leading the competition in scoring.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
We mad the mask as well. That was cool last year.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
Yeah, she was really great. Twenty seven and three. She
kept the D's within it. She's a freak put them
She had a great goal in the second third, and
then in the final couple of minutes she had a
great set shop from the pocket, really tight angle put
them within three points. So just really great performance by her.
Zenka then had this point that if it went through,
(14:25):
the D's would have probably won the game.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
Of the games.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
Yes, I was really going for the drawer. But again,
I'm going to have to run with this again next
week because we're getting closer.
Speaker 4 (14:43):
Coming around, Like ten, I told you.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
I knew it was coming. Yeah, so the d's inaccuracy
of course cost them Packsman two points, Bannon two points.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
But yeah, what about like they were like they've won
the game, and sort of like, oh THEY'REDS, they've missed out,
Like this is a big absolutely they started the season
terribly too.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
Indeed, Tahowe three goals. Matilda Schultz took some really strong marks.
She probably needs to tidy up the turnover game. She
took a great contest to grab early in the forward line,
tried the unselfish player center of the ball, which did
end up in a turnover, but you could see what
the mindset was there. Ela Bow had a great opening goal,
(15:28):
so their pressure game was immense. They were leading the
tackle count, deflating the Deed's handball game, which is such
a strength of theirs. But it was a little bit
of a tough watch early seven points between the two
teams with just the one goal from Bogue early. It
was a bit of a struggle, but it turned out
to be very fun. It was a great end to
(15:50):
the game, super exciting footy the D's. Unfortunately, D's fans,
if you're listening, you're probably going to cringe at this.
They were plus fourteen in the inside fifties, a return
of just eleven percent goal efficiency, and they were up
in most of all the other stats. So I'm putting
to you, guys, what do we make of the D's.
They're obviously coping with some injuries and pretty serious injuries
(16:10):
as well, but they yet to play the top teams,
have really only played the Dogs, Saints, Pies and the Tigers.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
I was really big on the D's before you just
said that, because I was like, oh, they're flying.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
I think before the season I said they're going to
be my biggest rises.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
I think their fixture was on their side but the
fact that they haven't played any of the big teams yet.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
Now I'm actually a little bit a little bit worried about.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
I think they'll still obviously make the finals, maybe possibly
win a final, but not be that contender that I
thought that they could be.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
I mean, their next three are West Coast, Gold Coast
in Essendon, so they're probably gonna win all three of those.
Speaker 4 (16:42):
We say that, but then they could randomly live yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
Yeah, and then they've got Frio, Sydney doing this on
the fly Free of Sydney, Brisbane and in the last
round Geelong, so they need to cash in on the
next couple of games. Yes, definitely, Yeah, I think I
think they'll play finals. They have set themselves up to
play finals. If they win two or three the next four,
they're basically locked in. And then I think that Swan's
game is going to be a top four to sider.
(17:07):
Yeah for one of them. Potentially they keep going the
way I think they'll go. So yeah, really interesting one
nice we'll get to Monica Oval. GWS eight to fifty
defeated the Western Bulldogs three eleven twenty nine and this
was GWS's first winning three hundred and seventy eight days.
Speaker 4 (17:22):
Three hundred and seventy eight came in Round.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
One against the Western Bulldogs last year where they absolutely
kicked the living crap out of it.
Speaker 4 (17:27):
So they're playing their bunnies. They just always beat the dogs.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
Play the dogs in Manica every week in GWS will
win the flag.
Speaker 3 (17:33):
I swear we said last week, like we're so happy
with the Bulldogs and when they lose, they look good.
Speaker 4 (17:37):
They've kicked some decent scores and then they.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
Get maybe they just got their giant curse.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
Yeah, maybe, or they just don't like going to Cambra
because it's a whole I was going to say this
probably from I could say I went to Campra so
many times as a child it is so cold.
Speaker 4 (17:52):
I was gonna say, I agree, but I haven't been
to Camber.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
I mean North Melbourne go there and lose.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
So yeah, true. I think lots of teams.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
Yeah. What I did love about this game was there
was a bit of anks between the two teams as well.
Obviously he's about Huntington playing against the old team as well,
so there's a bit of feeling in this. I might
love this. Give me more of this. I expect we'll
see more of that in a Giants game next weekend,
which we'll talk about later. But this was just some
This was a horrendous watch. In the first half, it
was really bad to get going. The Dogs kicked six
(18:22):
behind us before they kicked a goal. They got a
goal because of a downfield free kick to Ellie Blackburn.
The first goal was actually a very soft fifty meter
penalty to the Giants. Like, it just wasn't great. You
look at the Dogs, They've had fourteen shots to ten,
They've led the inside fifties thirty seven to twenty nine.
