- (00:03):
Hello and welcome to another week's edition of the wonderful
Waller show. And we had a good weekend last weekend
with a beautiful little quinella in Hinged and Buckaroo. Never
seen such an upset owner in poor old Brae. And
despite getting beaten by his own horse.
Yes, yes. Happened in the Melbourne Cup too I think.

(00:26):
Yeah it did.
It did. Verry Elleegant. Upstaged. Incentivized. Yeah. But Brae's a good,
good supporter of ours. And passionate. Yes. I guess he
had a bigger share in that. He did in Buckaroo.
Well, it's his colours.
Oh of course. Yeah. But, yeah, it was a good result.
Both horses ran well. And she doesn't know she got beat.
No, no, she does not.

(00:46):
And they're in for good preps which is the most
important thing.
Yeah. We've we've had a lot of feedback about our Winx
and Winx movie finally released.
Much said about me. The actor.
Uh.
You stuck with me for.
A bit longer. Yeah. I haven't had any calls from Hollywood.
No. Not one. No. Not even a message?

(01:08):
No, no, no mention of any stars being put in
the pavement or anything. No, no.
More likely to get a horse in there instead of
your name.
Yeah, but no, there has been some good feedback and. Yeah,
I guess it gave a few people some insight into
what Winx Winx life was all about for us, wasn't it?
In 2026, they have to run her race somewhere else. Oh, well.

(01:30):
Cox plate? Yeah.
Where do you think it should be?
Oh, I don't know. It's going to be hard to
replicate the valley, isn't it? Yeah, it's going to be.
You need to. Surely you want it around a tight
turning track, so it's vaguely similar, don't you?
Maybe. Oh, Flemington's pretty good, isn't it?
I don't know. Put it around Gosford and Wyong or something.
That's like Moonee Valley. Yeah. Run it back to front.

(01:54):
Move the winning post like they do at Hawkesbury.
I'm sure there'll be some smart people out there with
some good ideas.
Yeah, it'll be interesting. And we had one guy here today. Yes.
Guy's been here for a few days.
Yeah.
Knocking us into shape.
Yep. Getting geared up for the old Tattersalls horse and
training sales.
Bought some good horses out of there over the years.
We have. But quite the last couple, I think. Last

(02:15):
couple guys keen to refine a few things and go
back to speculating a few horses. Not paying too much money.
And back to basics. Mhm.
I said we need some runners in the Melbourne Cup.
We don't have to pay a fortune for. So if
you're interested Charlie's your man.
Guy's your man too. Yeah. Yep. Anyway, without further ado,

(02:39):
we'll rip into this weekend. We'll start off with the
Group 1. Yes. Makybe Diva Stakes. Good hand in there.
You've got multiple Group 1 winner, Atishu .
Yes. Loves Flemington. Charles. Uh, first up run was pass mark.
They sprinted home and sort of left her a little
bit flat footed, but a mile around Flemington likes.

(03:01):
Flemington.
Loves Flemington, loves Flemington.
Then another multiple Group one winner in Via Sistina. Yes,
she's unbeaten at Flemington.
Yes, she is too. Yeah. And Moonee Valley. Yeah, yeah.
Well, what she is.
Um. So. Yeah, she's come back. Well, 400m was brilliant.
First up. She'll be better over a mile. Trained all well.

(03:23):
And arrived at Flemington in good shape. So thoroughly looking
forward to her run.
And just explain. Taking the horses down from Rosehill to Flemington. Um,
gone down a couple of days early this time.
Yeah, yeah, they've done their work. Three weeks between runs. Uh,
things can always happen with travelling. So you try and

(03:45):
get them down early and helps negotiate any issues of
travelling and get some nice and settled. And having your
own base at Flemington is a big plus.
Okay then. We've just got two in the Sofitel in Chrysaor
and Snowman.
Yeah. Snowman was a little bit plain first up, but
I think we'll ride him a bit more conservative this start.

(04:07):
And Chris, your James McDonald rode him this morning, which is, uh,
what we're doing this video on Tuesday. So yesterday morning,
if you're watching it on Wednesday, two days ago if
you're watching on Thursday, three.
Days ago, if you watch it on Friday.
Right, Charlie, who would be watching this that late? No.
They'd be waiting, wouldn't they? They'd be like the blockbusters.

