On pourrait le présenter comme un Tintin des temps modernes: explorateur scientifique, héritier d’une lignée de pionniers, Bertrand Piccard a marqué l’histoire de l’aviation en pilotant le Solar Impulse, premier avion solaire à accomplir un tour du monde, ainsi que le Breitling Orbiter, premier ballon à réaliser un vol autour de la planète sans escale. Il prépare désormais le Climate Impulse, un nouvel appareil destiné à repousser encore les frontières du vol habité.
"Il faut créer du spectaculaire pour être entendu", affirme-t-il dans cet épisode. Car c'est tout l'objectif de ce psychiatre de formation devenu explorateur scientifique: être entendu pour faire bouger les lignes, notamment en matière environnementale.
Dans le sillage de ses exploits aériens, Bertrand Piccard a créé la fondation Solar Impulse, qui a permis d’identifier plus de mille solutions capables de protéger l’environnement tout en restant économiquement viables. Son objectif: convaincre gouvernements et entreprises d’adopter ces innovations pour accélérer la transition vers une économie décarbonée.
