Speaker 2 (00:46):
Hey, good afternoon, Happy Saturday. You're listening to the Ask
Doctor Earns Show. Today is a very special broadcast where
coming at you live online only, Facebook and Instagram, YouTube
and Twitter. Hey guys, they still call it Twitter, Maybe
it's x whatever all the channels were streaming on. I'm
available for you online only today. Why the tar Heels
(01:08):
are doing very well? I got bumped off the airways.
But I'm coming at you through the social media streams
so that we can help you to dive into one
of the greatest mysteries that is baffling conventional medicine. Brain fog,
weight loss, resistance, and fatigue. Guys, you're not just imagining this.
(01:30):
These aren't stress responses. This is not a part of
normal aging. I am going to today give some serious
attention into what I believe these deserve. The connection of
these three to your thyroid. This is a cycle I
see in my functional medicine practice. Pretty much every day.
Patients are exhausted. They can't lose weight no matter what
(01:52):
they do. They can't remember why they walked into the kitchen,
where their keys are, or the fact that their glasses
are on top of their head. I mean, you guys,
ever done this. You often go to your primary care physician.
They'll run some basic blood work, and because you're a
thyroid TSH is normal, you're gonna be labeled as everything's fine,
and often they're sent home with vague recommendations you have
(02:15):
to eat less, work out harder, move more, or maybe
you're even given some sort of an antidepressant which means
they're missing the physiological side of this. I'm here today
to tell you a bold truth. The approach that they
take conventionally is flawed. You have to look past the
(02:35):
surface level of the reports and dig into the subtle,
yet very powerful signals the endocrine system can give you.
Your body is often giving us loud, very clear signals
to say, pay attention now inside brain fog. It's not
a disease. It's a symptom to say, hey, things are off,
(02:58):
a balance wave loss resis. It's a hormonal challenge. In
order to burn fat, you have to have your hormones
structured properly so that your brain actually says yes, burn
this fat instead of yes, store this fat, and the
fatigue is often a kicker, again of hormone imbalance. The
key player in this whole scenario is often a missing
(03:18):
piece that many people have overlooked, which is the butterfly
shaped clan found in your neck called your thyroid. And
I know what you might be thinking. My doctor says,
my thyroid's fine. Everything looks great. My tsh was perfect,
my T four is perfect. But that thyroid right there,
it acts like a master conductor of your entire orchestra
(03:42):
within your body. Every organ, every cell, every tissue is connected.
Your thyroid sets the pace from everything from how quickly
your gut empties itself to the motility to your heart rate,
to your energy to your ability to burn fat. It
regulates everything. So when your thyroid is even slightly off balance,
(04:06):
it doesn't just slow down your metabolism. It creates what
would I would term systemic chaos. It affects your mood,
it affects your ability to detox, it affects, most importantly,
how your cells produce energy. It's like trying to run
a supercomputer on some weak double A battery. It's just
(04:26):
not going to function the way it was designed. So today,
in this special broadcast, I'm going to break down exactly
why standard blood tests often fail to catch the actual
issue of the thyroid. We're going to identify the advanced
labs that you need and that you can even request,
And most importantly, we're going to go over the functional
medicine strategies, natural root cause solutions that can help you
(04:48):
take back your energy. And if you're looking for more help,
above this video or below, depend upon what stream you're
watching on, is a link you can click that will
give you my thyroid healed a self ebook and invite
you to a masterclass. Yes I'm live today and yes
I'm hosting a masterclass on the thirteenth of December, it's
a couple weeks away. Well, I will show you how
(05:10):
to get your thyroid boom to do what it was
designed to do. Turn itself on. Activate, and now watch this.
The brain fog starts to lift, the weight starts to
fly off, your energy starts to come back. You can
get it all back. So let's start with issue number one.
Brain fog. This is a much more serious thing than
(05:31):
just having a senior moment or being just a little distracted, Okay.
Brain fog is the feeling that, like, I don't know,
a sheet of gauze is covering your thoughts. You can
often sometimes experience difficulty with word recall what was that thing?
Like a or hard times with short term memory, so
(05:52):
like somebody said something and you're like, wait, wait, this is
what we're talking about, Like I literally just said that.
