Speaker 1 (00:21):
Hi, Oh, let's go oh, Let's go oh, Let's go oh.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Let's go News Talk eleven ten. I'm ninety nine three
WBT Brett Jensen here with you on this active Monday
night edition. Upbreaking with Brett Jensen as we go up
until seven o'clock tonight, seven oh four five, seven oh
eleven ten. And by the way, follow me on except
Brett Underscore Jensen for all the latest and breaking news
in and around the Shad area. If you follow me
(00:52):
on X like you really should, and like I've been
telling you for three and a half years, you would
have seen some of the things I posted on there,
and a lot of it obviously today about what's taken
place over the last seventy two hours since Saturday morning.
And I told you Wednesday it was coming. When I
broke the news Wednesday, it was guaranteed it was happening.
(01:14):
I told you that Wednesday night. Right. So they arrested
eighty one people on Saturday. I believe they arrested fifty
people yesterday or thereabouts. They're making more arrest today obviously.
But here's the thing. Everything that has transpired since Saturday morning,
(01:42):
from city leaders, some state officials, some federal officials, meaning congressmen,
elected officials, congress women specifically, has been absolutely moronic. And
what has happened is look at the difference between what
(02:04):
happened on October twenty second with Arena Zaruska to today.
Over the last weekend, you literally didn't hear a thing
from any city council members about Arena Zuzka. Nothing, zero.
(02:26):
It took Mayor vy Lyles four days to finally make
out a statement which may have gone down as the
single worst political statement in the history of politics, in
the history of the world, at least in the history
of Charlotte, I promise you that, and maybe in the
history of North Carolina. And I'm not even trying to
be hyperbolic, I'm being dead serious. But yet she was
(02:48):
able to put out two statements in forty eight hours,
but yet couldn't put out one statement in four days
until she was prodded to about Arena Zuzka. Where were
all the march is about Arena Zaruska and how we
want to take our city back, we need to stop
the crime. Where was all that at? But yet now
you've got all these yahoo's out there protesting. I'm trying
(03:10):
to protect criminals. What it did, it pulled back the
curtain and what has happened between August twenty second and
today what is today? November what sixteenth and seventeenth, November seventeenth.
What it has done is shown you exactly who these
people are trying to run the city and what they are.
(03:34):
That's it now. Also, so we're going to get into
this a lot and coming up in about ten twelve
minutes from now, Jason Simmons, the head of the NCGP,
will be joining us. Who we calling us. But here's
what you need to understand. I mean, there's so much
(03:55):
to unpack here. Let's start first with CMS. Okay, cemos So.
CMS puts out a statement to email to all the
parents last night that says, hey, nothing happened on any
of our campuses, and officials can't get the students' records
(04:18):
unless they have the legal documentation and blah blah blah
blah blah. But nothing has happened on our campuses. There's
a term that I first heard probably when I was
extremely young, maybe ten eleven twelve, and it was called
no blank charlock. You know what the blank stands for? Right?
(04:40):
Do you know why no arrests were made on on
CMS campuses. It was Saturday and Sunday. You're closed. It's
like CMS has to put stuff out there, act like,
oh my gosh, we're here to protect the families. Nothing
happened at our camp. It was just no blank, Sherlock.
(05:05):
You weren't open for business on Saturday and Sunday unless
I'm learning something new about public schools. And they're now
teaching on Sundays. Oh my god. And they want to
know why CMS is circling the drain and going down
the toilet there. You have it unbelievable. And I'm glad
(05:28):
that they finally quit using the term ice. I'm glad
they finally realized that. Okay, so now, so now that
I've taken care of CMS, now you've got violiles and
josh Stein saying that these Border Patrol agents are terrifying
(05:54):
and causing fear and panic among the community. Okay, let
me ask you a question. How many of you listening
to my voice right now have fear and panic when
you go uptown by yourself and you have to walk
into a parking garage after the sun goes down. Exactly,
(06:15):
Lonnie just raised his hand exactly, and that was the
rhetorical question. But that's my point. There are people that
have to go uptown for meetings and they may not
be able to walk to their car until seven thirty
at night, and instead of a parking garage, and I
(06:38):
have made them promise to me, to everything holy in
this universe, that they will not walk to the parking
deck by themselves. Talking about women, and I would even
tell them And if you think two or three women
are going to protect you, that ain't happening. What are
two fifty year old women going to do to any nothing?
