sixteenth birthday to you. Dal dil Uh three one seven

zero thirteen ten on our show today. She is back.
Miss Cordelia Lewis Burks joins us shortly, going to weigh
in and talk about what she knows best politics voting,
I know a whole lot more. Miss Cordelio will be

(01:06):
here at the bottom of the hour around one thirty
or so. Right now, the phone lines are open three
one seven four eight zero thirteen ten. That is the number,
and Cameron doing I'm doing well. I hope you are
as well. It's Friday, it is. It don't feel like Friday,
but it's Friday.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
I know.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
I don't know what a Friday is supposed to feel like,
but today doesn't. It does not, it does not. I don't.
I can't quite wrap my head around that vibe just shit,
but I guess I will eventually. But it excuse me,
it is a Friday. We are in the dog days
of summer. I guess you can say. I mean, the
temperature's binges. The last thing on our minds probably should

(01:46):
be potholes. Okay, oh boy, yeah, yeah, I know, I
know the last thing on our mind should be potholes.
But here here's what I want to share. Last night, well, actually,
for the last few days, I've been getting a tire
since you know, the tire sign has been what is

(02:06):
it the tire logo or whatever it has been coming
up on since on my dashboard. And so the first
time it happened, I immediately went to the service station,
checked all the pressure, all the tires, everything was good.
So the sensor kept coming on, you know, it would
blink for a little while and then come on, and

(02:28):
I said, my tires are fine. I wonder if I've
got a faulty sensor, which I have had before. I've
had a faulty sensor before. Yeah, it happens. So I
just happened.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
I was.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
I pulled into my garage and I just happened to
see what looked like, I don't know, some kind of
a steak or a I don't even know what it was,
but it was circular silver and had a long, you know,
a long ending to it, you know, and that had
lodged in my tire. And so I looked at I said,

(02:58):
how in the world could something like that? I mean,
this stuff isn't well. And so the guy from Triple
A who called I called Triple A is the guy
from Triple A, and he said that a lot of
pieces like this are found in potholes.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
My mom had one recently about a month ago. Didn't
get the tire replaced because she thought she could get
it plugged. And it was super long. Basically the way
you just explained it. I think it's like the exact
same type of boat that my mom had.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
Her tires huge, just huge and I couldn't believe how
so what did she do?

Speaker 5 (03:30):
She had replaced the whole.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
She'd get him tied.

Speaker 5 (03:33):
Unfortunately, because because the like you said, the length of
it and the thing that amazes me, and I think
it shot you as well. It didn't pop the tire, uh,
you know, as long as it was you would think.
But it didn't pop the tire. But you couldn't plug
it once you pull it out. It's too long for
the plug to be able to keep the whole field.
So she had to replace a tire and get a
whole brain to tire.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Yeah, it looked like a steak, you know, like you're
driving a steak into something and my tire. Nothing happened.
I didn't get a flat tire. Although the press sure
was starting to go down. Uh it's very slowly, probably
after about a week that the pressure started to go down.
And I looked at him and I said, are you
kidding me? And he said no. Those holes are full
of everything, you know, full of all kinds of things.

(04:12):
Because I used to think just hitting the hole is
tearing up your tire, which I've had that do too.
But he says, even if you try to go around
it or if you go down one slowly or what
have you, your tire can pick that up too, because
these potholes are full of junk. And I'm like, the
pothole got me again in the middle of summer because

(04:33):
I haven't hit any really hard to tear up my tire.
So this will be the fourth tire now. Now, the
one thing he did say was that this tire could
probably be fixed because it was kind of like in
the center, and he said, they can just do whatever
they do, and yeah, so it can probably be fixed.

(04:55):
But the potholes still again, and all this blitz that
we heard about that was going on a couple of
times during the winter months, they're right back the way.
They were empty and full of gravel and junk. In fact,
he gave me he showed me another piece that had

(05:18):
come out of a pothole that he saved to show
people that these are the kinds of things that are
there in the potholes. So I'm like, oh, my goodness,
you cannot win for losing with these potholes. I don't know.
I don't know, but they I must be on the
pothole tour because they keep getting me. And thankfully, did

(05:42):
your mother was your mother's tire under warranty?

Speaker 5 (05:46):
I want to say yes, because I don't think she
had to pay too much for it, but it's just
the fact that she had it was a fairly new
one that was probably the most frustrating part of it.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Yeah, I you know, I put them all under warranty.
You know it's ten dollars extra, but you know, okay,
ten dollars. But and I've had to use just about
every one of them, except I've used three out of
the four.

Speaker 6 (06:09):
Uh, So.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
I guess what I'm gonna have to do. Although I
don't remember, I remember driving, I'm trying to remember what
pothole it could have been, because I do remember going
very slowly because I was blocked by traffic on both
sides squad so I couldn't swerve to avoid it. Does
that make sense. I couldn't go either way, so I
had to go into it very slowly, and I thought, okay,
I navigated it, and darn if it didn't get me

(06:33):
that way. So, uh, you can still this is what
I'm gonna have to do as soon as I figure
out where it was. I'm trying to remember, but anybody
can still report a pothole through the Mayor's Action Center. Online.
You can do it online through request dot NDI dot
gov or by calling three one seven three two seven

(06:54):
four six two two three one seven three two seven
four six to to or request dot nd dot gov.
That is what you do for potholes. They get you.
You know what there there are there. There's a pothole
for all seasons. You know in Indianapolis, there is a

(07:15):
pothole for all seasons. That's all I can say. Pothole, pothole, pothole.
Uh three seven for zero thirteen ten. Go ahead, have
a caller, Dave, go ahead.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
Yes.

Speaker 6 (07:26):
I listened to your program the in the day when
you were discussing the rate increases by as Uh. There
was something on National TV about there is a lot
of cities undergoing the same problem that we're having with
high rate increases on electricity.

Speaker 7 (07:44):
Uh huh and uh it uh.

Speaker 6 (07:47):
It all boils down to the the mandates and the
restrictions and uh all the regulations. All that cost adds
up and they have to get a radio increase. There
have to be a commission. I'm sure the still is
about reviewing all rating increases from a publicly held utility,
and I don't remember any of them ever not getting

(08:09):
a rating increase that they wanted. I remember one year
about four or five years ago, where it was two
eight and a half percent rating increases in the same year.
But when you these windmills and solar do just the killer,
the cost of creating a killer wide hour energy is

(08:33):
a lot more expensive than coal or natural gas or nuclear.
And the one good thing is that when these AI
projects come in, they're going to be able to put
these small nuclear plants in like they have in I
think in France, where they can reuse the rods, they

(08:53):
regenerate them and so you don't have any nuclear waste
to dispose of, which is a good thing. But the
country's going to need a lot more power. And throughout
the last eight years or ten years, there's been a
lot of coal fire power plants that could not meet
standards and they had to shut down. So we lost

(09:15):
lost those and they thought they could regenerate the lost
power by with windmills and solar panels, but it's too
unreliable to count on them, and they don't in the
cost of the kilowatt that they produce is a lot
more expensive than coal or gas, so your energy is

(09:38):
going to go up. I remember the first day Biden
went off to see shut down the XO of the
Keystone pipeline and no more in the leases on federal
lands for oil. And it just went on and on
and on, and they made it hard on the banks
to loanlining to oil companies. And then they wouldn't grant
oil companies permission to build roads back to where the

(09:59):
release are.

Speaker 7 (10:01):
Uh, which.

Speaker 6 (10:04):
Drives the cost of oil, so in gasoline. So it's
a it's it's you like those if you like those
programs that left put in, then you just have to
pay the price. Well you do tell me I have
to pay the price.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
You have to pay the price. And I wouldn't. I mean,
does every single thing everything that comes up have to
be political as them? They we know, Well, I let
you talk. I let you talk. So can I can
I make my point because you're talking about coal. Coal
has killed people. Coal is not healthy for the environment,

(10:43):
It is not healthy for humans. So coal they need
to find a cleaner, more energy efficient resource than coal.
That's been proven.

Speaker 8 (10:53):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
You talk about regulations, well, just I mean, let you know,
if it were left up to the utility company. There
would be no regulations whatsoever, and we'd all be out
here breathing. We were already probably breathing bad air or
what have you. So I'm not gonna You cannot blame
restrictions or regulations on power companies inability to manage their

(11:15):
cost like cutting down vegetation on the Biden administration. That's
just that's that's lunacy. There are things, you know. Yes,
regulations can cost money. Yes, certain things cost money, But
then you look at the long term effects and the
long term range. Cole is not going to be around
forever at some point in time, gas is not going
to be around forever. So at some point in time,

(11:36):
we're going to have to convert to something that is
more energy efficient and less of a finite resource. It's
forward thinking as opposed to let's just keep doing whatever
that we want to do and blame Biden or Obama
or the left. As you just said, that's ridiculous. You
got all right, go ahead. Yeah, most of.

