Speaker 2 (00:10):
Hey team that as are here walking back to the
Building Better Humans Project podcast. On Wednesday, are talked about
owning your power. Now I want to talk about owning
your choices. So this is a quote, like many of them,
will hit hard, but it's one that I love from
Peter McWilliams that said we are all right now living
the life that we choose. And that quote, to be honest,

(00:30):
it's stopped me in my tracks a bit because, whether
we want to admit it or not, it forces a
hard truth into the open. Our current life, your career,
your health, your relationships, your mindset is a reflection of
the choices that we've all made, the habits that we've built,
the chances that we took or didn't take. And before
we go any further, as always, I want to make

(00:51):
things really clear that this quote isn't about blame. It's
not saying every hardship in your life is your fault,
because life can throw you curve balls, tragedies, things that
you never asked for. But how we respond to those things,
what we do with what we've been given, that's where
the choice lives. If you're stuck, there's probably something that

(01:11):
you've chosen not to do the phone call, that you're
not making, the habit that you're not breaking, that leap
that you're too afraid to take. If you're unhappy, there's
a decision. Most likely that you've been postponing a conversation,
that you're avoiding a truth that you're not ready to face.
It might be staying in a job that drains you,
or relationship that stifles you, or a lifestyle that numbs you.

(01:34):
But let's flip that coin. If you're thriving, if you're fulfilled, fit,
focus driven, that didn't happen by accident. Either, you've made
choices that are aligned with your goals. You've shown up,
you've taken ownership. And that's really the heart of it.
This isn't a message of guilt. It's a message of power.
You get to choose every single day. You get to

(01:58):
choose how you respond to adversity. You get to choose
whether you make excuses or make progress. You get to
choose what kind of parent, partner, leader, friend, or human
that you're going to be. And yeah, some days are
harder than others. Some seasons of life feel like they're
happening to you instead of for you. But even then
you're not powerless. You might not control the storm, but

(02:22):
you can still adjust your sales. So the question is
what are you choosing? Are you choosing growth or comfort,
action or avoidance, courage or fear, Because here's the truth,
no one really wants to hear. In Action is a choice,
just settling is a choice. Waiting for the right time

(02:43):
is a choice. You don't have to have it all
figured out. You just have to own where you are
and start steering from there. Here's a personal reflection. I've
lived this one. There have been time to my life
where I looked around and thought, how did I end
up here? Whether it was physical health, emotional wellbeing, finances, relationships.

(03:05):
I had to admit I got here because of a
series of choices, some conscious, some not, and the beautiful, painful,
empowering truth. If my choice has got me here, then
new choices can take me somewhere else. If this quote
hit you in the chest like it did for me,
good that means you're awake, you're aware, you're ready. You

(03:28):
don't have to do a full one eighty today, but maybe,
just maybe it's time to have the hard conversation to
start the thing you've been avoiding. To stop giving your
power away by blaming circumstances or people, because you get
to write your story, and if you don't like the
chapter you're in, you get to turn the page. So

(03:50):
let's come full circle. We are all right now living
the life we choose. If you don't like what you're living,
choose again. If you do, then keep choosing it intentionally
and proudly forget this. The life you're living is yours.
Own it, shape it, change it. You're not stuck. You're

(04:12):
just one decision away from a completely different outcome. That's it, team,