So like you have a hard time processing short term memory,
the inability to concentrate on tasks, right, it's staging focused
mental sluggishness, Just that sense of like I got like
oatmeal in my mind. It just can't seem to get focused.
And the symptom is directly linked to an insufficient level
(06:15):
of active thyroid hormone called T three and having too
much of an inactive toxic hormone called reverse T three.
T three, which is our active thyroid hormone. It is
essential for the function of all neurotransmitters in our brain,
including serotonin and nora pinephrin. When T three levels go down,
(06:36):
the signaling pathways in your brain weaken and listen to this,
it leads to cognitive decline that often gets labeled as
brain fog. In fact, many people that are initially diagnosed
with either anxiety or depression more than likely our experiencing
brain fog and just didn't know it because their medical
doctors never tested their thyroid properly, said their thyroids fine,
(06:59):
and said, oh, it must be anxiety or depression. Now
let's talk about weight loss resistance. Many of us will
find that, no matter how diligent we are at counting calories,
cutting carbs, hitting the gem, the scale refuses to budge right,
I mean like right, I mean how many of you
have done this? This isn't a lack of willpower. It's
(07:21):
not a lack of the fact that what you're doing
isn't the right thing. It's an internal failure of communication
to turn on the fat burning furnace. Yes, we actually
have to flip a switch to turn fat burning on.
Your thyroid controls what's known as your basal metabolic rate,
which is the amount of energy that you burn at rest.
(07:44):
So when your thyroid hormones are out of balance, your
body's basal metabolic rate drops, so your cells start to
switch to what's called survival mode and they conserve calories
and glucose and energy because they think that you're in
some sort of you know, famine, or that you're in
(08:06):
like a crisis mode. This change, if you will, inside
your body makes it impossible to create the needs that
you have to have in order to burn fat. So
what happens is we often start to crave short lived energy,
(08:27):
which is sugar and processed foods that are generally made
with wheat and corn and rice and oats, because they
will give you a short burst of energy. But in
the longer term, it's a hormone that's causing this problem.
Reverse T three, which is a thyroid hormone will make
your body store fat instead of burn it. And finally
we have this challenge of crushing amounts of fatigue. Okay,
(08:50):
it's not just regular tiredness. This is that, like many
of you have explained this to us, profound non restorative exhaustion.
I can sleep, I can take naps. I wait, I'm
just as tired. It persists even throughout the day. So
if you're drained upon waking and you require multiple cups
of coffee or energy drinks or stuff just to get
you halfway through the day. The science behind this is fascinating.
(09:15):
It is your mitochondria. These are the tiny powerhouses inside
every cell of your body. They are responsible for producing
what's called ATP, which is your body's energy money. If
you will, Active thyroid hormone is required to signal energy
productivity up in the mitochondria. So if you're low in
(09:36):
active thyroid hormone, your mitochondria are only working at like
half their capacity, and as a consequence, your entire body
then is only working at half speed. So fatigue is
an immediate cellular level reflection of the energy that's triggered
by a low thyroid function. So when your thyroid isn't
(09:56):
working fully, you physically can't make the energy. Furthermore, or
if it's unaddressed, it can often lead to other issues
like anemia's nutrient malabsorption, leaky gut, all of which sucks
the energy out of you. So if any of what
I'm just talking to you about, ready, brain fog, weight loss, resistance, fatigue,
if it sounds like your daily reality, then I am
(10:18):
going to compel you to take some action with what
we're going to review today. How your thyroid is connected
to all three of those, and how if you get
the right testing and you work with the right kind
of doctors, you can balance your hormones back and man,
I'm telling you energy returns, vitality, weight loss, focus, it
(10:39):
all comes back. And again, if you're somebody who's online
going like I just I need some help, the Thyroid
Heal they Self ebook is yours free. Go above or
below the video, click on the link it's available. It'll
take you straight to a page. We just need your name,
phone number, email, it'll send you the ebook and you'll
get auto registered for the masterclass that I'm hosting. Look,
it doesn't matter where you are, you can be anywhere
(11:00):
in the United States. We do virtual health coaching programs.
