Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome to AFL today's Round eight review. Kind of almost
finished show because we are here before the Q clash
because Queensland, in their infinite wisdom, have a public holiday tomorrow.
I'm your host, Alex Donnelly. I'm joined by two other
blokes whose teams also won this weekend. First time this year.
I believe that all three panelist teams have won because
(00:23):
the stats guys in here, because let's be honest, North Melbourne,
they don't win. I'm joined, as I said, by Marcus Barzano,
who had a pulsating win on Friday night.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Pulsating and frustrating.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
I think uh Stat's gotta still wopping away some tears
that he will have to do for not only being
hot but also the Bells Hot Chicken punishment which will
be on Tuesday, So check the socials out for that.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Yes, we'll talk about more of that later and also
La Malali. Just a standard push through the covers before
their by Hawthorne with an easy seventy odd point win.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
You get a Alex, I'm feeling good and welcome back.
You've been away, so oh yeah, good to have you
back with the lads.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
I've timed it well like I really timed it well,
like missed last week after the capitulation against Gold Coast
where I was still in Hong Kong. Thank god, snuck
off toographer a few days and got to watch the
game on the way home, so it was quite good.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
It was a great day.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
Shout out to did the Swan's win because he missed
the second half of this one's game today, but.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
He's here and now.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
As said, we are on YouTube and Facebook, anything else
later those two. So if you get in the comments tonight,
the best comment, we'll read them out. Have some fun
along the shows. We've got basically bang on an hour
to get through this show. But the best comment is
going to win an AFL Today shirt. We all forgot
to wear them because.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
I'm saving it for Tuesday.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Saving it for Tuesday. Okay, I've been away for two weeks.
I don't know what is going on. Did this one's win?
Thank Christ for the stats. Boy, you guys didn't do
the cinnamon challenge. I personally voted for that. I'm very disappointed.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
I think we all did. I think this old couch did. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Okay, so we got out voted by a lot of
people there, but I said round eight is almost done.
So if you are watching along on YouTube or Facebook,
please get along to our Twitter and TikTok and follow
us there as well well. And if you are on YouTube,
make sure you hit the subscribe and notifications bell so
anytime we do a video, it does come up on
your feed. Tonight, we will be doing the ladder check
after this, so we will be back after the Q
(02:12):
clash to wrap that up and do the ladder check.
So for people who are currently listening to this or
watching this on Monday morning, we're gonna be doing it
like four hours time. So we've got all of that
going on, but we might as well rip straight into
the Round seven results.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
We've got it now.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
This could go absolutely anywhere. Round seven. I said earlier
in the week that Thursday and Friday could be the
worst Thursday and Friday ever.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
It didn't let me down because it absolutely was.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Where on Thursday night, Zach Merritt held on nine to
eleven sixty five to North Melbourne nine eight sixty two.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Get into it, Marcus, do we have to cover this game?
I mean, do we have to? Can we just skip
to I think the footy started on Saturday at Mars
stadium in Bala.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
The first quarter though, start the first quarter started on
follow that, I'm like, oh, here we go.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
We could win this game by ten goals. Beautiful, It's
going to be an easy watch. And then basically as
soon as our work game got to the game, that's
when it started going downhill.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
So I reckon.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
I only saw about five Essendon goals for the entire game.
That's pretty great. Started well, we only kicked three after
quarter time. But how do you win a game of
football by I only kicking three goals after quarter time?
Speaker 2 (03:20):
I think it was one and you played North Melbourne.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
They were a lot of points. I feel like Essend
had missed some really gettable shots late in the game.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
You know, it's a game that isn't filled with many
hearts because it wasn't the game I was covering this weekend.
I watched the Ko Mini where half of the Ka
minie is the first quarter and they show behind.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
Yeah yeah, geez, I don't know they showed behind.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
Well, if you've seen my social clip on TikTok where
I wore the Essendon do.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
They were.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
I was basically like that. I was playing under ten
footy for a majority of the game.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
It was.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
It was a bit of a poor watch until the
last final moments. North Melbourne credit to them actually played
quite well, probably deserve the win. Got on toping clearances
inside fifties, beat US at our own game, but they
just couldn't I get over the line with Zach Merritt,
the man stepping up, particularly in the final quarter, winning
a loose ball Langford and up missing, but also taking
inter set marks and defense.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
Yeah, he was everywhere. Yeah, he was just everywhere. And
just is he leading the Brownlow? No? Right now he
could be because who else is getting votes for us? Awsome?
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (04:18):
I was going to say Jordan Dawson. He got three yesterday.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
He had two average weeks, but he started off the
season on five. But your injury list as a Bombers fan,
it's really starting to pile up now.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
It is starting to poll up. We're going to get
some players back. But obviously the Harry Jones won. They
actually showed that because lucky that was only a dissccasion,
didn't do anything bad. Ye really again another soft tissue. Yeah,
that seven year contract looks good right about now. Kane
Corn's very happy. I was just going to pay for
all the surgeries really the hamstring and also a Gresham
(04:52):
had had a little h I think it was a
hamstring injury as well. And not only did we SUP
for injuries North Jackson archer yep.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
As well, weeks for a Hammi's brutal. That's a big one.
That couldn't he couldn't even move his leg. That's when
you know.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
It's I just want to talk about the what is
it finnbar Malley shot on golf.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
Call play on him, but it's definitely he went well
over thirty. I can see the clock on the ground player.
Yeah right.
Speaker 4 (05:18):
The North made I was with said he's going to
get called to play on him. I know it's it's
such a sad moment for him because he'd got in
such a good position.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
He looks good, yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
Contested marks, he's got great reach. They call him the Moose.
That's got to be very happy with him. I think
if you're a North fan again, you lose, and you know,
you bring in the likes of Parker and Darling to
help you win these games, and they still lose.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
But Finn by melee is a positive.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
I reckon this one's win is right. The Jones footage
reminding him of Nathan Brown's broken leg. Absolutely, it was
kind of gross and I did not bully you. I
just kindly reminded you that we were doing a live
show tonight. And Brooke Watson. I don't think Toby Bedford
staged or dived. I saw the reverse angle. It doesn't
look good for the smell and we'll talk about that later.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
But North Melbourne, this is the final thing I want
to talk about with this game. You are well.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
Past the point of these honorable losses and getting so
close and so far. You absolutely should have won in
the last two weeks. It is not oh, we're going
to learn how to win, No, you just win. You
should have beaten Port Adelaide, you should have beaten Essendon.
You can't leave it up to Luke Parker or Jack
Darling or someone like Caleb Daniel.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
I know they're not all you know, your gun players,
but they brought them to the club for that reason.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
Exactly. You absolutely just need to win games of foot.
He don't rely on you need a moment.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Of magic to do it. You want to see you
do it. Did it?
Speaker 1 (06:35):
Zach Merritt gut running end to end. That whole last
quarter got Essendon over the line. Maybe Canekorns could be
onto something. Twenty nine touches one uncontested for Sheeaesel. Where
was his gut running all night? I Fossil thought he
played quite well. He didn't play well, but I'm just
I'm saying, you look at the difference between Zach Merritt
and him, there's the game.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
I think the difference though, is a few pre seasons.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
Difference is about the almost three hundred games. Two hundred games,
two hundred games had to say he's been around that long. Yeah,
Kang of TV, we find new new ways to lose
almost every week.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
Yeah, it's always. It's always the first quarter as well.
Nor Melbourne, they started off and then the damage is done.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
It was the same with it happened a few weeks
ago when they got blown out by this ones as well.
They would just slow off the market just getting going.
But once things click, there's enough there to be excited.
After the last few weeks, I think it's not it's
not great, but it's also not a good sign for Usendon.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
No, definitely not like a lot of the players that
you think we need to stand up in like moments
throughout that game, like you're talking about your Durhams and.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Even Peter Wright had a few shots in this. Peter
Wright was un characteristically you're still a bottom sixteen. Oh yeah,
I'm not.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
I'm not saying anything better, but it's another take the
four points and we got swarm.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
We got you guys.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
Yeah you're gonna get thumped and North Melbourne fans, as
said by Kang of TV, shout shout out to our
they find new ways to lose.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
They're just hurt. They're honestly hurt.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Friday night, as if Thursday couldn't get any worse, Friday
decided to find a way to top it as Sint
Kilda fourteen ten ninety four defeated Free oh five goals
three thirty three at halftime. Freemantill have their third a
lower score in the history of their club, not including
the short and COVID quarters.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
One goal oh one go one, one goal one go one.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
You can't forget about the point and actually I think
we need to give a roundom appause to free Man
or good job Free.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
They beat Cooper Sharman by seven points. Great effort to.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
Face he's a baller, so that's I really rate Cooper
Sharmon and we can talk about him first if we'd
like four goals too.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
He's snapping the thirty sally for that one. Yeah, AKA,
like I loved it.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
He's just he's a bit of a wily forward I
reckon like gets in the right spots, good leap, very athletic,
good kick for goal. You know he's not going to
put pressure on will be a you know, speedster down there,
but he does enough. And I would like to see
him and King play together, but King is obviously killed
a better.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
Off without King.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
Yes, I don't think Kings is that good. We're considering
he's always injured anyway, it doesn't help.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
I've kind of forgotten him to be honest, like how
he plays.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
But you just have a look sint Kilda wanted the
footy more belt at Frey around the contest. They won
the clearance count fifty to twenty two clearances and contested
footy they won by about forty.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
Eight as well.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Like Freemantle and sin Kilda should not be playing on
a Thursday or Friday night prime time for the rest.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
Of the year. YEP, agreed. It's it's really interesting with
the Saints. You look bick back last two weeks, especially
two weeks ago against the Dogs, could not buy a clearance.
