S1 (00:03):
Hello and welcome to this week's preview show and review
show of winners gone by and future winners coming left,
right and center and upcoming haircuts. Yes, yes. Going to
get one soon, we hope. If we get three group
ones this Saturday, I'll get one and we're in four,

(00:23):
so I'm not even putting that much pressure on you okay.
First Light and Firestorm. The two winners from Saturday. Very good.
Both very good. Yes.

S2 (00:32):
Set the scene for a good day. And both horses
back up this weekend, I think.

S1 (00:37):
Yeah, into group 1's. Big step up for both horses.

S2 (00:40):
Sure is a step.

S1 (00:42):
Back in distance though for Firestorm.

S2 (00:44):
Back to the mile. Mhm. Yeah but she's doing a
good job. She is lightweight in the uh Epsom. Yeah.

S1 (00:52):
Sticky draw. But anyway we've also had a couple of.
You're at Werribee.

S2 (00:58):
Yes, we had a couple.

S1 (01:00):
Of fast ones. We? Yep. The mighty Birdman and the.

S2 (01:04):
The bird. I'm calling him the bird. Birdman settled in
very well. Um, a gentleman he is. And yeah, his
work was. Well, he's just been doing light work. Yeah.
Eating everything. And obviously got off the plane in good
shape from Jessica Harrington and, um. Yeah.

S1 (01:25):
What was the other Wootton Vernie?

S2 (01:27):
I'm calling him Vernie. Vernie?

S1 (01:28):
Yeah. Yeah. Right.

S2 (01:30):
Um, he looks like the.

S1 (01:31):
Wootton Bassett, so don't we? We do.

S2 (01:32):
We do good horses. They're doing a good job now. He's.
He's a horse from France. Yeah. And, um. Miler. Mile two.

S1 (01:41):
Mile 2000. Yeah, he'll be right there. So first up,
Crystal mile. Here we go.

S2 (01:46):
And, um, Birdman, the bird will probably go to the
Geelong Cup. Good. That couldn't be a.

S1 (01:54):
Sneaky way into the Melbourne Cup, though.

S2 (01:55):
Yeah.

S1 (01:56):
Okay. Okay.

S2 (01:58):
On the way to wherever we went to the Gold Coast.

S1 (02:01):
Yeah. You did, didn't you? Yeah. Not many. Not many
people do that as a direct route, isn't it? No. No. No. Sydney,
to the Gold Coast to get to Werribee. Yeah. But anyway.

S2 (02:09):
But, um.

S1 (02:10):
When you got the run. An empire.

S2 (02:12):
Yeah. Lofty's got the team running like a well-oiled machine. Good, good. And, um.

S1 (02:19):
And you've got an Everest runner released this week.

S2 (02:22):
We have? Yeah. Jolly old star.

S1 (02:25):
Everest runner or Everest winner? Well, it's a live shot,
isn't she? A live shot? Yeah.

S2 (02:32):
So, um.

S1 (02:34):
We'll learn a bit more this weekend, I suppose, won't we?
We'll learn in the premiere. Yes. Mm. Anyway, I think
she's a. She'll bounce. Well, there's.

S2 (02:41):
A few people. A few people think that she's the
right horse.

S1 (02:45):
Mm. I'll tell you what. It's going to be exciting
watching her trial, won't it? She trialing? Yeah.

S2 (02:49):
Eighth. Yeah. Fangirl trialing as well. And he'll be in.

S1 (02:53):
Sunshine and Paris for From Annabel's also going straight to
the Everest. It's going to be a, I.

S2 (02:58):
Think, zoo gotcha as well.

S1 (03:00):
Gee whiz. Get to the trials, boys and girls. Any gender. Actually,
you can all come. Anyway, we'll rip into Rosehill. Well, no,
it won't because it's not at Rosehill. It's at Randwick. Yeah.

S2 (03:14):
And first light backing up with the Metrop.

S1 (03:17):
Well you can't see. We've already said first light. Yeah
I know, but.

S2 (03:20):
We didn't really go into how. Yeah.

S1 (03:21):
We're going to go. We're good. We'll get there because
he's backing up.

S2 (03:24):
For the ruperts. What an honour.

S1 (03:27):
What an honour. So you want to do the Metrop
first and you can do first light then. Come on.
Well done.

S2 (03:32):
First light.

S1 (03:33):
Oh, you've done first light. Okay, so now can we
go back to the Epsom? Yep. Okay. Democracy manifest arguably
should have won last start last year. Rather.