I mean, I have patients in California, New Mexico, Florida,
North Dakota. Like it's a simple system to get you
the tools and the techniques that you need. We have
to get some testing done so we can find out
what's going on and then we just coach and guide
you back to health because you should be your own
(11:20):
doctor in the first place. So use the link above
or below, grab the ebook. It's free. It'll give you
all the details on how you can start revolutionizing your thyroid,
losing weight and your energy back breaking your brain fog.
And then I'll join you live on December thirteenth, where
I'll take you step by step through Now how do
you actually do it? Now that you know what it is,
(11:41):
how do you go do it? And we've connected to
dots between these three symptoms brain fog, weight loss, resistance
and fatigue and your thyroid. But I want to now
go into like the way to see if your theroid
is actually the one doing it. Because the standard of
Karen conventional medicine is reliant on mostly thyroid stimulation hormone
(12:03):
and T four, So thyroid stimulation hormone is a test
that measures the amount of hormone that's released by your
pituitary gland. It is the brain's way of telling the
thyroid how hard to work. The problem is that normal
TSH means the pituitary itself is working, but it doesn't
mean that your thyroid itself is actually receiving the signal
(12:27):
from that gland. So you can have a perfect TSH
and still have thyroid problems. It doesn't tell you if
the active thyroid hormone is actually getting into your cells. Okay,
so real, simple TSH comes from the brain. It tells
your thyroidy to make T four. T four is inactive
and it has to be converted into T three, which
is active in your liver. So a TSH test tells
(12:50):
us nothing about that. So in functional medicine we recognize
that TSH is like the tip of the iceberg. We
have to go deeper and we have to look at
a comprehension SIV conversion and autoimmune thyroid panel. This panel
is going to give us the entire structure. The two
most important things that need to be looked at, free
(13:11):
T four and free T three. And I know it's
tough because I'm throwing numbers around, but real quick T
four is like a savings account. To think of it
like storage, and T three is like your checking account.
You can actually go spend that readily. T three is
the active metabolic powerhouse. This is one you want. It
makes you focused, it makes you lose weight, it makes
(13:33):
you energetic. And most people today do not convert T
four into T three efficiently. And if your T three
levels go down, regardless of what your TSH says, you
will feel every bit of brain fog and weight loss
resistance because your cells are lacking energy productivity. And it's
(13:56):
critically overlooked unfortunate about most medical physicians. Another very common
overlooked player is reverse T three. I want you to
think of it as like the polar opposite. This hand
is T three, this hand is reverse T three. They
look a lot alike, but they're not quite the same.
So what reverse T three does is a mirror image
(14:18):
inactive toxic version of T three. If reverse T three
is high, it docks in the same receptor as T three,
but it blocks it, and this creates what is known
as cellular hypothiroidism. And a lot of you online today
trust me when I say this. If your brain is foggy,
if your joints ache, if you're tired of the time
(14:39):
and you can't lose weight, you have an extremely high
likelihood your reverse TEE three levels are high. It creates
this cellular hypothiroidism, which is where your blood work looks fine.
Tsah's normal, T four is normal, but your cells are starving.
Perhaps the most important test of all is getting the
(15:00):
right kind of thyroid panel done. Can't just rely on
TSH and T four, yet that's what your doctor runs
in our clinic. It's like a nine point inspection. We
do TSH and T four because you have to just
to see what the top looks like. But then we
go into free T three, what's actually available as a
savings account, free T four, what you're using in your
(15:22):
body to convert to T three, reverse T three, the
amounts of toxic thyroid hormone, and then we go even
deeper into antibodies. This is again another very important test
because ninety percent of people who are taking a thyroid medication.
So if you're online watching today and you're like, how
do I get off I send throid or leave a
(15:42):
throx or tyroscent or armor throid or nature throid. How
do we get off of these? You have to find
out if the reason you weren't producing T four in
the first place is because you're attacking the production or
the hormone. If thyroid antibodies are present, it means your
body is in an automune state. You're literally attacking either
(16:03):
the enzyme the thyroid peroxidase, which produces T four, or
you're attacking the thyroglobulin, which is the backbone of T four.
So again I can attack the production plant. Hey, the
workers have quit, so we're not making thyroid hormone. Then
the doctors will say you have hypotheridism and they'll put
you on a medication and your TSH will go up.