And then two weeks later it's the exact opposite Freemantle,
who are not who slouchers in the midfield.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
Where you've got Brayshaw, you got Sarrong. I know Young
got injured, but he's in there, you've got shy Bolton
going through there. It's astounding to me that they win
the clearance count by that much.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
Yeah, but it shows the Dockers are reliant on too
few players to actually win win games. It's like if
you shut down Brayshaw and so wrong, you're going to
beat them Because Hayden Young spending more time on the
injured list at the moment than he is out on
the field. Jordan Clark isn't there, and then you look
at the Ford line, it's like shy Bolton. For all
the hype and fanfare that we talked about him in
the off season, he's you know, promised the world delivered
(10:07):
an Atlas. So far he's shown us some flare, but
it's more sizzled than steak Gi and Miss can't get
near the footy.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
Well he was, he was the one tall. Yeah, kicked
a couple and then that's it.
Speaker 1 (10:16):
When he's standing up, it's like, oh okay, he's finally
finding the footy. And my favorite player Dick's cyclone. Okay,
Josh Tracy like just was a visible nowhere near it.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
Wilkie was fantastic one in my thought, not only kept
Tracy at zero goals, but he had I.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
Think twenty four disposals himself.
Speaker 4 (10:31):
It was your twenty four disposals fourteen, Mark, So it
was a very good performance by.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
And Mark Jones.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
Well, you get the Saints again on Friday night. Yes,
I believe it's the celebration game against Carlton because they're.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
The home team.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
It's called the td K Bowl in all honesty, so
the G as well, what would you ask for that
picture to be against Carlton at the G because you
had it against Collingwold last year and you don't want
it against them again.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Well I beat Collingland, so yeah, I did. This one's win.
This is smart.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
So what's Freemantle's version of the thirty eighth parallel any
thing east of Adelaide?
Speaker 2 (11:01):
They've won, They've.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
Won three their games in Perth, they've won a game
in Adelaide, and they've not won anywhere else and they
did lose to the Swans in Perth. Obviously in Adelaide
was Richmond. Anything east of Adelaide is what frios parallel is.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
Right now, the right side of the tic tac toe
board isn't looking to Yeah, good for them.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
But it's also like justin longviel Pre says, oh we
just played a vanilla brand of footy.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
Yeah you still are.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
And Simon Galli, CEO Freemantle, who unequivocally said that long
Muil will be in charge around one next year. You
can still change your mind, mate, you can still change
your mind. That was one of the worst off season contract.
Weirdest contract extension. No, this was a comment before the game.
This is takes it age terribly like that.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
Yeah, but yeah, even even throughout this year, I didn't
see enough signs and pre season that hold on, they're
never They're never going to be a premiership contunt.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
They are. They utter frauds. And I'll say right now,
will not win the Grand Final this year?
Speaker 2 (11:54):
Done? Yeah, they're done.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Fan bases and Kilda, we've got them, got them in
the comments, they're happy, they're like, great, we're still winning
games of footy. A couple of weeks will look bad
and then we'll pop up and win every third or
fourth week, just to show you that we can do it.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
But we're taking for Tazzi to get more draft.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
Picks in and free I'll just like, oh yeah, this
ain't good.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
Yeah, Freir fans, I don't think they can trust their
own team at the moment.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
Now let's get across the bailey Smith's favorite ground. Mass
thirty month Saturday, Western Bulldogs one thirty one defeated another
team who are absolutely positively not going to win the
Grand Final this year, Port Adelaide five eleven forty one
bevo in all.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
The power going to make finals. They're not going to
make formals, So how are they going to make the
Green one? Well, I said they wouldn't make finals at
the start of the year, so I'm on board. We've
got to kick this off by saying are the Dogs
sneaky Premiership contenders?
Speaker 2 (12:42):
Yes? Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 4 (12:43):
They're in the best four sides right now. Yep, they're
playing some good football. Something going on at the kennel.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
Now, if the Dogs can go up to Darwin next
week and beat Gold Coast, they will go into flag
hunting in the power I think I've got them in
the top six chase for now.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
Yeah, with Adelaide and a couple of other teams.
Speaker 3 (13:02):
Yeah, but yeah, I think I think they're probably the
second best team in the competition at the moment.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Yeah, in the top two for me. Yeah, I think so.
Speaker 3 (13:09):
And that's come from not only the Bond being back,
but also just goals from midfield in general. The new
look midfield of Richard's liber Bond.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
It's revitalized. Fraser going in there, many bonds.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
What happens when you get rid of Caleb Daniel, Caleb Daniels,
mccra Playlfe.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
And Chi Law just coming back. He like he had
twenty seven and a goal. He was great, but because
everyone else was so good, you didn't even notice him.
In One of those men who were so good, it
was Tim English just around the ground.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
I think he loves Tinglish.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
Yeah, if he can do that for the rest of
the year, the Dogs are probably third pick, like instantly,
just bang, they're their third pick. If you get Sam
Darcy back into the back end of the year, they're
probably almost top maybe maybe top pick.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
Like if they get it all going well.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
Last year, they were probably a top four side they
didn't get going to round sixteen. And this is me
saying it. I flipped my script on the Dogs. I'm
chips in on them, ye all, Bebo.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
I guess Dogs fans must be zipping the lips at
the moment.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
Because they wanted Bevo out before. But now we asked
them that question. Now you be in.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
But you also look at from the Port Adelaide side
of things, like how they've gone the last few weeks
from belting Hawthorne looking like a premiership contender, going to
Sydney and beating the Swans at the SCG and then
getting pumped by ninety and just getting nowhere near it
all day.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
You kind of felt like it might have been coming.
Speaker 4 (14:31):
That might be harsh to say, but in the last
three wins, at some stage the team has come back, Yeah,
like Hawthorne whenever in it, but they came back really late,
and North came back from quarter time onwards, so you.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
Kind of felt that maybe the loss was coming.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
I didn't think it would be by what was it,
eighty points? Ninety points, which is nice to think of.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
But yeah, in the midfield they actually started quite well.
Clearances of the game, and then from there they lost
the Zeroon's count forty nine to twenty after that point,
which is just ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
Yeah, so the Dogs are now ten wins from fourteen
games in Ballarat. I know they had the smaller crowd,
which you've written.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
They have played there. They've got it, they've got a contract,
I know.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
But when there's so much work being done around the
ground and you can't even get five thousand people into
the game.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Well, the crowd was capacity was about five thousand compared
to eleven. But they're getting paid a stack of money
by the Baller Council and local government, so they've got
to play there. Did this one's win is probably right?
Porter probably sided with the biggest difference between their best
and the worst, a position the Dogs had a few
years ago. That is that feels absolutely correct.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
Yeah, and they've definitely closed that out now the Dogs,
which is why I think they can if they continue
in this mainiform, there's no reason why they can't reach a.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
Pre Liman based I think the Dogs are just like,
oh yeah, no, we can do something. We get Sam
Darcy back, like we're good to go, Like this is
like don't give kicked Jamari out of the universe. I've
missed all of that in the last week. But I
know he's just he's never coming back, simple as that.
And they can just move on and win games at
footy yeap and Port adela Oh Porter, like.
Speaker 4 (16:01):
At least we banked the wins when we were a
little bit out of form.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
Yeah, but they've got a showdown this week and that
every fifty fifth.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
I just know they're going to get showdowns. Showdowns for
me are like the dog.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
Yeah, a little bit Porter now four and four and
a good chance if results don't go their way next week,
they could slide to maybe fifteenth or sixteenth, where they
deserve to be. Yeah, well, because I think I think
Richmond and the Swans will win next weekend. I don't
know who the D's are playing, but yeah, there's a
chance they walk. Okay, they won't win, so they might
(16:34):
be fifteenth. Then next week.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
Let's go to the Adelaide Oval.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
The Twilight Game has Adelaide put an absolute hurting on
Carlton sixteen fourteen one ten Carlton seven eight fifty shout
out to social goal Span.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
She was on a cute date with her partner and
I think it was there one year.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
Ye the desk Rory Laird was doing plenty and car
got smashed. She was really conflicted because it was a
favorite player. Uh, Adam, can we calm down the dogs
being good? They've beaten Northern Carlton win in poor form,
Saints Port and baller At and GWS who are now
questionable top eight team.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
I think they're so harsh. So I lost. They lost
to Collingwood and they only lost by goal. Publisher have
won that game as well, which they were coming hard
late in another quarter.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
They and the wins that that they've had, they've belted
teams as well. Yeah, so we can we can sort
of if they go and shirt Adam.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
Yeah, he's definitely he's going to.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
So my note on this before I got into the
rest of the game was Adelaide really good.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
Carlton got awful.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
That has to be one of the most disappointing games
of the entire of the entire round. I thought this
would be the game of the round.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
So I sent my tips to Leo on Tuesday and
I was like, oh, yeah, tip Adelaide. Then I saw
like the injuries and changes, Oh, I'll change the Carlton. Yeah,
you tip Carlton. That's me and I changed the Carlton.