S2 (03:42):
Yes, yes. Uh. He's drawn. Okay. And Kira McEvoy rides his, um.
His first run was brilliant. Second up run was good.
They just sprinted home. Yeah, he's ready to peak.

S1 (03:57):
Kovalivka barrier one. How close? Makes it a bit tricky.
Does it? He did? Yeah.

S2 (04:04):
I'd rather bury one than. I think he drew wide
last year. Yeah. Yeah.

S1 (04:08):
Like 20 or something.

S2 (04:10):
Yeah. Should have won shouldn't he.

S1 (04:11):
Yeah. But he didn't did he. Rodina did. Yeah. Yeah.

S2 (04:15):
So he gets his chance again. James McDonald. Ronald.

S1 (04:20):
Yeah, yeah. He's riding in Sydney, which is good. Uh, Mikhail.

S2 (04:25):
Well, he won the bill. Richie. It's always been a
good lead up race for the for the Epsom. It's
been a good year. We've had some good success in
winning both. Mikhail's got a sticky draw. It's that type
of horse. So he can come back and just sort of. Yeah.
That's it. Molly.

S1 (04:43):
Molly Bloom.

S2 (04:44):
She's ready.

S1 (04:44):
To go. Second up, group one.

S2 (04:46):
Winner.

S1 (04:46):
Fit enough.

S2 (04:47):
Oh, please.

S1 (04:48):
Okay, good.

S2 (04:50):
Um. She sickened up 50.5 kilos or thereabouts.

S1 (04:57):
Zac Lloyd.

S2 (04:58):
Good draw. She's won a Group one race in New Zealand.
She's thrown in the weights.

S1 (05:02):
Yeah. She is.

S2 (05:03):
So if we can get her back to her best form,
she'll be hard. She'll run well.

S1 (05:09):
Last year's winner in Rediener. Mhm.

S2 (05:13):
Well, he hasn't got the same draws last year. No.
Or the same jockey.

S1 (05:18):
All the same weight.

S2 (05:19):
Joshua Parr takes over from Kathleen O'Hara or Kathleen Duckworth. Mm. So, um, he's. Well,
his first run was a ripper.

S1 (05:31):
It was. Considering he was caught wide, he did it
tough and still no harm. Those three weeks between runs.

S2 (05:37):
It blew the cobwebs out. So he's just an unassuming
horse and he knows when to get the job done.

S1 (05:45):
No, he's a legend. Creigiau comes up. He does a
good job with scratched last week. It was a nice
soft draw this week.

S2 (05:52):
Good draw. He likes Randwick. He's in winning form and
he's a genuine lightweight chance. So I guess that's a
this year is a it's a it's a typical Epsom.
Lots of chances and we've got a few of them.

S1 (06:05):
And firestorm obviously who we've already touched on. So the
ripping into the Metropolitan you've got El Bodegon drawn wide
up here. Drawn better in Melbourne. Probably got Melbourne.

S2 (06:15):
Probably go Melbourne.

S1 (06:16):
Yeah. Etna Rosso Newcastle Cup winner. Last start.

S2 (06:21):
Yes he was uh he's well he's come through that run.
Well he's a good tough win. Uh he'll be strong
at the end of 2400.

S1 (06:29):
Land legend the current favourite.

S2 (06:31):
Mm. Third up. Um just gradually peaking and.

S1 (06:37):
Certainly will suit.

S2 (06:38):
Well. Won the Saint Leger this time last year and um. Yeah.
He's a good tough horse.

S1 (06:45):
Man's voice also dual accepted.

S2 (06:47):
Probably head to Melbourne.

S1 (06:49):
Drawn a bit better down there, isn't he?

S2 (06:51):
Ten ish. Uh, he's won a derby in Melbourne.

S1 (06:55):
Over what.

S2 (06:56):
Distance? 2500.

S1 (06:57):
What distance is he in Melbourne?

S2 (06:58):
Exactly the same.

S1 (07:00):
It's 25 and 20, actually. Right. Do you reckon he'll
stay the extra 20?

S2 (07:04):
Yes.

S1 (07:05):
Good.

S2 (07:05):
And what was the Derby run on? What kind of track?

S1 (07:09):
Rain affected.

S2 (07:10):
No.

S1 (07:12):
Rain affected. Yeah.

S2 (07:13):
Correct. So we need a soft seven track. Same track,
same distance and same result. Okay. Different jockey. Yeah.