Their efficiency going inside ford fifty wasn't great. Like I
was just having a look at some of the numbers.
The hitouts, they absolutely monster the Giants and they won
(18:44):
the clearances as well, so they should have won this,
but they lost by They've lost by twenty one having
kicked straight. But this game was just absolutely blown open
in the third quarter with Georgia Garnette with the headband,
the hand flowering, long sleeves, like real throwback to the
nineteen eighties. I really enjoy it the way she goes
about it, but kick three like all different ways, running snap,
set shots everything. So she was fantastic and that's what
(19:07):
set the game up for them, and it was just Giants.
Once they got their tails up, they were very confident.
They started running and gunning and put together some really
nice players to get this game and really run away
with it. But I'm looking at this and I'm like,
I'm really disappointed in the Dogs. This was a real
opportunity for them to win their third game of the season,
(19:27):
get another win on the board, and sort of show
us that progression that we thought they were going to
show this year. And the Giants, I'm looking at that, going, Okay,
you've won, But it's like similar to last week when
they were against against gold Cust, I'm like, there's still
so many holes in that and I'm glad good for
them for getting a win fifty eight. They were jeiflessly
efficient for goals in another week that you know, they
(19:49):
kicked two goals at That's just how some of those
things happen. Sometimes you look at the Dogs as well.
For the Dogs, we love Alaye Grieg her defensive pressure fantastic,
like laid a great tack on the first court to
get a holding the ball, and then her goal in
the third quarter was just to touch a class just
a little jink and a step and a snap. That's
just simply fantastic. So we'll lead it into this for
the Giants Sydney Derby this Sunday at Henson Park. You're
(20:12):
in Sydney gets a Henson Park. The Swans want to
break the Sydney attendance record for this. They put the
Giants in fantasy. They want over six thousand people at
the ground this weekend, aiming for sixty five hundred. It
is a Sydney Derby, a great time.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
There's no other footy on in Sydney this weekend set out.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
There's not been no other footing than Sydney for about
a month. Yeah, but do the Giants have a chance
against the Swans next week?
Speaker 2 (20:36):
I think the Swans will come out firing after the
performance against the Pies, so I'm not sure if they
have a genuine chance because I am expecting a lot
from Sydney.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
Yeah, I think it'll have to be a similar thing
to this where Sydney kick inaccurately.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
We saw that on Saturday.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
But if they bring the pressure it could be reasonably close.
I reckon this could still be twenty points either way.
Made fifteen twenty.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
Points thinking that game, the chance for the Swans is
is Allimore. Her eyes are light up seeing how the
Dogs dominated the ruck on the weekend. She had a
poor game on Saturday against Collingwood. This is that could
be the bounce back for her, but Darby's anything happens,
as we know, Yes, someday, Windy Hills stats man, this
is you. What hastened in one goal to eight? Did
they kick a go on the second half?
Speaker 4 (21:18):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (21:18):
No, sorry no, I think I kicked it going. It
was the very end and the first quarter buzzer. Better
they kick the goal and then they can kick one
after that after the quarter.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
Fild know six sixty I've killed her.
Speaker 4 (21:33):
Seriously, They're the hardest team to read in the competition
at the moment. This is insane. This is I'm going
to say this.
Speaker 3 (21:40):
I think the Saints Round one Saints, around five Saints
are just the best team in the competition. They're just
I don't know what happened in between there where they
just lost so many games. But they returned to that
form from Round one, their first win since beating the Crows.
They brought the pressure and intensity. I think we're all
big on the Bombers they looked really strong. They've they've
kicked some big scores and then they go one goal too.
Speaker 4 (21:57):
There was a big crowd.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
I saw a few people there were saying it was
a really good crowd, really good loud crowd, especially when
the Bombers kicked that first goal and then they didn't
kick one after that, which is really disappointing. But the
Saints they won the tackle count by nineteen even though they.
Speaker 4 (22:09):
Won by fifty two, so they had the ball pressure
most of the game.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
But they were just great pressure and they had seven
players with five plus tackles, which is exactly what.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
The coach if the Saints that were hanging on to
the ball, what were the Bombers doing, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
That's what I don't know.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
I think it was more the Bombers were first of
the ball because they actually matched them in the clearances
and things like that, and then the Saints would just
tackle them, get a hold on the ball and then
just go the other way, which is really impressive from
the Saints.
Speaker 4 (22:33):
They went seventy percent disposal.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
Efficiency out to look the last couple of weeks they
below fifty percent the Saints, so that was a real improvement,
which is what you want to see. I just put
it on an absolute clinic the Saints, and it was
mainly from the one two punch of Wardlaw and Richards.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
How good was Jesse Wardlaw's head band by the way,
it was, yeah, patterned very It was the seventy seventy
fifth game.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
Seventy fifth game. Yeah, so she was celebrating that.
