Donald Trump eist 10 miljard dollar van de BBC wegens laster en valse berichtgeving. De Britse omroep verknipte een toespraak van Trump van vlak voor de Capitoolbestorming op 6 januari 2022, waardoor het leek alsof hij direct opriep tot geweld. Of hij die 10 miljard dollar gaat krijgen is zeer de vraag. De BBC kondigt in elk geval aan zich te gaan verdedigen.
Terwijl Trump de aanval naar buiten opent, rommelt het ook vanbinnen. Vanuit de MAGA-beweging klinkt steeds vaker openlijke kritiek. Adviseurs waarschuwen zelfs: ‘the base is checking out.’