(04:28):
They'd be like your finger ready to push the button. Um, yeah.
So he worked very well for James McDonald on Tuesday morning.
He did indeed. Without further ado, we'll rip up to
Rosehill Gardens in the Theo Marks. You've got a mighty
old hand in there. In Molly Bloom, we have Charles.
Yes, she's a Group 1 winner in New Zealand. New Zealand,

(04:48):
three year old filly of the year, in fact. So, um,
I'm starting to warm to her work the last ten days.
Good with Emirate this morning, wasn't it? Very good. Scorched
the turf. Osipenko.
He's come back. Well, um.
Fit needs left a little bit.
Does a little bit, but no, this is his type

(05:09):
of race. I wouldn't, I wouldn't say it's an overly
strong Theo Marks.
Okay. Redeiner.
He's come back. Well, she has come didn't he.
Mhm. Mhm. He has come back. Well.
Good horse. Yeah. He's he's likely to need a run
or two. He hasn't run for a long time but
he looks well. He's come back well.

(05:30):
And Tannhauser down on the minimum.
Trod nicely last week. And he's come through that well.
He was pretty good like that first run as a
gelding in Queensland. The rough habit. He smoked them.
Yeah, absolutely.
So he's come back well and he'll run a cheeky
race 1300. But he'll be better once he gets slashing.

(05:51):
Run better once he gets to a mile Okay.
Two in the Run to the Rose. Two gun colts.
Find out what they're made of. Really? With Emirate being
your first runner? Yes.
Um, bringing winter form into the spring. I don't see
that as a negative at all, because the way he
was winning. Josh. PA, give him an almighty rap when
he won at Rosehill. Uh, he's trained on well since

(06:14):
he's matured and furnished into a lovely colt.
And Switzerland, who, of course, carries the penalty for being
so successful as a two year old.
Yeah, he did a good job. And he's fresh up
here as a three year old. Uh, his trials have
been good. His work's been good. Um, Jason Collett takes
over from James McDonald, who, of course, is in Melbourne

(06:36):
for the day. And yeah, James has done all his
work on this horse and said he's worked very, very
well and he's pretty happy with how he's come back.
Then into the Sheraco stakes. Oh, it's a good race.
The star. The star?
Yeah Jolly stars come back. Well. Weekend in Paris is
in the race as well. Good filly there. Both Group

(06:58):
one horses, obviously. So it'll be a good match. Race
be a very good race. But jolly stars come through
her win. Well, Kerrin McEvoy takes over from James who's
in Melbourne. But we don't lose much there. If anything,
we might even gain something because, uh, Kieran's association doesn't.
Get beaten in those colours.

(07:19):
No, no. Brendan and Joe Lindsay, Cambridge Stud love, Kerrin McEvoy.
So do we.
Yeah we do. Yeah.
Made it sound like it was just them. We love Kerrin.
Yeah okay. Into the Ming Dynasty. Imperial Force a definite runner.
Yeah, I think so. Um, it's hard doing it on
Tuesday when the fields aren't out, but, um, I'm happy

(07:41):
enough with the horse. I think we're right. A bit
quieter on Saturday. I think we rode him too close
the other day.
Then the, uh, the filly who James McDonald tipped as
the best filly not just in the Chris Waller Racing yard,
but the best three year old filly going. Lady Shenandoah,
didn't he? Well, yes and no.

(08:01):
He had a gun to his head.
I don't care.
Yeah. Um, she's a nice filly. Uh, this this is
a big step. First up. Uh, but we're sort of.
It's either flight stakes, then she can run the city,
she has to run the Saturday, or we missed the
flight stakes and go 2000 guineas. We'll see how she draws.

(08:23):
Make a call Saturday morning. But she's a good filly.
Okay, then. A colt in the same colors. And Mister Artemisa.
Yeah, so probably unlikely that you'd run both of them.
He's second up only ten days after his first up
run from memory. Uh, there's no rush with him either,
but he's like a spring champion type colt, so he.

(08:44):
There's no rush. There's still plenty of time to get
through to that race, so we'd like to run one
of them.
That might be the end of the group racing. But
the next race is exciting. The 1800 meter, 88 unusual
legacy versus up and under. It doesn't take.
Much to get you excited.
What a match race those two have you got? Who's
your pick and use your legacy versus up and under.
00I hope unusual legacy wins my heart got a share

(09:09):
in it or my wife has no up and under. Um, yeah.
He's he's capable. He's working towards something decent and unusual.
Legacy was a cracker first up, wasn't he?
Wasn't he what? Okay. Into the 7815. We've got a
couple of couple of interesting runners here with the likes of. Aha.

