Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hello, and welcome to the AFL Today Mega Awards show,
brought to you by Stockhead. I'm mcwall I'm in for
them accountum again. I'm joined by two of the greats,
Marcus Bizano and an extremely well dressed le Mali.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
How are we boys?

Speaker 3 (00:16):
I've never ever been called two of the greats before,
so I'll taken.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
I feel like I'm the only one that dressed for
the occasion.

Speaker 4 (00:21):
To all well dressed, I don't think you get that
compliment too often, Sony Wizard hat, I'm not well dressed.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Abuse him in the comments, please you may you you
are looking at million backs the wizard hat. All there
we go, and it's an awards show. So hopefully not
two bias to the Hawk, No.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Of course not.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Definitely not Newcome's not winning the brown line, of course not.
I'm an impartial judge on every war today.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
Now we we we're going to go for everything, and
we're going to go for awards. We're going to go
for a wall Australians, We're gonna we're going to do
the lot. So there's plenty to get into before we do.
Make sure if you're watching a YouTube, of course, subscribe,
follow us across all social media, whether it's X, insta, TikTok, Facebook,
We're everywhere, so get around us. All right, guys, let's
get stuck straight in. We're going to kick this off

(01:06):
with the brown Low Medal. I want your prediction on
who's going to win your best, your next best.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
And of course a little bit of a roughie. Yeah, Marcus,
let's start with you. Let's do it my best pick.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
It's hard to go past Nick Dacos. I think he's
he's leading according to the market at the moment, and
he just polls no matter what you've just seen over
the past two years. We mentioned it last week in
the Wrap show. Third Times the Charm obviously missed with injury,
finished second and then obviously polled an insane amount of votes,
and then Crips managed to pole over the top with

(01:36):
forty five votes or something like that.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
So nuts.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
I think Nick Takos, he's had another brilliant year. So
third Times a Charm.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
Yeah, I cannot agree more. I just think what last year?
Thirty eight votes and losers. So the umpires, they notice
him out on the ground, fantastic player inside outside kicks
a goal, gets a lot of the pill got to
be decas.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Yeah, and we know that piers that under pole off
and overpoll the next year or are unfortunate.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
We've seen that many many times in the past.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
He didn't have a pile, but to lose to somebody,
to get thirty eight votes and lose like is extraordinary.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
The record hand lose exactly.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
And I've been saying, oh, he is going to get
every vote and more that he comes close to, and
there's not a lot of other people stealing votes from him.
If it's not him, who's next my next best I'm
going with Dawn Dawson here. I just think with that
Adelaide setup, there's not as many threats taking votes off him.
I think, you know, you've got rank in at different occasions,

(02:29):
maybe thriller, but the back line you were talking off
air way that it is a bit unknown. They're not
going to take as many votes off, Whereas I look
at someone like Noah Anderson, who's also a good shout.
But I just think you've got Row there who's I
think equal to his level, and I think the umpires
might notice those two sort of simultaneously, whereas Dawson sort
of sticks out a bit more to the SHOs midfield.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
For I'm going to go with Bailey Smith. Yeah, well
I think I think you finish the season really well.
In his follow or five six games, he's going to
get minimum ten to eleven.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
Votes, yep.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
And we all know that he's going to poll early
because he was the early favorite for quite a while.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Absolutely so, got the head band, the long hair, He's noticed,
he's very nice, just runs through so like.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
There is that is part of it as well. You
do have to get noticed.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
Yeah, and I think, like Daykos, both Smith and Dacos
no how to escape a tag as well. So especially
in games where you think, look they did get bogged down,
they'll still get twenty five to thirty and maybe a
goal here or there.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Sneak a voter. Very good, yep, very very good.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
I don't mind Max Holmes as well. But I just
I agree with you. I think that Bassmith he's the
one that's going to get noticed. He's the one that's
going to pick up their their votes. All right, A
roughie something if you if you wanted to have a
look at somebody down that bord a little bit for
a top five, top ten, what are we talking about?

