Speaker 1 (00:21):
Hi oh, let's go hi oh, let's go oh, let's
go oh, let's come. News Talk eleven ten and ninety
nine three WBT Brett Jensen here with you on this
Monday night edition of Breaking with Brett Jensen, as we
go up until seven o'clock tonight, seven oh four, five,
(00:44):
seven oh eleven ten, and guys, make sure you follow
me on x at Brett Underscore Jensen for all the
lettuce and breaking news in and around the Charlotte area
and the WBT texta line, of course, is driven by
liberty Buick gmc. Okay, so let's get into a little
(01:05):
bit of stuff. How was your weekend? I can tell
you what for four people in the city of Charlotte,
it wasn't a good weekend. How many people were murdered
this weekend in the city of Charlotte, Now, including a
three year old boy that was an innocent bystanderd in
his house that got shot. One of the murdered victims
(01:29):
an older gentleman in a wheelchair in a foodland parking
lot that got caught in crossfire. Now, what you just
need to remember is that don't forget now. I want
you to remember this. Now, this came from CNPD last week.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
High profile incidents and the influence of social media can
distort public perception, making crime seem more prevalent than it
truly is.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
All Right, so remember that, remember that. I mean, just
remember that again. No matter what you think.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
High profile incidents and the influence of social media can
distort public perception, making crime seem more prevalent than it
truly is.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Okay, So through September thirtieth, we had sixty two murders.
We are way higher than that, right now, I mean,
we just had four over the weekend, not including the
three we had last week. I mean the crime but
remember now, just remember again, this is CMPD. You have
to trust them with their numbers.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
High profile incidents and the influence of social media can
distort public perception, making crime seem more prevalent than it
truly is.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
Public perception is being distorted. Oh no, no, those four
murders over the weekend, the three that we had last week, No, no, no,
that's just public perception being distorted. That's all. That's all
it is. Crime is down. So I dive, I dove
into this a little bit. Last week. They're saying crime
(03:07):
is down, and statistically speaking, they're probably right because the
first six months it was way down the first six months,
not these last few months. Not these last few months, no, sir,
But also want you to remember this, and I guess
(03:31):
members of the media just couldn't pick up on it.
But how can you say crime is down, but your
arrests are up, your arrest are up fifteen percent, your
gun seizures are up twenty five percent, but hey, crime
is down. Wait what if your arrestler up fifteen percent?
(03:56):
Like I said last week at the press conference, it
means there are way more criminals in the city of
Charlotte than there have been. Or you're just now arresting people.
And this is not a shot at the patrol officers.
This has nothing to do with the patrol officers. They
are stretched way too thin as it already is. They
(04:18):
need about an extra five hundred and fifty six hundred.
From what I was told today from a nonpartisan entity
that keeps with track of this stuff, they needed about
another five hundred five point fifty extra officers. By the way,
the amount of officers that patrol uptown are the exact
(04:38):
same amount of officers than in terms of numbers that
patrolled Uptown twenty years ago. Yeah, well, but you know,
Uptown's less than one percent of the area we patrol
in the City of Charlotte, and yet it makes up
for fourteen percent of your murders.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
High profile incidents and the influence of social media can
distort public perception, making crime seem more prevalent than it
truly is.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
Perception. That's been the word of the day for CNPD
over the last oh two weeks, three weeks. Perception. Well,
you know, perception is reality in a lot of cases. Yes,
if you think it's true, then you believe it's true,
like people who pass the light detector test. You know
that old saying. If you say a lie over and
(05:28):
over and over again, you eventually start to believe it.
And if you believe it, then you're going to pass
a light detector test because you've said it, so you've
almost convinced yourself that it's reality.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
High profile incidents and the influence of social media can
distort public perception, making crime seem more prevalent than it
truly is.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Making crime seem more prevalent. Murders are up two hundred
percent in Uptown, but again, it's perception. It's just it's perception.
Remember that, now what you think think is happening is
not really happening, according to CMPD Okay, just remember that.