(07:02):
You better have at least one man, and preferably two
men walking with you. A group safer in numbers, so
while their fear like a certain community. There's one hundred
thousand illegal immigrants in Mecklinberg County. I got that number
over the weekend. Well, Brent, what random crack pop place
(07:24):
did you get that from? How about the the Migrant
Policy Institute that does this? This is what they do,
They track all this stuff. There are more illegal one
hundred thousand in Mecklimberg County. One hundred thousand, nearly ten percent,
like nine and a half percent of the population are
(07:44):
illegal immigrants in Mecklimburre County, Okay, did you guys know
that I didn't. I had no idea. I thought of
maybe thirty thousand, maybe twenty thousand. I had no clue.
Ten percent of the population in Mecklimburg County are eagle
had no clue. And the majority, not the majority, but
(08:07):
the country where they come from the most the illegal aliens.
I thought Mexico. Most people might think Mexico because they
all come in the border from Mexico. Nope, Honduras. There
are more illegals from Honduras here than any other country.
Mexico's second, Mexico's second, then like Guatemala and you know whatever.
(08:33):
But Honduras is by far and away the country with
the most illegal aliens in Mecleburg County one hundred thousand
out of a county that is one point one million.
So what did the genius city council do today? City
council had a committee Safe Neighborhood Committee, and they got
(08:57):
together and they started debating things on whether or not
they should try and find money to give to these
organizations that deal with immigrants. Here's dimple Edgemera.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
We have seen you our families, including US citizens that
are being racially profiled, targeted, questioned, detailed, and harassed with
no transparency. And let me be very clear, no one
wants violent criminals who are undocumented in our communities. Public
(09:29):
safety is not off for debate. But this is not
about catching criminals. This is about abuse of power. This
is about discrimination, This is about violation of constitutional rights.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Okay, let me ask you a question here. Dimple Amera
is Indian, Indian Asian, she said, racial profiling. How many
Indians live in Mexico? Are natives of Mexico? Promise you
it ain't many. Any Asians of ethnicity of Asian ethnicity
(10:11):
live in Mexico Honduras. Promise you it ain't many. The
black community is very popular in the Caribbean and the
Dominican Republic and Haiti and Cuba and Puerto Rico and
all the Caribbean islands, not Mexico, not Honduras. So what
(10:36):
race might be ninety nine percent of the people that
live in that country. What race do you think that
might be? Hispanic? I think there are a lot of
Indians that live in Honduras. Do you do you so
when you say racially profiling? Okay, didn't realize there were
(10:57):
Indians living in Honduras. My apologies, I didn't know they
were there by the millions and thousands. My apologies, I
had no idea. I didn't realize that a lot of
Japanese live in Honduras. My apologies. Oh, I've got a
lot to go on. We will continue this, but when
(11:20):
we come back, Jason Simmons, the head of the NCGP
will be joining us. As Charlotte has been at the
forefront of worldwide news. Welcome back to breaking with Brad
(11:42):
Jensen on this very very active Monday night, went through
some of the city council stuff. Will continue the city
council because I'm not even sure our next guest, Jason Simmons,
the head of the NCGUP, is aware of this, but
the Charlotte City Council earlier today. First of all, Jason,
thank you for joining us. I appreciate this. A lot
going on today.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
Always great to be with you.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
So I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but
a committee of five of the Charlotte City Council voted
to give money to find money made the city manager
say you have to find money to give to organizations
that deal with migrants, and so now they are now
(12:26):
going to start funding organizations that deal with illegal aliens here.
That just happened like within the last hour, hour and
a half. So when I tell you that Charlotte is
truly becoming a sanctuary city, what are your thoughts?
Speaker 3 (12:41):
Well, I don't think any of us should be surprised.
I mean, you've seen repeat behavior, whether it's with the
Sheriff McFadden refusing to work with federal law enforcement to
honor the immigration detainers, of which across North Carolina you
have more than fourteen hundred illegal immigrants who have been
(13:03):
honed in on by ice and by our border patrol
and flagged. And so you've seen his refusal Sheriff McFadden,
but he's been emboldened by local Democrat elected officials across
Charlotte and in Mecklenburg, but also enabled by Governor Cooper
when he was governor now Stein where they're putting illegal
(13:23):
immigrants above North North Carolinians.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
Well, it's funny you say that because I just made
the commentary not even ten minutes ago that we didn't
see this outrage when Arena Zaruska was stabbed to death
and she was an immigrant and she moved here with
her family from Ukraine and there were no protests, There
were no riots in the streets, there was no funding,
and talked about then when she was murdered, But yet
(13:50):
they tried to bring and get hardened criminals off the streets,
and all the local political leaders are in complete milk down.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
Jason, I think you've heard it best from the Charlotte
Mecklenburg Fraternal Order of Police where they put out their
statement that talked about just that we're imagine, and I'm quoting,
imagine how much safer Charlotte could be if our city, county,
and state leaders showed the same determination in confronting violent
(14:19):
repeat offenders, those who murder and maim our neighbors as
they do challenging custom and border protection.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
Yeah, exactly so from a state because you know, we're
in the middle of the fish bowl here. You're up
there in Raleigh, and you know, and you talk to
a lot of people in and around the state and
even a lot of people up in DC. What's the
perception of what's happening in Charlotte right now, either from
the local city leaders to the border patrol, Like, what's
the perception of Charlotte from the outside right now, I.
