Hey, team gnaes are here, Welcome back to the building.
At a Humans Project podcast on Wednesday, I talk about
being stuck in your job, so I thought i'd approtest
from another angle. This is around leadership, because I think
at some level, when people feel stuck in jobs, well,
the leadership has something to answer for as well. So
today I want to speak directly to those you and
leadership roles. Now, this is where you own a business,
manage your team, will influence others through your actions because
(00:32):
the treat is leadership isn't about control, It's about culture.
It's about the environment you create every single day, not
just through what you say, but how you show up,
how you treat people, how you handle pressure, and how
you make others feel in your presence. You set the tone.
And here's the truth. If people in your team feel stuck, drained,
or underappreciated, that's not just the job. That's the culture.
(00:55):
And the culture is partially a large part your responsibility.
Let's flip the script on leadership today. Here are five
ways to build a culture where people feel valued, empowered
and proud to belong. One is acknowledge people, not just performance.
It's easy to praise numbers, but what about the human
behind them? Take time to notice the effort, the late nights,
(01:17):
the quiet consistency. Look people in the eye and say
I see you, I appreciate you. That's free and it's
fuel for loyalty. To lead with presence, not pressure. Leadership
is about being available emotionally, not just physically. Are you
someone people can talk to without fear or are they
tiptoeing around your mood? Create space for honest conversations. Listen
(01:40):
without trying to fix everything. Just be present. Build a
vision bigger than a paycheck. People stay where they feel
like they're a part of something, not just working for someone.
Share the mission. Remind your team why what they do matters.
Purpose is more powerful motivator than pressure will ever be for.
Don't micromanage empower. The best leaders don't create followers, They
(02:05):
build leaders in training. Give people autonomy, let them take ownership,
trust them to fail forward. When people feel trusted, they rise.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Five.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
Make growth a part of the culture. If people don't
feel like they're growing, they'll eventually go looking for it elsewhere.
That doesn't mean promotions every year. It means learning, stretching,
trying new things, and being challenged in a supportive way.
Here's the bottom line. You don't build a great business,
you build great people, and they build the business. Culture
isn't a poster on the wall, it's how your people
(02:37):
feel on a random Tuesday when no one's watching. So,
if you're the leader, lead with heart, lead with humanity,
Lead in the way that people around you leave work
better than they arrived, not just because they had to
be there, but because they wanted to be there. That's
how you build better humans. It starts with how you
lead them.