I want you to remember that when you're walking under
(06:10):
passageways or by yourself at night on the rail trail
or on the green way or whatever, just remember that.
Remember that when you're riding the light rail at night
going back to UNC Charlotte after spending some time in
South End, just remember that it's perception.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
High profile incidents and the influence of social media can
distort public perception, making crime seem more prevalent than it
truly is.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
So again, four murders over the weekend. What have I
been telling you for the last two years? People like
to say, Oh, we're a couple of Seattle. No, no, no,
we were never going to be Seattle, San Francisco, La.
You know who we are who were becoming And I
(07:02):
say this every single week. It feels like with each
passing day, we are becoming more and more and more
like Baltimore, Memphis, Saint Louis, Detroit and New Orleans, places
you actually don't want to live. And because between leadership
(07:24):
and criminals and crime, that's who we are. Becoming more
and more every single day. Is a fact. Is a fact,
secret payouts to the police chief, a city attorney that
didn't know his law from that from a hole in
the ground. But that's that's who they hired. Okay, that's okay,
(07:49):
nice job a mayor, that's m i A. Every time
something bad happens, you can't find her to save your life.
And then when she does make a statement, has one
of the worst statements in the history of North Carolina politics,
maybe US politics. She only had five days to think
(08:12):
about it, and she came out with that one blaming society. Okay,
So remember when you're uptown at night by yourself and
you get a little uneasy walk into your parking deck
where your car is.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
High profile incidents and the influence of social media can
distort public perception, making crime seem more prevalent than it
truly is.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
There you go, there you go. I just will make
sure we're all on the same page. We're all on
the same page. I just will make sure we all
understand each other. And just in case, one more time,
just in case you forgot.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
High profile incidents and the influence of social media can
distort public perception making crime seem more prevalent than it
truly is.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
Yeah, about that prevalent. Do't don't worry about those four
murders over the weekend. Don't worry about that. Don't worry
about the three murders last week. Don't no, no, no,
no no. Don't you dare, don't you dare worry about
those murders. How I wish I had the Greta Thornberg stuff.
How dare you? How dare you think that about Charlotte? Anyways?
(09:22):
All right, so there you have about the crime. Four murders,
and oh, by the way, just for good measure, a
three year old boy shot in his house from outside bullets. Thankfully,
as of right now, he's still alive. I'm like the
four year old that died from stray bullets people shooting
into his house right after the Arena Zaruska murder. I
(09:45):
say this every single week. Welcome to Charlotte. I I'm
back to breaking with Brad Jensen on this Monday night,
as we go all the way up until seven o'clock tonight.
Seven o'clock, okay, so you know what, it might go
(10:08):
ahead and be time for the game that we all
love to play. That's right. That's right, ladies and gentlemen,
it's called name that Republican. The shat Observer actually endorsed.
(10:32):
Name that Republican. The Short Observer actually endorsed, ladies and gentlemen.
And our first contestant tonight is Isaac from ruthber County.
How's it going, Isaac going going?
Speaker 3 (10:41):
Well, glad to be here, thankful to be here.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Well, it's good to have you, Absolutely good to have you.
So the first thing we're gonna do is, now, this
isn't like last year in November where we had, you know,
tons and tons of people running for state and federal
and local county commissions and all that. So our options
are very very limited, are You're very limited? So here's
what we have that the Shart Observer. The race is
(11:05):
the shot Observer endorsed or talked about today, the mayor race,
and Charlotte the City Council at large, the District three
City Council. And I want to make sure I get
the right one. The other one is it District six
District sixth City Council. Okay, all right, So there's the
(11:28):
only four that they didn't play and mess around with.
Huntersville and Matthews and all that other stuff. Not not
not right yet right, But so what we're gonna do
now is we're gonna go We're gonna start hard. We're
gonna start with the hard ones. Now, the Charlotte City
(11:52):
Council at Large race, Mister Isaac, you have four Democrats,
Lawana Mayfield, uh, Dimplash, Mirra, you have Smudgie Mitchell, who
(12:13):
he's been there for a long time, and Victoria Watlington.