Speaker 1 (22:55):
I saw her on Tuesday walking over the bridge here
at South Coast Jesse Lambert. Oh yeah, they go, Jesse
war I was reading Jesse Lampe down here. Jesse Wardlow
did not wave her down. She was locked in on something.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
Yeah, she didn't recognize Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:08):
Well why would she recognize me?
Speaker 4 (23:10):
Everyone knows you on the internet.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
I think she watches afl W.
Speaker 3 (23:12):
Yeah yeah, yeah, maybe maybe, but yeah, as you mentioned,
Wardlow was absolutely contested marking Clinic genuinely. They changed the
matchup three times out the game, and every time she
was just taken absolute big clunks, kick three goals, could
have had a few more.
Speaker 4 (23:25):
She kicked three goals too, and then combining.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
With Richards, they had five goals and forty one disposals,
both playing pretty much half forward.
Speaker 4 (23:33):
That's insane for the for the forwards, and I want
to ask you guys a question. If they can find their.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
Best footy consistency consistently, are the Saints a real dark
horse maybe this year or next year, because at their
best they look unstoppable, but just don't see it often enough.
Speaker 4 (23:47):
No, no, oh that was quick answer.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
I think I need to see a little bit more. Yeah,
make you a call like that. Yeah, we haven't seen
much of it this season, and I think they like
to capitalize on injured team.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
Also mentioned also have a complete bozo game in them
now and then they do pumped off the game. You're like,
what is going on here?
Speaker 4 (24:05):
Yeah, they do. Absolutely. Bonty two good. She was solid.
Speaker 3 (24:08):
She really brought the pressure in the first half and
then it sort of disappeared from all their players in
the second half. But it was really tough in the
first quarter. Two major injuries to the Bruges and Georgia
G so good news. Alex said that before the show
that Georgia G was cleared of anything to do with
her neck, because it was really worried anything with the
neck do as really worried about, but apparently she's been
clear of anything serious there.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
We potentially could play this weekend too, which that's very
good for the I wouldn't be risking the flight to Perth.
Speaker 4 (24:34):
That's just me. That's honestly fair. Maybe can get a
real yeah, fair enough, fair enough.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
Steph Wales one positive, a few Positiveste Wales.
Speaker 4 (24:44):
I don't know which which one of her nickname is
killer Whale or.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
Because yeah, the sister had another name.
Speaker 4 (24:51):
I think she might be the Killer Whale, but I
actually love that nickname. She had eight indisposals, ten tackles,
five clearances and twenty four hitouts as a ruckman.
Speaker 3 (24:57):
She's pretty much playing like a midfielder, which is what
you want to see. But yeah, it wasn't a good
day for the Bombers. Also, you talked about Jamie Lamber
before there was a big dump tackle on body too good. Look,
obviously we don't like seeing the tackles, but has this
got to be a suspension or is it a bit
of a soft landing?
Speaker 4 (25:12):
So she might get away.
Speaker 1 (25:13):
Only got two weeks for a lesser tackles, so I
think Jamie Lambert's looking at two weeks as well.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
Two weeks yeah, I think possibly one week. Just the
way I don't know the action of when Bonnie went
down but was wift away and see for the suspension.
Speaker 1 (25:25):
Are going to be too. We'll get that email in
a couple of hours.
Speaker 3 (25:27):
But I'm excited by the saying last week I talked
up the Eagles, and then they will touch on that
they lost.
Speaker 4 (25:31):
So I hope I don't talk up the Saints and
then they go crap next week.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
So what we know is if Stat's guy talked you up.
Speaker 4 (25:36):
Because I was about to say, like, I really.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
Love the Saints and all this, but then don't fall
into it.
Speaker 4 (25:40):
The AFIW is so crazy this year, so who knows Icon.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
Park on a Sunday as well? A Richmond four or
five twenty nine, Gee Long eight eleven fifty nine, this
one flighted Richmond.
Speaker 4 (25:50):
Oh, I know, we'll touch I'll say some positives. First,
chart the Cats. They'd add a much needed big win.
Speaker 3 (25:55):
Richmond unfortunately the only team of the competition with had
a win still which they looked just look low and confidence.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
I'm going to touch on that. And I think Alex
wants to come in off the long.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
Now I'm sick of coming off the long run. About Richard,
I know I said I was done with him after
round three. I don't know how Ryan Ferguson got his
contract extended midwek but that's another story.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
Yeah, I feel like they've got the players there.
Speaker 3 (26:14):
They've got lots of good young players, which I'll touch on,
but it's just not all clicking at the moment.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
I'll start with the positives, especially for Geelong. You got
the I said, the one two punch of the Saints players.