Speaker 3 (03:45):
I'll give it too, I've got NASA's one. I just
think I think he's going to be polling strong in
every Saint Kill to win. They win nine games, but
that's maybe twenty four to twenty five votes. Could he
snag a couple of one voters in a few losses.
I just think in a Saints win he'll be polling
pretty strong. Then the other one, Ed Richards, I think

(04:05):
he was the most is the Dog's best player for
the first half of the season, very consistent in the
back half of the season, and I think he's sort
of one that he's one of the most improved players.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
So I think umpires notice him a bit more.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
He's led the league in goal assist I think he's
had like thirty five goal assist I feel like umpires
they notice him a bit more than maybe someone like
a Liver on that Dog team, and bon did miss.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
A lot of football were he in Dogs bn F.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
I think he's I think with the consistency Bond played
what seventeen games, yes, sixteen, Yeah, so.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
He's got he's paid.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
I think Richards paid all by one, so he's got
five more games. And the other thing with Richards again
stands outy he can red Hair can kick a goal,
he can win he can win a clearance, but also
kick a goal, so it's a good shout.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
I've got two as well, but I wanted to steer
clear of the shouts that Leo has mentioned for that,
So I want to go with Chuma Clogach love that
because he's been by far Brisbane's best player this season
for you know, large parts of the large parts of
the campaign. Look the only other one in that that
midfield that stands out they would steal votes with him
is probably Dunky, but does he have the impact by foot?

(05:11):
Probably not with the same as mcluggage because mcluggage also
does hit the scoreboard as well as racking up twenty
five to thirty. So I think he's his cheeky shout,
particularly with Brisbane winning so many games that were more
games than we thought they would in the back half
of the year. And another one for free man. I
want to go Caleb's wrong just because I think bray
Shaw had a he didn't have a down year for

(05:32):
his standards. Sarong did go miss like was quite in
a couple of games where he did get tagged, and
you've got a question where he's like Kenny.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Yeah, but he.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Was good in the games they won. And that's the
thing I love the mccaggage call.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Neil has had it down year.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
He's had some injuries and stuff, he's missed a lot
of it. Mccaggidge has definitely been their best prior. It's
a great shout.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
Yeah Loo mcluggage over Sarrong in terms of those two
roughy picks.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
All right, very good guys. All right, Coleman medal. Now
we know who's won it. Yeah, so we know Jesus
won the medal. I have two questions for you, though.
First one, he's currently on eighty three going into finals.
Will he get to one hundred during the finals.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
I want to believe.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
I want to believe in it. But you're playing Brisbane
first week. You got Harris Andrews, a strong defensive unit.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
You goals, there's so many goals.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
I think he's got to make the Grand Final and
I'm manifesting it. I'm manifesting it. Grand Famal four games though,
to lose, loser make the Grand Final, manifesting it. On
Greend Final Day, everyone runs onto the g just before
Snoop Dogg is about to perform absolutely messes up the ground.
We're going to have an our hour and a half

(06:43):
long halftime broke. It's it's going to be a thing
of beauty, a thing of beauty.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Is it his best every year? And it's good ones?

Speaker 4 (06:50):
Yeah, Yeah, I'm going to say no, No.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
I reckon, I reckon. He's had a couple in there.

Speaker 4 (06:56):
I think twenty nineteen at Gbare, I think it was
just slightly better. Look, he's got more goals than he
ever has in his career in a single season. But
in the twenty nineteen Jeza and more one percent, he
had more shots at goal. It's just he was a
little bit more accurate. He finished twenty nineteen with seventy
six goals fifty, so seventy six fifty this year he

(07:18):
said eighty three thirty six so far, and he's had
he had more marks, he had more disposals, he had
more score involvements all in that year. So therefore I'm
going to go twenty nineteen.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
J I okay.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
I feel like this year he's been closer to goal
than ever before. We saw that early in his career,
and he plays so much up the ground. He was
sort of a twenty and two operator for a while
as opposed to kicking three or four. So it's been great,
it's been good to watch. Is there a better bloke?
Is there a bloke you'd rather sit down at a
pub with than Jeremy Cameron?