(09:32):
Sorry ally. He's not going. Probably going to run Wednesday.
Firestorm and Chica mojito I was going to say you've
got group group horses racing at benchmark level.
Yes. So Firestorm seems to seems to have come back
very well. Her winter or late autumn and winter form
was very good and she's come back a little bit better.
And chica mojitos trialed very well. I think she ran

(09:54):
fourth in the, uh, Queensland Guineas in the in the winter.
Didn't get a lot of luck with tracks and things
like that. But she's also come back. Well so you're right,
we've got two good horses in a benchmark race.
I actually missed one out. Oh. Marymount bullet.
She was placed in the Oaks Group one placed in
the Oaks. So yeah, that's the beauty of the handicapping

(10:17):
system in Australia. They don't over penalize you. Um, and
it's giving them a chance to win some good prize
money on the way through to their better distances. So
Mare of Mount Buller is probably the standout of the three.
But she, she I reckon she started favourite in the Phar
lap stakes like she was. She was going very well
the first part of her um the autumn.

(10:38):
You also will have Cadetship who's racing in great form. Mhm.
Uh, yeah. Cadetship. He's very consistent. He's carrying a bit
of weight now so it'll come down to barrier draws
for a horse like cadetship.
And a heater.
Blinkers on. They say she'll improve significantly. Okay so a
little bit disappointing last start but with the blinkers on uh,

(11:01):
she'll run better.
Okay. And last but certainly not least is step aside.
Yes, he's in Melbourne. But if he draws well, it's
likely he'll come up for the good prize money on offer. Um,
he's been very consistent down there. He had no luck
last start. He's still trying to get out. Okay. So, um. Yeah.

(11:22):
Good barrier. You'll see him turn up in Sydney and run. Well.
Then into the 2400 metre race, you've got the two brothers,
Kureder and Kapa Kiri, who just follow each other around
the countryside. They do, don't they? They love it, don't they?
They do.
Yeah. Whoever draws better you back. That one. That's right.
Is that how it works?
Yeah. Or who? James is riding, but he's not riding

(11:42):
anyone this week. Where is.
He? He's in.
Melbourne. He's in Melbourne? Yeah. The sweet week. James is
in Melbourne. Yeah. Um, so with James being in Melbourne,
we've got different jockeys on them, but they're good jockeys. Yeah.
My word. Yeah.
Uh, James can't ride both of them anyway because he's
in Melbourne. Yeah. Yeah. Correct. So, um. Uh, Matusalem is
probably better than them, though.

(12:03):
Oh, matusalem. Okay, here's one for you. I promised one
of the owners that if he's not a good horse, he's. I'll.
I'll eat my hat when he was two.
The old Parramatta.
Hat. No, I wouldn't eat that hat. It's gold and
hurt my teeth. What's the good horse? Does he qualify
as a good horse? Yeah. He's multiple. Sanity winner.

(12:25):
Yeah, that's a good horse. Yep.
Yep. You don't have to be a good horse. So
I don't have to eat a hat. No. Okay. No.
He hasn't finished yet either. He might win the Metropolitan. Oh,
if he wins the 2400m on Saturday, go straight to the.
Straight to the.
Metrop. Yeah, I was going to say the tab or
the wherever. You bet these days.
No, it's not a punting show. Oh, yeah? Yeah. Anyway,

(12:48):
we also have first light. Book your tickets.
And go and watch them.
Go and watch him live. Yeah. Give him a pat.
First light. Uh, he's he's working his way into some form.
James McDonald, who's in Melbourne this Saturday. Um, wrote him
last night, and he said he's ready to win over 2400. Yeah.
I don't know if that meant if James was writing

(13:10):
him himself, that he would win on him. Yeah, but
he can't. He can't. Melbourne. Yeah. This week.
Anyway, we've also got three runners up. Up the coast
to Eagle Farm. Well, we've actually only got two because
Superchille is in twice and she can't run twice in
one day. But she'll be racing in one. And also
Kirkeby who's still in Sydney at present.

(13:31):
Yes.
So mine might end up with just the one. Could
Superchilled racing well though.
She's racing very well. Yeah. Better barrier would help her. Yeah.
And as you said, Kirkeby might stay in Sydney and
run the following week. James McDonald will be back.
Very good.
He's in Melbourne this week.
Yeah he is. I hope he doesn't get stuck down there.
What else have we got on this piece of paper

(13:52):
to whip around? Anything? No. No. What's your best shrew?
Charlie's my best. Oh, well, you you put me in
Barrier 18 with Emirate last week, which was a disaster
for me. So I kind of almost have to stick
solid with them again, but it's a bit harder going
in the run to the Rose versus the benchmark race
last Saturday.
Oh, Switzerland. Ooh.

(14:12):
Storm boy and a few others. It's a good race.
A cracking race, cracking race.
But I'm going. Unusual Legacy. Oh, thanks. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Well,
I don't have an excellent weekend, actually. Have an excellent
whole week because you get this video so early now.
It's that exciting. You can be buzzing from Wednesday right

(14:34):
the way through to Saturday. Watch it.
Three times.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner with Chris and Charlie.