Speaker 6 (11:59):
These fire prior power plants that put scrubbers in and
the pollution they cut it way.

Speaker 4 (12:04):
Way way down.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
That's a regulation. Yes, it is, well, I mean.

Speaker 4 (12:10):
It is.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
Well, why would they why even bother with that? That
costs too much money? That's a regulation. Why but you're
you're okay, okay, go ahead, go ahead.

Speaker 6 (12:20):
I'm not against putting scrubbers on fire plants, and I'm
not against converting coal power plants to natural gas. And uh,
I remember T Bone Chickens went to President Obama and
told him that he made a suggestion that you should
change all these diesel engines over to using natural liquified
natural gas and it will really cut down in the

(12:43):
pollution and maintenance on the vehicles. And uh, it would
be cheaper for these uh truck lines to run acro
gas and diesel fuel and uh, but they didn't want
to do it.

Speaker 4 (12:57):
I don't know why, but.

Speaker 6 (12:58):
They didn't want to do it. So there are always
alternatives to There's more than one way to skin a cat,
That's what I would say.

Speaker 9 (13:09):
And the.

Speaker 6 (13:12):
Power is going to be we have to have it.
And the nuclear power plants are a good idea and
they're less expensive for the producing the energy, and that
would be more ideal than windmills and solar panels.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
Well, you know what, I am not an energy expert,
but I am not opposed to forward thinking ideas and
ways to make what we are using more energy efficient.
And I think if we are going to be honest
about how to do it best, we cannot divide right
down the line and say the left did it this
way and we got to do it that way. People

(13:50):
have to work together to figure this out because this
is for the good of the planet. Well, if you agree,
why did you just say that. I mean, the thing
of it is, I don't agree with the fact that
the Indiana utili Regulatory Commission just got a rate increase
and then they want another one at some point in time.
Publicly traded utilities, as you say, or what have you,

(14:11):
they have to be responsible as well. And I don't
think that being responsible is a knee jerked reaction that says,
let's go ahead and charge the consumers without trying anything
else or without looking at anything. Cut down on some
of those corporate bonuses, you know, build it into your budget.

(14:32):
Every company that I know of has to have a
budget prepared the year before so they'll know what they
have to spend money on for upkeeping what they don't,
so that you know the cost is not spiraling that
high and that much out of control because of a regulation.
It's they're trying to keep the profit margin as it is.
They're trying to keep the same profit margin it would

(14:53):
appear as it is. So if they start.

Speaker 6 (14:56):
A profit margin is not a bad thing. When you're
galleging that is.

Speaker 10 (15:00):
A bad thing.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
Well, they're gouging people.

Speaker 6 (15:03):
Well, if do an investigation, prove it.

Speaker 4 (15:08):
That's what I say, and I'm all for it. Yeah
you can.

Speaker 6 (15:11):
If you can, if you can prove it that they're gouging,
let's do it.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
Well, I tell you what. There's several state lawmakers and
there's several citizens and they have proved. One of the
Citizens Action Coalition of Indiana had very good proof that
the utility when AES asked for their last rate increase,
they said it would be nineteen percent. They did it
cost analysis and did some research and found out that

(15:39):
it would amount to roughly twenty three percent as opposed
maybe even twenty five percent. It was dishonest, and it wasn't.
It was disingenuous. And so there is one example right there.
And if you want, you can contact the Citizens Action
Coalition and they will gladly share their they will gladly
share their research with you.

Speaker 6 (15:59):
Yeah, I've talked to them. I donate it, Okay, Uh
not everybody is always on the up and up and
uh uh you just need to have somebody that's hard
enough to know how to read the books and understand
what they're doing and and that's easily done.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
Well, yeah, that's that's why they're leading the charge against
the right height. But because they are reading my books.

Speaker 6 (16:23):
I'm on an expansion, so I don't I don't appreciate it.
I have to regulate my air conditioner and water juice
all the time.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Yeah, okay, okay, all right, Well, thank you for thank
you for the call. I appreciate it. Day all right,
thank you. Three one seven for eight zero thirteen ten
three one seven four eight zero thirteen ten. Uh Leon,
go ahead, how are you?

Speaker 10 (16:46):
Oh, I'm doing great.

Speaker 11 (16:47):
I hope you're doing well.

Speaker 12 (16:49):
I think first of all, I wanted to thank you for, uh,
just doing what you do and having having legitimate speakers
back checking speakers on Uh. The gentleman that just spoke
is my my my concern with the type of comment

(17:11):
and the type of concentration on things like energy right
now is really minor compared to the attack on democracy.
Number one, anytime you have. Anytime you compare two things,
there's going to be an average. One might cost more

(17:35):
now the other if the price raises because the amount
goes down, the other is going to be more efficient.
Number one. So your your your comment is dead on point.
We're talking about how it affects our environment here that

(17:56):
you you have people that laying id for a thunderstorm
that takes out a neighborhood. So so that comment that
that this type of person makes, it takes away legitimacy
of their concerns. My other point is we have now

(18:24):
in this state, if that person's from this state, we
have now an attack on minorities and taking their vote.
How he's not speaking how come the Republicans because obviously
he supports Republicans. How Come they're not concerned about their

(18:45):
neighbors and the people that they work besides taking their vote?
How so why didn't he mention what a kida is doing?
Tode I, I really don't understand my neighbors, the ones
that vote and can discuss with me like he's doing,

(19:07):
can discuss like what they're saying is truly true. There's
no other truth. That's my comment, and I play it.

Speaker 13 (19:17):
I'll get involved.

Speaker 12 (19:18):
I'm a regular person that really I don't have time,
but at this particular point, I don't have a choice.
The time got to want. Luther King got killed.

Speaker 4 (19:34):
I watched it.

Speaker 12 (19:35):
I know that racism is real. If this person doesn't
think about it, these are the people that we have
to go to his neighborhood take back and then let
them give us feedback. Why are you voting for somebody
that's taking away your rights?

Speaker 7 (19:53):
My right.

Speaker 12 (19:55):
And let him explain why. That's my comment.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
Thank you, thank you. Leon. My question is always why,
you know, why are you listening to the show? You know,
why do you listen to the show because you're calling
in with views that are contrary that a lot of
times are. But anyway, that's I always ask that. I
always wonder what are you what are you listening for? Jeff?

(20:18):
Go ahead? How are you, hey, Jan?

Speaker 4 (20:22):
How are you doing?

Speaker 2 (20:23):
Doing good? How about yourself?

Speaker 7 (20:25):
T g if you know?

Speaker 2 (20:26):
And yes, well.

Speaker 9 (20:29):
Doing Just a great example of people who constantly vote
to get their own best interest. I alur pribly. He
donated to the sense of the Action Coalition. I don't
want to they're kind of hippie ish man.

Speaker 2 (20:41):
Yeah, he kind of left wingers, Dave.

Speaker 9 (20:44):
You're contributing to liberals or something. I just don't find
that extraordinary. And you know, you know, if we would
have had regulation in nineteen twenty nineteen, we were we
probab would have never had the Great Depression, you.

Speaker 7 (21:00):
Know what I mean?

Speaker 9 (21:01):
And we do with the stock market crash and all
that and the Great Depression.

Speaker 4 (21:06):
So there you have it.

Speaker 9 (21:08):
You know, these these wealthy corporations that are so greed
so greedy that they don't even look out for the
best teres of the country. It's all about their bottom line.
And because of that, we with the nineteen twenty nine
stock market crash and with and Dave, guess what it
took socialism to rescue America. You know, the New Deal, Dave,

(21:33):
those were socialist programs. They're Rescue America FDR. I don't
think that FDR was a member of the Communist Party
or nothing like that, you know, or the VA hospitals,
they're pretty socialistic. The mail and social Security, Dave, you want,
I'll take you to social Security away from you if
you don't want, because that's a socialist program. America is
a high bred team and we all know that it's

(21:53):
half capitalist and it's half socialists, you know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (21:57):
So that's what that's what we do.

Speaker 9 (21:59):
We're old Calgary margaret driven society.

Speaker 4 (22:02):
But yeah, when when the.

Speaker 9 (22:03):
Markets get out of hand and the corporations one of
fielder goffers, you know, it takes socialism to rescue if
you keep up that safety net. Okay, so we won't
have to go into a depression. So all right, they
keep over the robber barons. They don't like you, Dave.
They don't want them to do with you. They just
just want your boats so they can just throw you
under the bus. But anyway to this, even watching news

(22:24):
this morning.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
Oh yes, and you know what, I got three words?
We are there, we there heel yeah, I'm sorry. Go ahead, no,
go ahead, go ahead, Don Bolton.

Speaker 9 (22:39):
And I know they know who John Bowden is. You know,
this guy is not a liberal. He is not a
hippie guy. He's he's got a left wing. This guy
is a Ronald Reagan Republican.