Speaker 4 (07:48):
It's a good shout.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
He'd be right up. He would be right.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
Up a mother, imagine that, especially one because he owns it.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
Yeah, exactly, Liver and jesse A together it will be
one heck of a day out. All right, let's move
on to the rising start. Now, this is wide open.
If the Brownlow's wide open, so is this There's probably
a few less contenders, but there is definitely two or
three at the top of the leaderboard here, definitely.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
All right, do we think it's wide open because the
same Brownlow winner and I think we've got on the
same rousing stock.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
I reckon the Brownlow accounts is going to be one
of the best ever. But this is this is definitely
not I know you've got the same, but it's definitely
wide open. There's three that can win it. Yeah, okay.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
At different stages this year, I was on Levi Ashcraft,
I was on Dan Curtin recently. But I've thought about
this long and hard. I think it's got to be
Murphy Reed. Okay, there you go. Twenty four goals, twenty
goal assists, the only other first year player to reach
twenty plus in both categories.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Cyril, that's a pretty good start. It's a good company.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
And I watched him live against the Dogs and just
seeing the way he moves, the way he sort of
tracks the ball, he stays in the game. He's quick,
he's inside and under, but he's also on the outside.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
Great kick.

Speaker 4 (09:01):
I love him.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
I love watching.

Speaker 4 (09:03):
Him so clean on deck and he came, he came on.
He burst onto the scene when he kicked those four
goals in a matter of minutes against Geelong gm HbA.
But in saying that, look, I think he's going to
win the award. I'm or with Leo. He's going to
be a fantastic player like all these players. But I
don't think you have the best potential out of those.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
Yeah, who are for the future of the ones we're talking, Well,
we won't go through the whole draft board because you've
got bokes like Taj HoTT and Low that we've seen
a bit mate having. Ai is not going to win this,
but you go, are this is going to he could
be great. Josh Smiley, we haven't even seen. There's so
many of the contenders of the top three or four

(09:42):
or five that we're talking about. Who do you who
is the one you want to have your stock on
for the rest of their career.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
I'm Dan Catton.

Speaker 4 (09:50):
I'm doing Curtain as well. I think the obvious answer
is Levi. But I just think his versatility and he's
high one hundred and ninety seven.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
I think he is.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
And the way the games go right, the way we're
moving is the athletic physiques. They're hard to play on
these sort of players, the versatility, the way they can
go for Yeah, I'm with Eily.

Speaker 4 (10:09):
He just he just reads the game so well. He
reads the ball so well, and he's so competitive on
ground and in the air. Like you mentioned, someone is
height and weight yep, and he's already got the body
to bully around him. He will be his age, so
he will.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
Be a mid forward and then it'll be the sort
of hybrid type and will be exciting.

Speaker 4 (10:28):
To watch a bit of a danger in disguise.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
I reckon, I reckon, they're just breeding. Jordan Dawson two
point eight.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
That's a great shout and there, so I wouldn't be
discouraged at all if I was a Crow's fan. And
Curtain doesn't win because the future is incredibly bright there.

Speaker 4 (10:43):
And they've just locked Josh Warrel down for another six years,
so they've got a lot of young tails.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Don't bring back the power stance, don't curse it. Just
stay away from that end of the finals that day.
All right, guys, they're the individual awards. Now let's get
into a bit of a team a team chat with
the All Australian the All Australian team. We've got the squad.
Do you want to talk about bigger snubs first? Is
that what we want to.

