Hey, team Danesa here, welcome back to the Building Better
Humans Project podcast. I don't know about you, guys, but
it's so close to Christmas off his own a few
days away, and it doesn't really have that Christmas feel yet.
But anyway, we've done all our Christmas shopping, we're organized,
we're excited milling myself obviously, and the boys love Christmas,
so we are looking forward to it. But yeah, it
just hasn't quite hit the Christmas vibe just yet. I've

been busy right up to it. But anyway, for those
people that are new to this podcast, this podcast is
about real conversations, real lessons, and real tools to help
you live, lead, and show up better in your life mentally, physically,
and emotionally. And today's an important one because it's about
self belief. And this isn't the Instagram kind or the
loud chest beating, fake it to your make it kind.

It's the kind of belief that shows up long before
you have any evidence that you deserve it. Now. The
truth is, and we don't say this often enough, but
you don't get to wait until you arrive to believe
in yourself. You have to at some level. Believe in
yourself first. So many people tell themselves, I'll be more
confident when I'm fitter, or look differently when I get

a promotion, when the business starts, become profitable, when people
take me seriously, when I've earned it. But that mindset
is backwards, because belief isn't the reward at the end
of the journey. Belief is the engine that gets you
moving in the first place. If you wait until you
feel ready, you literally never start. If you wait until
you feel worthy, you'll just stay stuck. If you wait

until you have proof, you'll always be behind the people
who didn't. I want to tell your story from Floyd
Mayweth Junior. For those who don't know. Floyd, possibly the
best boxer in the modern generation, retired with a record
of fifty to oho won multiple world titles. But here's
a story of his that a lot of people don't
know that's stuck with me. He talked once about his
first amateur fight in nineteen eighty seven. He said he

was ten years old, he weighed sixty four pounds. He
was the youngest and smallest kid on the team before
the fight. His dad was also his coach, made him
a stake at a place called Ponder, and he won
the fight by first round knockout. And then Floyd said
something that mattered far more than a knockout. He said,
I slept with my trophy for two weeks. Now, think
about that. That wasn't about money, That wasn't about fame,

That wasn't about an undefeated record. That was a child
proving something to himself, a kid who was too small,
who didn't have the body yet, who didn't have the reputation,
but stepped into the ring believing him belong there. That
belief came before the career, before the greatness, before the
world agreed. Now that story isn't special because Floyd became

Floyd Mayweather. It's special because every meaningful journey starts the
same way, with belief that looks irrational to outsiders, with
confidence that hasn't been validated yet, with a mindset that
says I don't have the results yet, but I'm acting
like the person who will get those results. That's the
part people don't like talking about, because early self belief

can look like arrogance, it can look like delusion, it
can look like you're getting ahead of yourself. But the
truth is at the beginning. Self belief is a little delusional,
and that's okay. Every person who's done something meaningful believed
before they had permission. They trained before they were good,
they spoke before they were confident. They showed up before

they were welcomed. They didn't wait for certainty, because certainty
doesn't come before action, it comes after repetition. If Floyd
waited until he earned belief, he wouldn't have walked into
that ring like he belonged there. If you wait until
the world agrees with you, you're already late. Now you
don't have to be a boxer. You don't have to

want fame, you don't need some massive goal. This applies
to you too. If you're trying to change your life,
you're rebuilding confidence, you're starting over, you're leading others or
quietly trying not to quit. You're allowed to believe in
yourself before the scoreboard changes. You are allowed to act
like the person you're becoming, not the one you used

to be. Need permission, you don't need validation, You do
not need applause. What you need is consistency. Instead of
asking do I deserve to believe in myself? Yet, ask
what would the version of me who does believe do
today then do that one rep one step, one decision.

That's how belief becomes real. We all need a sleeping
with the trophy moment, not for the world, not for
social media, but for ourselves. Something small, something personal, something
that says I showed up. Protect that feeling, remember it,
build on it, because that's how confidence grows quietly, privately
and over time. Belief doesn't come after the journey, it

starts it. And sometimes to build something real you have
to believe a little earlier than make sense. And again
that's not arrogance, that's courage. Just a remind to him.

one to thirty one, thirty one days of a kickstart program,

every single day, an actionable thing that you can do,
a mindset, tip, a tool, a trick, something that's going

to help move you forward for thirty one days straight
as a kickstart into your twenty twenty six and it's
going to start on the first of January. I'd love
you to lock in on that and use it. It's free,
you can literally do that. But also at the end
of that, I'm going to be running a twelve month program.
Now you can stay there for three, six or twelve months.
It'll be a little bit cheaper if you stay committed
for the whole twelve months. But we're going to do

something magical together next year. We're gonna make twenty twenty
six the best year that we've ever had, not just
you me as well That's the goal for me, you,
all of us, because that is what the Building Better
Humans Project is all about. Your self belief is going
to start with you, but I can tell you I'm

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm.