Those are the four Democrats. They're all incumbents. The two
Republicans me Soon Kim and Edwin Peacock. So maybe they're
trick questions. Maybe they're not trick questions, Isaac, name that
(12:36):
Republican that was endorsed by the child observer.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
I want to go with our boy Peacock, Edwin Peacock here.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
You actually got that one right, Hey, they did because
you have to pick four. Yeah, they endorsed Dimplage, Mirro,
Lawana Slack, Mayfield, Victoria Watlington and Edwin Peacock in a
shocking turn of events over Smudge Mitche. Now, Smudgie likes
to show up to the City Council once every two months.
(13:08):
Maybe maybe you know they did the deep dive and
showed that he just never shows up ever, and then
he had all his financial campaign finance issues a few
elections back. I don't even know if you ever figured
that stuff out. Oh don't worry, I'm gonna be following
the campaign finance reports and months and years later. So
(13:31):
well done, sir Isaac. Thank you, well done, Young Isaac.
All right, Charlotte City Council District three. I had James
Bowers on the show last week. He is running for
District three. He's running against uh. This is, by the way,
the old seat vacated by Isaac's personal favorite, Tijuana Brown.
(13:53):
She did not win the primary. You know, so you're
gonna have Joy Mayo, who is the Democrat who beat
Tijuana Brown. You'll have James Bowers, the Republican who was
on the show last week. And you'll have unaffiliated. I
don't know why they changed it from independent to unaffiliated,
(14:14):
but that just annoys me. Unaffiliated Robin Emmons. And the
only way Robin could get on the ballot is you
had to get a certain amount of signatures. You have
to get one percent of the population of your district
or richister voters of your district. She got it, so
you've got three people. You got James Bowers, the Republican,
(14:35):
Robin Emmons the unaffiliated, and Democrat Joy Mayo, who beat
Isaac's personal favorite Tijana Brown. So Isaac was a Republican
endorsed in this particular race. What is no, Not only
was James Bowers not endorsed, they gave him three words, Republican,
(15:02):
James Bowers. That's all they mentioned. James Bowers. Now, let's
keep in mind, going back a year ago and going
back as far as I've been at WBT, the Observer
usually endorses about ninety to ninety five percent of the Democrats.
That's about accurate. Okay, all right, My all time favorite
(15:25):
Shott Observer endorsement story is this back in gosh, twenty eighteen,
I think it was, Yeah, twenty eighteen county commissioners. They
endorsed eight Democrat county commissioners and one Republican county commissioner, right,
and they said, well, you know, there has to be
at least one Republican, but they endorsed eight out of
(15:48):
the nine Democrats. And when the Republican lost and Democrats swept,
the Observer goes, yeah, that's not a good thing. Eight
to one is okay? Nine? Oh is not okay to one? Isaac?
That's okay? All right. Now let's get to the mayor's race. Yep,
(16:09):
you've got Terry Donovan, the Republican going against VI Liles
embattled Vy Liles. Isaac was a Republican endorsed in that race.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
I'm gonna stick with my previous answer.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
No, not only was the Republican not endorsed in that race,
the Observer even like took swipes at VI Lyles and said,
we hope she'll change. By Lyles has got two years
and she's riding off to the sunset. You think she's
gonna change over her last two years. Now, Finally, the
(16:44):
last race, District six, the big hotly contested, and it
will be hotly contested. The former seat owned or i
should say, held by Tark Paccary. His wife christopherccary, who
was on the show last week, is running against Kimberly Owens.
So she is a Democrat, make no mistake about that.
(17:12):
So with that being said, Isaac was a Republican endorsed
in that race.
Speaker 4 (17:19):
Brett, I tell you, I really want to teeter her here,
but I think Chris Bacari is too strong to get
the endorsement. So I think no, no Republican was endorsed
in this race.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
I'm going to read you the last paragraph. Owens is
more than capable of being an effective member of council,
but we believe that having more dissenting voices on council
serves the entire city. Well, we recommend Bokari. No, you
were so close and now you lost everything. You were
(17:51):
so close to getting those reci cups and now you
get nothing.