S1 (07:19):
Joao Moreira.

S2 (07:20):
Ah, okay. Takes over from Mickey D. Yep. Um, yeah.
He's going well.

S1 (07:26):
Matusalem. Dual accepted emergencies in both places. Needs a bit
of luck to gain a start.

S2 (07:32):
Hardly going to send him to Melbourne if he hasn't
got a start. So we'll have to stay in Sydney.
Hope he gets a run. Hope the track stays dry. Uh,
better the track, the better he'll go.

S1 (07:43):
Okay. Straight on the back up. A little.

S2 (07:46):
Bit. disappointing. Last week.

S1 (07:48):
Ninth up for the campaign.

S2 (07:50):
Should be ready to peak.

S1 (07:52):
You reckon?

S2 (07:52):
Tents up? Does he fit tents up?

S1 (07:55):
Here we go.

S2 (07:57):
He's, um. He's been a good horse to prep.

S1 (07:59):
He might. He might get that trophy. The ATC do
for most amount of starts in the ATC tracks during
the calendar year. Montauk. Got it, didn't he? Mighty Montauk
for Max and Neil. That's right. Yeah.

S2 (08:12):
Anyway, we'll have to call on CharlieTalk half brother to Montauk.

S1 (08:20):
An Unusual Legacy also needs to gain a start.

S2 (08:24):
It was terrific last start. He obviously just missed. Um,
but I love the way he finished off the last
200 was the strongest of the race. It's a big
staying type. Big, rangy, horse drawn. Well, ready to go.
We're we're a pen. We're a.

S1 (08:42):
Pen. Got heard at the trials. He soon bounce soon
didn't feel the pain anymore, did he, when he realized
he was going. We got 5.

S2 (08:48):
Or 6 messages from New Zealand. One that he was right.
Like just about on life support. Yeah. Two that he'd
broken all his bones. Three. Some.

S1 (08:58):
Four he was fine and was just going to walk
straight and get that one.

S2 (09:03):
I can't get that one. It didn't look good. So
it just shows you what jockeys go through. The poor
buggers and they bounce back. And he's riding in a
group one in Australia.

S1 (09:11):
Yeah. Good on him, good on him. Uh, into the
Flight Stakes. Third group one of the day for us.
Autumn Glow.

S2 (09:20):
She's a very good horse. Charlie and James McDonald rode
her on Tuesday. Monday morning. Monday morning. And he said
she's something special. So if you didn't know that already,
she'll be hard to beat on Saturday. And.

S1 (09:35):
And after all, he is the jockey who nearly gave
up on Winx in a race, so he should know
what something special is.

S2 (09:42):
He does. He's a good.

S3 (09:43):
Boy.

S2 (09:44):
Good boy. He's right in Sydney.

S1 (09:45):
He's on 99, isn't he? 99. Good ones. Is he.

S2 (09:48):
Already?

S1 (09:49):
Yeah, I think he is. I think that'd be the.
That'll be $1.80 going for your hundredth.

S2 (09:57):
I don't think like that, Charlie.

S1 (09:59):
Will he raise the bat with his whip? Do you
think he's some sort of. Come on. Anyway, you've also
got de Clichy Boulevard. Yes. Currently down in Melbourne. Drawn
fou r in both locations. Yes.

S2 (10:10):
It's likely she'll stay in Melbourne. Joao Moreira is riding
her down there. Um, no disrespect to who's riding up here.
Who was riding here? Oh, well, it's Nash. Better than
Joe or equal.

S1 (10:24):
Well, Joao will be better at Flemington on Saturday than
Nash will be.

S2 (10:27):
I think Nash will ride more winners than Joe this
weekend in Sydney. Yeah, so I agree. Um. He is.
She's well. But travelling horses isn't as easy as it
as you might. Or, you know, as some people might think.
so based on that Group two race down there, which
I think she's got a good chance of winning. I'm
happy to keep her in Melbourne.

S1 (10:49):
She would have won last night if it was Flemington anyway. Yeah, big.
Long straight. She'll be eating it up. Uh, we've also
got Lady Shenandoah originally. Not. Not the plan to go here.

S2 (11:01):
No, it wasn't like same ownership group. Mainly. Is, uh,
or Hermitage, uh, in her. And just wonder if she's
quite seasoned for Group one racing yet. The season.

S1 (11:16):
Tough ask.

