Speaker 1 (00:22):
Hi, Oh, let's go oh, Let's go oh, Let's go oh,
Let's go.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Abduced Talk eleven ten and nine to nine three WBT
Brett Jenson here with you on this Tuesday night edition
or Breaking with Brett Jenson as we go up until
seven o'clock tonight, seven four, five, seven, eleven ten. Guys,
make sure you follow me on X Brett Underscore Jensen
for all the latest and breaking news in and around
the Charlotte area. And also if you have been following
(00:54):
me on X like I tell you to every single day.
If you follow me on X, then you would under
stand that Congressman Mark Harris will be on the show tonight.
They want to talk about some things. So they were
like yeah, I was like, I'd love to have you on.
So they're gonna come on Mark, or I say they,
But Mark's gonna come on in about twenty four minutes
(01:18):
from now or so right at the bottom of the hour.
Mark Harris, Congressman, will be joining us on a District
eight by the way, Union County, Cabarras County and going east.
We're gonna get into quite a few things tonight, but
I do want to start off with this and I
just found it interesting. So Tuesday night, excuse me, the
(01:46):
the person known as Montravius King file to run for
District three. How's a good background? How's a really good background?
And when I say District three, I mean city council.
I don't want to be I don't want you to
be confused with the congressional districts or anything like that,
(02:07):
or school board anything else. It's running for District three. Well,
who's also in District three is our favorite person? Till
On A. Brown, the woman who has already served what
three or four years in jail felonies, and then who
recently was charged with fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud
(02:29):
along with her two daughters over PPP loans during the
covid era and for taking about one hundred and twenty
four thousand dollars of ill gotten gains. So I mean
this is Charlotte. I mean, make no mistake about it.
This is who we are. We are Baltimore, we are Memphis,
(02:52):
we are Saint Louis, we are in New Orleans, we
are Detroit. This is who we are. This is who
we are when people like Tijuana are getting elected. This
is who we are. I mean, I mean, it's just
just it's a simple fact. This is who we are.
But my travy is King had some really good, as
(03:12):
the kids say, bona fides. He had some good bonafides.
I had had a good resume, and he decided to run.
Why because you can't have a person that's most likely
going to go to jail represent your district and city council.
You just can't. But then again, this is Charlotte, so
(03:34):
anything's possible, right, So anyways, I mean specifically Charlotte politics.
So he dropped out of the race. He told he
said his name will still be on the ballot, but
he specifically dropped out on Tuesday morning. And they're like, wait, what,
(04:02):
So he's dropping out because he did not get endorsed
by the Black political Caucus. Let me tell you some
elect political caucus. The first of all the front runners,
and by the way, it's a shan organization. The front runners.
Oh look at us, Look at all the people we've
endorsed that have gotten elected. Well, yeah, duh, we've endorsed
(04:23):
Vi Leiles. Congratulations. No one saw vi Lyiles's reelection coming
except the Black political Caucus, who knew that she was
going to get reelected. No one saw that one coming.
Who knew that Lewana Mayfield was going to get elected?
No one saw that one coming, Like, what are we
doing here? They claimed to be all powerful, they're not.
(04:45):
At one point, it was believed that in order to
get endorsed, and I'd heard this from some other candidates,
that you allegedly had to donate to the Black Political
Caucus just to get an endorsement. Okay. Also supposedly and allegedly,
(05:12):
when the group votes, the whole organization votes, it really
doesn't matter how the organization votes because the board controls
who the endorsements actually go to. So that would be
like Lonnie and Isaac and everyone here at WBT saying,
you know what we're voting. We want this person, we
(05:32):
want to endorse this person, and then me going, oh
that's great. I don't care if you voted all eight
of you voted for this person. I have final say
and I'm going with this person. Allegedly, that's what the
Black Political Caucus does. The boy can vote who endorse
whomever they want, regardless of how the body actually votes.