(16:25):
Or you're attack you're producing it properly, that the workers
are working, the plant is going, the thyroid is making
the hormone, but after it comes out in your blood boom,
your body attacks the thyroid hormone. That's thyroglobulin antibodies, and
if you have both, it's known as hashimotos. The plant
is being shut down and the product is being destroyed,
(16:48):
so you can have high antibodies for years and never
see your TSH budge. So this is why with an
evaluation of a full spectrum lab functional doctors, right, we
can go a lot deeper and beyond even simple conversations
of hey, you know diagnostic prescriptive medications. We can go
(17:09):
all the way down to is it a dysfunction of
hormone production? Is it a conversion issue? Are you blocking
the receptor because of high reverse T three or are
you in an autoimmune state? This is the first vital
step to effective treatment because each version is cared for differently.
(17:30):
Conversion issues, it's a liver problem, antibodies, it's a gut issue,
and an immune problem, hormones out of balance, it's a
metabolic systemic issue. So how do we use functional medicine
to support this, Well, let's talk about it. One way
is I've laid out the process in the Thyroid Heel
Byself ebook. So again, if you're watching today above below,
(17:52):
click the link name phone Umber email. You'll get the
ebook for free. You'll get the masterclass on the December
thirteenth for free. And let's like literally fix your thyroid,
fix your body. But if we identify the dysfunction through
the lens of those functional tests, it opens up a
massive world for us to start exploring therapies. The first
(18:15):
strategy is almost always to work on the gut thyroid connection.
This is the connection that will allow your body to
start resetting the automunity. Secondly, twenty percent of your thyroid
hormones are physically converted in your gut, eighty percent of
(18:35):
them are converted in your liver, twenty percent in your gut.
So T four turns into T three in your gut
and in your liver. So if your gut is inflamed,
if it's leaking, which it is for a lot of us,
or we have dysbiosis or an abnormal relationship of bacteria,
the conversion itself is limited, meaning less T three. So
(18:58):
again I know this is a little complicated. The watch
thyroid hormones makes T four, It goes into the blood
it's now carrying through the intestines and the liver, and
twenty percent of your conversion from T four to T
three takes place in your gut. So if your gut
is inflamed, leaking, or dispiotic, you can't physically make T three.
(19:19):
And then we get brain fog, weight loss, resistance, and fatigue.
So your gut is paramount. This involves again removing what
we call the Big three gut inflamers gluten, dairy and
other grains corn, wheat, rice, soy. Especially these fuel inflammation
(19:40):
and autoimmunity, and we can use certain nutrients to begin
to sort of seal the lining of the gut. One
very profound one is l glutamine. It's an amino acid
that helps to physically repair the lining of the intestines.
You can also use high quality soil based probiotics to
start balancing your gut bacteria, which will help to increase
(20:01):
the conversion of T four to T three. The next
is we have to focus on your liver because your
liver converts eighty percent of it. Often what we find
is methylations out of balance Phase one phase two detox
pathways are blocked. Your liver physically needs nutrients, B vitamins, selenium. Selenium,
by the way, is an absolutely essential mineral for an
(20:26):
enzyme to take T four and turn it into T three.
It also shows that that same selenium nutrient can help
to lower your antibodies. So if we work on nutrient deficiencies,
we often see zinc and iron and selenium deficiencies. So
if we address the deficiencies, your body starts to work
itself better. We also need to look at the idea
(20:49):
of what chronic stress and the adrenal glands have to
do with the conversion of your thyroid hormones. There is
a connection here that's often missed in a lot of
functional cli and in almost every major holistic clinic. Your
adrenal glands will pump out high levels of cortisol when
you're stressed out, and high levels of cortisol are often
(21:13):
a trigger for your liver to say nope, not T
FOURD to T three T four to reverse T three.
There's a huge connection between cortisol and thyroid functionality by
way of your liver inappropriately converting your T four into
reverse T three. Reverse T three again, is that toxic
(21:33):
thyroid hormone that spikes the feelings of fatigue. It physically
signals your cells to stop burning fat for energy. It
would be like applying the break and trying to lose weight.