When I saw the Adelaide injury list, I thought Fog
wasn't going to play either, and then I was off
for a couple of days and I was just like, ah,
that was a bit idea.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
Well, Thriller did his finger again. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
Yeah, he had more taping than when Travis Klok had
that glove, and there was more stuff on that hand
than that glove.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
It was.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
It was a dominant display from the midfield of Adelaide.
Like Jordan Dawson finally started hitting some targets and remember
how we set it gather and he.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
Got plenty of the footy, but he was just butchering
it all over the place.
Speaker 4 (18:21):
You'd rather him have twenty and kick a couple like
he did. Yeah, I'm thirty and butcher it. Yeah, and
that's what he did. He finally got on top of it.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
But then you look at Alex Nielbull and Fog Keys
Rochelley Rank and sharing the goals, kicking two goals each.
You know, the Thriller only kicked one. But he played
a bit in the rock and his agility in athleticism
around the ground actually paid off. Against TDKA a few times,
so I thought that was good. And you just have
a look at Carlton, Gripson, Hewartt.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
They do their thing.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
They have fifty touches between them. That's really about it,
because it's the same old story. It's too few and
too little doing anything for Carton.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Yeah, I think as well.
Speaker 4 (18:56):
They let themselves down defensively throughout the season and they've
been ranked the third best defense and everyone was talking
up their defense, ain't Carlton, They're not that bad.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
They're not that bad?
Speaker 4 (19:07):
And yeah they were all at c I Reckon defensively
get people guarding like the communication was off.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
It just wasn't.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
The problems were carlt and win. Momentum goes against them.
There's a ten minute spell where they just concede way
too many girls.
Speaker 1 (19:19):
Now, did I say either in a group chatter on
a show that mclaney is not getting the chat that both.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
Yeah, he's been fantastic, And I just.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
Think adelaide they feel like they're another midfielder and a
key defender away from being like legitimate contenders.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
And I don't think they can win the flag, but
they can make a run. Do they make finals? Oh?
Speaker 1 (19:41):
Absolutely? Yeah, if they do that, they will make funds.
But a bit of a watch on them away from home. Yeah,
that's what I was going to say.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
The problem is we see this Adelaide oval and that's
all well and good, but when they played the better
teams Adelaide Oval like the geelongs, they lost that game
and then also away from home they look like half
the club.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
Yeah, so that they've got they've got a show down
this week and if they win that they go to
six and three, and having a look at sort of
their schedule over the coming weeks as well, Like then
they've got Colling over of the MCG big game, they
should beat West Coast Sydney. The SCG is a big
game Brisbane at home, and then they've got Hawthorne at
Tazzy before the buy.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
So it's a rough.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
If they can win what four of them, you'd say
they'll play finals because they'll be nine and nine wins
at that time.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
At least.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
You have a look at the stats though for Carlton.
So this is where we smack Calton. Negative sixty nine disposals,
negative eighteen inside fifties, negative twenty six hitouts, negative eight clearances,
negative ten center clearance, negative seventeen contested possessions and negative
sixty three uncontested possessions.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
They've just been.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
Thumped around the footy and everywhere all over the park
and it shows in the scoreline thirty shots to fifteen.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
Negative negative there negative fifteen shots.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
Yeah, as I mentioned, they just they let themselves down.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
They were battered everywhere around the ball. Weren't they are.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
We're the point where we just say they are not
good and they think they are, but they're not.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
I don't think they're good. That win against Geelong is
confusing paper over the crowd.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
Yeah, but that's you see that in so many competitions sometimes,
like you'll see we're APO guys. You'll see Tottenham knockoff
of Manchester City at home and then they lose to
Leicester City.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
Yeah, that's what carltoner. Well, it's called Adelaide Leicester City.
I just called Carlton Tottenham.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
I just think they're I just think Colin's B grade
and C grade players. Yeah, they're just not good enough
to compete towards it, like when he gets to the
end of the season.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
That's what I said after round three. It's what happens
when you spend three quarters of your salary cap on
your top five players. It works in under fourteen's, doesn't
work at the top level of footy. Aid of their
players didn't even hit ten disposals.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
Yeah, that just shows everywhere.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
So fan base is Adelaide like, yeah, sick, can we
do it in the showdown next week?
Speaker 2 (21:51):
And Cartoner like, oh boy, not great, no idea, we
thought we were pasted it. Yeah, who's that is that?
I can't even pronounce that blokes name down there.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
Tips to the Q class. Yes, we will get to
that by the end of the show here. And did
this one's win is probably right? Tiger's vest Swans early
last year in a bit of an upset, Yeah, we
saw that, but we may have seen that with Richmond.
Who Richmond beating Gold Coast? Yeah, that's that result this year.
I think let's get to the MCG game of the
round stuff here.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
Don't need long on this one, do we. Apparently the
umpiring was bad by.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
The way Colling seven long ninety there was there was
there was that trip that definitely was a trip.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
I thought it was a trip. White people thought that
was holding the ball. Yep, I can't tackle the legs but.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
Nevertheless, the Piers had chances to win it, so they
obviously came storming home. And then if Chris ended up
kicking that winner after the siren, I'm calling scripting. I'm
calling that AFL scripting game.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
So you're you're on board with former boss of ours Charlie,
who thinks that there's like a full on scripting thing
and every year the AFL has who they want to win.
Speaker 3 (22:59):
If they won that game, because it was just written
in the stars.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
Was Crisp and his record breaking game?
Speaker 1 (23:05):
At what point do we say his records fraudulent because
he was the sub once?
Speaker 2 (23:10):
No, but it's available to play. He was this sun'll
just playing next week.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
Then do they manage him now that he's beating that
record fifty and forty five.
Speaker 4 (23:23):
Fifty run him into the ground. Look, I think it
was that third quarter where Collingwood were on top but
didn't really put the scoreboard pressure on and Kat's got
their chance early in the last and there was one
man for long, one old grumpy and he's.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
Not grumpy, but he's grumpy.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
He's grumpy, and it was Patrick Dangerfield. Yes, he finished
the game with what you have twenty nine and a
goal his last.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
Quarter as well. Yeah, ridiculously like it.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
Just look the footage of him just bursting through packs
and just using the raw pace and strength that he has,
not only to do it both up in the air
and on ground.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
He just he just rolled the clock back five ten years.
How's it rolling the clock back when he's been doing
it all year?
Speaker 3 (24:06):
But he's he's had like one in twenty two and fifteen,
But again he hasn't Adelaide against Hawthorne.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
Yeah, but I don't think he's his third time in
the last five weeks. He's done it, But I don't
think he's necessarily won those games off the back of
his shoulders. Where was this one? I reckon that Adelaide
game he did? I think he did?
Speaker 4 (24:23):
Yeah, Adelaide, he kicked kick three Hawthorn. To be honest,
do we want to chat about Bailey Smith?
Speaker 2 (24:31):
All right? Where do we want to start? Well, how
don't we start about his performance? Because he played well,
He's been playing well this season and we'll give him
his kudos.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
Let's go back.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
Let's go back a little bit too, where he flipped
off a fan three weeks flipped off a fan Adelaide.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
That's fine.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
When Dangerfield copped abuse all game and apparently some very
unscrupulous things were said and he's slipped off. He's flipped
off the Adelaide fan, which is after the game and
they're carrying on likes because they've lost.
Speaker 4 (24:59):
Not mad at can I so after the game against
who they play against. When he got asked eighty two
k at the g how good that is? You don't
get that at Ballarat, he responded.
Speaker 2 (25:12):
It's pretty funny. I say it is funny. I love it.
I want more of it.
Speaker 4 (25:17):
But it's so clear who he's got nothing going on
in his head and there is a monkey.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
No, but it's it's also like he's very salty and
there's some stuff that it's happened that we don't know about.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
This happened to the dogs that he's very dirty about.
I don't reckon there is. I just reckon he wants
the pump people pump the rivalry up. I don't reckon
there is.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
They play each other in a few weeks, but then
imagine how much you like to get them not to
under bond skin, but how much they don't like you
for bond to clap.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
Back didn't really clap back that we just stated the facts. Yeah,
and less people to flip off. Yeah, he said less
people to flip off at.
Speaker 4 (25:57):
But I think it's I want to see more of
this stuff for it it will come back to bite him.