(05:53):
So it's not a democracy, all right, I mean the
Black Political Caucus. You hear a lot of things about them,
a lot of things, but I'm just talking about those
two very specific things. So supposedly the Black Political Caucus
is going to endorse Joy Mayo Joy JOI then Mayo
(06:20):
like mayonnaise, m a yo Joy Mayo, and I know
that's not how spell mayonnes. So he decides Montrevius decides
to drop out. Okay, that's one thing, But what he
(06:42):
did afterwards, it just leads to so many questions. You
know that old saying something smells rotten in Denmark? Just
some some's not right. A man who's running against a
woman who has a high probability of going to jail.
(07:04):
The Department of Justice, the dj FBI, they have about
a ninety seven percent conviction rate, ninety seven to ninety
eight percent conviction rate, right, never say never. So you're
saying we got a chance to get out of it. Okay,
but he said this. I know for a fact that
(07:27):
the Black Political Caucus has a good polls on District three,
and we didn't do as well as we thought we
were going to do. Just because you didn't get the
Black Political Caucus's endorsement. Really, who I want to know
who threatened you to get out who threatened you. I
believe in my heart of hearts that there is only
(07:48):
one person in this race that truly loves and cares
about the people. And because of that, not only am
I suspending my race, but I am fully endorsing current
councilwoman Tijanna Brown. Okay, did someone pay you or did
someone threaten you? That's what I want to know. I
(08:09):
believe in my heart of hearts that there's only one
person in this race that truly loves and cares about
the people. Only one person. You were in that race.
By the way, just so you know, my Trevius, your
name is still going to be on the ballot. Technically
you're in the race. So what you're saying is you
personally don't care one rat's rearand about the people of
District three. That's literally what your statement says, there's only
(08:30):
one person in the race. Well, you're in the race,
your name's on the ballot, you signed up to be
on the race, but yet you don't care about the
people of District three. That quote will haunt you forever
more every time you run for office. I promise you
I will be bringing that up every time as long
(08:53):
as I'm a reporter here at WBT or in Charlotte,
and as long as you try to run for election somewhere,
I don't here for it's county commission. I don't care
what it is. I will bring that quote up that
you do not care about the people in District three
because you said there's only one person in the race,
and you're in the race. Your name's actually on the ballot.
(09:13):
You signed up to run for this race. So you're
saying that Joy King doesn't care about it the people
of District three. That's what you're also saying that the
only person that cares about the people in District three
is a convicted fellaw and someone highly likely to be
a two time convicted felon. That's the only person in
(09:35):
that entire race that cares about the people in District three.
By the way, Joy King, for the record said that
UH believes that she or stating from reports that she's
actually gaining the endorsement of the Black political Caucus. Because
if you're the Black political Caucus, how can you endorse
Tijuana Brown. If you endorse Tijlanna Brown, that tells me
(09:58):
all you I need to know, because what you're saying,
is our best person is a felon who's most likely
to be sent back to jail. Really, that's your best candidate.
That's who represents the people of your district. Really? Okay,
but they didn't. They didn't according to Joy King, according
(10:18):
to reports, I mean, excuse me, Joy Mayo. According to
reports specifically, I believe there was one in the shild
Observer that she's claiming that she's getting the endorsement of
the Black Political Caucus. So Montravius drops out because he
didn't get the Black Political Caucus' endorsement, and does it
go with the person that did get the Black Political Caucus' endorsement,
(10:41):
at least reportedly and his wholeheartedly supporting to Juanna Brown,
I want to know again, did someone pay you or
did someone threaten you? Because your statement was one of
the dumbest statements I've ever heard from a political candidate.
No one cares about the district. There's only one person,
(11:02):
ti Juana, Okay, So you did not care about the district. Clearly,
if the Black Political Caucus didn't endorse Tijuana, the Black
Political Caucus, according to you, they don't care about the
district the people and Joy King according to you, does
not care about the district. Congratulations, my Trevius. That was
a very stupid statement and one that will be bringing
(11:25):
up to you forever every time you run. I will
put this out there because that was a very very
unintelligent statement. Only one person cares, Okay, Okay, I just
want to make sure I believe in my heart of
hearts that there is only one person in this race
that truly loves and cares about the people. All Right,
you said it, not me? Look back breaking with Bret
(11:56):
Jensen on this Tuesday night, seven oh four five, I
have seven to eleven ten is the telephone number and
the WBT textagn driven by Liberty Buick gmc okay again,
coming up, in about ten minutes from now, Congressman Mark
Harris will be joining us live. I don't know if
he's in d C or if he's here. My assumption
(12:17):
is that he's in DC because it's a weekday. I
don't know if that's accurate or not, but we'll see.