Speaker 3 (17:56):
I'm just saying for to be here, Brett, it was
a great time.
Speaker 4 (17:58):
It was a huge privilege, and look forward to maybe
coming back out and trying it again one day.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
We'll see. We'll see how that goes. We'll try it,
all right, everyone, So that's our game. Too bad for
Isaac he failed at the last question, the final answer,
he failed. He lost. Unfortunately for Isaac, we'll give him
some nice party and gives him like Raiserni and a
couple of other things. We'recome back to breaking le Brett
Jensen on this Monday night, he said it was so
(18:25):
damn close. Where Yeah, So anyways, so yes, the chart
Observer did endorse Edwin Peacock. I although I will say,
I wonder if that was more of an anti Smudgie
Mitchell endorsement than it was pro Edmund But either way
(18:47):
it can't hurt because the only way Edwin wins is
by getting a lot of the UH unaffiliateds, a high
propensity of the unaffiliateds to vote for him. And same
thing with Christophercary. Her district is very heavily populated with
unaffiliateds and her husband owned them in terms of election,
(19:09):
so getting the endorsement from the Observer will not hurt Krista.
That can only help her considering what her district, what
her district entails. Okay, so I want to talk about
this real quick, and usually I don't talk about it
(19:30):
very often, Like you know, every once in a while
if something is major like this. You guys know that
sports are my background, and you guys know that I
did it for twenty seven years at the highest levels
and at the lowest, smallest levels and everywhere in between.
And as I used to used to be on my
Twitter biode now expile, it used to be used to
(19:52):
say I have covered everything from six year old's county
championships swimming to the Olympics and everything in between. That's
the true story. One of the first assignments I've ever
had at the Charld Observer was covering the Gaston County
Swimming Championships, where I was literally covering six year olds
in the freestyle true story, and then of course all
(20:15):
the other age groups. But so anyways, so sports they
are my background, clearly, and I spent many, many years
covering the Carolina Panthers, and still due to a small
extent here with WBT, Sunday's game against the New York
(20:36):
Jets sent the set the NFL back seventy five years.
And that's okay. It was an ugly, ugly, horrible, nasty victory.
But the key term in that sentence is victory because
(20:58):
just the week before their offense is going up and
down the field against the Dallas Cowboys, and it was
a very exciting game. It was one of the more
exciting games in the NFL a week ago. So they've
hit both ends of the spectrum. So now the Carolina
Panthers have shown you over the last two weeks they
can win in just the most disgusting of all NFL
games and the most exciting of NFL games. The Carolina
(21:23):
Panthers currently sit in second place in the South Division.
They're ahead of the Atlanta Falcons who are in third,
and clearly the New Orleans Saints who are dead last.
And now the Atlanta Quarterbacks got a bone bruise from
last night, day to day, week to week. And as
(21:47):
someone once said, aren't we all. We're all day to
day just as humans. But so the Carolina Panthers go
up there and they win. And the fact that they're
winning and they're four and three, are they beating great teams? No,
(22:08):
look at the dogs that they've beaten, the Dallas Cowboys,
the Miami Dolphins, the Atlanta Falcons, and now the New
York Jets. And people may scoff at the four teams
that they've beaten. And that's fine, But here's one thing
you need to remember. If you're considered a bad team,
(22:31):
but yet you beat all the other bad teams, you
may not beat a good team, but you're beating all
the other bad teams. That means you're probably somewhere in
the middle. You're better than the bad, but you're not
as good as the good, So you're somewhere in the middle.
You're beating all the crap teams. But you're losing to
all the good teams, so that means you're somewhere in
(22:51):
the middle. There are thirty two teams in the NFL
and being somewhere in the middle right now for the
Carolina Panthers, who are four and three, that's a big deal.
The Carolina Panthers have not been in the middle since
twenty eighteen, if my memory serves me correct. I think
the most wins they've had, I think since twenty eighteen
is five wins. That's it. I think that's the most.
