Conservative Party of BC leader John Rustad joins Steve Young.
Rustad says there were people who were not Canadian citizens that were voting, but Elections BC says all voters must affirm they meet eligibility criteria (including citizenship) before voting, and there are significant penalties for making false statements and registering or voting when not eligible. Elections BC also contests other characterizations by Rustad, saying assisted telephone voting for people with disabilities preventing them from voting independently involves mandatory verification of one's identity and residence with an election official prior to being permitted to vote.
CFAX has had Elections BC on to talk about this issue this week, and more coverage of this story is to come.