Speaker 4 (11:09):
Appropriately just released the squad. That just released the squad,
so it's the best place to start. And there's obviously
there's a few names that didn't get mentioned we'd like
the likes of, just to name a few. Trician Jerry.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
Understand, I reckon, I'm going to train my wizard at
him for a helmet this.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
I have Grundy ahead of him. I've probably got Gorne
just ahead of him. But he should have been in
the squad rum in the squad they must have because
Darcy Cameron didn't get named Jackson.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Oh, but he's it.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
I look at Luke Jackson, I go consistently throughout the year.
He didn't have the same year as the others, but
he had some great moments. But this should be anyway, who.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
Else down to defense? You're cal Wilkie who didn't get
a mention, which I mean Josh Battle is obviously better
as an unbiased judge. We kel Wookie gets in the
final team, but no.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
He would have been co Can I ask you a
question though, of course you're a Hawks fan. I'm a
Hawks fan. We know as much as we love Josh Battle,
there's no way in the world he should have been
in the squad over Wilkie, is there?

Speaker 3 (12:15):
Yeah, Wilkie had a supiri just statistically and also just
as a lockdown player.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
Like he he was just better this season. Then the
other one goes Norton, Aaron Norton.

Speaker 4 (12:26):
Have they gone with Darcy who's kicked less guys?

Speaker 2 (12:29):
But they've gone with Darcy because the X factor.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
He's missed heap of footing in that Norton and also
and then Goko Stakes threw long in there as well
as well.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
But I just don't know how Aaron Norton misses.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
All these players have to be in there, like it's
it's stiff for loans players some who have to miss out, obviously,
because there are going to be players who will miss out.
But you're right, like the likes of Darcy getting in
and Jerry missing out, even though maybe only picking two
Ruckman and Jackson over him, it's a bit stiff.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
Doesn't the question that why release a squad? Correct? Like
just release?

Speaker 1 (13:03):
It's almost like and then I think it's just for content, right,
because then what they'll do is after squad they'll go,
here's the second team.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
How would they go against the first team?

Speaker 1 (13:13):
And it's just it's more and more cliques and that,
And I understand it's the world we all live in.
We'veor of can't be hypocritical, but we do it ourselves.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Let's be honest.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
But I will say this for me and just in
one word, mine's Wilkie as the biggest snub because I
think he could have actually made the team.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
Biggest snub who would have been one? In one word? Yeah,
and you can.

Speaker 4 (13:32):
Wiki Wilkie will for saying that, will go live on
the wall.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
Where's that from?

Speaker 4 (13:39):
I'll probably go Tritian Jerry.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
Yeah, fair enough to all right, let's have it. Let's
start to get stuck into this list a little bit. Yeah,
Bailey Smith. He is so much chat about Bailey Smith, Leo,
what do you think is he going to make it?
He's not in my team and all that.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
I just think in terms of his impact by foot
if actually he's great with the meters game, but I
just think the mids around him music a bit better.
So he goes at sixty four percent disposal efficiency, which
is less than Holmes, BoNT, mcclug, Richard's, Nick Dacos, Anderson
and Row. The only one on sixty four is Jordan Dawson.
And I'd rather have Dawson in the side of Bailey Smith.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
Jordan Dawson that can go and play as at key
Ford as well when you need him to it to
be better overhead.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
He's the captain, he's a great leader. He's my captain
at least Johdan Dawson. So I just think I'm leaving
Bailey Smith out stiff.

Speaker 4 (14:29):
But is Bailey Smith victim of you know, going in
and getting a hard knock ball and getting a quick
hamball out and then not possibly or just chucking something
on the brute when it's in the contest and perhaps
the ball doesn't bound the right way. It doesn't whereas
a lot of these other players like Holmes, McCluggage, Richard's decos,
they're all outside. Yeah, Similarly, you could say Anderson probably