I think it's similar to Ginevan last year, and I think, well,
when had fixed and had thirty against.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
You, next two weeks to grab me two weeks. I
think there could be an opportunity where it does come
back to bite him, and then everyone will jump on
him and be like, Oh, he shouldn't have done that,
he shouldn't have done that. No, it's great for the game.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Storyline, and Bond clapping back is great too, sure, because
that's the thing in the I don't know when that
game is, if it's a Friday or SAT Day for
it's Channel seven, Fox Footy whoever. If that's not in
the promo packages those grabs. Yeah, we'll be leading up
to the game like we're not doing anything, but this
is the stuff that we should do. And I'll talk
about GWS Ladder because they do that with this ones
all the time. This is the stuff we like to see.
(26:44):
It's obviously there's there's some tension there from what's going
on with Bailey Smith and the Dogs and BoNT to
clap back a little bit. It just makes the game
a bit spice. Yeah, there's no, there's no like you know,
you're not abusing someone, I guess is what I'm trying
to say. Just try and make your point where we
see build ups like boxing matches and things like this
is like, no, we don't like each other.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
So it's not like personal though in a way they
had a break up and there's still some bitter feelings there.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
It's because we've seen more personality this season, and then
you've seen so many of the previous seasons combine.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
That's what we want to see, and I think finally
the media is are finally on board with like, yes,
we want plays personal as we're in the past, but.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
No, we don't like that. Don't do it because it
doesn't fit our narrative.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
It's like, I know we need this in the generation
that we're in now, with TikTok and Instagram everything taking
over and everything being short clips like you see that
in the thirty second grader.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
Oh, I'm going to watch that.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
But Mark was completely wrong. It was a brilliant game
last night. Yeah, probably the game of the year already.
I'm still sticking with Geelong Hawthorne.
Speaker 2 (27:45):
It was a bad game. Both teams want to lose.
That easter. I thought it was great, so Mark said
it was. It was closer than the result of the election,
which was also the same day.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
And that's the only time we will talk about politics
on this show. But do we want to sort of
talk more about this game as well? Like Bailey Smith
is having a phenomenal year as far as his the year,
Matthew Kennedy probably second. But you also look at what
they paid for each other as well. But you look
at he's averaging thirty disposes up from his average of
twenty three.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
It's up there with remember in twenty twenty one in
the finals where he was just the man. That's what
he wanted.
Speaker 3 (28:17):
He wanted more midfield time and with the Dogs they
just got such a star stun of midfield.
Speaker 2 (28:22):
And he obviously wants to be the man as Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
Yeah, I think yeah, And we've got that sort of
horror about him. Probably haven't given Collingwood enough. I chatted
about them enough. Like I thought Darcy Cameron was awesome
in the ruck. He was I know that Stanley went
down early, so yeah, that doesn't help it. Thirty eight
hit out he kicks an amazing left foot boo naha, did.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
He mean no? Did he mean no? He did? Well?
Can you count that then? If that's in the yeah
to All of the Year contender, now leave me out
in the week, in the week, in the three weekly
goals of the week. Can it be in there? He
doesn't mean.
Speaker 1 (28:53):
I'd have to watch more FOOTA to remember what happens.
Cooper Sharman, Cooper Sharman.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
There was was there one in the city game that
I can remember that was where I've got an AFL notification.
Stringer pulled one out of his backside, but it was
a fluke.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
Okay, yeah, but still side bottom continues to be goo.
Speaker 2 (29:08):
Josh Dakos good and Pendles is just fantastic. What was
with his like weird? How are you doing celebration? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (29:16):
Okay, it felt a bit weird anyway, Nick Dakos was
even though we had nearly thirty touches, he was a
bit a bit off it. I thought GB no, not GPS,
but I think also this, I'm still not convinced on Collingwood.
I know everyone's oh, you're an idiot, you why you're
convinced on Collingwood. There's something missing for Collingwood.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Really. I still don't like the forward line. I still
don't like it. I know my chex kiit four three.
I just don't like the forward line.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
I still see them as they're going to win the
flag and I'm like, oh, yeah, of course they won
the flag, but I still don't know.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
And they won the flag two years ago with a
similar forward line. Yeah, I think that.
Speaker 4 (29:49):
I think the forward line is okay for me. It's
more maybe the back line. Can you kick a bag
on Darcy Moore?
Speaker 2 (29:54):
Yeah? More about your long though. Like their midfield, they're
finding waste.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
Doesn't They're falling ways to win, but the mid field
never really seemed to dominate and it's not very inspiring.
Bailey Smith has been killing it obviously, but Max Holmes
I've expected a little bit more from him and Tom Mack.
Speaker 2 (30:10):
And you're going to beat Gelong interest that's my theory.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
Well, he didn't have a great game either, and I
think he only had but he only had the twenty
and didn't hit the school board.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
So so fan base is Collingwood fans are blaming umpires,
that's all I've seen this morning on the incident. They're
blaming umpires. He kicked twelve goals fifteen, got yourself to blame. Yeah, yeah,
and Geelong are just like sick.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
Another win, another duve. This is great finals from ye
another year. But you'd still be spilling that lost against Carlton.
That's it could be.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
It's fine, let's get across to Opta Stadium. The West
Coast Eagles did put up a bit of a fight
eleven ten to seventy six, defeated by the D's Mexican
actually sixteen twelve, one hour eight.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
Yeah, they were, They were up by about a goal
I think early in the second.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
West Coast was at late in the late in the second,
late in the second, and then McGovern went off and
they were a bit to all at.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
Sea down back.
Speaker 4 (31:00):
Interesting though the D's dominated territory, even when West Coast
got a bit of a run on the inside, fifty
count was always in favor of Melbourne, and I just
think maybe McGovern going off a bit of an experienced
back line with sort of the likes of gym Be
down there, you know, Oscar Allen learning the position. I
think Melbourne finally were able to get through. As the
game went on, I thought Daniel Turner, I don't really
(31:23):
rate him, but he found some form three snags and
track carried Clary's Clarri's load.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
I thought in the midfield he was superb. But I
think the biggest talking point out of this game was
one man. Can we guess maximum Max Gorn?
Speaker 4 (31:39):
Yeah, what a game? One hundred and ninety eight super
coach points. I know that isn't everything to the average
AFL fan out there, but he was absolutely superb.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
I think he had around twenty five disposals. I thought
that was a thirty five forty seven hit outs and
a goal.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
Does this couple of times a year And just as
I said that, did this one's win? Gordan pulls the
game like that out of his backside twice a year.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
Yeah, but it also stef reckon. He does that on
the regular thirty five touches question at the start of
the year, and his last two weeks have just been
in particular, I've been absolutely and.
Speaker 4 (32:16):
He's raised his hands to the AA selectors yep, and
he's trying to carry Melbourne on there on his back.
Speaker 3 (32:22):
Obviously worked this week this week against West Coast, although
albeit not too convincing. Yeah, he's definitely one that you
can rely on.
Speaker 1 (32:30):
Yeah, the game sort of flipped when McGovern went down
as well, and bo Allen's been given a week for
his clip on Viney as well.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
I think that was fair. He was apologetic over yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:40):
But it was just it was very silly. And what
did we think about the Clary week off? We're just
like I've.
Speaker 4 (32:46):
Heard it's a bit longer than we okay, because I
was just like, oh, they're going to perf Just just
chill out, like they're going to beat West Coast, Just relax.
I just yeah, as long as he's keeping his fitness up, yeah,
i'd say he is.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
I don't have an issue with it.
Speaker 4 (33:00):
I think the importance of mental health for players nowadays
is pretty imperative.
Speaker 3 (33:04):
Yeah, he's in the respect back of the playing group.
So as long as you'd hope keeps his head down
and keeps going. West Coast had enough for me that
they'll win a game or two this year.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
I think they will. They are a chance against Richmond, but.
Speaker 1 (33:15):
That is they will knock off a team like North,
or they'll get someone that comes over after they've had
a buy like maybe I don't know, Sorry, lesson have
already been there, could be Free or Carlton even Yeah,
like a team that goes over there after a by
I don't know. West Coast fixture. If a team has
a buy it has to travel to Perth Sunday four forty.
West Coast get up and about like or a chancey
(33:37):
and they knock them off. I thought that game though,
I thought that, yeah, Marcus, you're very keen on them there.
I saw that Dan Bass West Coast, like McGovern this
is going to get ugly. What are the odds for
West Coast not to win all year?
Speaker 2 (33:52):
I think it was no. I think there was something
like thirty.
Speaker 1 (33:56):
One bucks around for a team to not win this
whole season. Now at the start of the year, that
include did Richmond and that ended in the first week
that Woulin a game one hundred percent.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
Are than Richmond? No, no, no, absolutely not. Are they
better than North? No, I'd back I'd back North to
beat them. Depends which North rocks up. Yeah, Luke Parker.
Speaker 4 (34:16):
Luke Parker and DS fans are like that expected challenge
next week against Yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:25):
That's the thing. Can they lift against twth on next week?
Speaker 1 (34:27):
Let's get to the s c G. My beloved Sydney
Swans finally decided to do a thing because you know
what they do against g WS win win win. That
is seven consecutive derbies across the a f L and
a f L W to the Sydney Swans.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
There you go, as I had, as.
