Hard Work is a choice, Attitude is a choice, discipline
is a choice. Doing extra is a choice. Excellence is
a choice. Heyteen that as are here. Welcome back to
the building at a Humans Project podcast. I love the
concept that everything we do, everything we choose to do,
(00:31):
is a choice. People don't typically get lucky, and certainly
not on a consistent enough basis for that to be
why they succeed in life. People get lucky because they
show up, They do the hard work, they have a
good attitude, they have discipline towards what it is they're
trying to achieve. They do extras even though it's not
required of them. Therefore, they create excellence. And that's a choice.
(00:53):
When we make the assumption that they've been luckier than
we have, or gifted in some way, they've been helped
along the path. When we buy into that, all we're doing,
realistically is giving ourselves an excuse not to have those things.
When someone achieves more than you, gets put onto a
team that you didn't get put onto, get promoted ahead
(01:14):
of you, just gets given things that seemingly come quite easy,
just ask yourself a question, are they doing more than
you're doing? Are they working harder than you do. They
have a better attitude than what you do. What are
they bringing to the table that you don't bring to
the table. Because sporting teams, coaches will put on the
(01:35):
best players they can because they want to win. Managers, employers,
they're going to move people through the chain that do
the best for the team and for the business. You
might have a greater skill set than this person, but
they might connect with everyone better and get the most
out of people. There is something that they're doing better
than you. They're not just getting promoted or put onto
(01:57):
teams or given opportunities just because someone likes them more
than they like you. But even if that was true,
why they like them more than they like you? I
think it still comes down to the better attitude, They
work harder, they do the extras. Again, there is something
that someone getting more than you is doing more than you.
They're doing it better than you. And once you succumb
(02:20):
to that, you can then go out and work out, well,
how can I do more as well? How can I
do better? As opposed to just being the victim who
says life just doesn't work out for me.