But Maloney and Parry down forward are absolutely awesome. But
like they had a hand in almost every goal.
Speaker 3 (26:26):
They actually might have been every goal because they were
combined for eighteen score involvements and there was eighteen scoring shots,
so maybe they actually did just combined for everything. They
were absolutely awesome three goals three between them, so the
Cats could have won by more eight goals eleven. They
could have kicked a little bit straight up and then
just at leap passing space.
Speaker 4 (26:41):
I really noticed that. I feel like.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
Sometimes they stretched the ground.
Speaker 4 (26:43):
They stretched the.
Speaker 3 (26:44):
Ground the Cats when they're playing at their best, there's
a lot of space and these fours can just do
what they want.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
How did they let Georgie Presparkers have like an open
center square multiple times? Yeah, it was ridiculous, just her
running carrits Ah ah, yep, she's just gonna run and
long to Maloney and Parry. It was just it just
wasn't It wasn't smart game planning.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
No, Richmond looks like they were playing a little bit
too attacking. And it says it in the numbers. The
Cats had seventy two more disposals, and I felt like
an All Star game or an American where they just
run and running rings. They genuinely were run rings around him.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
One point in the second quarter was twelve inside, fifty
to none. It was just it was a panting yea was.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely on Richmond. I thought Sierra Greaves was
really strong, just their first season as well. First afl
W goal, four end disposals, Ali McKenzie, you can say
this every day, Alan McKenzie, mon coonti Ogier had to
high because they get the clearances and all the ball.
Speaker 1 (27:36):
Of the Please call Ellie McKenzie by her full name,
the best kick in afl W, Ellie mckinson.
Speaker 4 (27:40):
I don't mind that.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
Wow, that's the best kick in the game.
Speaker 4 (27:43):
She's a very very good kick. But I said the
two names for Richmond. They were the only two Richmond
players in the top thirteen disposal getters in the game,
so only two players had more than fourteen disposals for Richmond,
which is a yeah.
Speaker 3 (27:57):
It's that just annoys me so much because they got
so many good players in there. I say this every week,
but eilis sure and it is such a big gap.
I think if you just put her in there, because
she's going to get twenty touches us.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
Especially when I was watching the Northern Brisbane game later
or touch on that. Just seeing her just float between
half back, half forward in the midfield soy forward as well.
It's kind of good.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
Yeah, Richmond fans will be filthy with that one. I
want to ask you this, guys, where to now for Richmond?
I genuinely think their list isn't bad. I just don't
know if it's clicking at all At the moment. You
don't know if it's clicking, it's not clicking, And what
do you guys think?
Speaker 4 (28:28):
Where to now?
Speaker 2 (28:29):
Just well, it's clearly a bottoming out and starting again.
I'm not sure it didn't. It didn't feel like but
you know, yeah, they did have big aspirational goals finals, yeah,
which is probably it's a reality check for the team
(28:49):
where they're at but this could You've mentioned the young
the youngsters on this team. This could be like a
development kind of period. I don't think we'll see much
more next year, but maybe the one after out you
see these kids kind of come together and put a
string of games together.
Speaker 4 (29:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
So here's the one mont Content getting her career is
closer to the end than it is to the start.
One of the best players in the league by so far,
and it's still young. Yeah, but you know, relatively speaking, Yeah,
does she ask trade at the end of the year,
does she don't know? Does she go because she's given
this club everything for a few years. Obviously has won
the flag before. But it's like, oh, imagine mon Contient Hawthorne,
(29:27):
imagine Mond Contier WESTC. I doubt she's gonna leave Melbourne,
but imagine mon Content Hawthorne's midfield.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
Yeah, obviously that would be closer to our premiership obviously,
but I don't think she'll asked for try.
Speaker 4 (29:36):
Think she seems like she loves Richmond. I genuinely think
if they.
Speaker 1 (29:38):
Just I'd be looking for it.
Speaker 3 (29:39):
If they find a bit of a structure, and I
don't think their list is that bad. So next year
they could bounce.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
Back, but I just don't think no one would blame
her for no.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
No, if you if you like, at the end of
the day, you're playing football to win, you're not winning.
Speaker 4 (29:54):
It's just not fair enough.
Speaker 3 (29:56):
There's tough for Richmond, but Geelong it looked like they
were back to their best. Obviously it was a ga
to Richmond, but they were just playing absolutely awesome, confident
forty well.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
I mean yeah, also, that's what I was just going
to say. They've got a big next month coming up.
And obviously they had the win last week as well
against the Bombers, but they're kind of they'll play finals
lower end like smash.