That is my assumption, and hopefully we can get Congressman
Tim More on next week as well, and then as
we start progressing, then later on in a couple of weeks,
when the House Wiresent, the North count of House of
(12:40):
Representatives in the North count State Senate they go back
into session, hopefully I'll know you'll start being able to
get like David Willison and Brad Senator Brad over Cash
out of Gaston County, and Donnie Loftus and Toddy Johnson
and Dave Craven, all these people on. Hopefully we'll start
getting some of these people on. Okay, so let's in
(13:02):
the last couple of minutes here, let's talk about this
real quick. And I talked about it last night, oh briefly,
and I talked about it this morning briefly on Bowen.
Beth Well, I say briefly for about a good five
six seven minutes about how when I went to this
political event that was hosted by the mech GUP and
(13:23):
I went there and I was given access to I
don't know, twenty something candidates, and I said something last
night and this morning that there seems to be this enthusiasm.
And Beth asked me this morning, you know, basically, why
do you think that they're having it? And I don't
(13:47):
know if it's the tone of what's going on with
the country where woke is dying every day. It's dying.
Howard Stern gone. Congratulations, he's officially gone. He can take
his one hundred million dollar a year contract, not even joking,
that's what it was, one hundred million dollars a year.
And he hasn't been relevant in about ten years. And
(14:09):
he's been afraid to leave his house ever since COVID.
And I'm not even joking. He just lives out there
on the Hamptons and it's like, oh my gosh, we
can't have a made anymore because you know of COVID.
We're five years after the fact, and supposedly or allegedly
gets upset that people are walking around the Hamptons without
(14:34):
their mask on outside. I mean, this is a man
who truly went insane. And the people who went insane,
ninety nine point nine percent of them are hardcore Democrats.
I'm not even joking. It's all the ones that thought
(14:54):
we were all gonna die. Are the Democrats. First of all,
look no further than the national media. Steven Bert, Rachel Maddow,
all those people, right, All the Democrats do as I say,
not as I do, type thing. Gavin Newsom, Nancy Pelosi.
But Howard Stern gone, Jimmy kimme On. Next, Jimmy kimme
(15:15):
On went on, I believe it was Sarah Silverman's podcast,
and all four people that listen to it basically said
that he and his family are thinking about leaving America
because they don't think it's safe anymore. No, it's not
safe because you live in Los Angeles. That's where you
live in Los Angeles. No wonder you don't feel safe,
(15:36):
you moron. I cannot wait until your show is canceled,
just like Stephen Colbert's. By the way, his room name's Colbert.
His family lives down in Charleston. It's Colbert, not even joking.
C O L B E RT Colbert. So Stephen Colbert,
(16:00):
that's his real name. Don't don't get fooled by what
he tries to tell you. But I believe the reason
there's so much enthusiasm locally, even though we are in
the bluest county in North Carolina. True fact, by statistically speaking,
true fact, the fact that these candidates have enthusiasm. I
(16:23):
think it's because even though the tide may be shifting,
you know, the tide is shifting across the country. I
don't know if it's shifting in our little corner in
Meckilmore County, and we'll find out, you know, I mean,
I mean, we'll find out come November of how many
(16:47):
school board members are there, how many city council members
are there. We'll find out what happens in Huntersville. People
do nothing but complain about all the people in Huntersville
that are on the board, how it's all left and
like very far left. Okay, we'll see what happens then.
(17:07):
I mean, you'll still have a Democrat mayor. Okay, that's fine, whatever,
but it won't be run completely by Democrats at least
I don't think so. Same thing in Matthew's Will that
one switch from a Democrat leadership towards Republican leadership. I
don't know. We'll see or unaffiliated leadership. We'll see. We'll
(17:28):
see what happens come November. If there was a reason
for them to be optimistic, but again, they are optimistic,
and it's gonna take money, and it's gonna take elbow grease.