Speaker 1 (34:42):
I said on Twitter earlier, GWS all week and including
their banner. They'll just talk a bunch of rubbish that
their players can't cash, which they should continue to do
because it's all in good fun. You know, it's harmless
ban it's good for the game and it grows it
and the Swan's just sit back and take dubs.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
That's it. And do you have an anything to say
to me?
Speaker 1 (35:01):
No?
Speaker 2 (35:01):
Yeah, now come on, come on do it. God like
my girlfriend.
Speaker 4 (35:07):
Not sound sorry, Maddie, she shout out.
Speaker 2 (35:15):
She she must have the patience of a saint. Yeah
she does.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
She actually wanted me to give her thanks for watching, Maddie.
So I took notes just throughout the game. I've got
different notes as the game went on. The boys on
True Bloods are going to come in absolutely up and about.
Speaker 2 (35:32):
The long run, not off the long run. I think
they'll just be.
Speaker 1 (35:34):
Happy like how to chat with Deves after the game
was ugly, but the Swan's got the job done. But
like I took of quarter by quarter notes, I had
four or five like points per quarter. It's like in
the first quarter. It was good to see that he
and Warner like they were up for this game. Straight away.
They were getting their hands on the footy. They were
good through the corridor and their ford entries were as
good as they've been all season. And the Giants were
(35:54):
really slow to get going, and they were reactive rather
than proactive. And then they were start a little bit
of fights. When the Swans were kicking goals, they're getting
into them, and the Giants were giving away silly free
kicks in silly fifties. Talk about the free kick count
later because it was disgusting. And Aaron Cadman is very good.
But I saw people saying, oh, he hasn't done enough
as a number one dropping He's a key forward. Once
(36:17):
he puts on another five kilos, he is going to
be a very very good football. You can take a
good mark, he can kick a long bomb, he's got
a great left peg. He is a serious football.
Speaker 4 (36:26):
He needs a little bit of time, but Alex talk
to me about Joel Hamley.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
Oh master class, master stroke by Dean Cox. Shout out
to all the people, Oh Dan Cox, co and coach.
Once he do bam just destroys the best defender in
the competition with Joel Hamling.
Speaker 4 (36:44):
Those comments as well about Cox I thought were a
bit stiff, considering it's been six games.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
And they're without a third of their team.
Speaker 4 (36:50):
Yeah, and it's just also like, I don't know, I
feel he's inherited a list that's obviously expected to make
a Grand Final at the very least based off recent years.
He's probably still learning a lot about coaching, So I
don't think it can be too harsh on Cox at
the moment.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
The big question is are you back do it again
against us in the next week? And I believe it,
that's the main thing. You believe it if you beats
No No, but it's winning two games away.
Speaker 1 (37:15):
And also guy saying Stat's guys saying the Swans can't
make the finals.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
Did he not remember Brisbane with two and five? I'd
you either remind him on the show and also Hawthorne,
what you were one and seven? Six?
Speaker 1 (37:26):
I was telling him, Yeah, that guy don't know ball,
just proving it once again. Well, he was our game today.
He was at the Yeah, he was. He was cheering
for the Giants, buying a scarf or something. He was
near the Swan's cheers squad. Actually I saw where his
seat was on Instagram.
Speaker 2 (37:43):
He was, Yeah, right behind where the Swan's cheer squad was.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
But the umpiring in this game, and this does like
the free kick count for the game was twenty seven
to nine, got twenty seven free kicks.
Speaker 2 (37:55):
Now, don't get me wrong, plenty of free.
Speaker 1 (37:57):
Kicks are there because of the scraps and because of
the apps and everything else, and maybe a high tackle
or some holding the balls. There was a holding the
ball against TEENI, which probably should have been a free
kick to heini that they then the GWS then got
a fifty four. Laura Kane comes out and says, oh,
the umpiring is as good as it's ever been. And
not just in this game, but in other games across
the weekend, we have seen that the umpiring level is
(38:19):
not up to the standard. And I don't know why
the commentators on this game were so reticent to comment
to comment on it, because if you're watching a game
and something's not up to standard. You are allowed to
call it out. It is your job as a media
professional to do so. And that's why I'm happy to
say the umpiring at the moment is pathetic. It is
god awful. They need more oversight and not just oh no,
(38:39):
it's all right boys, we'll back up. It's okay here
and there. There are a lot of wrong decisions made
or interpretations made by the four different umpires on the
ground and it's not good enough for the greatest game
in Australia.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
They don't know. Look Thursday and all, it was a
proom example. Well the free kicks, the.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
Constantine just booted it away after the ball was corporateal throat.
Then they called a North Melbourne free kick right in
front of the goal and then they're like, oh wait no,
let's actually.
Speaker 2 (39:03):
Just bull it up.
Speaker 1 (39:04):
Yeah, And then did this once when the Swan's got
one free kick for the entirety of the second half,
like that is that.
Speaker 3 (39:11):
Seems idn't see majority of that second half to this
is necessarily comment, But.
Speaker 2 (39:16):
There was probably three or four times like oh that's
a free kick.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
So like if that had three or four it would
have been like okay, But I just thought the umpiring
in this game was not up to standard. Lewis Mellan's
probably gonna get a couple of weeks for his hit
on Bedford three minutes.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
When I first saw it, I was like, I.
Speaker 1 (39:31):
Think he's got him in the ribs there and he's
landed on his face and then you see the reverse angle,
He's like it's gone under his arm and sort of
clipped him on the way. It looks really weird the
way with Bedford's arms going up. I thought the umpires
kept giving ducking free kicks. I write that down there.
GW West really worked in the game in the second
quarter with a lot of pressure and good ball movement,
(39:52):
and then in the third quarter the pressure just really intensified.
Justin McInerney's kicking this year, oh my god, it has
been horrendous. He missed an absolute sittery. He should have
straightened up kicked the goal. At one point the second half,
the Swan's ha kicked three goals ten. They should have
put this game to bed. The Sydney Swan should have
won this game by seven or eight goals. They should
have absolutely thumped them, But they allowed GW West just
(40:14):
to sort of hang around, hang around, hang around. This
one's like, okay, that's enough of you. And Joel Hammling
are right there have been very good on Taylor. I
thought Caden Cleary had his best game. Jordan did a
great job on Windfield, kicked two goals himself. My boy
Beef shout out to Polly Porridge. My boy Beef came
on as the sub, had a couple of touches, got
some clearances, kicked a goal as well. And is Jake
(40:36):
Stringer the perfect sub? Hmm he could be when you
think about it. Side note it was a beef package,
as the subs today beef packages.
Speaker 2 (40:46):
Well how many?
Speaker 3 (40:46):
How many of the next sixty you win? Because they
did this one's win said, you got the Bombers, Blues, Demons, Crows,
Tigers and Porteleade.
Speaker 1 (40:53):
They win five those the Crows ones the coin flip
for me. They'll beat the Bombers, Carlton's at home, the
Demons at the MCG, Crows at home, Tigers at the MCG,
and I would be at the Adelaide Oval. So I
think they'll win four at least five. So what are
they three and five at the moment?
Speaker 2 (41:10):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (41:10):
So if they win so if they win four of them,
that gets them to seven and seven. With the injury
list in after the buy, you think of all the
players that this one are going to have back. You're
going to have Errol back. Errol's back after the by,
but you're going to have Meals, Papley a Mardi. Who
else is out cunning Hams at the moment. I don't
think we'll see Logan McDonald for the rest of the
season though, So that's the one for me.
Speaker 3 (41:31):
Matt And the comment says, Laura again jumps in puddles.
There's nothing wrong with that.
Speaker 2 (41:33):
And I'm going to go a little bit off topic.
Speaker 3 (41:36):
I'll have a little story time of the time I
accidentally drove.
Speaker 1 (41:41):
No.
Speaker 3 (41:41):
I was driving and you know when you drive up
you see a big puddle and you're like, I'm going
through that because that looks really fun. You there's no
one on the footpath next to me. Well that I saw,
and I was driving and went in the puddles like, oh, puddle.
Turns out there was an eight year old girl with
like a little rain park.
Speaker 1 (42:00):
Absolutely drenched her and then she went to go stand
behind the tree and walked home. I guess, but you
are a terrible person, but I'll do it again.
Speaker 2 (42:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (42:13):
Shout out to Andrew. Hello from Canada. Nice to catch
your boys.
Speaker 2 (42:16):
Today, fan, can you from Cricket Today on Todo Today?
I love Canada? Have been there.
Speaker 1 (42:20):
Toronto is one of my favorite cities in the world. Andrew,
have you picked your football club yet?
Speaker 2 (42:24):
I know that was something.
Speaker 3 (42:27):
Club he was taking very hard. Was trying very hard
to get him to North Milk. Yeah, classic Mark is
talking about. Yeah, good stuff, stats guy. I thought Tom
Green was quite good as well. He added thirty odd touches.
He was in and under the contest all day. I
honestly didn't notice Finn Callahan. There was one couple, a
couple of times they he was good. He had Yeah,
a couple of times GWS got on the break and
(42:47):
he was there as the link up player. But I
honestly did not notice him throughout the game.