Speaker 3 (14:50):
Think everybody knows how beautiful of a city Charlotte is,
and I think we continue to be dismayed by what
we've seen by our local elected officials in Charlotte and Mecklenburg,
where again they put woke Democrat policies above protecting the
rights and interest and public safety of its citizens. You
(15:12):
highlighted that with what we talked about with Arena Ziruska
over the summer, and now you're seeing it playing out
now where because of the Democrat's refusal to honor these retainers,
accusing the detainers, this could have been played out a
lot differently, where if the detainers would have been honored,
(15:33):
we would have been able to hand these illegal immigrants
over to AIS and Orver to the border patrol to
be able to get them out of our prison systems,
off of our streets and make sure we have a
safer community.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Speak with Jason Simmons, who is the head of the
North Calnta GOP party and so, Jason, I mean, I
know there's no way for you to answer this like
logically with having facts, but I mean I still want
to ask what do you think happens from here? Do
you think that Charlotte now develops the reputation of being
(16:04):
a sanctuary city nationally or what do you think, like
the same thing that's happening in Memphis, do you think
the same reputation will happen to Charlotte, Because again we're
in the fishbowl. At least you're on the outside of it.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
Well, I hope not again. Charlotte is a beautiful, wonderful city,
a great place to work and to do business. But
what you've seen is decisions that have been made by
local elected officials and again perpetuated and supported, propped up, emboldened,
enabled by state officials. Governor Cooper before Stein previously. I mean,
(16:36):
you look at Governor Cooper. He vetoed three pieces of
legislation that would have required cooperation with Ice. He released
more than five hundred illegal immigrants during his tenure as governor.
These are the types of perpetual cycles of violence that
are allowed to continue when we have Democrat policies enacted.
(16:57):
And so you look at what's going on in Charlotte
right now now, I hate what we're seeing to have
to happen. Again, this could have been far different if Democrats,
local elected officials, the sheriff would have worked and cooperated
with ICE to make sure that these detainers would have
been honored.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
I saw this stat earlier this weekend from the Migrant
Policy Institute. They track all this stuff, the Migrant Policy Institute,
and they released data that said one hundred thousand out
of the one point one million people in Mecklenburg County
are illegals. One hundred thousand. I had no idea it
(17:35):
was that much, like, not even close to I thought
it was twenty percent of that. Does that number surprise.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
You, unfortunately not. I mean, you saw what happened with
the southern border under Joe Biden's tenure, where you had
millions of illegal immigrants that flowed across the southern border.
But with that it came a whole perpetual cycle of violence,
whether it was with the drug trade, sex trafficking, human
traffic king that came with it. And given Charlotte's Corridor
(18:04):
right there where you have major highways running through it,
eighty five being one of the largest seventy seven, you've
got these interstates that allow the cartels and other drug
runners to be able to utilize our major cities, to
be able to traffic, whether it's drugs, sex or human
(18:26):
and those are just horrible conditions. None of us should
be wanting to have that being played out in our streets.
And again, what you're seeing with the Border Patrol in
Ice is going after the worst of the worst, making
sure that those criminal elements are being found, identified and
picked up and captured.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
Jason Simmons, I really do appreciate you joining us tonight.
Jason Simmons is the chair of the Ncgup again, thank
you so much for your time tonight. I appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
All right, So again, there's a lot to go on
and there's a lot to unpack, and we're gonna continue
to do so when we return from Break because I've
got a lot more stuff, like I just barely touched
on the City Council with Dimple ASHMRA and the awarding
of money. I've got some more audio that you guys
need to absolutely hear. I am telling you you're either
(19:20):
either going to pull your hair out or ram your
head through a wall one or the other one or
the other. Welcome back to Breaking with Brad Jensen on
this very very active and full Monday Night edition one again.
Thanks Jason, Simmons, the chair of the NCGP who just
joined us, and I was curious, like I really truly
(19:41):
wanted him. That's why I asked him, what does it
look like from the outside. You know, he's two and
a half hours away up in Raleigh. He's talking to
a lot of people in DC and across the state.
With Charlotte being on the national news. What does this
how does the city come across? Well, it didn't help matter.