(23:14):
And I think they got it, what three times, they
got five wins, like three times or something like that.
Two years ago, they had the worst record in the NFL.
Bryce Showan was left for dead. No one thought he
could play. Present company included, especially after they benched him
after the first four or five games last year, and
I went, oh, he's done, he's done. And then he
(23:38):
came back and he played well the second half of
last season, started off rocky this year and has really
picked it up. But the Carolina Panthers are four and
three right now. And that's the amazing part. Oh, that's
the amazing part. It's good for them. They're beating the
(23:58):
teams they're supposed to be beat and that which rarely
happens actually, to be honest with you, but they are
and right now they are doing everything that they're supposed
to be doing. Is it pretty all the time? No?
Is it frustrating? Yes? But you know what, at the
(24:20):
end of the day, there's an old saying in baseball.
Let's say you get a hit and it's just a
barely blue pit in it, or it barely dribbles down
the third baseline and only goes sixty feet, and you
beat it out and you get a base hit. There's
an old saying. And there's no pictures in the scoreboard
(24:43):
or on on the score box. There's no pictures. It's
just says hit. Well, that's sort of what's going on
with the Carolina Panthers right now, you know it. Just
it says hit, and good for them. For them, let's
see real quick, I want to check something out for
(25:03):
you guys, real quick. So the Carolina Panthers right now
are only a half a game out of the playoffs.
How many people would have guessed that through seven games,
the Carolina Panthers are a half a game out of
(25:23):
the playoffs. Here you go, Hey, it may not last,
but one thing has been shown. They actually play well
at home and they got that first road win. The
offense was garbage, but the Jets have a good defense
and all they did was get the win. They did
what they had to do. That's all that matters. The
old saying is survive and advance. Survive and advance, the
(25:47):
old march madness mantra. All right, when we come back,
we're gonna wrap this bad boy up. Welcome back to
Breaking with Brett Jensen on this Monday evening, got about
ten minutes to go seven oh four five, seven oh
eleven ten. That is the WBT text line, driven of
course by liberty built gymsue. Oh real quick, before I forget,
(26:08):
don't forget that, this is still Octoberfest and on Wednesdays
and third, excuse me, let's try that again. On Saturdays
and Sundays, we do live Facebook streaming, different people every
single time. And then on October twenty ninth, we will
do our live news and brews at Heist Brewery and
(26:28):
Barrel Arts, not the one in Noda, the other one.
And so we'll be doing that on October twenty ninth.
To make sure you go to WBT dot com to
get your tickets. By the way, Isaac, was that your
first news? Was that your first Octoberfest this past weekend?
Speaker 3 (26:46):
No, that was my second one, my first one. I
was actually in here.
Speaker 4 (26:48):
It was last year and we still did it throughout
the week and we had the whole gang there. Last time,
it was me, Bernie was I can't remember if Nick
was here or not yet or not, but yeah, we
had a good time last year.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
So how did this time go? Did you get any
wild questions or anything like that? Winnable?
Speaker 4 (27:09):
Send in some curveballs, but for the most part, it's
pretty straightforward.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
Is a curve ball? Now?
Speaker 3 (27:17):
Me and Nick did pretty good.
Speaker 4 (27:18):
And then we had Travers chime in about halfway through,
give us a look around behind the scenes.
Speaker 3 (27:24):
Who was here in studio?
Speaker 1 (27:25):
Okay, yep, all right? So what was the topic? Was?
Was there a main topic? Not really.
Speaker 4 (27:32):
We just kind of went through what you would expect
from producers, talk about a little bit behind the scenes.
We both shared stories of our first days and everything
going haywire.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
How much did you trash me?
Speaker 4 (27:43):
We only spent about twenty minutes on you. Somebody did
ask the question who was the most prepared for the show,
and I told him that Pete Calendar shows up with
note folders, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
Folders and notebooks and briefcases.
