S1 (00:06):
Hello and welcome back. Uh, we've had a little bit
of a winter. Freshen up or summer freshen up if
you went to the northern hemisphere. Um, and we're back
ready to rip into some fantastic racing. We've got some
racing this weekend. Obviously, the first Group one of the season,
but we'll touch on that a little bit later. Um,
how are you feeling leading into it?

S2 (00:27):
Good, Charlie. Very good. Had a good break. Had a
week in England, Royal Ascot. All five days of the meeting. Yeah.
Came home.

S1 (00:38):
Good meeting. Not carnival. Meeting?

S2 (00:40):
Carnival meeting. And I had a quick trip home, then
grabbed the kids and Steph. And we went to America week.
Week in New York. Week at LA Trump Tower. Yeah.
Didn't get.

S1 (00:51):
Assassinated?

S2 (00:52):
Nope. That's good. And, um. Yeah. Had a good look around.
Had a good freshen up. It's the best I've felt.
And you guys did an amazing job back here. Thank you. And, uh,
ready to go? We've hit the ground running. What about you?
You had a bit of a break? Yeah, had.

S1 (01:09):
A bit of a break. Had the annual ski trip,
which went down incredibly well and had a little baby.
Did all sorts of things.

S2 (01:18):
So the nominations in for the father of the year?

S1 (01:21):
Uh, no, but I did get an email yesterday about
Father's Day coming up, which I forwarded to Cathy just
to remind her that Father's Day is approaching. And I expect.

S2 (01:32):
Being told you're going to do a very good job.

S1 (01:35):
I don't really do much. Cathy's done a good job anyway.

S2 (01:40):
Good. Leading from the show. Fresh. We're ready to go.
Got some new ideas coming up.

S1 (01:45):
Yeah. My word. The next.

S2 (01:46):
Few episodes. Yeah.

S1 (01:48):
You just watch and learn through.

S2 (01:50):
Charlie's eyes is back.

S1 (01:51):
Mulcaster Miller's back to it. Yeah. My word. My word.
12 years is leading. Leading Group one, winning stable.

S2 (02:01):
Well, that's pretty good. Well done. How many times.

S1 (02:04):
Has the stable been in champion trainer?

S2 (02:06):
Um. Not sure. A few more? Couple more? Yeah. No.
We're going. Great, isn't it? Great team. We had a little,
little get together last Saturday night and stuff. And Sydney
were up and about and around the other stables. I
think they've done something as well. And, yeah, we've got
a good team around.

S1 (02:25):
What was the group one that stuck out for you,
if any. Oh if any.

S2 (02:29):
Gee, it's hard to, um, dissect the importance of group
ones because they're all very big. Um. I'd say reef rockets,
Australian derby. Um, first derby in Sydney, believe it or not.

(02:50):
Believe it. And it took a while to win, but
we won it. And yeah, it was a pretty good win.
What about you?

S1 (02:56):
Uh. Rodina.

S2 (02:58):
Obviously. Who wrote.

S1 (02:59):
That? Kathleen.

S2 (03:01):
Ah, yeah. Kathleen. Duckworth. Yeah.

S1 (03:03):
In foal. In foal. Huh? Mares do improve when they're.
When they're in fault. So there you go. Good effort. Right.

S2 (03:14):
Solid effort and nature strip. I see Cathy was riding
nature strip last weekend. Yeah.

S1 (03:18):
In the Aqua qualifier 1200 to the second place.

S2 (03:22):
Nature strips prize money to, uh, 20 something. Yeah.

S1 (03:26):
Yeah. Almost, almost making it to 21. If we.

S2 (03:30):
Actually. If we got to the Olympics. Cathy. Cathy. Ryan.

S1 (03:34):
Yeah. Of course. Are you going to have James?

S2 (03:37):
Oh, yeah. James.

S1 (03:38):
You do like James? Yeah. James. Hasn't he hit the
ground running? Yes. He's about three times second at the moment,
isn't he? Rocket like a rocket. And then we had
a bit of a sad week as a as an industry.

S2 (03:51):
Sure did. Black Caviar's passing was incredibly sad for. Well,
you can imagine the team involved. Um, we had a
glimpse of it with our own great horse, but, um,
what Black Caviar did undefeated. Never got beaten. Mm. Um,
Peter Moody, the strappers, the track riders, the you name it,

(04:13):
and and.

S1 (04:14):
Going to Ascot and doing it. It's it makes it
a owners.

S2 (04:17):
They just handled it so well and yeah we feel
for them and feel for black caviar. Mm. Um, but wow.
What a super horse. Mm. So does said.