(14:52):
raw less so and BoNT less so, but he.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
Is I think I think that I think that raw
Anderson and Bond raw Row else is more combative midfielder.
But I think Anderson and Bond can get the foot
in a number of different ways, and I think that
that that that is a huge advantage for them. But
I also just think what they do with the ball
is better.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
And you just see them.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
You don't see him drifting in and out of games. Really,
They're consistent throughout. That's gonna be a tough one that's
gonna be watching. I think Batty Smith's going to make it.
But I'm with you, like, if I'm looking at that team,
there is other players that I would rather have.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
In over him due to their impact. But he's had
a very good year.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
He's had a sensation, he has had a sense. I
prefer Maximes, well, I think Max.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
I think Max Simes had a betyar yep. And I
think that a lot of people read that and that
that's the beauty of what we were doing here.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
But I i Max Holmes this year for me, and
I've watched far more drawing football than.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
I have in the past years than what you've wanted
to watch. What I think I just watched. I've just
been watching it like a disturbing a man of football
this year.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
And what I've seen from Max Holmes is and it's
been it's been pretty buddy incredible.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
It's been exciting to watch.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
Yeah, and I think Home is actually gonna do really
well in the Brown line to to be honest, sneaky anyway.
Key defenders because in terms of key defenders we spoke
about Wilkie's missed key and intercept defenders. Here we have
We've got Taylor's in the squad, Arizandraw's in the squad.
Does Nick Floston make an appearance for the first time ever?
Darcy man Jones is half back in the All Australian team.

(16:30):
Nick Vosson doesn't have one that does not sit?

Speaker 2 (16:34):
Okay, does talk to me, guys, what are we doing
with the defenders?

Speaker 3 (16:37):
I'm going with Taylor and Andrews as my key back pairing.
Taylor has only lost ten to one on one contest
from sixty three like actual contests, which is impressive. Andrews
second in Mark's fourth in intercepts, first in spoils. I
think they're reliable down back and I am going to
Boston get him in the team. In the team averages
nineteen touches, seven and a half intercepts, six marks.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
And I'm gonna have Joshi Warrell on the other back
pocket as well.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
He's had He's had a sensational season, second in intercepts
and averaging twenty disposals and five and a half marks.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
There might have sort of back for Yeah, I.

Speaker 4 (17:10):
Made a late change with mine because I did. I
did have Jacob Weeding in them because I think considering
Carlton's had such a terrible year, he didn't even make
the squad. But I think, considering he's had a terrible year,
is one of the best one on one players in
the competition, and like he just sliding straight at any
club and he's just I think when the balls going
down there safness houses and I think he's considering that

(17:31):
all defense was a rebbel for a little while there,
particularly the start of the season where the miscommunication. I
thought he's a very good shout, but I probably just
want to pip Harris Andrews ahead of him, just purely
because of latter position. Really, But like you mentioned, Andrews
obviously did have a fantastic year. I've got lost and
in there. But there's a couple of names in yours, Leo,

(17:53):
that I don't know that I have in mind and
you don't have in yours, which a questioning.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
About those, Now, what are your questions here?

Speaker 4 (18:02):
He doesn't have Markeine in there, which one's very very
surprised over. He's gone with with with Andrews and Taylor
over Markine, which I think is marking has been older
consistent all year, is in the top all for intercept
position first for intercepts, it's on the hymn or those
two are like battling it out for intercept possessions. So

(18:25):
I think that's very still.

Speaker 1 (18:26):
And you have also gone You've gone the Heenian rankin
route and you have left Cozy pick it out.

Speaker 3 (18:33):
Yeah, so I must admit, up until yesterday I did
have Cozy and Keenan. I just think I prefer Andrews's
ability for the one percent, because I think you can
get the innocend thing from Taylor world of Austin, and
I just think with Cozy, I just look at Rankin
and Heeni and I feel like they're the guy you
go to to win the game. Cozy at different moments

(18:53):
this season has either been stuck on the bench, has
been put deep forward with little impact. Just think rank
and you get a little bit more of the ball
with him, and Hey, you definitely get more of the
ball with him, and a similar amount of goal return
as well.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
So that's one leaning that one ye fair enough to
Marcus will get yours up now. And there's a couple.

Speaker 1 (19:11):
As you said, you got Keening yours and there is
no Taylor. You don't have Gunston. Instead, you have included
a third like genuine key, a genuine toll in.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
King goes into yours. So you both got Ryley in there.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
You both got Jezzer, You've gone King, You've gone with
rank and and Heeni as well. I did you both
picked two Ruckman, So do you think they will pick
two Ruckman?