Speaker 3 (28:01):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (28:01):
And then I told him the Winter Bowl, he may
be the only one that you could wake up from
a dead sleep and he just do four hours straight
right and then oh, and then I was like, I
did give you a call to me yet actually really yeah, yeah,
I said, breaking bred Jensen. He's gonna find his way
into the middle of whatever is going on. And I
told the story about you driving as far as you
(28:22):
could and then getting out and hiking up the mountain
to go meet with the people.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Right after Helen talking about that.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
Yeah, surprised you didn't like throw some fastballs at the
head over here.
Speaker 3 (28:33):
Nah, no, you avoided most of those. I got those
out of my system. Full went live.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Showing Brett showing up at six fifty nine or five
fifty nine pm for a six pm show.
Speaker 3 (28:44):
Not a bad word was said. Not a bad word.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
See, now I'm gonna have to go back.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
Yeah, you should listen to it.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
You should go back and listen to Although it was
funny because Bernie told me last year he said he
goes bright he goes, there were only two people that
every single news or every single October Fest, every single stream,
they ask about two people every single one.
Speaker 3 (29:06):
Boomer yep, and you Boomer and me No, me, Oh.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
Bernie was saying this to me, so he said, he goes,
everyone always asks questions about you and Boomer because everyone
wants to know if Boomers like how cool is he?
And what's he like off air? And I'm like, what
you hear on air is literally who he is off airs? Radio. Baby,
(29:31):
come on now, come on, I'll see him in the hallway,
and I go Boomer, he goes.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
Come on, now, Boomers, the man.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
He is the man.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
Yeah, I remember the.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
First time I met him and I brought him in
here and he had on flip flops yep, cargo shorts,
h and old like Hawaiian shirt and and FSU had.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
An FSU visors big curly hair. Right, So did I
tell you the first time? The first time I had,
I had started covering the panthers again, like I took it,
just started coming back, started covering the panthers. And I've
told the story a couple of times on the air,
but it's actually hysterical. And I've told Boomer This. So
(30:14):
I'm in the press box at Carolina Panther games and
in college games and stuff like that. Do you have
like you have the the guy the announcer for the stadium,
all right, first down Panthers, like the guy that you know,
if you're sitting in the stadium, you hear the guy,
the speaker, the announcer guy, right, the PA guy. But
(30:35):
in the press box you have a separate person that
tells you what the official stats are in case there
are questions, right, tackle by Isaac, gain of five yards
by Jensen, right, and they just it's just inside the
press box, the speaker. So one day it's like another
(30:55):
Carolina Panthers game, I'm like, who is that voice? I
was like, and I turned to the person next to
me and I said that person should be in radio.
And the person next to me goes, he is, that's
Boomervon Cannon. You work with him? That's crazy because I
(31:17):
had I had just started here, and I'm like, who
is that? He's got the greatest voice?
Speaker 3 (31:24):
Who is that?
Speaker 1 (31:26):
That's he is in radio? You moron? His name is
Boomer von Cannon And you work with him, It's like, oh,
oh my bad, bad, sorry about that. So, yeah, I've
told the story. I told Boomer that story, and he
just started laughing. He goes, come on now, Brett, come on,
come on, now, come on, Brett, come on now. All right, who.
Speaker 3 (31:45):
Did come up last night? He always does, he does.
Speaker 1 (31:49):
Nick.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
Nick told us his favorite Boomer story. Really, yeah, I
don't know.
Speaker 1 (31:55):
I don't know if I got a favorite Boomer story.
That's hard.
Speaker 3 (32:00):
Most every interaction with Boomer's good.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
I mean when he tells the story. I mean, he's
got a couple of stories like back in the day,
like in the seventies and stuff when he was this
jockey and stuff like that. He's got some great stories.
But I tell you what, during COVID, when they emptied
out this building, we our radio towers are not here
at the station, like they're all over the place, right,
(32:23):
And we got one that's up Highway sixteen, which would
be like freedom, Freedom Drive, But you go past eighty five,
you cross over eighty five, and you just keep going
on sixteen, right, And we got some towers out there.