S1 (04:31):
Last weekend, four four winners at Rosehill nearly ended up
with five. Yeah. Concorde just got his little beak down
in time.

S2 (04:39):
Well, track was racing fair. The tracks in Sydney are
great thanks to some good weather of late and hopefully
Randwick races similarly on Saturday. Gives every horse a chance.

S1 (04:49):
A couple of impressive three year olds in Autumn Glow
and Gatsby.

S2 (04:52):
There's a few talking about the three year olds in
the stable at the moment, aren't they? Yeah. Autumn glow.
She's a autumn sun.

S3 (04:58):
Dawn service at the 200 is being tackled the outside
by Autumn glow and Autumn glow race past dawn service.

S2 (05:06):
And Gatsby's a promising horse that, um. It's by Snitzel.
We think we've got some nice horses there and a
few more to follow up in the next few weeks.

S1 (05:17):
Absolutely. Etna Rosso for one.

S2 (05:19):
Wow. Might be a little metropolitan number. Mm mm. Cazoo. Wow.
Didn't she didn't.

S1 (05:27):
Know what happened there. She missed.

S2 (05:28):
The start.

S1 (05:29):
What price would you have got in running for a
front runner sitting last.

S4 (05:33):
Um.

S2 (05:35):
Lots. I would have.

S1 (05:35):
Given you about 100 to 1. Anyway.

S3 (05:37):
It's Kabbah and Bubba's bay. Terramar to the inside. Uh,
flushing home. Cazoo. Oh, this has been a win. Cazoo
from last got up to knock. Got up to knock
off Terra Armada.

S2 (05:48):
But it just shows you she's a pretty anxious type
of horse. Wants to get out there and run and
we just say, go out there and run and catch
me if you can, but oxygen and petrol only lasts
so long, doesn't it? So yeah, she came back. James
didn't panic. Did the like the All Blacks on Saturday night.

(06:11):
They bounced back to after a defeat the week before
and they were doing.

S1 (06:14):
About 40 up at half time weren't.

S2 (06:16):
You. Yeah. Well we were down the week before. Cut
them in half. James did just like the All Blacks. Yeah.

S1 (06:22):
And one to follow.

S2 (06:23):
Are one.

S1 (06:24):
To follow. Yeah.

S2 (06:25):
One to follow for me. Oh. Ah.

S1 (06:27):
Something you don't like talking about? No. What?

S2 (06:33):
Oh, yeah. One to follow, horse to follow. Uh, private
life is one to follow.

S1 (06:40):
Yeah. Here's your one.

S2 (06:40):
Is he? He is? Yeah. He's going good. He's won
a race, but I think he's up there with the.
The good cops. With the real good cops. Good cops.
Good shots to follow.

S1 (06:51):
You got one, Emmert?

S2 (06:52):
Oh, yeah. Okay. They could be racing against each other. Yeah.

S1 (06:55):
Good. We'll have a little wager. Mm. Interesting. rocking into
this weekend. Yes. Group one Winx Stakes. Obviously an important
race for you.

S2 (07:05):
Yeah.

S1 (07:06):
You like winning this one, don't you? Yeah.

S2 (07:07):
So we used to be called the Warwick Stakes. Warwick Farm.

S1 (07:11):
Who was the first to win it.

S2 (07:12):
Of ours? Yeah. No idea.

S1 (07:14):
No. The Winx.

S2 (07:16):
The Winx that Winx winks. Winks. One of our own race. Yeah.
She did. Yeah. And before they get.

S1 (07:20):
To do that. No, no, it shows the longevity, doesn't it?

S2 (07:24):
It does. And before that, for a few years it
was called the Bob Ingham Stakes. So Winx took Mr.
Ingham's name anyhow. And, um, hopefully it stays the Winx
for a long time and hopefully we can win it
a few more times. Might be called.

S1 (07:38):
The Walla Wink Stakes.

S2 (07:39):
No, Charlie.

S1 (07:40):
No, Charlie. With the. With the dominance in this this
year's market. We've got a tissue kicking off proceedings, Tyler Schiller. How?

S2 (07:47):
She's come back. Well, I'd expect it to need the run. She,
of the 5 or 6 we've got in, it is
probably the biggest of them. Like in condition. Yep. So
not saying she can't win, but I'd say she's going
to have a good prep, but it might be after
the Saturday Buckaroo. He's come back. Well, he's come back
really well. He's getting and he's moving well. I doubt

(08:10):
he could win Saturday, but bit short. He'll be winning
those good group two races. Worth a lot of money
in New South Wales. Mid spring.