Speaker 2 (19:36):
Yeah? I don't think they will.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
But I just looked at the starts yesterday and Grundy
and gorn have been so even this year, and I
know Grundy's peak probably higher, but I think gorn was
more consistent about this.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
Okay, would Okay?

Speaker 1 (19:48):
Then my question is this, has Grundy have Grundy and
Gorne both had a better year than say the seventh
best midfielder.

Speaker 2 (19:57):
Who would be the other person you put in there?
That's that's the that's the question, right, I.

Speaker 4 (20:03):
Think so, I think Goran has a major impact on Melbourne.
If Gornan doesn't play well, Melbourne don't play well. Whereas
I think there's other midfielders that can step up. Like
ruck it's a sole position right in the midfield. You've
got four five blokes who are running around there throughout
the whole game that can have an impact. But I
think Gorne. I think there's a little bit of recency
bias there, possibly with Grundy because he had an unreal

(20:25):
last eight. Look, I have Grundy as my starting ruckman
because I think he has been the best ruckman, but
gorn is probably quietly pushed aside and not thought about it.
But in terms of the my tools, I went with
the three pronged king thriller and I just think you've
got a fit Ben King in there. He's just he's
kick the goal on every single game this year, barring
obviously they play the bombs, they're assuming get kick a goal.

(20:48):
You know so at the time of recording this, but
also I think it just it's worked like Adelaide Minor
Premiers with a three pronged attack of foggerty, Thriller and
text walker, so obviously works. So I think why not
just get the three tools in there cause a headache
for some tall de vendors.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
I prefer a bit of balance and it's not biased
to balance.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
This is the first time this year that we could
actually see a truly balanced fall one when the announce
on the Australian. Because you could have the two keys,
your genuine third mid to large sized fallarding Gunston. You
could have then Heeney, who is a genuine forward midfielder
because then they get them in for In, and you
could have two of Cosey, Elliott and Rankin who are

(21:31):
genuine small forwards but can also go into the midfield.
Well two of them can very very exciting that great
loose guys like them both hard to argue with either,
but that's that's the issue, right. I don't have any
problems with either of your lists, but there's more than
twenty two players in there if I can bine them.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
So they're the issues we're going to have. I still
don't understand a world.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
In which Willie, Sherry and Norton don't make the forty four.

Speaker 4 (21:56):
I did have bazin there. We were mentioning before. I
did have Yes on the bench. So yeah, and he's
also going to be winning a couple of other awards
which coming up. Lads, do you know what the asex means?

Speaker 2 (22:08):
Mate? Of course? And in fact, i'll let Marcus explain.

Speaker 4 (22:11):
I throw me under the bustle, yo, be honest, I
have no clue. Oh what a surprise. It's actually the
Australian Securities Exchanged. Ah. Well, I'll speak for Marcus on
that one and say I'm pretty clueless with that stuff. Well,
lucky for you. Stockhead is a free website which gives
you punting stock advice through the ax. Where can we
check him out? Check him out vice dockhead dot com
dot you But to have.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
A look at best recruit then, guys, I will start
with you.

Speaker 3 (22:34):
I'm going with Matt Kennedy and this one, I think
since he sort of came over from Carton he was
a bit lost, didn't really know his role and he
founded at the Dogs averaging twenty three touches, five tackles,
five clearances and that's twenty one goals this season. That's
just a balanced half forward midfielder knows his role and
he's founded at the Dogs. And he's also had nineteen
goal assists.

Speaker 2 (22:54):
So sharing the love as well.

Speaker 4 (22:56):
And I just want to give a bit of an
unbiased shout out to Josh Battle.

Speaker 2 (23:00):
There's a little unvice.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
He just locked down the key defend every week he's
done his bit.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
Do you go fair?

Speaker 1 (23:08):
I mean he've made the squad and he's made Hawthorn
a better side he has he has Marcus I was like, yeah.