If they're gonna win, plain and simple, they have to
be able to buy advertising, sell out mailer, send out mailers,
and literally go knocking on every door, not even joking,
(17:51):
not even joking. Welcome back to breaking with Brett Jensen
on this Tuesday night. Well, rainy said, Gusson County got
three inches of rain and we got zero point eight
inches of rain. Interesting. All right, Joining us now is
Congressman Markerris. It's been a while since I've spoken to him,
(18:13):
and always enjoyed talking to him. So first of all, Congressman,
thank you for joining me tonight. And second of all,
are you in d C or are you here locally?
Speaker 3 (18:22):
Well, Brett, it's great to be with you this evening,
and I'm actually local tonight, just having returned from Israel.
And we've been in Israel since I left a week
ago this past Sunday and actually got back into Charlotte
last night, and so we've been kind of recovering today
and from from that trip. It was a congressional delegation
(18:45):
that was part of it, and so we're local here
with you tonight.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
Well, first of all, welcome back and glad that you're safe.
But you know what you just this is all like,
you know, spur of the moment and off the cuff stuff. Well,
one are the places I've been thinking about taking my
vacations is actually Israel. You know, I've gone to Ukraine
a couple of different times, and I like to go
to odd and unique places. So what's it like over
in Israel right now?
Speaker 3 (19:11):
Well, you know it is. It was a war area,
no question when you get down in parts of the
country where we went down toward Gaza. But Israel is
an incredible, incredible place to visit, and I would recommend
it to anybody. I've been over there. Probably that's and
(19:31):
I we're talking the other day. I think I've been
over there about six different times. Four of them were
trips of taking groups over just as two of the
Holy sites and see those. And then this was my
second what might be called a geopolitical trip in the
sense of learning and seeing the land in terms of
(19:52):
the policies and the battles. And of course this trip
was actually a number of the freshmen congressmen were invited
to the Israeli American Israeli Education Foundation puts together an
opportunity for freshmen to go, and so there were Republicans,
there were Democrats. It was a bipartisan experience as well,
(20:15):
and so we were able to see we visited some
of the holy sites, but we certainly were able to
take in the very important areas and get an idea
of what was happening when before I went, my goal
was to get clarity of the situation because we hear
so much, and I feel like I did come back
(20:36):
with a great deal of clarity about what was actually
happening there on the ground, what we were able to see.
We visited some of the kibbutzs, the kabbuzes where Hamas
came in and on October seventh of twenty three and
just did unspeakable things in those living situations in those communities,
(20:57):
and you know, it was tragic, and much of it
is still in the same situation it was that day
because one thing that the folks in Israel do quite
well is they put an emphasis on remembering and not forgetting,
and they want people to see and to understand and
(21:17):
to know what really happened there that day. And it
was a very very painful, very powerful moment. We went
to the area where the festival was being held that
morning when at six twenty nine am they launched their
attack Kammas did on the Israeli people.
Speaker 2 (21:35):
Speaking of Congressman Mark Harris, who just returned last night,
back to Charlotte from a trip to Israel congressional trip
to Israel. So you heard, and obviously I know you're
well aware of this because now you're a part time
resident of Washington, DC, that the federal government and specifically
Donald Trump, talking about taking over the federal or taking
over the police department. They're in Washington, d C. Because
(21:58):
of the safety and it's i think the fourth highest
murder rate I think going on right now. And I Congressman,
I literally just saw on CBS News how they're trying
to downplay saying, oh, violent crimes down in Washington, d C.