Speaker 2 (22:51):
And he was at one point in time a Donald
Trump Republican. Donald Trump died in the wool Maga height.
So uh, there's I'm on social media, who are saying
good enough for you, buddy? Because you were rolling around
with him and this is what yeah, yeah right, they
were dogs you get for you Yeah. Yeah, So he
saw what.

Speaker 9 (23:11):
Donald Trump was doing, you know, pitulating the Vladimir Puga
and John Mowden is no no fan of Vladimir Putin.
It was, you know, that's that's Trump's uh you know,
it's that's basically Trump's temp you know's okay, that's that's
that's more nice. Yeah, you're right, that's his role model.

Speaker 11 (23:32):
And uh.

Speaker 9 (23:34):
So for Donald Trump to raid this guy's home, is
he they are we trying to say that John Moen
got got something on Trump cause he said because I
met on several interviews that he said, yeah, you know,
Donald Trump ain't right. He's he's not even a conservative,
you know, he's a con artist.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
Yeah, I mean that could be.

Speaker 6 (23:56):
I saw it.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
It's just retribution just to mess with him. But that
to that, you know, what if you could be onto something.
I didn't think about that then you know.

Speaker 9 (24:06):
He said he was going to throw a boat and
other go to boat and wrote an all tell all
book about Trump and he's going on in the White House. Absolutely,
and he said I got to get out of here
because this guy something wrong day. The guy is not
a left wing liberal, you know, he's not a Woodstock liberal.
This guy is a he is a Ronald Reagan Republican.

(24:28):
This guy is a serveted as you can get. And
for Donald Trump to want to arrest this guy, what's
going on? And if I'm somewhere, because we know there's
a lot of Republicans and then they're not on the
Trump bandwagon. We know that a lot of them, you know.
But Dave David and people like him, and Bob the
other crazy guy that calls all weekend, they're on the

(24:49):
part of the colt. It's a cult. But uh and
Mike Brown, he's a part of the cult. And sold
this mister uh Podrichita, you know, after going after d
and all that, you know, which is nothing more than
smokescreen because you know they they uh, they're all doing
the bidding of Trump. And and we all know who

(25:13):
the biggest beneficiaries of it's white women. They you got
you got nothing to worry about from me and Tea.
The person you need to worry about is put your
granddaughter or your next door neighbors. Thought you got none
to work from us? There was you know, white women
are really Clayton, you know, really, you know, got your market.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
That's it, that's it.

Speaker 9 (25:32):
So I know, but they don't believe.

Speaker 4 (25:34):
He don't believe that.

Speaker 9 (25:34):
Now he wants to tuck her Carlson.

Speaker 2 (25:36):
And Charlie kra you know, that's that's his choice. But
there you're not gonna find her on this station. Thank you, Jeff.
I appreciate your call. You will not find any of
them or their propaganda here on this station, which is
why I just find it interesting. But what Jeff was
talking about was that early this morning, the FBI raided
the home of John Bolton. And for those of you

(25:57):
who do not know who John Bolton.

Speaker 14 (25:58):
Is, he is.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
Trump's former Donald Trump's former national security advisor. He wrote
a book and since that book, he has had harsh
criticism of Donald Trump, and Trump is vowed to get
even with him. And so when I say we are there,
I'm talking about the police state, the authoritarian nature, where
it's all right there playing out, Uh in real time?

(26:23):
Uh three one seven for eight, zero, thirteen ten? Can
we squeeze one more?

Speaker 4 (26:28):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (26:28):
Okay, we got Pierre, go ahead.

Speaker 1 (26:30):
How are you.

Speaker 11 (26:32):
Hello, Tina?

Speaker 4 (26:35):
You got enough time?

Speaker 11 (26:36):
It's it's almost a commercial break time.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
Yeah, well I'm yeah, go ahead, go ahead, Okay, you.

Speaker 11 (26:44):
Know, because I tried to get in before Jeff's segment.

Speaker 12 (26:47):
But here's the thing.

Speaker 11 (26:51):
I'm gonna have to cut mine short. We're gonna comment
on the energy thing. But here's the thing on that
we had.

Speaker 12 (27:01):
George W.

Speaker 11 (27:01):
Bush ran this economy into the grounds. When we left
two thousand and eight, this country was on his knees economically,
and you know, President Obama and Biden came in, gave
us eight years of growth. We shot ourselves in the foot,
and essentially black people and Democrats have nobody to blame

(27:27):
but themselves. And blowing an election in twenty sixteen and
blowing the one that put Trump back in office, that's
our fault. And so we're gonna get kicked into teeth.
But I wanted to bring up you know, you guys
were slamming on net and Yahoo yesterday or the other day,

(27:51):
and I don't understand why y'all guys, why y'all hate
this guy so much. The war would be over in
Gaza tomorrow if those Hamas terrorists would give up the hostages.
Thank God for Benjamin Netanyahu. And I tried to get

(28:12):
in before Jeff called in, because you know, we all
know that Jeff was over in the war back in
nineteen eighty three, right when they blew up the barracks,
the Marine Corps barracks in Lebanon, who killed the two
hundred and forty American Marines and sixty French soldiers and

(28:32):
all of that. The man who in who initiated that operation.
The United States of America, for whatever reason, left that
guy alive for forty years, for forty years. And guess
what last year, the IDF and Benjamin net and Yahoo

(28:56):
they got it, killed two hundred and forty one of
our soldiers in the United States of America. And Ronald
Reagan left that guy alive for forty years. When you
and and and and so when you talk about Benjamin
Nett and Yahoo, Yeah, put some respect on the man's name.

Speaker 2 (29:15):
Okay, I appreciate.

Speaker 11 (29:17):
Because he because he did some he's making the hard
calls that we couldn't make. And I'll tell you something else.
We're finding out about the Reagan administration and one of
the reasons why we're in this hot situation in the
first place, hostage situations, hostage taking work. And you know,
Ronald Reagan before he became president. His Bill Casey, his

(29:41):
man worked with the Iranians to keep the hostages there
to help President Carter lose the election. So you know,
and then and then you wonder why the United States
didn't retaliate in nineteen eighty three when we blew up
when they blew up the Marines in Lebanon, because the
Iranians knew ranking administration knew.

Speaker 4 (30:04):
What they had done.

Speaker 11 (30:05):
Okay, So I think that I think that might have
been one of the reasons why we didn't go after it.
But thank God for the guy yes and Benjamin Netanyahu,
and they got that guy, Jeff, they got him last year. Okay,
Like I said, put some respect on the man's name
when you call in here talking about Benjamin net y'ah,
who's doing this doing that?

Speaker 2 (30:24):
Okay, Okay, I got you, Pierre, I got you, I
got youa uh, And I'm gonna have to say, no,
I'm not gonna respect Benjamin Netanyahu. Respect is given when
respect is earned. And what he is currently doing and
those pictures of these children that look like skeletons is
beyond despicable.

Speaker 4 (30:43):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
And that is not Hamas, that is net Yahoo and
anybody that calls and says give net Yahoo some respect,
they must be talking to somebody else because it ain't
coming from me. We'll be right back after this.

Speaker 12 (31:19):

Let's get back to the conversation. It's Community Connection with
Tina Cosby, brought to you by Child Advocates, a champion
for justice, opportunity and well being for children on phrase
Am thirteen ten ninety five point one FM.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
And we're back with Community Connection. Miss Cordelia Lewis works
is coming up very shortly, so let's get to a
couple of these calls and then we'll go to miss
Ms Cordelia, the real Deborah.

Speaker 10 (36:04):
Go ahead.

Speaker 13 (36:04):
How are you.

Speaker 12 (36:07):
Hey, Miss Tina?

Speaker 26 (36:08):
How are you well?

Speaker 9 (36:09):
Thank you?

Speaker 2 (36:09):
You doing okay?

Speaker 27 (36:11):
I'm doing good.

Speaker 12 (36:12):
Hey, Cam.

Speaker 28 (36:14):
I don't know if anybody has mentioned this or not,
but I went to pay my bill at the AE
s Kios which is no longer there. Yes, I'm just
trying to figure out, you know, because I do business
in the area. So I said, well, since I'm over here,

(36:35):
let me stop by the kios and go pay the bill.
And this man approached me and he said, well, it was,
you know, completely blocked off. And he said that he
was waiting on somebody else because they were in the
process of buying the building.

Speaker 27 (36:52):
So I'm wondering, aside of mailing in the billing your payment,
how do you.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
Pay it or do you Well, it's that it says
here the Kubra Easy Pay kiosk at the customer service center,
which you said are no longer available, or at various
authorized pay agents like Walmart, Kroger and others that accept
cash check or money orders. Two dollars service fees typically

(37:21):
applied at one of those authorizing agencies. But uh, that's
that's about the only place that looks like uh, Walmart
and Kroger.

Speaker 27 (37:31):
So let me get a straight y'are trying to raise
the increase the bill and then.

Speaker 11 (37:39):
You get rid of the kiosk.