S1 (08:18):
A lot of money in New South Wales. Do you
know how many individual individual million dollar earners you had
last year? No, 11 of them.

S2 (08:25):
Shoes.

S1 (08:27):
11 individual. Group one. Not group $1 million.

S2 (08:31):
Well, no. We are blessed. Blessed. And we might come
to race in New South Wales next week. Yeah, because
we haven't got enough.

S1 (08:37):
So you'll have to tune in then.

S2 (08:39):
I think a few people have forgotten how good we've
got it in New South Wales.

S1 (08:44):
Yeah, yeah. Don't, don't ruin next week. Okay, I was fangirl.

S2 (08:49):
She's going great. What a remarkable turnaround it's been with her.
I thought she might struggle to live when she had
her injury. Um, but stable staff, the veterinarians. The follow
up support has been amazing. Not only did she make
it out of it, she has come back really well

(09:12):
and she's ready to go.

S1 (09:15):
Riff.

S2 (09:16):
Rocket the rocket! Now the rockets are two time Derby
winner Charly.

S1 (09:21):
Racing 1000m short.

S2 (09:23):
Yes, that. Yes, he.

S1 (09:26):
Can still be competitive.

S2 (09:27):
Oh, I don't know. But, um he's I reckon he's won.
Well he won. He was the favourite for the Guineas
in the autumn because he won very impressively. 1400 metres.
First up very impressively. Um, I reckon he won another
1400 metre race like prep for two. So he's got
an extra Wheeler on.

S1 (09:48):
So you're giving him half a snake?

S2 (09:49):
How, how can he win that? And the Caulfield Cup
won't be easy, will it? No it won't. But if
he could win one of.

S1 (09:56):
The very elegant one of Melbourne Cup.

S2 (09:57):
Well, that's where that sort of leading to a little
bit of that. She won the Winx Stakes, I think
she did. Yeah. And she won a Melbourne Cup and
Caulfield Cup.

S1 (10:08):
And a few others along the way.

S2 (10:10):
It's pretty exciting to have a horse like rocket in
the stable.

S1 (10:14):
Via Sistina.

S2 (10:17):
She's a very good horse, Charlie. You know it. All
we get is good feedback, isn't it? Yeah.

S1 (10:22):
Even Gerald Ryan was commenting how good she looks this morning.
Did he? Yeah. So she looks much stronger than she
did in the autumn. Mm.

S2 (10:30):
Interesting. She has come back. Well then she's come back.
Well and she's in for a great preparation. So I
hope we win the Winx Stakes. I'm not sure who
of ours is our best chance, but whatever one wins,
I'll be happy with. And hopefully they come home well.
But they'll be on to bigger and better things each

(10:50):
and every one of them.

S1 (10:51):
Geez, don't jump the gun. What about Paul?

S2 (10:53):
Zu zu. Gotcha Yeah, She won three out of three
in the autumn.

S1 (11:00):
Including two group.

S2 (11:01):
Ones. Yes. Yes. And, um.

S1 (11:06):
Look like three in a row. She did well in
the Princess series, too.

S2 (11:09):
I think it'll come down to a bit of tempo.
If Zogok is well, she'll be there in the first few,
depending on what's in the race, what the speed of
the race is. But she's going to be there. Fangirl,
depending on where she draws, will be where she's comfortable there.
Festina via Festina be similar. The rocket will just be
smoking his pipe somewhere. The tissue will be where she

(11:30):
needs to be, and Bucky probably misses the start and
half a length and grabs a spot where he can. Uh.
So getting back to zu. Gotcha. Wow. Howdy. Yeah, she's
a three time Group one winner. Uh, and probably the
underdog in terms of 1400 meters.

S1 (11:50):
Fresh democracy manifest in the show.

S2 (11:53):
County had a great prep last time in, um, arguably
should have won the Epsom. Um, he is due a
big one, so it's a good starting point for him.
I'd be looking for more over a mile, but you
never know.

S1 (12:09):
Fresh, uh, jolly star. Duly accepted. Yes.

S2 (12:14):
Uh, leaning towards the show county, aren't we? But she's
come back. Well, you could make a point for her
being one of the best horses in the stable. Um,
had a light autumn. One race won the arrowfield impressively
hosed up. Yeah. So she's come back. Well, we're just
finding our way with her. 1200m or 1100 metres fresh

(12:34):
will give us a good gauge as to where we're
heading with the Everest horse. Um, it depends how good
these Colts are. Um, yeah, I think it's just a
matter of finding a batting order if you play cricket. Um,
it is. It is indeed. Um. Yeah. We've got a
good team.

