Il y a deux ans, jour pour jour, le 7 octobre 2023, le Hamas lançait une attaque d’une violence inédite contre Israël faisant plus de 1.200 morts, en grande majorité des civils, et 251 otages. En réponse, l’armée israélienne a déclenché une offensive dévastatrice sur Gaza, une riposte qui, très vite, a dépassé la légitime défense pour prendre la forme d’une vengeance sans limite.
Deux ans plus tard, plus de 67.000 Gazaouis ont été tués et la famine touche une grande partie de la population. Côté israélien, 47 otages restent encore détenus dans l’enclave, dont une vingtaine seraient toujours en vie, selon Amnesty International.
Le 29 septembre dernier, les États-Unis ont présenté un plan en 20 points censé mettre fin à la guerre. Un plan qui suscite autant d’espoirs que de critiques sur ses imprécisions.
Dans cet épisode du Brief, Ondine Werres reçoit Olivier Corten, professeur de droit international à l’Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), et Frédéric Rohart, journaliste à L’Echo, pour décrypter les enjeux juridiques, politiques et humanitaires de ce plan américain et les négociations en cours entre Israël et le Hamas en Égypte.