Speaker 2 (42:51):
We had twenty one at the halftime.
Speaker 3 (42:53):
Yeah, oh yeah, I thought it was He was decent
and he's he's still very young.
Speaker 2 (42:57):
He's working into his game. Oh yes.
Speaker 1 (42:59):
It was Chad Warner's game of the season by an
absolute mile. You could see in the first quarter that
he was up for it and maybe finally signing that contract.
His mind's off everything and shout out to Don Pike
who said, hey, Chad, you've made a mistake resigning for
the Sydney Swans. Do we actually think that, because when
you think about it, he saved West Coast a bunch
of money and all their draft gars.
Speaker 2 (43:21):
He's actually saved their future by signing for this. Onan's
they would have given up for him.
Speaker 1 (43:28):
It's three picks for Chad Warner and then you can't
get those three kids in that you need.
Speaker 2 (43:32):
And if you lose Harley Reedano scrawling, you screwed anyway,
which I think they will.
Speaker 1 (43:36):
Maddie Roberts is starting to butcher the footy this year too.
Yeah he was he was poor, but he's had some
very good games as well, so I'm not ready to
write him off.
Speaker 2 (43:43):
There. Fan base is the Sydney Swan's like, that's good.
Can we can we do it again?
Speaker 1 (43:47):
They just do it again next week and start to
build the momentum as some of these players start coming back,
because you can you could see in the second and
third quarter that their lack of depth was showing. Mark
Jones true bloods Later in the week, Yes, it is,
but this is also my time. I've been away for
two weeks. So Suresh and GWS fans are They're just like, oh,
we've got a problem with losing to Sydney and we
(44:10):
are in free fall.
Speaker 2 (44:11):
Yeah, they haven't been too impressive this week.
Speaker 4 (44:12):
I laid it out on Thursday as I was schooling
you with my argument, Marcus, but they are. Yeah, they
would want to win some pretty convincing games coming up.
Speaker 1 (44:21):
And stats guys just reminded me. He said Toby Green
was a myth that a Dane Rampy absolutely clamped him
and GWS, I'll say, you will not win the Grand
Final this year. You just lost to a team with
the starting to all forwards of Joel Hammling and Aaron Francis. Yeah,
not great, dumb, Let's.
Speaker 2 (44:36):
Go to Leo's team.
Speaker 1 (44:37):
Hawthorne absolutely smacked Richmond sixteen thirteen or one oh nine
Richmond six eight forty four. Yet another game with many
fights has happened in the Swan's g WS game.
Speaker 2 (44:46):
Yeah, there's a bit of a there's no love lost,
as people say between these two sides. Why is there
no love lost between I don't know.
Speaker 4 (44:54):
Thorn of Richmond back to sort of maybe twenty nineteen
with when Cicily was on Lynch and those who were
having a bit of a bit of a fight.
Speaker 2 (45:01):
They were going to kiss at one point. I thought
it was a bit a bit weird but irrelevant. I
don't remember that. Yeah, but that's what I mean, like,
that's why it sort of built up. I know it's weird. Richmond.
Richmond don't speak to one of my richers today. They
don't necessarily have a rival. Yeah, maybe it's a Hawthorn petition.
Speaker 4 (45:18):
Maybe maybe now we're building it with Hawthorne. Anyway, I
just thought, well, having watched most of the second half,
didn't catch the first half, but we always seem to
be running every time we sort of marked it.
Speaker 2 (45:27):
We had an.
Speaker 4 (45:28):
Emphasis on playing on just felt like Richmond were always
a step off. Even there was like periods of congestion
where we kind of stuffed around with it and overused
it and Richmond were just half a meter away from
a tackle or laying a good block or something. And
it's yeah, and the fitness levels as well, I think
(45:49):
big difference. I want to give a shout out though
to the two recruits Josh Battle and Tom morass Down back.
Speaker 2 (45:55):
Oh yeah, it was very good. I think. Was it
the big diving.
Speaker 1 (46:02):
Yeah, the big diving, the full spray Steven Silvanni stop
of a goal when Richmond kicked three.
Speaker 2 (46:08):
Behinds at one point and he's just like, I'm not
going to let you kick a goal.
Speaker 1 (46:12):
Dive got a quick flick on it and it stayed
to four, went to Richmond four behind.
Speaker 2 (46:17):
The game was done at that point.
Speaker 1 (46:18):
But that just shows the commitment, like this is the
things that you want to see week in week out,
as opposed to when the Wizard played for a free kick,
argued with the umpire, Richmond went down the other end,
kicked a goal and got dragged.
Speaker 2 (46:29):
Yeah I didn't see that.
Speaker 4 (46:30):
Yeah, but there was a point early on where Richmond
were doubling inside fifties.
Speaker 2 (46:34):
It was sixteen to eight. So Battle and Barrass just
to sort.
Speaker 4 (46:37):
Of steady the ship were super super influential Barrass as well. Sorry,
Battle thirty three and twelve marks, thirty three touches at it.
Speaker 3 (46:45):
Thought Mass was really good, thirty two goals, eight hundreds gained.
Speaker 2 (46:48):
You don't cry about it though.
Speaker 3 (46:50):
Yeah, I still can't believe, but I actually really loved Mass.
What a man we moved him in the full line
and he.
Speaker 2 (46:57):
Keeps us issue goalie kicks in the last quarter. Was
aw the set shout from them? Yeah yeah nice.
Speaker 4 (47:04):
So yeah, look not as a Hawks fan and getting
into the fan bases. Just good for percentage, I think,
just to build that back up because it was down
around one hundred and five two weeks ago.
Speaker 2 (47:14):
Now it's one hundred and twenty five.
Speaker 3 (47:15):
So I feel like in the last five minutes you
just you know, you didn't You had the game one,
so you didn't necessarily give up, but you also.
Speaker 2 (47:24):
Leaved a few shots.
Speaker 3 (47:26):
They had like five scoring shots in the last two
or three minutes, which you know that it's a big
change of them going from thirty points to fifty points.
Speaker 2 (47:35):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (47:36):
So there could have been a little bit of love
loss there, but I don't think it's a big deal.
Speaker 2 (47:41):
Oh I disagree with you.
Speaker 1 (47:42):
Did this one's when meters gained is the single most
over added start in the footy.
Speaker 2 (47:45):
No, it's not.
Speaker 1 (47:47):
If you're getting the ball forward, your chance kicking goals.
This is this is when Adelaide and Essenon were going
wrong last year when you had Darcy, Parrish, Crouch and
a few others having thirty five disposals and gaining twelve
meters parish was barely And that's that's.
Speaker 2 (48:00):
What I mean.
Speaker 1 (48:01):
When when they were playing and they were just going
backwards and sideways, you go forward, you're a chance of
kicking the goal. Gw West had AFL today had Sydney
on fraud watched and said, hold my beer. That is correct.
Gws R in frauds this week in the tower. Yeah,
they deserve to be.
Speaker 2 (48:14):
As a Richmond fan, you're probably like, not great.
Speaker 4 (48:18):
The effort wavered when in other weeks they showed a
bit of I guess fight late in games even if
they were getting smashed, and they didn't today.
Speaker 1 (48:25):
But they're going to do that every few weeks. There's
going to be games where they just get belted. Well,
they start really slow and they finished really slow. It's
that middle period where they can look into those sort
of games. It's happened all year.
Speaker 3 (48:36):
But if they lose every game for the rest of
the year by seven or ten goals, have they shown
enough this.
Speaker 2 (48:42):
Year to be proud of?
Speaker 1 (48:43):
Yes, because they've already won a couple of games and
they've had win my losses win they win three games.
Speaker 2 (48:48):
I reckon they win. Yeah, they'll win four. I'll beat North,
they'll win. Next week they're playing West Coast. There you go, Yeah,
they'll win four. How are you feeling as a family
banking it? Banking it? Yeah? Good for percentage. And I
think they're just hoping no injuries because West Coast last week, Rich,
we seem to get one injury. We next week. Yeah, yeah,
just stay injury for you and you'll be happy. All right.
Speaker 1 (49:08):
Quickly, we'll touch on the Q Clash before we get away. Obviously,
this is the last game of the weekend. It takes
place in about ten minutes time, so we're going to
get this done and get out so we can review
the game later tonight. We'll be doing it a little
bit different. We'll be home and all cozy up Brisbane.
They're the favorites up against Gold Coast. This is the
biggest Q clash. Do you want to know why? Winner
(49:28):
will be top of the ladder? Ladies and gentlemen watching
the show, Winner of the Q Clash top of the
ladder tonight.
Speaker 2 (49:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (49:35):
I said on the Thursday show, gold Coast to win
this their best win ever.
Speaker 1 (49:41):
Okay to be so, I was listening to the show
Friday morning. I thought the Collingwood in twenty twenty three
when they beat them at home, collingwand won the flag
that year. Nick Dacos kicked those two amazing goals. Oh yes, yeah,
they held them. That's their best win at the moment. Yeah,
that's sick in the head that I know that.
Speaker 2 (49:58):
I don't even remember. How are we feeling about this one?
I think Brisbane get it done. I'm on the Suns.
