Durante seis meses, a repórter Angela Boldrini viajou pelo país para reconstituir a história e investigar os desdobramentos sociais, políticos e médicos provocados por ela. A disputa em torno do aborto legal nesse caso de 2020 se tornaria nacional, com repercussões até hoje.