S1 (12:54):
Okay. Into the Premier's Cup. Just the two Canberra legend
and political debate. Who's also in the Rowley Mile tomorrow?

S2 (13:00):
Political debate needs to find some form. We'll be a
bit more prominent when we ride him next. Best races
are on speed and Canberra legend. He's in for a
good prep. Uh. First up. Went back. Nothing really ran on.
He'll appreciate an extra. Extra few hundred metres.

S1 (13:18):
Okay, then. You've got four in the mile. You've got
last start. Winner. Majutsu.

S2 (13:23):
Um, he was impressive. First up. Yeah. Uh, he'll get
out to 2000m. Third up. I'm just hoping we've got
enough speed in him. But it'll come down to draw
and luck and running. But he's come back really well.

S1 (13:34):
Step aside. He's also accepted down in Melbourne.

S2 (13:36):
Yeah. We'll just weigh up both draws wherever he heads.
He'll be one of the favourites.

S1 (13:41):
So like he skipped around the valley on Tuesday morning
didn't he.

S2 (13:45):
Did Charlie. He did it. Um, that'll be our preference
to keep him in Melbourne if he draws well down there.

S1 (13:51):
Unlimited still racing over a mile.

S2 (13:53):
He'll get there. He was a better run. I think
he ran third last start. Jimmy Clark.

S5 (13:57):
Yeah.

S2 (13:58):
Um, finding his way and. Yeah, it's he's not far
away from having his foot in the till.

S1 (14:05):
Okay. And the usual legacy over a mile.

S2 (14:09):
Resuming. I think he's our, um, one of our metropolitan horses. Mhm.
So that's what we think of him. He's had a limited.
We've had limited exposure here in Australia. But I think
a couple of wins in a second or a couple
of seconds. And um he's in for a good prep.

S1 (14:28):
Okay. Into the 2400 metre race you've got the three
regulars who do battle most weekends, which is Kapa, Kiri,
Kuruda and straight.

S2 (14:36):
It comes down to luck and running barrier draws. I
think Kapa Kuri won two starts ago. Kuruda ran second
last start and straight won the start before that. Yeah,
so it's Kurita's turn to win if it worked like that. Um,
and then we've got Tejanas coming up from Melbourne.

S1 (14:53):
Also and accepted down there, but looks like it's going
to get.

S2 (14:56):
2400 this trip. Okay, 2400 is this trip? It'll come
down to where they are in the run. And Strathspey
doesn't have to give away that big start. Or they
have a slight leaning to him.

S1 (15:07):
Yeah, he needs a soft draw, doesn't he? Finally. Yeah.
And last but not least, from Randwick we have Invader
Zim in the 78,200. Yeah.

S2 (15:16):
Model of consistency. This horse I'm just questioning whether 1200
metres is a bit short a bit short. But we'll
he'll be there late on the scene.

S1 (15:24):
And just a quick whip around the country. We've only
got a couple of other runners that we haven't touched
on in Melbourne, which is Mistress of Illusion and Quantum Cat.

S2 (15:31):
Yeah. Mistress of illusion is getting up to a more
suitable distance.

S1 (15:35):
Probably pass mark.

S2 (15:36):
First up, it was in my eyes. Probably. Probably needs
a bit further than 2000. And quantum Cat fresh up Saturday.
I think he'll run really well.

S1 (15:45):
Yeah he's progressive I think.

S2 (15:46):
Yeah he has. What about Brisbane?

S1 (15:47):
We've got just a handful up there. Um, you've got
built his last start winner but dry track. He needs
it dry. I'm convinced of that. But probably the best
I think it's Tannenberg. Oh, Tannenberg. Yeah, he's.

S2 (16:01):
Vive Maryland and all the team. Yeah!

S1 (16:03):
Yeah. My word.

S2 (16:04):
Good crew of owners there.

S1 (16:06):
And then just a little bit of mulcaster male. He's.
He's thrown in. Gotcha.

S6 (16:12):
Oh, gee. Should be worth some money now, wouldn't you? Mhm.

S1 (16:16):
I think she's you know, you could say 14 is
just about her optimum trip. She's won over shorter longer
whereas a couple of the others you could say oh
it's a bit short and sharp so. And what about.

S2 (16:32):
Through Charlie's eyes.

S1 (16:34):
Jolly start. No matter what race, what barrier, what weight?
She just absolutely whacks them.

S2 (16:41):
She's looking pretty good through your eyes. Mhm.

S1 (16:43):
There you go. She's absolutely flying.

S2 (16:45):
Keep that under the hat.

S1 (16:48):
Send in your invoice. If she gets beat down.