A couple hours ago when they started having the discussion.
(20:03):
This committee, the Safe Neighborhood Committee for the show, the
city Council, there's five members voted unanimously. I know Edwin
Peacock's part of it, and a couple others are part
of it. I think Lawana is head of it. Lawana
Mayfield and the five of them voted unanimously to try
and find money to give to immigration people that deal
with immigration, like services. Okay, And when they started talking
(20:29):
about trying to find money and getting the city manager,
Marcus Jones to find the money, Lawana Mayfield in all,
I'll leave I'll leave this particular commentary out of it.
Lawana Mayfield had this to say.
Speaker 4 (20:54):
And for those who are comfortable mainly, I'm gonna say,
for all the white people in the Rome, let's have
a real conversation. There is white privilege. You're going to
be able to go to the store. Because what I
did not see in South Park was any patrol riding around.
What I did not see in certain areas of our
community were people with masks on attempting to stop, interrogate
(21:17):
or even question individuals. Here's the opportunity for you to
be that true.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
Ally, So you said you didn't see people riding around
white privilege. You know, whether it's South Park, Dealworth, Valentine,
Myers Park, whatever, answer your question, Lawana. A lot of
immigration services roaming up there, Betty's Ford Road, a lot
of them going on up there. I'm not aware of any.
(21:44):
I'm not saying there aren't, but I'm not aware of any.
A lot of immigration services running down West Boulevard, and
all the black neighborhoods also, don't think. So it's not
just the white neighborhoods. It's not just the white neighborhoods.
They went to what is considered the more predominant Hispanic communities,
(22:08):
South South Boulevard, Steel Creek area out there, off Albamar Road,
that area a little bit going up towards University a
little bit as well. So it's not just the white community, Luana,
(22:33):
I promise you that. I promise you that. What about
the heavily populated Indian community in Valentine? You did mentioned them?
So again, dimp Lashmar says they're racially profiling. Well, of
(22:56):
course they are. There aren't Indians that live in Honduras,
or Japanese or Chinese Africans. They don't live in Honduras, Guatemala.
So I mean, I don't know what you're expecting them.
(23:21):
You so you would prefer them just to start arresting
Indians Asians. That way they won't be because they won't
be uh, they won't be accused of racially profiling. How
about that? Okay? Okay? So there's what one one point
(23:48):
something billion Indians in India one point billion, one points
I don't know, one point three billion, one point five billion,
whatever it is. I'm living in Honduras, Okay, all right,
just asking asking for a friend. Lonnie wanted to know
(24:11):
line during the break, said Brett, how many Indians do
you think liv in Honduras? Okay? All right? All right?
So when we come back, I got some more things
that we need to unpack about all this stuff. And
again there's a lot going on and a lot of
(24:31):
people freaking out. But we didn't see any of this
during the Arena Zeruzka situation, did we? That was an
immigrant right actually came here legally. So maybe if she
and her family didn't come here legally, maybe people would
be upset. Maybe city council didn't speak about it. Where's
(24:51):
Lewana Mayfield about Arena Zeruzka? Still waiting lawana? But yet
now you want to find money for the immigrants. You
guys can even name a light rail station after Arena Zarutska.
That doesn't cost any money. I'm not sure. Well, I
mean take that back. It will cost money to paint
her name or at her name into the light rail
station a sign. Do you know how much money would
(25:14):
be donated in two seconds? So the city wouldn't have
to pay for that in two seconds. But yet, God forbid,
they want to get the criminals out of Charlotte. One
hundred thousand illegal immigrants live in Mecklmore County one hundred
thousand and one hundred and fifty or one hundred excuse me,
(25:37):
one hundred and thirty were arrested over the first two days,
and they're having a freaking meltdown. One hundred and thirty
out of one hundred thousand. Okay, all right, when we
come back, we'll talk a little bit about things at
the state level and the mayor and everything else. Going
(26:05):
back to Breaking with Bred Jenson for a few more
minutes here on this Monday night. Again thanks to Jason Simmons,
chair of the NCGUP, who joined us earlier. And if
you missed any part of tonight's show, and I highly
recommend that you do this, go to WBT dot com
and just clicking the shows and you'll see Breaking with
Bred Jenson in the menu, and you'll see tonight's show
(26:26):
posted a little bit after we're done here tonight. Okay, So,
so now the mayor, the city council, as you've heard,
Governor stein Anderson Clayton, who I think just graduated high
(26:49):
school like a couple of years ago, who's now head
of the NC Democrat Party, and Bret what are you
talking about? Just graduated high school? No, I mean she
became head of the North Combine the Democrat Party at
the age of twenty five, with no experience, no life experience. Okay,
So anyways, they're all in a tizzy and talking about
(27:12):
get out of our state, and they're making people feel
unsafe and terrorized and threatened and fearful. Those are the
words that they were using. Right. So, last week I
told you about someone that I spoke to that said
(27:35):
they actually would feel safe with border patrol coming to Charlotte. Right.