Speaker 4 (30:17):
So yeah, I think they'll win three of the next four.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
I reckon the Cats, so I had a look at
their fixture and it'll play yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 1 (30:24):
Kinetics Stadium down Frankston Hawthorne four three twenty seven. Steven
kicks more than five goals this year Adelaide seven six
forty six Hawthorne. We told you you could not get
away with this for much longer, and you haven't.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
No, Yeah, So we made the call last week they
were going to either kick six.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
Or one one, five, two, three four five, Yes.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
And now we're going down the other way. So they're
back to four next week three exactly. Adelaide that their
first win down at Frankston, so they would have been
stoked with it. This was a game very much one
in the forward line. As we know. You just touched
on what the Hawks can and can't get away with.
They can't get away with their forward presence as is.
(31:05):
They clearly have an issue there.
Speaker 3 (31:07):
I don't know which is weird because I think I
said last week they were the second best scoring team.
Speaker 4 (31:11):
They've got some players back this week and then it's
not not there at the moment.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
Yeah, So that's definitely not going to stack.
Speaker 1 (31:16):
Up twenty nine points a game this year. They've kicked
one hundred and forty four points. In fairness, they've only
considered one hundred and twenty six the second lowest in
the third life. Yeah, they've only kicked one hundred and
forty four points. To put that an example, Gold Coast
have more scores than them this year. There is only
the only team with a lower score this year is
Collingwood with one or the Dog sorry with one twenty eighth.
(31:36):
But GWS and Gold Coast have outscored.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
Interesting, Yeah, Okay, well that's a concern for Hawks if
you're listening, Yeah, because you compare it to the Crows
forward line Eloise Jones and Hatchard, Chelsea Randall, their big body.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
Forwards, their midfielder score as well.
Speaker 2 (31:55):
Yes, and Danniel Ponta would love to have kicked her.
She kicked three points and yeah, would have loved to
have a kicking boots on. But it obviously really exposed
where Hawks lack no goals scored until the middle of
the second.
Speaker 4 (32:10):
It was blowing side in Melbourne yesterday it was today
is just as bad as yes.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
So a windy day, especially down at Frankston, it's just
ten times worse. Let's talk about Maronov though, because she's
just a jet and she's not slowing down. She's thirty
two touches, sixteen tackles, seven score involvements, so she was
absolutely everywhere. The Crows smashed uncontested possessions plus fourteen inside fifties,
(32:36):
which obviously reflected on the scoreboard. Yes, handing the Hawks
their first loss of the season.
Speaker 4 (32:42):
That's at least a positive for the Hawks.
Speaker 3 (32:44):
I know that they're not scoring last week, they're still
good defensively and they're four and one and they're probably
expected to.
Speaker 4 (32:50):
Lose to Adelaide, So that's all right, falks.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
People were tipping them. Yeah, they have the pies this weekend,
which is.
Speaker 4 (32:57):
That will probably toss where they're at.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
That's a big part.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
What's the mesh, Yes, well exactly. The Crows. You could
really see their game plan very efficient around the ground
right now. Yeah, yeah, yeah, and the Hawks goals mainly
coming from spillages, so they've really just got to get
it together and you just hope in the off season
they go chase a key forward.
Speaker 1 (33:18):
Yes, if you're a key forward, you are about to
get paid.
Speaker 4 (33:21):
Yeah again Yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:24):
Brighton Holmes Arena Grand Final rematch the first time in
history the Grand Final rematch has been won by the
Premier as North Melbourne were winners ten five sixty five
obviously not the home team, but Brisbane were five six
thirty six. Positive Brisbane, this was the highest score someone's
kicked against North this year. Negative. You got smacked.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
Yeah, still got smacked.
Speaker 3 (33:42):
I'm so glad I got the North game this week
and North are unstoppable, seventeen wins in a row and
unbeaten in the last nineteen.
Speaker 4 (33:49):
Because it draws.
Speaker 1 (33:50):
I haven't lost in nineteen.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
Nineteen games, which is just incredible.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
Like I was, even though it was a Grand Final
rematch as a North fan, I was so confident.
Speaker 2 (33:58):
I was just I was really confident in until Saturday's
score lines were all yeah, and I was like, is
this an alternate universe?
Speaker 4 (34:05):
And then I was just Saturday Sat Day, I was.
Speaker 1 (34:08):
I was Sunday had this Kilda games?
Speaker 4 (34:11):
Yeah, yeah, I was.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
I was never concerned about this realm.
Speaker 4 (34:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:15):
And this is all due respect to Brisbane who have
been good for years and years and years.
Speaker 3 (34:19):
Yeah, but North just look unstoppable. I was worried about
Jazzy Ghana coming back into the into the side, but
she had twenty five and a goal. I thought it
sounded like her ankle injury was more than a week
or two off and then she just comes back in
straight away and dominates, which is absolutely awesome.
Speaker 4 (34:32):
I want to talk about Mayor King.