It'd be like running with an anchor behind you that's
dragging in the sand, just slowing you down. Reverse T
(21:53):
three is the inhibitor, and the solution is not to
take more thibroid medications because unfortunately, if you understand the logic,
if I increase my thyroid meds, my liver's converting it
to reverse T three. I'm only feeding this fire of
the inappropriate conversion. And this is why most people who
say the more thyroid medications I take, usually the worse
(22:15):
I feel when it's supposed to do the opposite. It's
about calming your nervous system down, calming your adrenals down.
You can do this with deep breathing. Chiropractic care is
a great way to calm down your nervous system. You
can use herbs like ashwagandha and holy basal. These adaptogenic
(22:35):
adrenal supplements can help to calm your adrenal glands down.
So if we focus on the primary pillars gut, liver,
nervous system, you'll find that your body can start to
convert the thyroid hormones better. It can reduce the reverse
T three, it can get your antibody productions to drop,
(22:55):
and your thyroid starts to make more hormones. And guess what,
all of this happens innately by itself. How cool is that? Again,
if you're looking for the roadmap out of brain fog,
weight loss, resistance, and fatigue. Download the Thyroid he Lay
Self ebook. It's available to you either above or below
this video with a link in the description that says
(23:15):
click here to register. So, as we wrap up this
short and sweet podcast of the Astoks Aren't Show, I
hope today's discussion has empowered you to look beyond your
symptoms brain fog, symptom, weight loss resistance, not genetic, not
your diet, it's not your lack of exercise, it's a
(23:36):
hormonal imbalance. And the fatigue as being a completely new approach.
This is just your body saying, hey, wake up and
get the thyroid tested properly. The central theme we've uncovered
today is that standard medical testing is going to overlook
what you need to get the answers to what you've
been looking for. A simple TSH does not tell us
(23:59):
anything about thyroid conversions, about REVERSEIT three, or about antibodies.
It only tells us if your pituitary gland is asking
your theroid to make more hormone, but it doesn't tell
you why. It's an incomplete picture that is literally leaving
millions of Americans stuck in a cycle of suffering when
if they had the right tests, they would have gotten
(24:20):
the right answers. We detailed the necessary steps to break
this cycle down a full comprehensive thyroid panel free T three,
reverse T three antibodies HASHT motives like you really need
to get this test done. If you're looking for help,
we can order this test, send us straight to you.
It's pennies on the dollar compared to what it costs
(24:40):
to take care of your thyroid in the longer term.
And if that's you, just send us a direct message
or put your name, put your info in the comments,
blow and we'll reach out to you. The solutions are
again rooted in correcting the imbalances, restore your gut lining
and the bacteria, flush and clean out your lips so
it's non toxic and it's working properly supportive with B
(25:05):
vitamins and selenium and innocetyl cystein and glutedthione. We also
discuss how your nervous system is directly and intimately connected
with not just your thyroid, but with your adrenal gland,
which is responsible for your cortisol e stress response. So
remember your body is an innately intelligently designed system. Your
(25:26):
fatigue is not just low energy. It's your mitochondria starving
because they need more hormones. Your weight gain isn't laziness,
it's a metabolic shutdown because your basal metabolic rate is
becoming sluggish, usually from a downstream thyroid. And your brain
fog is not your age, it's a poor nerve transmitter
(25:47):
signaling in your brain because of T three levels dropping.
So my next step for you, I want you to
be powerful amongst yourself. You should be your own doctor.
So if your experience these symptoms, reach out to us.
We can coach you and guide you to the next steps,
and don't settle for an incomplete TSH thyroid test. Getting
(26:09):
the full picture is critical and necessary for you to
solve this. And if you're there looking for help, it's
available and it's completely free. The Thyroid Heel they Self
ebook will give you step by step instructions on how
to discover what your root cause is and then watch
this Saturday, December thirteenth, live Q and a open broadcast
(26:29):
discussions on how do you fix it for good and
get your energy back, get your brain back, get your
weight off, and get your body back to its resilience
that it has. It's one hundred percent free. Click the
link abover below. I hope I see you there and
next week I pray that the tar heels are not
pre emptying us. We can get back on the airways