Speaker 12 (37:41):
Then you want me to pay you money to pay you.
Uh that's where it isn't that?

Speaker 2 (37:46):
Yeah, yeah, it makes no sense.

Speaker 16 (37:49):
It makes no sense.

Speaker 2 (37:50):
Yeah, that's howppens.

Speaker 17 (37:52):
But we But but then what it's a lot that
doesn't make sense that's occurring right now, like how this
convicted Feeling as president and then trying to.

Speaker 12 (38:04):
Get all these states to resulting.

Speaker 6 (38:10):
Ding.

Speaker 17 (38:13):
I'm trying not to dig my fingernails into the palm
of my fist.

Speaker 4 (38:17):
I don't understand it.

Speaker 6 (38:19):
Yeah, well, but do you have any answers.

Speaker 27 (38:23):
On the any any any updates on the revolution?

Speaker 2 (38:26):
I'm down with that, not yet, but I tell you what,
as soon as I get it, I will let you know.
I guess they're you know, one and thank you dev
one small victory that we can boast of. I guess
is the Target boycott. It worked, whether the target wants
to admit it or not. So we have people nationally
saying that the Target boycott did work, and we need

(38:47):
to keep our ourselves organized and keep at it. Uh
three zero thirteen ten. We'll get ready to go to
Ms Cordelia. Let's see, Ron, Well, we'll take your call.
Then we might be able to get to one more.
But we got to go to our guests. Go ahead, Ron,
how you doing, I'm doing well? Yourself?

Speaker 4 (39:04):
Okay, I'm doing okay.

Speaker 10 (39:06):
I'll make this real quick because I know you got
to go in your next segment, been in now, who
is a war criminal? Plain and simple?

Speaker 7 (39:15):
Uh?

Speaker 10 (39:16):
The uh the gentleman that called earlier talking about regulations,
I guess you forgot that Richard Nixon established the e
p A. Okay, so has it always has it always
been on one side?

Speaker 2 (39:28):
Okay.

Speaker 10 (39:29):
Richard Nixon was also for universal health care, okay, but
they killed that, uh with the uh the regulations.

Speaker 7 (39:40):
Right.

Speaker 10 (39:40):
If we didn't have any type of regulation, right, we
would probably be looking like just nothing but small period.
So this is not a democratic problem. It's not a
republic a democratic thing or Republican thing. Okay. And the
last thing I'll say is John Bolton. John Boulton was

(40:00):
a Reagan Republican, true enough, he was not a Trump Republican.
He got picked for being on Fox TV, and he
went to he went to Trump. The only reason he
went into Trump administration, and this is my belief, is
because of his hatred for Iran and he thought that
that Trump would go along with him and attack Iran.

Speaker 1 (40:21):
Okay.

Speaker 10 (40:21):
John Bolden when he was the u N uh worked
at the u N Right, he was too uh uh
uh radical for George Bush, you know. So it's it's
just it goes around. So what's happening here today with
John Bolchen? They'll find nothing on John Bolten?

Speaker 2 (40:40):
Okay, No, he I think he's a little bit too smart.
But it's just revenge. It's just like I'm gonna smack
you back. But yeah, again, he accepted he knew what
Trump was about, though, and he accepted a position in
that administration.

Speaker 10 (40:50):
So you know, he just wants and Trump wants to.
This is Trump's testing of the waters to see whether
he can go after President Obama okay and members of
his cabinet.

Speaker 2 (41:03):
And he will. He will. That's up, that's coming.

Speaker 10 (41:06):
Well, but I'll tell you this, if he if he
go after Obama, now, if they're talking about a civil
war that may trigger for him, it'd be all.

Speaker 2 (41:14):
Right than final call, VICKI will get to you, and
then we're gonna go to Viscutty. Go ahead, VICKI, good afternoon.

Speaker 12 (41:23):
Thank you protecting my call.

Speaker 29 (41:26):
I have a comment about the eight.

Speaker 2 (41:28):
And n Okay.

Speaker 4 (41:29):
I don't know if anybody has.

Speaker 29 (41:31):
Looked at it or not, but there's already an every
teen dollars customer service charge that we all get automatically
on our bill. It's not over on the side where
you have your meter of services.

Speaker 30 (41:43):
In every game.

Speaker 29 (41:45):
It's over there up underneath your name and whatnot. But
I want to know what is this seventeen dollars customer
service beef? And everybody that I've mentioned it to, I've
passed them and look at their bill and it exists already.

Speaker 9 (41:58):
What is that for?

Speaker 29 (41:59):
I mean, it's some monopoly here. What we got to
pay every two dollars just to be your customers?

Speaker 8 (42:05):
Yeah?

Speaker 10 (42:06):
I would like to just feedback on.

Speaker 2 (42:08):
That, alrighty well, we'll check it out that I don't know, Vicky,
but I know that there's a lot of extra junk
fees that they throw in there because they can to
keep the price of the bill up. But thank you,
thank you for your call. Let's go now to h
It's been a minute and we are so happy to
have her back, Miss Cordelia Lewis Burk's Miss Cordelia, welcome back.

(42:29):
How have you been, Tina?

Speaker 8 (42:33):
I where she used to complain, I'm doing okay. There
have been several things in my life. Yeah, hit my
heart went right through my heart. But you know, I'm
still able to get up in the morning and put
the coffee pot on it and brush my teeth and

(42:54):
get ready for the day.

Speaker 2 (42:56):
Was that somebody told me once. As long as you
continue to brush your teeth with the toothbrush not a
hair brush, you're in good space. And there are some
days you feel like grabbing for whatever. But I understand
what you're saying, and we can't thank you enough. And
for those who may not know, Miss Cordelia a veteran
political campaign strategist, community activist, and a good friend of

(43:18):
community connection right here on Praise Am thirteen ten in
ninety five point one. You know, Miss Cordelia, just when
I think there's something that we can ask you about
that has happened recently, then you know, news blows up
about this FBI raid of a Trump critic is basically
what it is. You know, he's a critic. Trump is

(43:38):
vowed to get back at him, and so he sticks
the FBI on him and launches an investigation. But when
I say we are there, I really mean that because
he's got everybody in place to carry it out. There
are no people who are going to push back and
say we can't do this.

Speaker 8 (43:56):
That's true, and that's like John. I believe that John Bowden,
uh succumbed to being a member of his administration.

Speaker 14 (44:06):
Uh.

Speaker 8 (44:07):
You know, he is of a party that I questioned
all time, except for several things under several Republican presidents
like Richard Nixon and like both of the Bushes. I
was listening to your previous caller, and he had a

(44:29):
lot of things that he expressed that his history. But
I remember how George.

Speaker 7 (44:37):
W.

Speaker 8 (44:37):
Bush Uh initiated programs in Africa for AIDS. You remember that.
So No, there have been Republican presidents who have reached
out with their heart for the people, but this one
has not because he has no heart. This man had snard,

(45:01):
you know. And I often think when I allow myself
to listen to the media describing what he is doing,
and I wonder how he will what he will say
when he meets his maker, Because when you take food
out of the miles of babes around the world who

(45:24):
were able to grow and have food, I mean, and
it's not just in Africa and other countries around the world,
it is right here in America. And can I don't
have to tell you this radio show tried to inform

(45:47):
our people of some of the things that would happen
if he became president, you know, and they didn't listen.
Many did not listen. And that is why he sits
in the White House now with all that gold calling
stuff behind him that lets you know where his heart is.
But with John Bolt and I believe, I'm hoping that

(46:13):
things will subside, the negative stuff will subside for him.
But when you see that this man is not only
going after all of the institutions in this country and
even around the world that have sustained people, you know,
now he's going after the Kennedys Center, and he's putting his.

Speaker 12 (46:36):
Name on it.

Speaker 8 (46:37):
Let you know where he is now, you know he
I just failed to understand why the Lord would let
all of this happen. But maybe he's trying to get
us to open our eyes when our eyes were smarter.
But sometimes it's too late.

Speaker 2 (46:57):
Well, I tell you what I think the Lord is
talking to us right now, because you would not believe
who just walked into our studio, Miss Cordelia. You just
would not believe it that I go ahead and introduce yourself.

Speaker 31 (47:10):
Hello with your girl, Darling Dayling, Darling, Darling, indeed, Darling McCoy,
the nightly Spirit, her nightly here on praise AM thirteen
ten and ninety five point one FM eight eight eight
to ten, eight.

Speaker 2 (47:25):
Until eleven pm. She is the legend. She has made
radio history. She's Maderex, She's just everything. And we are
so excited to have you here in our studio with us.
I just can't believe he just popped in, really literally.

Speaker 32 (47:41):
Just popped up to say hello and thank you to
everyone in Indianapolis that has always supported the Nightly Spirit.

Speaker 33 (47:48):
I'm just so happy to be here.

