Maar Koen Petersen, Amerikanist en VVD-Eerste Kamerlid, sprak deze week op de NAVO-assemblee in Washington met enkele Congresleden van beide partijen. Daarin gaven Republikeinen ook wel aan dat er nog één en ander gesleuteld zal worden aan de plannen. Amerika-correspondent Jan Postma ziet dat ook nu het defensiebudget voor 2026 is goedgekeurd door het huis. Ondertussen komen er steeds meer barstjes in de MAGA-beweging.
