Joana Gama começou a aprender música no Conservatório de Braga, sua cidade natal, aos cinco anos, mergulhando muito precocemente no mundo das artes. Pianista profissional, tem participado em projectos que a aproximam de outros registos artísticos, do cinema à dança, da performance à fotografia, do teatro para adultos à dramaturgia para a infância.
Em 2016, nos 150 anos do nascimento de Erik Satie, dedicou ao compositor francês uma "celebração em forma de guarda-chuva" e não mais deixou de o convocar para recitais, palestras e apresentações públicas. Também nesta conversa ele dá um ar de sua graça, por entre relatos de caminhadas e descobertas poéticas, aproximações ao budismo zen de John Cage e um certo deslumbre com a beleza do mundo vegetal.
