A team glenes are here. Welcome back to the Building
Better Humans Project podcast. Now, before we dive in, if
this podcast has ever sparke to shift in your mindset,
or given you a takeaway or made you think differently,
I'd love it if you take thirty seconds to rate
and review the show. Now. It helps more good humans
like you find us and it keeps this movement growing. Now,
let's talk about leadership, and I want to tie it

(00:31):
into the six human needs, the psychological human needs that
we talked about in the last episode. As a leader,
your job isn't just to manage people, it's to understand people.
And one of the best ways to do that is
to understand what drives them. So today we're diving into
Tony Robin's six core human psychological needs and how you
can use these to build a better culture, reduce turnover,

(00:53):
and create a place that people want to be. This
is the stuff I work on with leadership teams all
the time and it works. So just a rehash of
the six core human needs and how they show up
at Workumber One is certainty, So people want to feel safe. Secure.
That doesn't mean comfortable, It means knowing what's expected, having
clear communication and a stable environment. As a leader, ask yourself,

(01:16):
do your people feel safe to speak up? Do they
trust the direction of the team, and is your communication
clear and consistent? Number two is variety. At the same time,
people need a challenge, something that stretches them, excites and
makes them feel like they're growing. Are you giving your
team opportunities to try new things, to problem solve, to lead.
Number three is significance. Every human wants to feel like

(01:38):
they matter, like their contribution means something. You don't need
a trophy system for that. You just need to acknowledge
effort and impact. A five minute conversation can shift someone's
whole week. Number four is love and connection. People want
to feel like they belong, like they're a part of
something bigger. Do your people feel connected to the mission
and to each other. Do you create space for human

(01:59):
connection not just KPI check ins? Number five is growth.
If your team isn't growing, they're stagnating. And when people
are stagnate, they disengage. Invest in their development, not just
technical training, but mindset, leadership, communication. If you grow your people,
your business will follow. And number six is contribution. People

(02:20):
want to know their work matters, that they're building something,
helping someone, making a difference, show them the impact of
what they do, not just in spreadsheets, but in stories.
When you meet these six needs in healthy, consistent ways,
here's what happens. Engagement goes up, turnover goes down, and
team culture improves and people become advocates, not just employees.

(02:43):
You don't need ping pong tables or beanbags to create
a workplace that people love. You need leadership that understands humans.
So to wrap that up, the best leaders aren't the
ones with the loudest voice. They're the ones who create
environments where people feel seen, supported and significant. So, if
you're a leader, a manager, a business owner, start asking yourself,

(03:05):
how well do I understand what drives my team? How
can I intentionally meet those needs through my culture, systems
and conversations? Because when you lead through human needs, you
don't just build a better workplace, you build better humans.
And if this is something you know your team needs,
then reach out because this is literally what I do leadership, mentoring,
team building, culture transformation, and the results honestly speak for themselves.