Speaker 1 (50:05):
The Sun just that avalanche against the Swans last week,
twelve goals straight and they had no answer. I think
off half back, I think gold Coast are much more dangerous.
I also think the Ford line of gold Coast is better.
I know that who was that that went down? Ben
Long's not playing, is any I think he's think he's out.
I think I read that this morning. I just I
(50:27):
like the gold Coast forward line more than I do
brisbanees because as we know, I'm out on Eric.
Speaker 3 (50:31):
Yeah, I just think the impact of the Gabatoire it
will be too big. But yeah, you were correct, Ben
Long out swallowing.
Speaker 2 (50:36):
Yeah that's a bit weird. Well, Swallow's probably this up
so side. Was Jake Rogers the Gold Coast? Yeah, okay, yeah, right,
there we go. So you're zipping Brisbane. I think Brisbane
Brisbane Brisbane as well. Timm and Gold Coast will wrap
that up in a couple of hours time. Tipping results
so far, I can't believe I tipped Carton. Yeah that
was about one. I well, I got five slash six.
Speaker 4 (50:58):
So I tipped Saint Kilda in this, but I tipped
Prio in another count because.
Speaker 2 (51:03):
This is what he does, he covers his bass. No,
I don't. I just forgot Saint Kilda. I meant to
tip Saint Kilda so and I tipped Sydney as well,
So I'm very happy. Get stuffed.
Speaker 3 (51:15):
Faith in the Evils flog and you got Melbourne as
a correct tip even though you tip them on.
Speaker 2 (51:22):
So who's the fraud here? I put him in fraud?
Speaker 4 (51:24):
Actually I could be on seven then, because I've I
don't know, I've confused myself.
Speaker 2 (51:29):
That doesn't take a lot of effort and it doesn't
did this one win?
Speaker 1 (51:31):
What odds would you have gotten the start of the
season for the Suns to finish on top of the
ladder at any round? Well, I had them starting the
season six and zip.
Speaker 2 (51:39):
I've had well.
Speaker 3 (51:40):
According to AFL champion do the easiest start season.
Speaker 1 (51:45):
I had before the cyclone wiped out the first game
against s and I had them starting six and zip.
I had them up until this one's game. I was like,
they might lose that against this one's all Brisbane. I
was like, they're going to be unbeaten up until the
last two weeks, so I had them on top of lad.
Speaker 2 (52:00):
Now, well, we'll wooking.
Speaker 3 (52:01):
In the comment section reckons that Brisbane will absolutely log
the goldcost Sun Wookie up and about.
Speaker 1 (52:07):
All right, let's go to the big core results side
note last week I got mine.
Speaker 2 (52:12):
We don't care.
Speaker 1 (52:12):
That was long you mention it. I think yeah, I said,
I said the son Flogs didnety. Oh well I think
we forgot Yeah you did. So I got another one.
Pie Is win by five goals. Whoops, Eagles beat ds
You can think cool? What just calling with winning a
game by five?
Speaker 2 (52:29):
You look at your big call? Yeah, your Eagles beat
the D's. Yeah they haven't won a game and they lost. Yeah,
I got close. Fraser twenty five and a girl had
to go nineteen and a l so half point? What
was the stats? Boys? He was Chandler fifteen and three
had twenty six and one.
Speaker 1 (52:42):
I think I'll give him a half of that twenty
a half points.
Speaker 2 (52:46):
I got a half point.
Speaker 1 (52:47):
Come on, he gets a half point for that best
on ground of the week.
Speaker 4 (52:52):
So we're going to start this off with third place.
Ye P Dangerfield.
Speaker 2 (52:59):
Yeah you ruined it though, so third place. P Danefield
you one vote? Pe Dangerfield, My god, sorry, come on,
you do it. You'll do it right. Twenty nine touches one.
Speaker 4 (53:07):
Goal, insane last quarter all right, second place two votes,
which is very, very stiff.
Speaker 2 (53:14):
This is controversial. M Gorne, who was better than Gone
thirty five touches West Coast. There is that waiting taking the.
Speaker 4 (53:23):
One hundred and ninety eight super coach points. One goal
and just a bunch of aura. Just he's got aura
and that's just a fact. Thirdly, and I think the
best player of the round this week three votes, Angus Sheldrick,
t Almiry al Mary t English twenty seven touches three
goals if you don't mind thirty hit outs. A big
(53:45):
reason why I have him over gone is because, as
you mentioned, Port won the first ten clearances of the.
Speaker 2 (53:49):
Game, he obviously wasn't having the impact that he wanted
to against Gorn was coming up against Flynn.
Speaker 4 (53:57):
Yeah yeah, I know. So English was able to turn
the tide at quarter time and have an absolutely insane game.
Speaker 2 (54:04):
Back to his best form, his career best.
Speaker 4 (54:06):
Form that we saw what twenty twenty two, twenty three three?
Which was it twenty two?
Speaker 2 (54:11):
It was two twenty seven and three goals.
Speaker 4 (54:15):
I think I'd rather that over thirty five in a
goal stiff as that is. Gorne was insane, but tinglish.
Speaker 3 (54:22):
Unfortunately you can't share votes, so well yeah no, never
go as tinglish.
Speaker 1 (54:26):
As is it is with the best done ground the
best team of the week, Marcus is. I'm trying to
look up how many possesions Angers Sheldrick got in the
twos because he played VFL after he played for this once.
Speaker 2 (54:36):
Best the best team of the round.
Speaker 3 (54:37):
Dangerfield got the one vote for player and similarly Geelong
are going to get the one g.
Speaker 2 (54:44):
Katz G Cat. Oh you want me to read a
team Cats?
Speaker 3 (54:47):
Okay, one vote g Katz. I just think coming up
against Collingwood, who were the hottest team in the competition,
and they had their their backs against the wall after
a couple of disappointing weeks. Geo long well more than
a couple of disappointing weeks. They earned the one vote
in it too. I'm gonna go sat Kilda s Kilder,
s Kilda, s Kilda St Kilder st Kilder. It's a
(55:09):
hyphena St Kilder Saints.
Speaker 2 (55:12):
They get the two votes for me keeping Freemantle too?
Was it really the lower schools and the club's history
one game?
Speaker 1 (55:19):
We're trying to delete that game from our mind, mate,
I know, but I think they just definitely didn't.
Speaker 2 (55:24):
Mentions are a bit stiff not to get a vote,
and oh spoiler, no two goals?
Speaker 1 (55:29):
What do you do?
Speaker 3 (55:30):
Outsiders room as well, and you talked about your record
against them as well, so you should be winning that game.
Speaker 2 (55:37):
Interesting three votes w Bulldog. This is two weeks in
our own.
Speaker 3 (55:44):
Ninety points in a blustering wind, very rare day to
get scoring conditions at bal Are app Yeah, it was
very windy and just to make the most of it
as the Dogs could, and they're storming up the ladder
and like we said, the premiership contenders we think.
Speaker 2 (55:57):
So yeah, I mind it. I'm a sitting that negative seventeenth.
I reckon we get negative seventeen votes, all.
Speaker 1 (56:06):
Right, that is us done and Dusty because the queue
clash is coming up, of course, so we'll be back
later tonight to wrap up that game. Obviously, if you're
catching this on Monday morning, nothing will change you. It'll
genuinely be a quick transition. But in that part we
will be doing the wrap up of the queue clash
as well as the ladder check and that'll be about it.
Speaker 2 (56:23):
But we'll do the ending then we'll wrap it up. Now.
The winner of the T shirt and I'm giving it
due to pure weight of comments. Did this one? Oh surprise?
Speaker 1 (56:32):
Come on?
Speaker 2 (56:32):
He was the best in the comments? I reckon, I reckon.
We have to have a sit down over the week
and we'll assign the best person whilst we're watching the
Gold Coast prismon game. We'll have a look and we'll
have a look.
Speaker 1 (56:44):
But there's a very strong yeah, did this one's win?
Is probably ninety nine chance of winning the shirt? Random
start of the week's Ones are the first side this
year to win after playing the Suns the week before.
Speaker 2 (56:55):
That is a great start. Do we have to finish
the throw on the Sydney stut them with an essenonce that? Yeah?
Go then without Zach Bert when he would be cooked.
Speaker 1 (57:05):
All right, we'll catch you after the Q clash to
wrap up around date of AFL and AFL today. All right,
welcome back to AFL today. Unfortunately, the round ended like
it started. It was kind of boring. It's kind of
a waste of time, and the result wasn't a shock
to all of us, was it? Boys?
Speaker 4 (57:20):
Not really?
Speaker 2 (57:21):
Well, I was a shock to you Alex too. Yeah,
the sons.
Speaker 1 (57:24):
Yeah, I'm a truther though. That's my fault for being
a truther of the Gold Coast Suns and betting on
them to make the finals and saying I will buy
the kit. I think I could be safe given that
performance that was insipid.