Speaker 2 (47:50):
And hey, well, we're happy to have you. And you know,
things are getting a little heavy. Miss Cordelia was talking.
Callers were talking, and you know, they were talking about
the r and I truly did mean that. I mean
because you came in right on time. Because what's what's
the other side of this? How can we keep our
heads above water? I guess she usuld say keep going.

Speaker 33 (48:13):
We have to keep going.

Speaker 32 (48:14):
You know, we carry we carry Christ in us, and
when we walk around with our heads down, it makes
it makes it seem like we've forgotten who we are.
And one of the things that we need to understand
is the power and the authority that we have in Christ.
He is He's not only a healer, he's a provider,

(48:35):
he's a keeper, and we've got to act like that
and let his light shine in us, because yes, we
are under duress. It's a lot going on every days, say,
and it feels like the weight of the world is
on us right now, and it feels like God is forgotten.

Speaker 33 (48:53):
Sometimes it really does feel that way.

Speaker 32 (48:56):
But this is when we get together as a community
and we pray and seek his face and he'll heal
our land.

Speaker 33 (49:04):
I really believe that. I think that, and I know
this does not sound.

Speaker 32 (49:10):
This doesn't sound popular because we're all going through it
and we're filling the crunch of it. But I really
believe that we are in the season where legends are made.
Because if you think of the legends that we know
and that we celebrate, they were in conditions like these
that they made different decisions. They made the decisions that

(49:32):
went against the grain. They believe that God would bring us.

Speaker 33 (49:36):
Through and they held on to that. They held on
to what they saw, and we've got to do that.

Speaker 32 (49:42):
I think that we've got to really deep, reach deep
down in and find that that peace that surpasses man's
understanding and live.

Speaker 2 (49:54):
You know, so you feel that on your show, I'm
sure when you talk to listeners.

Speaker 32 (49:58):
Oh my god, yes, it's heavy. It's a very heavy season.
But when we go and lift weights mm hmmm. If
they're lightweight, we never grow hmm. But when they're heavy
and we continue to push, that's when we become stronger

(50:20):
and stronger.

Speaker 2 (50:21):
And the operative phrase there is continue to push, because
I think even during the last election, so many people
were already heavy with the politics of it all and
talking about this is the same and whatever, and so
they just felt the heaviness and didn't keep pushing, and
so we, you know, subsequently are where we are right now.

(50:41):
But yeah, I just always so inspired listening to your
shows at night. They really they're.

Speaker 3 (50:48):
A lot of fun too.

Speaker 32 (50:49):
Well, thank you, and that's that actually is the key.
We got to continue to laugh and smile.

Speaker 14 (50:54):
You know.

Speaker 32 (50:54):
The reason that I am here in Indianapolis is to
bring everyone together to prey, because when it gets heavy,
I believe that that's when God wants to hear from us.
He says, if my people who are called by my
name would humble themselves and pray and seek my face,
turn from my wicked ways, then I will hear from

(51:14):
heaven and he'll forgive their sin and heal the land.

Speaker 2 (51:18):
We have on the line with this one of our
favorite guests, Miss Cordelia Lewisburg. She is a veteran campaign's
strategist politics. She has seen it all. Oh she has
worked with the Obama Miss Miss Cordelia to share a
little bit with with our guest, the Darlene McCoy from
The Nightly Spirit.

Speaker 8 (51:41):
Well, when I hear her name, it reminds me and
I think of this person often. My dear friend Brunetta's
Sloss Tanner. Yeh wows the way some years ago, yes
had a continuous program on Radio one WT We'll see

(52:01):
and a great friend of Amos Brown. You know, every
time I went to a city to work in a
presidential campaign, and that includes the Iowa caucus, in the
New Hampshire primary, and the Bush v. Gore down in Florida,
I had to call Amos and let him know what

(52:24):
was going on. So when I got to the airport,
I would call Amos and let him know what was
happening in each of those state elections. So it's good
to hear you. It is amazing. I was telling someone
the other day, and I've often been asked why don't

(52:44):
you write a book that I grew up in McDowell County,
West Virginia. My mother died when I was eleven years old,
and I was the oldest of five children, with the
youngest men two weeks old. There's only two of us
still living, and that's my baby sister, who was two

(53:07):
weeks old when my mother passed, and myself. She's a
retired school teacher in Charleston, West Virginias. But you know,
I was able to graduate from West Virginia State College
in Charleston, West Virginia Institute, West Virginia, and when I

(53:27):
came home after I got my degree, I knew that
I could not still live with my father, who was
a pastor of a Church of God in christ Church.
You know, would put lipsticks on when I got on
the school bus in the morning and try to eat
it off before I got back home. I recalled. I
came home Christmas one year and Daddy said, girl, I

(53:52):
smelled cigarette smoke. Are you smoking them? I said, don't know, Daddy,
that was people on the bus. You know, That's how
my father was, but you know he rates off for
his efforts. I hope that I reflect my upbringing because
we were in church until eleven o'clock at Nice on Sundays.

(54:14):
And I remember once I got up on the back
to you it must have been about eleven o'clock and
yelled out, walk tomorrow. You know the scolding I got
when we got in the car, don't you come back home?
But I've been truly blessed. I hope I Tina got.

Speaker 2 (54:35):
The the Yeah, we're going to talk about that in
a little bit.

Speaker 8 (54:43):
I'm hosting, as a member of the Kempel High School,
California Chapter, our fifty third reunion this Labor Day weekend.
Our school set up on top of a mountain. The
school bus driver could only take us so far. Yeah, hello, okay,

(55:08):
I think it was nineteen sixty seven. Yeah, a sensible
Supreme Court issued a ruling that all schools would become desegregated. Yes,
so our school closed and it became a junior high
school for all members of our community. But there were
about twenty or twenty five former graduates of Kimball that

(55:31):
lived in Detroit who organized a national Kimball High School
Alumni Association.

Speaker 2 (55:39):
Have you ever heard of anything like that? A national
high school alumni association?

Speaker 33 (55:42):
Actually, I have Lawrence, South Carolina, oh High School.

Speaker 32 (55:48):
Yes, and it's like it can't be an HBCU, But
if there were an HBCU high school, that is it.
They have an alumni association with a high school in Florence,
South Carolina.

Speaker 23 (55:57):
Yeah, that was the.

Speaker 33 (55:58):
First I've heard of it. Now this is the second.

Speaker 8 (56:00):
I'm like, whoa, Okay, McDowell County at Western Johnny and
there were four Negro high schools and one was Elkorn
High School and Gary High School.

Speaker 1 (56:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (56:14):
Now Billy bro Senator Brendley Brow, she graduated from Elcorn
High School, which was a few miles up the road
from Kemball.

Speaker 2 (56:25):
So, but those are people, you know. I was gonna say,
those are amazing stories and you know, just just amazing
testaments to to people. But you know, Mss Cordelia, when
you talk about that time, I think people or was
it was it facade or were we imagining things? Or
was it real that people tended to rely on their

(56:46):
faith a lot more than they are now as they
got through difficult times.

Speaker 32 (56:51):
What is I really believe that they did rely on
their faith more than they do. Nothing, just because I
feel like there are so many different ideals being introduced
to our culture. And so much has happened to the church,
you know what I mean. So much has happened in
the church from corruption or whatever it is. You know,
the church hurt, you know, thing it happens, It happens

(57:14):
so much. But what we have to really understand is,
regardless of the ideals, regardless of the culture, regardless of
even what people have done in church.

Speaker 33 (57:26):
God is still God, and he's still good, and he's.

Speaker 32 (57:29):
Still with us, you know, and we just have to
find our way back back, you know, to getting into
fellowship with God so that we can get through these
times with him.

Speaker 2 (57:40):
I love your show. I tell you, I love that
you are here in our studio.

Speaker 33 (57:45):
I'm so happy to be here.

Speaker 12 (57:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (57:46):
So is the public going to get a chance to
see you while you're here?

Speaker 13 (57:50):
Yes?

Speaker 32 (57:50):
Well, now this is very different, okay, guys, because I'm
here for a prayer service, but we're praying from three
am to six am in the morning. I know that's oh,
but I will tell you that we every month, we're
traveling from city to city to gather the people of
God together as the church, not my church, their church,

(58:13):
your church. It's the church to come together and pray
because we believe God. We still believe that He hears
our prayers, and we still believe He answers our prayers.
So we are in Indianapolis. We were in Atlanta last
month in Indianapolis. This month, we're at Puritan Baptist Church,
Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop Grinstead from three to six

(58:35):
in the morning, praying together with with your your peers,
your your churches that are your church community. They're all
we're coming together next month. We're gonna be in Greenville,
South Carolina. Then we're gonna go. We're just gonna go
from state to say. You just follow us on.

Speaker 33 (58:52):
Our Instagram page at fourth Dot Watch Collective.

Speaker 32 (58:56):
The reason we get up early that early in the
morning is that's actually when you hear from God.

Speaker 2 (59:01):
Oh I have heard that so many times. Yeah, we
need to hear from God.