And Jamie says that she felt like she could go
jogging and not be in total fear while jogging as
a solo female. And then she also said, when we
(27:56):
were talking about today, she said, what so you're not
you don't care about the fear everyone feels an uptown
or in and around Charlotte, fear that you're going to
be driving through a ray of bullets while driving down Woodlawn, right,
I mean, or Clanton when you take the exits you
(28:19):
get off All seventy seven and you're going into the
south end off of Clanton, or you're trying to get
somewhere coming off a woodlawn down there in South Charlotte Archdale, right, Right,
So you don't worried about the fear there terrorizing all
your citizens. There's a quote that I learned a long
(28:39):
time ago, and it's one of my all time favorite quotes.
You don't sacrifice the many to save the few. Don't
ignore eight nine hundred thousand people, a million people to
placate to fifty thousand. So you'd rather make the fifty
(29:03):
thousand happy than the one million happy? Or but you
get my drift. Now, granted all not all one million
people are happy that the border patrols here, But you
get my drift. You get what I'm saying. You don't
sacrifice the many to save the few. So if you
don't feel safe, and Jamie doesn't feel safe, like I
(29:26):
can promise, I promise you this. I promise you this.
When she and other women that I know or elderly
people have to do business in uptown after dark, I
always tell them, you better have someone walking with you,
(29:49):
even if it's like a man, a man in his sixties,
man in his seventies, you better have someone walking with
you because you're sitting duck. Same thing with Jamie, Same
thing with these other women that have to go uptown
for business purposes. You're sitting duck. You better have someone walking.
(30:10):
I've made multiple women that I know not dating anything
like that, just that I'm friends with and go, promise
me to everything holding in this universe. Someone will walk
you to your car because you're in uptown through August
through October fifth, that's where fourteen percent of the murders
took place. So uptown right now it's a rat hole.
(30:35):
It's unsafe. And the only reason that the city leaders
are now trying to do something because remember they kept saying,
was perception them and cmpd oh, it's just perception perception
that it's unsafe. Well, then the city leaders, led by
David Longo and others got together and said, no, we
need to put a stop to this. Our businesses are
(30:56):
suffering because no one wants to come uptown. Well, who
blames them? I don't go uptown. I used to love uptown,
not anymore. Nope, I'm good. I'm good, thanks, and I'm
not alone in that. So city leaders Ava Lyles josh Stein,
(31:18):
how about worrying about how everyone feels about their safety
and that quit using the word perception perception. That word
would have been appropriate for this. One one hundred out
of one hundred thousand so far through Sunday, one hundred
and thirty were arrested. That's it. Out of one hundred
(31:41):
thousand illegal immigrans in Mecklalmore County, one hundred and thirty
were arrested through the first two days. I don't know
about today. You know, probably another sixty seventy people eighty
people again today, okay, and they're not going to be
here very long before they head to New Orleans. All right.
That's going to do it for us tonight. Obviously there'll
be a lot more going on, maybe a lot more
(32:02):
going on tomorrow. Oh by the way, I do not
actually have a show tomorrow because of tar Hill Basketball,
I believe. But I will be on with Bowen Beth
like I am every single morning, all right, excuse me
every single Tuesday morning at eight fifty, So make sure
you're joined me for that. And also, real quick, I
want to tell you about the Hancock Bike drive again.
That is December fifth, from I believe five to nine thirty.
(32:26):
I believe. I want to make sure I get the
times right, but I think it's five to nine thirty
right here at one Jillian Price Place, and you guys
drive up. We have a big circular driveway. You drive up.
You don't even have to get out of your car.
Brett Winnable will be personally taking the bikes out of
the back seats and the back in the back beds
of the trucks. And Ed Billock will be there helping
(32:48):
out as he always does. He's sort of the mastermind
of all this. Boomer will be there. We'll all be
broadcasting live from there. So come by, Go buy Walmart,
Go buy Target. Buy a nice bike, you know, fifty
bucks whatever it costs, they aren't very expensive. Bring it by.
We'll take it out of your car and it will
go to a kid that is in need of a bike.
(33:09):
It's they Hancocks Bikes for kids. I think it's the
thirty first year. All right, that's going to do it
for us tonight everyone Again, I do not have a
show tomorrow, but I will be on with Bowen Beth
at eight point fifty in the morning.