Speaker 4 (23:16):
I think it's it's fair enough. I think after missing
a whole year of footy in twenty twenty four and
in twenty twenty three, towards the back half of the
year at the Dogs, he was getting pushed aside in
that midfield. He's getting played on the wing a lot.
He was getting in between I'd say seventeen to twenty
two disposals for the Dogs. And for him to just
seamlessly fit in and lead that Cat's midfield and be

(23:38):
one of the best players in the competition. This season
he's going to be in the shout for a Brown Low.
I just think that's unbelievable for a guy that's missed
so much footy, He's had so much external media and
outside scrutiny towards him. For him to just come in
and get thirty five every week and chip him with
a goal here and there, he's just Yeah, without him,

(23:58):
I don't think Geelong would be where they are.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
Yeah, I've did just I've seen it year after year
with the Cats. They just find a way. So on
that front, but in terms of recruit I think I
think I'll be with you here, marcause I think Bads
has been the fact we're talking about him being he's
probably gonna be in an Australian, we're talking about.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
Him maybe winning the Brown line. It's pretty buddy incredible.
So all right, next, is this an obvious one, but
we'll do it best coach?

Speaker 3 (24:22):
Yeah, surely made Nick. It took the crumb from fifteen
to first. I think that's the biggest sort of gap
ever to close down.

Speaker 4 (24:31):
Well done, mentioned in the Rap show. It's best of
Adelaide Crow's win loss ratio in the club's history. Are
there any other honorable mentions?

Speaker 3 (24:38):
Though?

Speaker 2 (24:39):
Whoever wins, he'll be Nicks.

Speaker 4 (24:42):
Whoever wins the flag? Could Dimmer be there? Gold Coast win?

Speaker 2 (24:45):
I thought it was going to be Bevo. Halfway through
the season. I was starting to look good. Everyone was
talking about this.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
I think I said on some platform that one of
the three teams, one of the three teams that can
win the flag.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
So I was wrong there obviously, But I think have
we's done a good with the Suns as one? Yeah, definitely, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (25:03):
Not to mention, I think it's a one horse race.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
It is a one horse Nicks. We like it all right.
Where there's good, there's bad, gentlemen. Yeah, biggest disappointment of
the year, Well, you just mentioned Bevo, So I'm going
the dogs.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
I just think that you've got Bonton, Pali, you got Leber, Richard's,
Darcy Norton, bailey Dale, You've got all these guys mini bonds.
Why aren't they a top four team? It's but we're
going to get into it with our season raps.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
The best list, they had the best the best list
back on his issue.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
But at the start of the season last year, remember
how good God was as a genuine key defender last year.

Speaker 2 (25:47):
Prus Jones, Well, like, I know they've worked out their
issues down back, so I don't know.

Speaker 3 (25:52):
I just think, yeah, big disappointment for I guess how
the season panned out as well, only beating one top
eight side and that was WS twice. Big disappointment, Marcus.

Speaker 4 (26:01):
I want to go put Adelaide in Ken's final season,
the farewell season, in Bocu's farewell season. The fall off
has to be studied a little bit here because they
went from second home qualifying final and dropped all the
way to thirteenth. Look, we know how the final season
and the last season, but we were left with I
think we left with more questions than answers about Adelaide,

(26:21):
which is not great. But they got Josh Cass hopefully
better things on the horizon there.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
Yeah, see, session plans don't work.

Speaker 3 (26:29):
We know that.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
You could have seen this coming.

Speaker 1 (26:31):
It was obvious. You can't have two coaches. You just
can't have co coaches. And that's where essentially it was, though,
were caught between two game plans. Who knows what's going.

Speaker 4 (26:40):
On apart from these two wall do you have a
disappointment and be player coach club?

Speaker 2 (26:47):
You could say stabs.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
Has been heard mess injury list.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
Yeah yeah.

Speaker 1 (26:56):
North Melbourne have been in genuine disappointment. They were the
team that were meant to improve. They have shown no
improvement and they've just handed Richmond a second top five
draft pick.