Speaker 33 (59:06):
You know, we don't need to just pray. We need
to hear what God is saying.

Speaker 2 (59:09):
Indeed, indeed, we need to hear from you every night. Right, yes,
right here, praise thank you so much for stopping having me.
We appreciate you, my goodness, you made time for us,
and Miss Cordelia. We're going to continue right after this break.
Great to meet you, Miss Cordelia, you as well. All right,
we'll be right back.

Speaker 2 (01:04:35):
And we are back with Community Connection. Our guest, well,
we got a couple of guests. We've got some superstars
this hour. We've got, of course, the great Miss Cordelia
Burks and then from our very own family right here
on Praise Darlene McCoy, who hosts a nightly Spirit every
night from eight till eleven. She is in town for

(01:04:56):
an overnight prayer service and just to talk to people
and to visit with folks. So I was really excited
to have her in here. She's a wonderful lady. Wonderful lady.
But Miss Cordelia, we were talking about, you know, the
heaviness of everything that's out there. Where do we start?

Speaker 8 (01:05:14):
Well, I have pondered that in my heart. I received
an email the other night reflecting that the ku Klux
plan had marched downtown in one of the partire An entouplists.
You know, Trump has given them permission to openly display themselves.

Speaker 2 (01:05:35):
Yeah, and they still wear a mask. Isn't that weird?

Speaker 8 (01:05:38):
That's true. The other thing is that he is not
trying to rid the country of mail in ballards because
he is so afraid he's not going to be re
elected in twenty twenty eight. And that is one of
the reasons why he is trying to increase the number

(01:06:00):
of the Republican Caucus members and the Congress, but starting
with Texas because he knew that that governor would bow
down and kiss his boots and do anything. He says.
They have come after Andre Carson and Senator merts up
in Lake County, whose father served in the Announded State Legislature.

Speaker 2 (01:06:23):
First, I didn't saying his name wrong. I thought it
was I called Frank Okay.

Speaker 8 (01:06:31):
Text messages and emails from every politician around the country,
and you won't believe I have ignored the text messages
from the governor of California until last night when I
succome and send him a contribution of one hundred dollars
because we must fight fire with fire. You know, I

(01:06:53):
love our former first lady Is who said when they
stoop low, we'd stoop higher. We climb higher. But you
know in my heart now that is something I will
put aside, and I will assist any individual who is
running for Congress so that we will not lose our

(01:07:15):
democracy in this country. I don't know, we know we
written hadn't thought much about it because we could do
whatever we wanted to, and legislation on the national and
state and city levels have opened up in many places
where you know, if we voted, we could realize great things.

(01:07:39):
You know, I go back to doctor Martin Luther King,
and you know they love to repeat his words, but
they don't live up to it. So we must just
get out and vote. You know, he's bringing the Republican

(01:07:59):
legislature to the legislatories to the White House within the month,
it may be next week to convince them that they
must support redistricting here in the state of Indiana. So
so many of them have indicated that this is not

(01:08:21):
necessary because they do have most congressional seats seven, right,
that's true. And that's so they're trying to get rid
of our congressmen who an eloquent spokesman for the people
of the congressionals seventh congressional districts. So you know, and

(01:08:41):
I wonder about places like Eli Lilly who give vast
amounts of contributions to congressional and state and national candidates.
But you know, they never gave a dime to Julia Carson.
They given a finny to Andre Carson, and so you

(01:09:04):
know it it maybe we think we don't have contributions
to give to our congressperson, but you know, five dollars helps. Yeah,
and he's just right down the street, uh in the
Carson Center, where we could just go in there and
and write a check or for five dollars or just

(01:09:27):
put five dollars in an envelope and seal it up
and put the congressman's name on it. It will help
him to fight this off because you know, he has
done a district that that supports him. He is in
a district where he brings financial money's back to not

(01:09:50):
only any Inanapolis, but the it serves the around the counting. Yeah,
he's been a great congressman. I heard him on one
of the TV shows last week, and he's always so
eloquent and he doesn't allow himself to fall into the
trap of the media because he knows that he's there
because of his constituent constituents, and he's there to serve us.

(01:10:15):
But this thing that Trump has going on, I see
he's after mister Bolton, who wrote about him. Yep, you
know that that's why he's so upset with him, because
Bolton exposed things that he was doing. And not only
uh uh, Secretary Bolton. He's coming after anybody. He said,

(01:10:38):
he tells us, yep, I will be your retribution.

Speaker 2 (01:10:43):
And he is on his retribution to regardless of who
it affects, who it hurts, or what it looks like.

Speaker 8 (01:10:49):
Absolutely so. And he is he I don't believe he
will leave the White House.

Speaker 2 (01:10:56):
I don't think not willingly.

Speaker 8 (01:10:59):
And let me tell you this, but he's got people
in the place who will see that he doesn't lead.
You know, we he has become uh. He plays with
this guy's name over the Department of Defense army heads
or Peter had said, you know these qualifications that he

(01:11:19):
was on the Fox News show weekends at that And
I don't know if the Office of the President while
he's there is able to call up the Army uh
to come and remove him from the White House. I
see has authorized the National Guard to carry weapons in

(01:11:42):
the district of GluN I was hoping that the citizens
in the district would just stay at home and just
ignore he and the National Guard. And you know, I
look at Western jennym whose governor is sending the National
Guard to the district of Columbus. Let me tell you

(01:12:07):
people in most people in West Virginia are so poor
that they don't many of them don't have food to eat,
even though they voted. Those who voted voted for Trump.
I'm gonna tell you, when I was growing up, it
was always a democratic governor who was voted in in

(01:12:27):
West Virginia. The last one was Robert Kennedy and John Kennedy,
and citizens of West Virginia love those two two presidents.
But we're in a difficult times and your last guest said,
we have to pray, but prayer will not do it all.

(01:12:50):
We must get out and vote. And I don't know
care what obstacles they have put in our way. We've
got to get out to get out and do it
another way. We make our voices.

Speaker 6 (01:13:03):
Ms.

Speaker 2 (01:13:03):
Cordelia, Do you think that Mike Brown is going to
acquiesce and go ahead and order a special session and
surprise me? It wouldn't surprise you, Okay.

Speaker 8 (01:13:13):
You see he did not give money to that was
appropriated for a number of years from Martin University.

Speaker 4 (01:13:22):
Yep.

Speaker 8 (01:13:22):
He's got rid of d e I with the state government.
So he will do anything to as Trump will, to
stay in office and reflect his appreciation of Donald Trump.
So I've heard from many Republican state legislators that this

(01:13:43):
is not necessary. We have most of the congressional seats
in Indiana that are Republicans, So you know, that kind.

Speaker 2 (01:13:53):
Of surprised me too, that there were so many Republicans
other than the group in Washington, that was all for it,
but the majority of the Republican bodies here in Indiana,
here in Indiana weren't real gung ho about it at all.

Speaker 8 (01:14:08):
Absolutely, so we will see what Braun will do. I
have a need for Von Braun. I wrote him letters
about voting for Lewis Voting Rights Bill. He never responded,
Senator Young. He never did what I asked him to do,
but he always replied with some kind of excuse. I

(01:14:32):
have to give him credit for that. I will never
vote for him, but I give him credit for responding
because I am a constituent of his in the state
of Indiana, not by choice. You know, I don't know
where this nation is headed, but I'm just hoping that
the citizens of this country will vote against this man

(01:14:56):
because you know, most of the things in his great
beautiful bill will hurt them more than us.

Speaker 2 (01:15:04):
Yep, that's true, but they don't. They don't see it
that way, Miss Rdelia's a couple of folks that want
to ask you a couple of questions, if that's okay,
and then we'll get yeah, because I want to talk
to you about what we need to continue to do.
Uh three one, seven, four eight, zero thirteen ten three
one seven four eight zero thirteen ten. Uh, Diane, go ahead,

(01:15:24):
how are you?

Speaker 4 (01:15:26):
Yes, this is Diane.

Speaker 39 (01:15:27):
I was calling because I was having a problem with
as for two months my payments had to miss payment.

Speaker 29 (01:15:35):
I had one in June and.

Speaker 1 (01:15:37):
I have.

Speaker 39 (01:15:39):
And they founally got it, they got it posted, but
I don't see.

Speaker 29 (01:15:42):
No adjustment on it.

Speaker 4 (01:15:44):
Then I have one in July and they.

Speaker 39 (01:15:46):
Told me that I needed to pay my bill before
the twenty eight I paid my bill to eighteen, okay July, well,
well it was it was a credit to my account
the eighteen. It was tooking off the twenty and I
gave him proof of stuff.

Speaker 26 (01:16:03):
But I don't know what else I need to do
because yeah, okay.