Robbies are down in DC. They put all these stats
up there saying there was basically no reason for Donald
Trump to do this. What were your thoughts about the
(22:18):
whole situation involving d C, a place that you now live.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
Well, I think it was a very smart moved by
the president. I think it was a very necessary move
that the president took. And to be honest, I mean,
I've heard all of the different press things that have
come out in the media's you know's head spinning and saying,
as you point out that crime rates are actually down
and this is wrong. But if you listen carefully. I mean,
(22:45):
even the mayor of Washington, d C. Made the statement that,
you know, it was concerning to her. I think that
maybe the words she used, but that they were going
to cooperate. When you listen to folks that have been
part of the Washington d C Police union, chiefs talk
totally understands why the President took this action. And to
(23:06):
the point that you just made folks forget that in
DC in twenty twenty four they had the fourth highest
homicide rate in the entire country, with a homicide rate,
I might add, of nearly six times higher than New
York City. And you know, I'm just a freshman in
the US House, have been up there eight months, week
(23:28):
in and week out. And yet I can point you
back to May when we were actually having one of
those all nighters voting on a bill, and it was
just down the street where two Israeli embassy staffers, young
people that were engaged to be married, were murdered in
cold blood. And then a month later, one of my
colleagues had a Congressional intern that was fatally shot just
(23:50):
a short distance from the White House. And then, of
course we all saw on the news just a few
days ago where Trump administration staffer was just beaten by
a violent mob, just thugs, and the President has said
enough is enough and it's time to step in because
the bottom line is, we've seen the left agenda in
(24:11):
our cities. They're sought on crime policies have left Washington
with really a violent crime rate that's higher than some
of the most dangerous third world countries. And I just
think the President did what he needed to do. He
has certainly been a president that has stood on law
and order. When he sees the situation that needs a
(24:32):
touch of to step in, he did it in La
when we saw all the riots beginning, he sent the
National Guard in to step in and protect. They did
what they were sent there to do. They got the
job done, and I have no doubt that we're going
to see the same thing occur here in Washington. Just
to bring things in order and listen, I think it's
(24:55):
a perfect place to start. The nation's capital ought to
be a role model for or folks around the country
to see.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
Speaking with Congressman Mark Cars for a couple more minutes
here on breaking with Brett Jensen, Congressman, you know, is
there anything that specifically that you'd like to say just
to the listening audience. It's not just the people in
your district about just whatever was whatever you want to
talk about, whether it's like what's going on in DC,
what bills are getting ready to come down the pipe,
or some more things that you witnessed in Israel, about
(25:23):
what you know, maybe the way you know people in
the EU are looking and condemning Israel, like just anything
in general that you'd like to discuss.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
Well, let me just say this, because I've obviously had
about a ten hour flight back home last night and
really reflected on a number of the things that I
saw and I knew. One of the things I wanted
to share with people when I got back is folks
are asking because you watch the media and you watch
the news, and you can get a whole skewed view
(25:55):
of what's really happening over there. But after we spent
the time, you know, talking with the brother of the
young man who is a hostage who was used as
propaganda just last week when they're starving him to death
and they put out that video and had him digging
his own grave and things like that. When you spend
(26:16):
time there and you see what's really happening, and having
an opportunity to talk to the Gauzy Humanitarian Fund Initiative
and realizing that President Trump played a key role in
launching this nonprofit and they're just getting started and they've
already delivered one hundred and ten million meals, They secure
their own supply chain, they've had zero percent of their
(26:39):
aid diverted, unlike the United Nations, which has been a disaster,
and what they've been trying to do in a moss
is just running a misinformation campaign that has left people
just confused and everything else. So I thought about Brett
would what would I want to say to folks of
(27:00):
how they can help civilians in Gaza, And I would
say this number one, stop echoing Hamas's own slogans and
educate yourself, really come to understand what has happened over there,
and that every point since the UN tried to partition
Palestine in nineteen forty seven, as the British government gave
(27:20):
up control, Israel is the one that's been given up
land for peace and Hamas refuses to even negotiate. I
would also say stop assuming that Hamas operates according to
the standards of Western democracies because you're getting played if
you believe that. And I would also say stop blaming Israel.
(27:42):
I mean the six twenty nine am on October seventh,
four thousand rockets started to rain down. Six thousand terrorists
came by land, through tunnels, by sea, by air. Paragliders
started just butchering men, women, children, and old people just indiscriminately.
And it listen, it was tragic and we've got to
(28:04):
recognize that. And then fourthly, I would just encourage people,
if you learn more about the Gazi Humanitarian Fund initiative,
support it. You will support it if you learn more
about it. And as I've already mentioned, they've already delivered
one hundred and ten million meals. They do it right.
