O escritor palestino Edward Said e o pianista judeu-argentino Daniel Barenboim fundaram a West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, formada por músicos israelenses e palestinos, com o objetivo de promover diálogo, igualdade e justiça, defendendo que não há solução militar para o conflito árabe-israelense. A orquestra, de altíssimo nível artístico, realiza concertos pelo mundo com grandes regentes e solistas.
Agora, o West-Eastern Divan Ensemble, grupo de câmara com músicos de destaque da orquestra, liderados por Michael Barenboim (filho de Daniel), fará quatro apresentações na temporada do Cultura Artística. O programa inclui obras de Beethoven e Schubert, com variações:
25 e 26 de maio: Beethoven – Quarteto de cordas n. 11; Schubert – Octeto D. 803
28 e 29 de maio: Beethoven – Septeto op. 20; Schubert – Quarteto “Rosamunde”
