Ian Date is an internationally renowned Australian jazz guitarist and composer. In his 50 year music career he has recorded over 20 albums, either solo, group or in collaboration with other noted musicians. He lived in Ireland for 20 years touring Europe and the world extensively, with regular trips home to Australia to perform. He has now returned to the North Coast of NSW three years ago in 2022. He has recently recorded and performed a number of concerts with Ilse de Ziah, celloist with Ian on acoustic guitar.
Ian Date with be MC and conduct gypsy jams at this year’s Oz Manouche Festival 2025 for gypsy jazz on 25 - 28 September at Brisbane Jazz Club with leading Australian and international gypsy jazz artist performing such as Hank Marvin Gypsy Jazz, Ian Date, Noria & The Parisians (with Noria Letts (Fr), Cameron Jones, Adam Russo, Jon Hunt, Dominic Rado & Tom Flenady), Charlie McCarthy, Sam Cooke, Adam Russo & Tom Flenady, The Tripple Fiddle Fiesta, Hot Club of Hobart, Tazzmania Jam with Charlie McCarthy, and Sydney Gypsies. There will be usual gypsy jazz jams, workshops and collaborations with veterans and emerging gypsy jazz musicians.