Speaker 2 (01:16:09):
You know we were talking about that in the last segment.
I'm trying to I'll tell you what. Let me see
if I can find a number or somewhere where you
can call and I'll just step it's stay on the line. Uh,
I can have care. But yeah, unfortunately we we wrap
that up a little bit of going, I don't have
it right here in front of me.

Speaker 12 (01:16:26):
Yeah, I heard I heard y'all talking.

Speaker 2 (01:16:29):
Yeah that, well, I appreciate you I appreciate you listening.
Go ahead and miss Cordelia.

Speaker 8 (01:16:33):
Our citizens in this state is the Citizen Action Citizen Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:16:39):

Speaker 8 (01:16:43):

me put this phone off. I'll call her back. The
Action Coalition. I used to sit on their state board.
But they do a fine job they do advocating for
the city distance of Indiana. Yes, jail state wide. Yeah,

(01:17:04):

Speaker 2 (01:17:07):
They may be able to get And here here's their number, Diane,

Miss Cordelia.

Speaker 4 (01:18:02):
Yeah, mister Deve.

Speaker 7 (01:18:05):
Doing beautiful worker the US.

Speaker 2 (01:18:10):
Brother man, can you turn down your radio just a
bit so that we don't get the feedback? Okay, good, good.

Speaker 4 (01:18:18):
Good, And.

Speaker 7 (01:18:24):
Everything you said was on point. But we have to
stop talking and start doing. When I say that, we
need to march in front of the State Office, killing
and from any jilding that has anything to do with

(01:18:48):
the Trump organization. They're trying to put us back to
where we was when we was both change this country.

Speaker 4 (01:19:00):
We in the country.

Speaker 14 (01:19:04):
And you know that.

Speaker 7 (01:19:06):
And you are a beautiful person because you know all
these things we had to do more than we're talking.
We talking, we are doing Minor the King and all
them guys are pasted before us. They did sup my marching.

(01:19:32):
We need marching every city, not just any napolis, not

(01:19:53):
you are really pulling up some girt stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:19:57):
Well, thank you, thank you for the man.

Speaker 7 (01:20:00):
Uh pushing us. I remember when I worked at the
background work, and the man said, and now after King passed,
he said, we got that in last night. M and

(01:20:22):
I felt bad because Martin Luther King did a lot
for us. Just Tijia is doing that. We have to
keep us going.

Speaker 2 (01:20:35):
Yeah, I agree, brother man, I agree.

Speaker 7 (01:20:38):
Yeah, but you're not doing on the streach. You got
that man over Fega's treat with the church. He's Morgan's

Black people are killing each.

Speaker 4 (01:20:56):
Other for what.

Speaker 27 (01:20:58):
You ain't got that.

Speaker 7 (01:21:01):
Why you want to kill me?

Speaker 2 (01:21:04):

Go ahead, Good afternoon, Good afternoon.

Speaker 4 (01:21:25):
I want to come in.

Speaker 2 (01:21:29):
Okay, mister Russell, we're losing you. Can you move or
you want to call us back? We don't have a
very good connection.

Speaker 7 (01:21:42):
No, we.

Speaker 2 (01:21:50):
Still real choppy.

Speaker 8 (01:21:53):
Does he have his radio on?

Speaker 4 (01:21:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:21:56):
Do you have your radio on? Mister Russell? Yeah, let
me turn that well that that that would that would
cause feedback. But okay, go ahead, man, Yes, that's better,
go ahead.

Speaker 4 (01:22:07):
Okay, Yeah, I just wanted to say a couple of things.

Speaker 2 (01:22:11):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:22:12):
Number one, Uh, when it comes to the Republican Party,
I think I have to say that they're split in
the Republican but different camps. For instance, Daniels has come
out against redistricting for Indiana, and I was with I

(01:22:36):
would stay with more like the Richard Republican Party. I
think that there's a dirt between that faction and uh,
what I call the Trumpers, and I think that this

(01:22:57):
might be a strategy to try to collaborate with the
so to speak.

Speaker 2 (01:23:06):
Okay, you're still having a hard time hearing you.

Speaker 8 (01:23:09):
Uh, I tend to let me say this. I don't
give a lot of applause to Mitch Daniels. Mitch Daniels
is the reasons why we only have two congressional districts
here in the state of Indiana. Mitch Daniels wanted asked
me the American Federation of Government Employees to endorse him

(01:23:29):
when he ran for governor. We did a poll around
the state to our members and they said no. I
remember my boss, Larry Scanlon, director of Politics, and Legislation
at the International Union in Washington, called Steve Fantasia, who
was the head person here for our union in Indianapolis,

(01:23:52):
and myself and said, meet me at the Governor's office, No,
at the governor's office, and we did. We went down
there and told him that our members did not want
to endorse him. On the day that he listened. On
the day that he became governor, he came in from

(01:24:15):
Butler University in the office because he had called all
the labor leaders together, and he came in and tore
up the executive order that Evan By and Frank o'bonnen
had signed, and he said, now there goes your union.
He went around the country and raised money for Republicans,

(01:24:35):
given each one who was running for the House fifteen
thousand dollars to run against anybody who was running as
a Democrat. And you remember the PLP money you used
to get for your license plates. You could put your
name on your license.

Speaker 1 (01:24:49):
Plate, you remember that.

Speaker 8 (01:24:50):
Yeah, he abolished that. Now that money was given equally
to Republicans and Democrats in the state. He abolished that,
and Democrats had no money to help get our candidates elected.
So you know, to heck with Mitch Daniels and his
religion that he finally found. I listened to him when

(01:25:12):
he was saying that, you know, redistricting is bad. But
he was the one that orchestrated a plan for Republicans
to take control of the Indiana House of Representatives. At
one time during my lobbying days there, the House was
fifty fifty Republicans, fifty Republicans fifty Democrats, and we were

(01:25:33):
able to get some things done. However, there were Republicans
in both the Manueila and Senator Garden who was somewhat
amenable to state employees around our state, and there are
well I don't even like going into the State House.
I did go down there this year one night when

(01:25:57):
Elder Rush had called for people to come to the
State House and talk to Braun about getting rid of
DEEI and not giving a contribution may not uh supporting
an appropriation to Martin University. So but we still have
to get out and vote, and we have to vote

(01:26:17):
in numbers that will make significant different difference. And I
tell you one thing we don't do, uh, we don't
call our elected officials and let them know where we stand.
You know, Cherry Fry and Robin Shack of Greg Porter
and oh god, I can't think of my state senators,

(01:26:39):
Greg Dealer. We need to talk to them and let
them know we support them and what can we do
to keep them in office because if this redistrict can
take place on the congressional level, yeah, don't have some
effect on House and Senate states in the state. Yea,
we will have anybody there to support us. You know,

(01:27:02):
it's one thing about our our state representations. I give
them credit when they author when they sponsor bills. It
not only helps our community, but it helps uh members
of citizens around the state who are in the same
condition that we're in.

Speaker 4 (01:27:20):
And I don't disagree. The point I'm trying to make is,
you know you're a great in politics, get a little permanent.

Speaker 2 (01:27:34):
You're really going out now, mister Russell, Hello, Hello.

Speaker 4 (01:27:40):
Can you hear me now? Yes, okay, I think we
have in politics no friends nor permanent enemies, and strategy
in in some strategy. What what I think I'm not
disagreeing with with your characterization. But what I'm saying is

(01:28:01):
that Tims, when you see an opening which there is
seems to be a split in the Republican Party, and
I think we need to take advantage and split. If
you if you see what I'm.

Speaker 8 (01:28:13):
Saying, kids, I do understand what you're saying.

Speaker 4 (01:28:16):
So you know, like the Republicans like uh.

Speaker 7 (01:28:22):
Uh who uh.

Speaker 4 (01:28:27):
Tight uh and uh to try to get the moderates.
You know, my I had relatives in my family that
were Republicans that just me with Ronald Reagan up and
down the line, but they still were Republicans. So that's
the all thing we need to take advantage we see
in opening like that. The other thing I would like
to say is uh, Tina, I heard that on your

(01:28:52):
sister station w i v C they're now taking text
messages on on the two nine three number of two
three nine number. Is that correct?

Speaker 2 (01:29:05):
I'm not. I'm not even sure what you're talking about.

Speaker 4 (01:29:09):
They heard that they're taking text messages at the w
I w C and their main number now as well
as phone calls.

Speaker 2 (01:29:20):
I Cameron, are you aware of anything like that?

Speaker 33 (01:29:24):
No, I have not heard anything about that yet.

Speaker 5 (01:29:27):
That might be a thing they may be trying out,
but it hasn't reached my desk.

Speaker 2 (01:29:31):
No, nor mine nor mine wouldn't.

Speaker 8 (01:29:34):
They're starting to do that, I know, that I listen
to SPAN in the morning. Sea Span now takes telephone
calls and text some messages from the citizens around the country,
So uh, it might be something that radio one will
be considering. Jean, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:29:53):
Yeah, it could be. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:29:56):
The other thing I'm gonna like to say. The other
thing I would like to say is kind and more
seems to be more.

