Hey, team Gleadas are here. We're going back to the
Building Better Humans Project podcast. Today we're doing the last
of our listener content sessions and this one I feel
like we're talking about something that can make or break
your success, and that is your inner circle. And you'll
hear me talk a lot about who you surround yourself with, etc.
But it's incredibly powerful. So it's something that I will
(00:32):
always always bang on about because I really do think
it's that important. There's a saying that says, show me
your friends, and I'll show you your future. Because the
truth is that the people you spend most time with
will either pull you up or drag you down. They'll
either challenge you to level up or they'll keep you
comfortable where you are right now. If you want to grow,
(00:54):
you've got to pay attention to your environment. Motivation, discipline,
and drive are all important. But if your inner circle
doesn't support your growth, then you're fighting an uphill battle.
The people around you are either adding energy or they're
draining it. So today we're going to talk about how
to build it in a circle that fuels your fire. Now,
(01:14):
this episode is brought to you by Adventure professionals where
challenge builds character and community builds strength. When you track Kakoda,
climb Mount Kilimanjaro, or some at the Aussie ten Peaks,
you're not just going on an adventure. You're joining a
tribe of people who lift each other higher. That's the
power of your circle in action. Learn more at www.
(01:35):
Dot Adventure Professionals dot com dot AU. So let's talk
about why you're inner circle matters. Your environment will shape
your expectations. If you're surrounded by people who complain, make excuses,
and play small, that becomes your normal. If you're surrounded
by people who dream big, who take action, and who
(01:56):
hold each other accountable, that becomes your normal. Jim Rohan
most famously said, you're the average of the five people
spend the most time with. And that's not just about
money or success. It's about mindset, energy, health, and most importantly,
personal standards. If you hang out with people who treat
(02:17):
health like a joke, chances are your standards will drop two.
But if you hang around people who take pride in
their growth, you'll naturally elevate to MATSim. I've been blessed
to have many, many strong people around me. Throughout my
life in the Army, you quickly learn the power of
your team. You can be the toughest person alive. But
(02:37):
if your section isn't solid, if they don't have your back,
oh you're going to find yourself in a bit of trouble.
When I built Adventure Professionals, I made a conscious choice
to surround myself with people who shared my values, people
who weren't afraid of hard work, people who loved helping others,
people who were growth minded. And now with the Building
Better Humans project, that same principle applies. I only collaborate
(03:01):
with people who align with our mission, people like Millie
who live and breathe growth, courage, and authenticity. I couldn't
be with someone else. I couldn't be with someone that
wasn't about building people up, or someone that just lived
passively in life. That couldn't be the right person to
spend my time with. Because when you build the right
(03:21):
team of people in your personal and professional life, everything
becomes possible. Now I've seen his play out in others too.
I've worked with young men at bro Camp and they've
come from tough environments, friends in trouble, family breakdowns, no
real role models and you could see the potential, but
their circle was toxic. Then they spend a week on
(03:44):
camp surrounded by people who believe in them, people who
challenge them, people who hold them accountable, and you see
things starting to change. Their posture changes, the way they
carry themselves, their energy changes, the way they show up.
They start to believe that maybe I'm capable of more
because the people around them believe they're capable of more.
(04:04):
That's the power of your environment. You don't rise to
your goals, you rise or fall to the standards of
your circle. So let's talk about how you could build
a powerful inner circle. Step number one is order your
current circle. Ask yourself who do I spend the most
time with, and for each person, do they lift me,
(04:25):
drain me, or keep me comfortable. Step two is to
communicate your growth. Sometimes the people closest to you aren't bad,
they just don't understand your journey. Let them know where
you're heading, give them the chance to come with you.
I love nothing more than lifting and taking people with me.
But not everyone wants to go on the journey, and
(04:45):
that's their choice, and that's okay. Step three is to
create proximity to power. Get around people who are doing
what you want to do. Join communities and tend events,
listen to podcasts, take part in programs. Even virtual proximity
changes your mindset. Step number for as to build a
(05:05):
board of directors for your life. So it's a weird one,
but I've got people I go to for business advice,
fitness advice, mindset relationships. You don't need one mentor. You
need a network of people who can challenge and guide you.
And step number five is be the kind of person
that others want in their circle. Bring value, be positive,
(05:26):
encourage others. The best way to attract great people is
to become one. So here's your challenge. Write down five
people that you spend the most time with. Each one asked,
do they lift me, drain me, or challenge me? Make
one small change. Spend more time with the lifters and
a little bit less time with the drainness. You'd have
(05:48):
to come out And if you don't have that circle yet,
now is the time to go out and start to
build it. You'll be amazed by how much faster you
can grow when you're surrounded by the right people. Now,
just a quick message, if you are ready to surround
yourself with growth minded peace. I'd love you to get
online and join my twelve week Design your Life program.
(06:09):
It's full of people who are serious about leveling up
and supporting each other. You'll start to become a part
of our winner circle. Or maybe you want some more
personal guidance. There's that one on one stuff. Milli and
I are both running programs next year together. We've got
a twelve month program. There's a real base level if
you just want to have regular contact, but not a
whole weekly push. And then we've got a really intense one,
(06:30):
which is, you know, we're going to work hard for
twelve months and we're going to take people on this
crazy journey that's going to lift them into having the
best twelve months that they've ever lived. That's the goal
at least, and I don't care if you're eighteen or
if you're seventy eight, I don't care. We want to
take you on that journey. So spend twelve months with
us regular catch ups, one on ones and group format
(06:50):
and you're going to find yourself in a pretty cool
in a circle. And as always, sign up to an adventure.
Head over to Adventure Professionals dot com dot au. I've
got a heap of stuff going on for Kakota next
year Aussie ten Mount Kilimanjaro. You'll literally be out in
the rugged environment of those adventure experiences with people like
minded who will lift you up. It's an absolutely phenomenal
(07:11):
way to change your circle. Now, I when I say
this to finish off, you can't do big things with
small minded people. Your circle will either stretch you or
shrink you. So you really really really really really really
maybe to who really is in there. But you really
need to think wisely about the time the energy that
you give people because they do impact you. But then
(07:33):
one key thing in all of this is again be
the person others one in their circle because you want
to bring the energy that helps lift other people up.
This isn't just about what we can take, it's what
we can give as well. Team. This is the Building
Better Humans AP project brought to you by Adventure Professionals,
