Heyteen Glenas are here. Welcome back to the Building Better
Humans Project podcast. Today we're going to talk more about
leadership because I talked about leadership last Friday and it
resonated with a few people. Now, my background is very
much steeped in leadership. I was seventeen years in the
Australian Army. I've served in war zones and non war
zones around the world, and in all of those zones

(00:31):
I went over in leadership roles. So I started my
first employment as a section commander. So I understand leadership
in some pretty powerful environments and some pretty tough environments.
If you feel that you need some help around leadership,
because there's not a lot of real time training for leaders,
then please hit me up and I can help mentor
you through that. Now, if you hit the if you
go through the show notes, you'll see a link to

(00:52):
some one on ones. It'll tell you my availability. Drop
me an email Glenmouth two ends at glenaesar dot com
and I'll do my best to find a time to
hook up for you. Today's messages for the leaders, for
the coaches, business owners, managers and anyone responsible for guiding
others because here's something I believe to my core. No team,
no business, no organization will ever outgrow its leadership. I

(01:16):
want you to hear that again. No team, no business,
no organization will ever outgrow its leadership. You are the ceiling,
your mindset, your habits, your growth. That's the lid on
how far your team can go. So if you're not
leading yourself, well you can't expect to lead others.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Well.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
This is the uncomfortable truth about leadership. It's not about
managing people. It's about managing yourself, your emotions, your energy,
your standards, your discipline, your direction. So let's talk a
bit about that. Point Number one, Energy is contagious. To
protect yours, you set the tone. Walk into a room flat,
drained or distracted. Your team will feel it before you

(01:58):
say a word. Becoming focused, calm, and grounded that energy
that lifts the room. So how do you manage that? Sleep, hydration, nutrition, movement. Yes,
I know they're basic, but those are the things that
still apply to leaders. Create spacing your week, to reset,
not just to work harder, Learn to say no to

(02:21):
protect your Yes, your team doesn't need a marty, they
need a model. Point two is mindset, shapes culture. If
you're reactive, negative, or operating from fear, your team will
mirror that. But if you show up with resilience, you're
calm under pressure and a solution's focused attitude. That becomes

(02:41):
the culture. So ask yourself, do I create a safe
space or a tense one? Do I focus on blame?
Or do I focus on growth? Am I coaching or
just commanding? You can't build a growth culture if you're
not growing yourself. Point three, your habits set the standard.

(03:01):
Leadership isn't what you demand, it's what you demonstrate. Are
you constantly learning? Are you consistent with your time and communication?
Do you show up the same energy on Wednesday afternoon
as you do in a Monday morning meeting. Your habits
give your team permission either to rise or to retreat.

(03:22):
And step number four is lead yourself before you lead others.
Every leader needs a mirror, not just a goal, not
just a strategy, a mirror, and they should be asking
themselves this question or these questions in the mirror. Am
I operating at the level I'm expecting from others? Where
am I coasting? What part of my character or capability

(03:44):
needs development? Right now? Make time to review yourself, get
a mentor, read, reflect, evolve, because leadership is not a
title you earn once. It's a commitment that you must
renew daily again. Teams you want help in this area,
If you're looking for a mentor, you want someone that
can hold you accountable, that can teach you some leadership skills,

(04:05):
then get in touch with me personally and I'll do
the best that I can to fit you into my
busy schedule to make sure that you lead with passion
and with purpose.