And right at the base of this tower is a
shack of all my closet is bigger in diameter in
square footage than this shack. Okay, it's just a tiny
(32:48):
little table and just like fuse boxes or whatever. They
had to build him. Ah, they built him at like
a desk there inside this little tiny shack. And when
I say tiny, I mean tiny, And they built him
this thing there, so during COVID he would work by
(33:10):
himself out of that tiny little shack. I don't even
know if there's I'm not joking, I don't even know
if there's windows in that thing. Like it's like Isaac,
it's a fifth the size of this this room.
Speaker 3 (33:24):
It's not small in the studio, oh way.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
Small than the sieu, like not even a third. Like
it's tiny. And he's in this tiny little shack which
I'm not even sure it has windows, and they built
some stuff and he's got a microphone. So during COVID,
because you know, we weren't allowed in the building like
I was, like the announced the radio, the people on
air were, but nobody else was allowed in the building,
(33:47):
like cells. Nobody else was allowed in the building, and
so they set it up. I think Pam did her
traffic from home. I think Boomer was in this tiny
little shack up Highway sixteen at the base of our towers.
Speaker 4 (34:00):
It was you got demoted from the news closet to
the news check all that.
Speaker 1 (34:03):
Well no, see, well, so he's not in the closet
over there, only the people, and Erickson's in the closet
over there, not Boomer. Boomer's got this big sprawling table.
Pam's got the big sprawling table. The closet that's for
the newspeople. And it is so small you can't fit too.
When I say closet, you can't fit two people in it,
No you can't. I mean you cannot fit two people
(34:24):
in there. I do know that. So anyways, but yeah,
that's uh, well it's good. I'm glad that you didn't
speak ill of me, because you still have to work
with me, you know, for a while.
Speaker 4 (34:35):
Yeah that my memoir is about all the bad stuff.
They'll be coming out later on.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
Yeah, well there'll be a lot of it. At least
I haven't thrown a pencil at you like others like
I have others. True story, I've thrown it wasn't a pencil.
Speaker 4 (34:47):
It was a pen He's came close it. You've came
close a few times, but uh, never actually had to
throw it.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
Look, I ask for so little. I just the little
that I ask. Can you just can you.
Speaker 3 (34:59):
Just let's have a quick listener poll if they believe
that or not.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
I mean, I asked for so little and gifts so much.
I don't even come on now, like Bomer says, come
on now, come on now, all right, Not Brett. That's
the other thing. That's his other saying, all right, they're Brett,
all right, Brett, I can just pass each other in
the whole way, all right, Brett. They're a big guy,
all right, big boom, big boom, big boom is Florida.
Speaker 3 (35:25):
He's a big f su boy, big fu fan.
Speaker 1 (35:28):
Yes he is. This kid went to school there were
there actually. But anyways, well, like I said, I just
want to figured. I figured, as with your chance to
just take some shots at me for me to catch
some strays. Well that's good, that's good. I'm gonna go
back and listen just to make sure because I kind
of trust you, but I kind of don't. So anyways, Oh,
(35:53):
real quick, real quick, because we got like fifteen seconds here.
How are the.
Speaker 3 (35:57):
Chickens fantastic killed my seconds in the pen this weekend?
Speaker 1 (36:01):
Though? Oh they got it, got in. Is there anything
you can do to keep the snakes out.
Speaker 3 (36:06):
I'm getting a cat.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
Okay, it's gonna be an outdoor cat.
Speaker 3 (36:09):
I assume, yes, Yeah, I don't know if you.
Speaker 1 (36:12):
Can't leave it outdoor.
Speaker 3 (36:12):
There was when it's cold though, dude, cats are tough.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
Yeah, but don't do that. Don't leave the cat out
when it's cold.
Speaker 3 (36:18):
I give it, I'll give it a little cat door.
Speaker 1 (36:21):
Yeah, as long as it can get in and out. Yeah,
long as they get out, have a little collar around it.
All right. Well, that's gonna do it for tonight. My
name is Brett Jensen. You've been listening to Breaking with
Brett Johnson