Speaker 2 (27:06):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (27:07):
And for Richmond to do what they did with their
list and their coach versus North Melbourne to do what
they did with their list in their coach makes no sense.
So North Melbourne for me, I don't want to kick
them while they're down, but occasionally you deserve.

Speaker 2 (27:22):
It, all right, guys, back to the positive best game
of the year there's a few here.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
Look Pies Freo around nineteen I think gets a shout
out for me. Great comeback from Freo and the last
final minutes in that were sensational, some of the most
grim football you've seen this year. But my vote's going
to go to Pies Cats in Round eight. It was
the crisp after the Sirens shot that missed, but that
was just sort of Geelong had the game done. I
stopped checking the scores, it was over and then all

(27:52):
of a sudden, the Pies from nowhere make make the
game out of it, make it exciting, and the last
wine shot from is just missing. But what that was
just a fantastic kicks that that's everyone's best. That was
his record breaking game. It was written in the stars.

Speaker 4 (28:10):
It was almost it's a little bit of match fixing.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
I'm just.

Speaker 4 (28:14):
It was written in the stars. It was a perfect story.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
What about you, Marcus.

Speaker 4 (28:18):
I just think if you're going to look from the
very first siren to the last, every single minute, I
think it's going to be Sidney Swans.

Speaker 2 (28:26):
That was such a good game.

Speaker 4 (28:27):
That was one of the best, Like you had it
written down there as well. But sorry to steal the
thunder momentum swings. There was goals from everywhere. There was
great goals. Darcy started like a house on fire and
trading blows at either end. Norton was having to go.
There was a bit of biff in there as well.
There was a lot on there. Robin Francis were going out.

(28:47):
It weren't because the Dogs at the time. It did
seem like a must win sort of game for the Dogs.
It was very big. But that's the winner for me.
But I want to go through a couple of honorable
mentions as well. Leo all out Gold Coast first, Adelaide. Look,
it didn't get the like the crowd or the plortus
that I mentioned, but that was back in round forty.

(29:08):
Back to it was it was mac first thriller.

Speaker 2 (29:10):
Yeah, it was a bit non kick for Rankin.

Speaker 4 (29:13):
The non kick for Rankin was Yeah, there was all
the controversy around his goal. We didn't didn't get that. Also,
King's birthday was a shout. Colling would win that by
a point in one of the most quarters, the miracle
at Marvel. But was that a good game. It was
a good final quarter, But that's why I went with
Sydney Western Woods. And the last one I want to

(29:34):
mention was probably Port Forre around twenty two. Fist match winner.

Speaker 2 (29:38):
That you look back on it now and I've been
a great game. Got them finals Yep, yep, very very good,
very good.

Speaker 1 (29:44):
All right, our best moment, our best moment of the year.
To wrap us up, here goes oh you canin'd of
tease them.

Speaker 3 (29:52):
It's got to be nas first in that last forty
six point come back, he takes the specky kicks, the
goal nerves are still to tie it up and then
the sixty sixty six infringement eight seconds left, you just
the set play the goal after the siren.

Speaker 4 (30:07):
That is just magic. It's got about one hundred Super
Coach points in sixty seconds. That man, yeah, and that's efficiency. Yeah.
Shout out to him because he won. You won a
game over my mate and in Super Coach Colada and
captain and he was a Melbourne supporter too, so that's
an extra extra sault in the wounds. But that is
by far and away, not only the spec you to
as well in the dying minutes, but also the match

(30:28):
winning goal.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
It's one of it's one of the best minutes of
football I've seen a player ever play like and it's
one of the greatest moments.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
But thank you very much, gentlemen. That's fantastic. That'll do
us for the Mega Awards show.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
Yeap, as we was saying, make sure you're subscribing on YouTube,
following us on social media.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
Thank you to Stockhead, thank you to our producer

Speaker 1 (30:49):
Gerald, and we'll be back next with the review of
all the teams that have missed the eighth