S2 (11:17):
It's a long season, and she will be ready for
one in the 1000 Guineas. So just in two minds
whether she needs to run. Really? Okay. And that's always been.
That's always been our plan. We're not hell bent on
running in the fight, but, uh, we'll make that decision
later in the week.

S1 (11:33):
And Lazzura.

S2 (11:36):
Um, she's done nothing wrong. No. First up, group three.
Group two placed second up fourth in a group two,
beaten probably a length by or might be a bit
more by Autumn glow. But she was in behind. Didn't really.
Didn't really get a chance to get out. She can improve.
She's going good, Malatesta. But she's fit.

S3 (11:57):
Good, good.

S1 (11:59):
Well, we've pretty much covered everything other than the Turnbull and.

S2 (12:03):
The rugby league.

S1 (12:05):
What about the rugby league?

S2 (12:06):
Who are you tipping?

S1 (12:08):
Well, I'm going to Melbourne on Saturday night. Yeah? So
who do you think I'm going for? I'll pay. I'll
pay council rates to Penrith and I'm going. And you
send me to Melbourne. So I'm pretty torn.

S2 (12:20):
You're not coming home.

S1 (12:22):
Not if we win at Turnbull. Oh no, not if
El Bodegon lobs in the Bart Cummings. Then I won't
be seen for months. You'll be coming out. Uh a tissue.
Your favourite horse.

S2 (12:34):
Um she's. Well she's ready to peak third up And
she loves Flemington. A little bit plain last start, but
she'll love 2000m mark. Sara rides. Good draw. She's ready
to go.

S1 (12:49):
Buck. Buck, Buckaroo.

S2 (12:50):
Brilliant. Last start. Group one winner. Um.

S1 (12:54):
Joao retains the ride.

S2 (12:56):
Yes, it's an import off the back of Japan.

S1 (12:59):
Yeah. It's about.

S2 (13:01):
Um. He's well, very well. And couldn't fault his work
on Tuesday morning at Flemington. Saturday will tell us whether
he's a Cox Plate horse.

S1 (13:13):
Or a Caulfield Cup.

S2 (13:14):
Horse, or a Caulfield Cup horse.

S1 (13:16):
Simple as that, isn't it? Yeah. Okay, then we'll just
cover off Francesco and Valiant King because both similar profiles.

S2 (13:24):
Yes. Well, Francesco is slowly finding his form and I
think he'll run a cheeky race midfield finish Saturday.

S1 (13:33):
He was good last.

S2 (13:33):
Start and I think Valiant King will be right behind him,
ready to launch into the spring once he gets up
over a bit further.

S1 (13:41):
Okay then. Via Sistina.

S2 (13:44):
She's well. She's pulled up well after her defeat. Last start.

S1 (13:49):
Work was good. Tuesday.

S2 (13:50):
Very good. Stephen Arnold was happy and a great judge.
Great judge. He's pretty happy, he said. Capable of.

S1 (13:58):
Bouncing back.

S2 (13:59):
Happy? Yeah. That happy? Yeah. Happy. Good. Yeah. Uh, drawn
a little bit sticky. Um, but another good jockey in
Damian Lane rides. So we've got some good jockeys aboard
the fortunate.

S1 (14:13):
Well.

S2 (14:14):
Who books the jockeys?

S1 (14:16):
You?

S2 (14:16):
Yeah. You do?

S1 (14:17):
You do? Oh, you do it all.

S2 (14:20):
I don't. Yes. You ring the jockeys. You got the jockeys.
I suggest the jockeys. You get the jockeys. He gets
the jockeys.

S1 (14:30):
Yeah, well, there you go.

S2 (14:31):
Through Charlie's eyeballs.

S1 (14:34):
Uh, we're going to go for a horse that we
haven't spoken about because it was just in a benchmark race. Konasana.

S2 (14:44):
Oh, okay. Konasana Konasana didn't run this weekend, and she
ran next Saturday in the nivison over 1200 metres. I
think she had a good chance at that. So if
she didn't run this weekend, what would you bet on?

S1 (15:04):
Unusual legacy. Oh.

S2 (15:08):
I hope you're right. I hope anything wins on Saturday.
That's a big day of racing.

S1 (15:12):
Yeah, I don't really care what wins as long as
one of them wins. Yeah.

S2 (15:16):
Or 2.

S1 (15:16):
Or 3? Yeah. Do you want me to get my haircut? Yeah.

S2 (15:21):
Uh, that's about it.

S1 (15:24):
Well, they have a ripping afternoon. Weekend morning. Good night.
Whatever you're up to. And have fun.