Speaker 4 (57:36):
Yeah, well so in the end Brisbane sixty six, Gold
Coast forty nine. But seventeen points doesn't really tell the
full story here. I feel like it was a bit
of domination from Brisbane, particularly in the midfield, just on
top with contested possessions and clearances inside fifties. You know,
when there's that sort of level of domination, I don't
(57:57):
think the Sun's really stort a chance around the game.
Seventeen points kind of flatters them in the end a
little bit.
Speaker 1 (58:03):
Yeah, There was a lot of junk time going on
in this game for sure, Like Gold Coast kick a
couple of goals late in the game, it's like, oh,
there's a chance. It's kind of respectable when they kicked
three goals to three behind in the last quarter. But
it was just that the game was done that three
quarter time. Five goals to one in the third quarter
really set it up for Brisbane. I was thinking on
the way home when I was driving home, I was like, geez,
Charlie Cameron hasn't had a kick all season. It decides
(58:25):
to fire up and God damn it. Am I sick
of that song already?
Speaker 3 (58:29):
For sure, I'd be so frustrated if I was a
Gold Coast fan, because I don't know about you guys,
but watching that second half in particular, it was so promising,
even all the build up of half back. They were
getting run and carry on the ball, but it was
just that final kick into inside fifty or finding that
target on the wing or in the middle of the ground.
Speaker 2 (58:49):
It was just pathetic.
Speaker 3 (58:51):
It was just turned the ball over every single time,
and it was and it was the ones like Matt Row,
who do you think you'd want the ball?
Speaker 1 (58:57):
In hand.
Speaker 4 (58:58):
Yeah, he had a poor game near only sixteen disposals,
so you know, not to his lofty heights that he's
shown this season at least, But I reckon the Ashcroft bros.
Doeserve a bit of a shout out. They were sensational
well with thirty four, Levi with twenty nine.
Speaker 2 (59:15):
Not bad, not bad.
Speaker 3 (59:17):
The period of play where this really summed up the
game for me was when there was a kick for
a Gold Coast camera attack. Will Ashcroff comes across, spoils
the ball off Matt Row and then Chase is the
first one to get there when the ball bounces towards
the wing and.
Speaker 2 (59:32):
Rial pushes him in the back and he gets the
free kick. That was just a perfect summer for the game.
Speaker 1 (59:37):
I do enjoy how I'm just saying like I'm a
Mattroport saying the Ashcroft decided to go full Daskos when
let's be honest, like if the Ashcrofts were playing for
fitz Roy and Melbourne, we would be saying they could
be the best duo in the competition right now as
far as brothers are concern given obviously we know how
good the Dakosses are, but let's be honest, Will Ashcroft
has something Nick Dakos doesn't have a Norm Smith Metal.
Speaker 2 (59:57):
Yeah, that's true. I can argue with that, but Nick
could get one this year even potentially.
Speaker 1 (01:00:03):
Potentially we could have a twenty twenty three Grand Final
rematch the way it's shaping up now, because I don't
know how you think about that. I'm happy just to
push Gold Coast to the side for this. They are pathetic.
They'll probably win by twenty goals next week in dawn
because it's what they do. Remember the one hundred and
sixty four to one hundred winover Geelong last year, Yeah,
that was I know. But Brisbane they're seven and one
and I feel like they have been rubbish this season.
Speaker 4 (01:00:25):
Yeah, I mean rubbish could be a little harsh, but
I do get what you mean, Like they're not playing
as well, like they're not playing their best football, you feel,
But to continually find ways to win shows the hallmarks
of a really strong side. So and it is early
on in the season, like you just hope that if
you're a Lions fan going into finals, that you're playing
(01:00:47):
a brand of football that is a bit better than this,
which it's weird to say because they're seven and one,
like it's so weird today, but I get where you're
coming from.
Speaker 3 (01:00:56):
As long as they find they're expressive in their best
towards the end of the year, they find that form
that's the most important time of the year. And we've
seen like teams who have started off a season poor
league can still come through, make finals, go deep in finals.
So for them to not play very good in particular
and still have that record, it's only good signs.
Speaker 2 (01:01:18):
It's only upwards for them, I suppose.
Speaker 1 (01:01:20):
We haven't also mentioned that it did rain sideways for
a fair portion of this game and Brisbane were just
pretty simple and efficient with the footy. They got it,
they whacked it along, they got in their fort to
fifty and had great tackling pressure early in the first half.
They were absolutely dominating the stats around the ground. You
have a look at the end of it's fifty six inside,
fifties to forty. They have one clearance is quite easily
as well, but the tackle count would have been absolutely
(01:01:41):
massive in favor of them there it is sixty seven
to fifty two, so it just goes to show they
were first of the ball, but they're also just on
it defensively all night too. It's just one of those.
It was one of those Gold Coast games where they
were just there but didn't threaten.
Speaker 2 (01:01:54):
Yeah, yeah, you're right.
Speaker 4 (01:01:56):
And what was it like, sixty six to thirty going
to the last, So yeah, a couple of a couple
of junk time goals to sort of make it look
a bit more respectable.
Speaker 1 (01:02:04):
I guess fan bases.
Speaker 4 (01:02:07):
Yeah, I think Brisbane and they're pretty up and about.
I think we touched on seven and one, and you're
not playing your best football, you'd be pretty happy.
Speaker 3 (01:02:14):
And Gold Coast they'd be a little bit worried seeing
whether they can stack it up against the bitter sides
in the competition.
Speaker 2 (01:02:19):
They've got a big month coming ahead for them, Yeah,
very interesting. Of course.
Speaker 1 (01:02:23):
Next week they've got the Bulldogs up in Darwin and then.
Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
They have.
Speaker 1 (01:02:28):
On a Thursday night in Darwin. So yeah, if gold
Coast can manage to win those two games, it'll really
set their season up, given it will take them. If
they win those two games to seven and two, I
think that's when I might start to believe them, because
it's seven and two. Surely they can't stuff it up, surely, right, If.
Speaker 2 (01:02:45):
There was a club to do it, they'd be they'd
be up in the list. Your club is one of
them too. Yes, yes, we're not in that conversation, so
don't worry about us.
Speaker 1 (01:02:55):
Let's get into the ladder check. I'm sure Gerald made
an awesome graphic for that as we do it late
in the show. As said before, the winner of the
Q clashould go top of the ladder, and that is
the Brisbane lines at seven and one with one hundred
and fourteen percent. Collingwood in a second six and two.
Hawthorne are also six and two, just a couple of
percentage points separating the two. Gold Coast still in the
(01:03:16):
top four, so they're still in a good spot where
you think about it, because we do have a morass
of teams at five and three and four and four.
So far and three you've got Crows, Dogs and Cats
all on twenty points. GWS slipped to eighth after their
beating today and they're probably lucky it wasn't a bigger margin,
otherwise their percentage would have fallen a bit lower, but
they've got a healthy gap on Freemantle and sin Kilda
(01:03:38):
were also four and four. Essenon a four and three.
Of course, because the ladder's awesome, and you know we
won't have an efficient ladder till a round twenty four.
They are ahead of Port Adelaide eighty seven percent for
Port Adelaide in at twelfth, Carlton back down to thirteenth,
one hundred and eight percent, like it's the most My
beloved Sydney Swan still in fourteenth despite winning today Melbourne
(01:04:00):
in fifteenth with twelve points eighty one percent two Richmond
eight games, eight points. They're happy if they're doing that
North Melbourne one and seven and the West Coast zip
and eight.
Speaker 2 (01:04:10):
It's just it's not good.
Speaker 1 (01:04:12):
Honestly. The bottom two should be ashamed of themselves.
Speaker 4 (01:04:16):
Yeah, I mean we all predicted them to be bottom
three sides this season. But the fact that West Coast
percentage of fifty seven North Melbourne dropping winnable games, it's
not great.
Speaker 3 (01:04:28):
Yeah, West Coast eighteenth and eighteenth for points scored and
points against.
Speaker 2 (01:04:32):
So I'm no expert, but that doesn't sound good.
Speaker 1 (01:04:36):
Averaging about one hundred and twelve points conceded again and
only scoring about sixty it's not not what you want.
There's a few teams there that are worries and with
their scoring too on other Swans can't put together a
big score at the moment. I think they've scored above
ninety all seasons. That's a concern for them. Framantle as well,
of course, but teams in the top eight. Gold Coast
percentage is nice and healthy, as is Collingwood and Hawthorne.
(01:04:58):
So the top eight already getting a percentage gap. I
know it's only eight games in, but that percentages could
come a very very handy late in the season.
Speaker 2 (01:05:06):
Yeah, well, Goldkos could find themselves in a position if
they if they struggle to find some form, and it
does go to the to the laugh game against Essen
and imagine they have to win that game to make
the finals and Essendon have to win that game to
make top four. Let's go. I guess.
Speaker 1 (01:05:26):
Last game of the season at home. The one team
you absolutely would want to play is Essendon. It's like
Liverpool winning the APL title last week. They'd want to
play Tottenham and they did.
Speaker 2 (01:05:35):
Know.
Speaker 3 (01:05:36):
I don't know about you boys, but I'd rather a
Jammy nick Cox pick seven than a premiership So yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:05:43):
Make that where you were.
Speaker 1 (01:05:45):