Speaker 3 (34:33):
I think she's one of the most underrated players, I
said on the runch for North, but I think in
the whole competition, anytime North needs another midfield to step up,
it's always her. Thirty two disposals and ten tackles whereas
you got Ghana and Ashradel still get tackles, but her
pressure is elite in the midfeat.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
Because a down game from Ashradell. She averaged thirty seven
touches for the year.
Speaker 4 (34:51):
Thirty five thirty five, what are you doing? I didn't
even think she averaged thirty seven before the game.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
She was thirty six.
Speaker 4 (35:00):
That's not good enough enough.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
But the speed all over for North and that's what's
the difference in the whole competition hits the deck. Last
year it was the size of some of the players
taking the big marks, but this year it's been the
speed and mainly from one player. I talked her up
last week the Irish girl, and I stuffed up in names.
I'm going to say it right.
Speaker 4 (35:16):
This is this week blahem Boke absolutely dominated again. She's
having one of the best career starts in afl W
history and putting it out there.
Speaker 1 (35:24):
We called this while it was away, Yeah you did.
Speaker 2 (35:27):
She had spoken a lot about it.
Speaker 4 (35:28):
I just want to talk about her again.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
It's just so fun watching it, like, yeah, just just
go pick her up as an SSP North Melbourne. Just
give her a year in the twos to learn football
and now I just gonna be the leading goalkicker. It's fine. Yeah,
she's got eleven goals five The recruiters of the seventeen
teams doing what North Melbourne do, copy them clearly works
with the Irish players.
Speaker 3 (35:49):
Every Irish player we pick up in the last two
years has just been an absolutely She's got eleven goals
in five matches. Kicked three again against She's like, oh,
Grand Finals from last year, I just kicked three goals.
Speaker 1 (35:58):
It was about football.
Speaker 4 (36:02):
She just runs, she knows her distance and.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
She's so exciting to watch. Anytime she gets the ball,
You're like, what is she going to do with it?
And she's she makes magic happen anywhere.
Speaker 4 (36:12):
She's very exciting, very exciting.
Speaker 3 (36:14):
I just want to say this because obviously Chloyd Molloy
had a bit of an off game on the weekend.
Speaker 4 (36:18):
Is bog a genuine chance to lead the goals in
the competition this year? Oh?
Speaker 3 (36:23):
Who is?
Speaker 2 (36:23):
Then?
Speaker 1 (36:24):
I was like six in front? Four?
Speaker 4 (36:26):
Now four now always.
Speaker 1 (36:28):
Got the Giants This weekend I could cash.
Speaker 4 (36:31):
I genuinely think she might be.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
The Only thing is towards the back end of the
season and some of the other big games, I think
there's so many North forwards that she might not kick two.
Speaker 4 (36:38):
For every week, but she's kicking two a for every week.
At the moment, I think she's a chance.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
Yeah, to four, top four probably it's probably Kate or Chloe,
which is crazy.
Speaker 4 (36:46):
For someone that's only played four or five games of foot.
Speaker 1 (36:49):
I mean it does help getting to the feet of
Tarlie Randall and.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
K I think Abby Holmes was on the commentary and
she was talking about Bog and she was She was
even super shocked. That's how impressive she's been in only
five games. It's ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (37:04):
Taylor gats Ankle not ideal.
Speaker 4 (37:06):
No, Yeah, which is a very annoying for that one.
But I know I obviously, but the depth is there,
You've got depth. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:13):
They Bloys missed the last two as well.
Speaker 3 (37:15):
Yes, Yes, the tough one for the Lions, third straight
loss to the rules. They just can't get over the
rules injuries to Grider and Hamsen, which is brutal for
them as well because they're really important players. Ali Anderson
was still as strong as ever twenty five disposal seven
clearance and I really love watching her.
Speaker 4 (37:29):
But two out of the five wins this year, two
wins this year just for the Lions. Is their powerhouse
run coming to an end? Or Am I just calling
that crow too early?
Speaker 2 (37:38):
No, it is.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
I said at the start of the year I thought
they looked a little bit off from the preseason. They've
shown they can show glimpses, but they're good players go
in and out of games too much at the moment.
Like Dakota Davidson kicked the first goal, I can't remember her.
Speaker 4 (37:51):
Doing anything else seven touches. You need her up near
the Yeah, so well, not.
Speaker 1 (37:56):
Even that, It's just I think too many of their
players drop in and out of games too often. I
just think, yeah, that they are getting a little bit
older as well, and they've been up for so long
that it just does happen. I think they're still probably
going to finish in the top six. They'll probably think
they'll end up in finals that they're good enough to,
but I don't think they can win the flag this year. Yeah,
I think they're gone.