Samaritan's Purse, I believe, is also taking aid. And I'm
(28:25):
hearing reports that are recent shipment that the UN again
continues to do, may have been diverted, stolen bajamas. That's
the UN action. But learn more about the Gazi Humanitarian
Fund initiative because I think it's going to be a key,
a key help if you really want to make a
difference in civilian lives there in Gaza.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
Well Congressman hairis again, I really do appreciate you coming
on tonight. And if I do decide to go to
Israel in about a month or two, I'll be reaching
out to you as a personal travel guy.
Speaker 3 (28:55):
Please, I will you reach out to me. I will
connect You are the right people, and you'll have to listen.
It'll be better than running with the bulls. Go there
and have the full experience, I promise you.
Speaker 2 (29:08):
Congressman again, thank you so much, and welcome back. And
I'm glad you were able to enlighten me and our
audience about things going on in Israel. And again, thank
you so much, sir for joining us tonight.
Speaker 3 (29:18):
It's always a pleasure to be with you. Thanks so much.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
Thank you, sir. That is Congressman Mark Harris, who again
is just on his way back from Israel. And it's
pretty amazing. And you hear a lot of things and
not everything zactly. Remember the Hamas was putting out all
these things, or these journals are putting out all these
photos of starving children and then found out, oh yeah
those were actually babies in Italy. Yeah that wasn't Gaza.
(29:45):
Remember that was only like two weeks ago. Yeah, okay,
welcome back.
Speaker 4 (29:58):
To Breaking with Bret Jensen for about three more minutes
or so, because we went long on purpose because we
had Congressman Mark Harris join us live just returning to
Charlotte from a week.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
Long trip in Israel. And I usually don't tell people
where I'm going, just for various reasons. Either a I
don't want them to know, get nervous about it, or whatever.
All right, because I remember I was telling our general
manager a few years ago that I was thinking about
going to Ukraine and during the war or whatever, and
(30:30):
she was nervous. My mom got crazy nervous, and I'm like, okay,
you know, I'm just not gonna tell people. And then
the boss started doing the whole thing where in the
world is breaking brat Jensen, which was actually really funny.
But on top of that, Israel was one of the
places I was thinking about going because I wanted to
go see what people thought, you know, people who lived there,
(30:52):
what do they think? Not just in Tel Aviv, but
maybe if I can get down there to some of
the kibbootzes like Congressman Harris said that he went to
near the gas of border or out towards the West
Bank where Jerusalem and go see that, like you know,
and spend four days five days in Israel and talking
to people and seeing things because you know, it's they're
(31:15):
a little on edge still and rightly so, and like
missiles and things are being lobbed into Israel. Not not recently,
but they have been, you know, either coming in from
the north from Lebanon, or coming in obviously from the west,
or excuse me, from the east from Iran. So I've
thought about going there, and so when congress Man Harris
(31:36):
said that he'd be able to hook me up, that
just makes me hook me up with the right people,
I should say, that makes me want to maybe do
this even more. But there are but I am looking
at numerous different places. I'm looking at Asia, looking at Africa,
looking at Europe, and depending on when I go, maybe
(31:57):
even South America. So again it's but Israel was one
of the first places I thought about going because I
want to see what it's like over there right now,
especially everything that's been going on over there in the
last two three months. So again, thanks to Congressman Harris
for joining us tonight. I really do appreciate this, and
(32:18):
that interview will be posted on our WBT website separately,
and the entire show will also be posted on the
WBT website under the Breaking Bret Jensen podcast page. So again,
thanks for that. All right, everyone, that's going to really
do it for us tonight tomorrow. I got some things
lined up for tomorrow, so looking forward to that. We've
(32:39):
got I've got a press conference that I have to
attend tomorrow morning involving the US Attorney and I believe
the ATF and some other people that are going to
be right here, actually right near the station tomorrow morning.
So there's a big press conference tomorrow morning that I
will be covering, and we'll be talking about that tomorrow
night as well as a few other things. So with
all that in mind, again, thanks to Congressman Marc Erras
(32:59):
for joining us. Look forward to doing this all over
again tomorrow. My name is Brett Jensen, and you have
been listening to Breaking with Brett Jensen.