Speaker 4 (38:14):
You agree, jous, Yeah, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
I don't think they're making top six though.
Speaker 3 (38:17):
Oh yeah, they might not because they're still out of
the eight right now, which we'll touch on later. And
then just to finish up I'm very excited for North
Malvin taking on Carlton next week, just to see.
Speaker 4 (38:25):
Where the Blues are at. And just both teams have
been kicking massive scores, so we'll see how that goes.
Speaker 1 (38:30):
It is next Saturday two thirty five, so you can
get there before we watch the prelim.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
Yes, both, Yes, I'm very excited about that matche that'd
be really good.
Speaker 1 (38:38):
One Freemantle Community Bank Oval Freeman will go eight and
zero against the West Coast Eagles with the win three
five twenty three, two four sixteen. You will see that scorer.
You will complain, I say, nay if you didn't watch
that game. It legitimately rained sideways. Oh no, you know
that family guy I had like throw to Ollie Williams.
It was that.
Speaker 4 (38:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
Everyone needed some chunky soup after the game because it
was raining sideways and they didn't have umbrellas. It was
the rain game that happens every year in one of these.
The contest, though, was unreal. They were just cracking in
at each other. It was good old fashioned footy. Given
it was a derby, there was a lot of feeling
between the two teams. I absolutely loved it. But Free
(39:17):
I just their pressure last week against the Swans was
good in patches. It was up all game here. It
was something that's been missing from their game all year,
and it was It was a deserved win in the end.
I know it's a tight game with seven points, but
they just kept it up all day and I just
had My biggest issue in this game was the holding
the ball interpretation that we've been so hot on all year.
(39:39):
It seemingly went out the window because it's a derby, it's.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
A raining sometimes they do that in the men's as well,
when it's raining. They sort of let it go a bit,
but they should they shouldn't.
Speaker 1 (39:48):
And across the weekend I think that there was they
went so hard on it that now they've gone a
bit towards the opposite end of it. They're missing the
obvious and blatant, but still been really hard on that.
Oh they pick it up, got tackled straight away. Holding
the balls, Yeah, you can't do that. What do they
meant to do with the footy? Like they had no
chance to get rid of it. West Coast's biggest issue
in this game was that they struggled to move it
move it forward just in general for the whole game
(40:10):
that they really do need a they're another team that
needs a tall key forward. But also the wind obviously
didn't help in this game. I thought that Lally was
brilliant for Freeman or obviously she did end up winning
the best on ground. She was simply everywhere, just throwing
herself into contest marks, tackles. I thought it was a
fantastic game, but Ash Brazil as well. Game went supremely
(40:30):
underrated as well. Just an absolute brick wall all day.
Speaker 4 (40:34):
It was just a classic game.
Speaker 1 (40:36):
It was Ella Roberts. It was the it was the
one one person showing Ella Roberts in the third quarter,
a couple of disposals, a brilliant snap to kick a goal,
doing everything that she can to keep West Coast in
the game, and it was just a really tight, tense
game of footy that you know, the you know the
let's just say it. The old dudes on AM radio
will complain about it this week.
Speaker 4 (40:57):
It's too low.
Speaker 1 (40:59):
This was a great game to watch and.
Speaker 2 (41:01):
West Coast would be absolutely disappointed. But I think a
lot of people would have kipped them going into this one.
This is definitely the game that they should have put away.
We need to talk about their four quarters.
Speaker 1 (41:16):
Yeah, I mean they love a fourth quarter, but they
didn't obviously pop up on the weekend. But also for
free Okiara Boos just everywhere found a great goal as
well to get them to put them in front as well.
Was it the second goal that she kicked as well?
And McCarthy as well, really building into the seasoning form too.
Speaker 3 (41:33):
Yeah, it's good signs for Frero because if they lost that,
they would all lost a lot of confidence. With some
bad losses this year, Could West Coast have won if
the weather was a bit better maybe?
Speaker 1 (41:42):
I think West Coast or a dry deck team.
Speaker 4 (41:46):
Hold it up.
Speaker 1 (41:47):
They've got a lot of good defensive pressure around the contest,
whereas West Coaster are an outlet team that was run
and carry and show some skill.
Speaker 2 (41:54):
The Dockers did have that preseason match up with the
Saints where it was just wet maybe helped. Yeah, maybe
they just had a little bit of.
Speaker 1 (42:01):
That experience going to we'll get to the Dockers moving
up the ladder a little bit, but we will need
to take a look at the ladder. There is one
unbeaten team in the competition and in a surprise to know,
and it is North Melbourne.
Speaker 2 (42:11):
We went from four to one unbeaten teams or something.
Speaker 4 (42:14):
Yeah, crazy, And.
Speaker 1 (42:15):
Also your percentage went from five hundred to three seventy eight.
Do better.
Speaker 4 (42:19):
That's actually a big drop, but three seventy it's still
do better.
Speaker 1 (42:23):
Next is the D's. Who are the teams on four
and one are the D's Carlton, Sydney and Hawthorne. Obviously
percentage they're differential a couple of teams. On three and two,
the Crows bump up into the top six for the
first time this season. West Coast down to seventh, Essendon
down eighth. Then the team's on two and three and
there's a gluttony of them. With Brisbane leading the way.
Their percentage is going to help them this year, Geelong
(42:44):
moving their way back up into tenth. Port Adelaide somehow
went down, but that was because of Geelong's win there
into eleventh, so and killed to bump up the twelfth.
Kyler didn't move. They stayed thirteenth all weekend and that
just feels like a Shane. Yeah, at least they they're
not down the bottom end of the at least Freeman
or fourteenth or West Western Bulldogs fifteenth. G W u
s sixteenth there win Gold Coast down to seventeenth and
(43:06):
Richmond the only team to win a game. And who
to Richmond have this weekend? Please work for me scheduling
Richmond this weekend play since Kilda on Sunday.
Speaker 4 (43:16):
Honestly, who knows what the Saints but Saint should.
Speaker 1 (43:19):
Shouted the Ferris Wheelers backs and killed her will win.
Speaker 4 (43:22):
Yeah, actually the window the moment might get blown over.
Speaker 1 (43:28):
Yeah, that's why they haven't had the Ferris. It's literally issue, really,
of course it is.
Speaker 4 (43:33):
I might make them more fun other than just it
might just swing.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
Okay, scratch that.
Speaker 1 (43:38):
We don't want that. You can't be involved in, like
any issues or when you want to take a coworker's laptop.
Good stuff. Let's get Let's get to the tipping results
on the weekend. As you can see, it was a
mixed bunch. Yes that skuy led the way on five
he's up to twenty three, still last.
Speaker 4 (43:56):
That this proves that it was the top he took. No,
I did it West Coast? I thought or maybe tip three.
Speaker 1 (44:03):
Tip three it's on the graphic.
Speaker 3 (44:05):
It's a tough tipping week because I'm getting smashed in
the overall tips but I've won.
Speaker 4 (44:08):
This week, so that it was very tough.
Speaker 1 (44:09):
Jess leads the way still on twenty seven, tipping four,
myself and Spence on four each as well, but we're
both on twenty five. The big call. You're going to
get there the draw I can feel.
Speaker 4 (44:19):
Come on, it was close.
Speaker 1 (44:20):
That's guy nowt Yes, Sophie McKay, I might just.
Speaker 3 (44:23):
Do Sophie McKay or mka is mccam McKay, okaykay mkay.
I think I kept saying mackay. Yeah, I might just
do it every week. I'm I just up that to
three goals next week, then four goals the week after.
But she's awesome. She had six ten and three on pressure.
So yeah, maybe not this week because it's against North
every other week.
Speaker 1 (44:38):
She also her sister got verified on TikTok last week.
That's a win they're winning. Probably monetize that. Yeah, I
can earn that dough you lolong win by forty. I
was on and then they decided to miss some sitters. Yes,
it's nearly there. Lock results, yes, Ashraudell twenty disposals.
Speaker 2 (44:54):
I think I've I figured out how the lock works.
Speaker 4 (44:57):
That's a lock.
Speaker 1 (44:59):
Had want to kick a goal.
Speaker 4 (45:00):
Yeah, that was absolute locked Carton win.
Speaker 1 (45:03):
That was nice and very nice.
Speaker 4 (45:05):
We all got a lot. That's good.
Speaker 1 (45:06):
And I didn't write Spencers down. I don't even know.
I'll just say it's a climb away anytime you got it.
Best performance of the ram.
Speaker 3 (45:15):
Oh, I'm going first, all right, Jesse Award law. I
think just I usually got a team, but I'm going
to go a player. I thought she was definitely the
best player across the all games, Like she just tore
us apart and she was the difference in the game dominated.
Speaker 2 (45:29):
I was very split. Really, if you guys got to
see this runtsheet, I've got gws Port, Pies and Frio
because I couldn't pick. They were all opposite the upsets,
probably the Pies, But.
Speaker 4 (45:41):
Like write down Jenny and you're like, oh, maybe poor.
Speaker 2 (45:46):
That's exactly my mindset. I was really happy that Freo.
We'd honestly just it was a ride off last week
on last week's episode, and they came out and won.
I was just happy we got their first Personally, I
was just like, this is good.
Speaker 1 (46:00):
I said Collingwood saw it, watched it. Thought they were
simply brilliant across the board. I also didn't mention Jordy
Allen first game back was brilliant as well. Nice that