Speaker 2 (01:30:11):
Sorry, And mister Russell, it's just not going to happen
to I'm sorry, You're just I don't know what. You
can hang up and call back if you like, and
in fact, why don't you do that and we'll take
a real quick commercial break and we'll come back because
I want you to get your point across. But it's simply,
you know, we can't. We can't really make it out.

FM, and we are back with community connection. We make
sure I have my sounder. There we go, There we go. Right,
headphones are being a little tricky to could you know
what miss Cordelia and mister Russell, I guess it's technology.
Throughout the day the afternoon, the Grimlins are coming after us.
But mister Russell, you were making a point for Miss
Cordelia before we ask you to call back, and it

(01:38:15):
sounds like we've got a good connection now, so go ahead.

Speaker 4 (01:38:19):
Yes, can you hear me a little better?

Speaker 2 (01:38:21):
Yes, yes, yes, absolutely yes.

Speaker 4 (01:38:23):
So the point, the point I was trying to make
is that there are considerable people in the Republican persuasion
that are not happy with the activities of the current administration,
and I think that that we are to take advantage

(01:38:45):
of that. For instance, the Morning Show from nine to
twelve on w IBC, I think it's Kindle and Casey.
He seemed to be more balanced and more fair in
terms of reporting on what's happened to whatever it's people
to check it out and see what they think along
those lines. And also I think that, as I was saying,

(01:39:09):
when it comes to redistricting, in Indiana and around the country. Obviously,
that's a power play, and I think that we need
to scrutinize that and support the efforts not to do
it in Indiana, particularly with our current legislature and governor.

(01:39:30):
I think that they seem to be following in the
Trump tradition, but they don't have to if enough people
voice their complaints.

Speaker 2 (01:39:41):
Okay, what do you think, miss would you?

Speaker 8 (01:39:44):
I don't know. I think many times, and I thank
him for his participation on the call today, but it
will take people calling from all over the state to
ask that Indiana does not falling distrap of redistricting that

(01:40:09):
Donald Trump has proposed Republican states to do. However, I
will not be calling asking the governor uh anything uh,
because I will do all that I can to call

(01:40:30):
uh state representatives, even the Republicans around the state, asking
them not to support redistricting, even if I have to
lie and say I'm one of their constituents. You know,
I don't. I don't mind lying two things, okay, and
I feel like the Lord will forgive me.

Speaker 2 (01:40:49):
Okay, he knows what's that? We always say, he knows
my heart.

Speaker 8 (01:40:54):
I call uh uh someone in Congress, they ask me am,
and I am I a constituent, and I indicate I am,
Otherwise I would not be calling you. You know, I
can convince them of the to vote the way i'm
I'm calling to ask them to vote. When I was

(01:41:17):
the lobbyist and when I worked was still working, my
director from Washington always made sure that we went to
Republican offices on the Hill to talk to those who
have been elected in the state of Indiana to so
I have no problem. I can talk to anybody and

(01:41:38):
am willing to. But I will not waste my time
with Braun because I don't think there's any way I
can convince him to do anything that's right. He will
do everything that Donald Trump wants.

Speaker 2 (01:41:51):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely, let's go. Let's go back to line one.
We have a caller online one. Go ahead, Hi, Keina Hello, yes, yes,
go ahead.

Speaker 4 (01:42:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:42:04):
Uh.

Speaker 27 (01:42:05):
It's a simple question with President Trump. Weren't you only
allowed two terms in office? So what's the problem He
can't he can't stay nothing but to Joe.

Speaker 8 (01:42:18):
Miss Cordelia, yes, constitutionally yes, but what has this man
done that uh? Uh makes us think he believes in
the constitution. He's trying to get rid of it and
make it uh an instrument for him to become a dictator.

(01:42:40):
I you know, I just and he's got people in place,
uh in the in in his administration who go who
will go along with him. And let me say this,
how many Republicans across the country, UH, even those not
in the other the US Congress, who are all bowing

(01:43:05):
down to him, they're afraid of him because they're afraid
that many of their constituents would not vote for them,
or that they will put up a primary opposition to them.
So they're not saying anything. You know, I don't think
we have any power in this Republican Congress, especially with
the with the Speaker of the House, who controls what

(01:43:28):
legislation is put before the Congress. So you know, we're
going to have to listen to like our minister who
was on the uh uh air early on, who came
here and I believe in I also believe in action,
and we're gonna have to make sure that we and

(01:43:52):
Kurt voter registration and getting out to vote. I was
at CTVS the other night. I went down to get
acription and there were like three young men behind me
in line, and for some reason, one of them knew men,
said Hi, I'm missus greg Hey. You are you to
work in the elections? And I said, every chance I get, so,

(01:44:13):
I said to one young man, and he had said
something to me, and I said, sir, are you registered
to vote? No, I don't believe in that. Blah blah
blah blah blah. And I said, well, you know I
have worked and I opened up Bill Clinton's office down
here on Illinois. Well you get to Michigan Street, I said,
I've worked in Biden's campaign. And I said and President Obama.

(01:44:38):
I thought that would move him. I know I don't
believe in that. And he asked me a question. I said, well,
thank you very much for talking to me. I said,
I've learned not to waste my time on people who
don't believe in voting. I said, because you know, many
of our ancestors died for our right to vote, and
I am grateful for the nineteen sixty h three legislation

(01:45:02):
that President Johnson's signed for all of us to have
the right to vote. And one of the young men
behind him was shaking his hands, as you approved me
to discontinue my conversation because I wasn't able to convince
him of anything. And that is unfortunate because this man
has gone after our community in ways that we never

(01:45:28):
thought could happen again.

Speaker 2 (01:45:30):
Yeah, and Ms Cordelia the and thank you for your call.
But you said the operative word. He has people in
place who are just as willing to be just as
corrupt and just as lawless as he is. And so
there's no you it's going to be really hard to
find the truth office. Yeah, to get him out of

(01:45:50):
that office, because if you know, he'll put things in
place to let him stay forever or let others stay.
And I you know what I really when you said
you I think mister Russell was saying that they are
Republicans behind this. I don't want to hear that because
you're not standing up. I don't care what you say
behind the scenes. It doesn't count. It doesn't matter because
you might be saying something, but you're doing something else.

(01:46:13):
So what's the point of that. I mean, I don't
even understand why people even say that, because well, they're
Republicans behind the scenes and you know, behind closed doors
and blah blah, So what are the you know, what's
the action? What are they doing? Nothing.

Speaker 8 (01:46:26):
I must say this. You know, there are people in
our state, around the state who don't even have the
ability to have cable because there is no mechanism that
has been put in place for that. Joe Biden when

(01:46:48):
he was in the White House, he appropriate, he asked
the Congress to appropriate funding for broad band instruments to
be in the it's not urban and suburban. What is
the I can't think of the rule the whole area.

(01:47:11):
In rural areas, that money was kept and it was
not even passed on because when the Congress of post
it's my first state, it goes to the state and
sometimes it never gets to those elected officials. And these
people still don't have the opportunity to have broadband in

(01:47:35):
their living areas. You know, I look at jobs have
left places like Anderson and Muncie. Hospitals are closing in
the rural areas. And when this Medicaid cut comes in,
not in twenty twenty five, because they waited for it

(01:47:56):
to be they wrote for it and acted in twenty
twenty nine. No, I think I'm not thinking right right now,
but it will affect next from these rural areas have
always been voting and that's not always, because I remember
when we were able to elect even Republicans who supported

(01:48:22):
appropriations for people in rural areas. But right now there's Trump,
and I'm going to give someone credit that you have
probably have never heard of other than Tina. I'm sure
you have Senator Karen Karen Calion, who is now chair
of the Indiana State Democratic Party. She is a group

(01:48:46):
going into the rural communities to let them know what
is happening in that big beautiful Meg and Holly by
that we can suppay we will persuade some of the
members of the rural communities to vote for Democratic candidates. Now,

(01:49:08):
we were able to get that done in Hamilton County.
I remember when Hamilton County was strictly Republican, but Barackmer
was able to carry Hamilton County and was able to
carry state of President of the United States. But we
have to keep talking. I'm like our previous caller. We
have to talk to those that we know who will

(01:49:32):
list and take their own situation in concern and vote
for a deer Democrat. I don't you know, I am
not aware of the number of intendents in the state
of Indiana, but you know, we have a great number

(01:49:53):
of African Americans and women that the great beautiful Buil
is excluding. And maybe you know, through the leg of
Women Voters. I got a letter from the League of
Women Voters asking me to rejoin their effort. And I
have enough money for all of the publications that I'm

(01:50:16):
getting to support. But maybe through the leg of Women
Voters and some other organizations that people will open their eyes.
And as I indicated, I learned when I was interned
with the A. Philip Randolph Institute. I remember a story
that was told by Bill Pollard, who was the director

(01:50:37):
of Civil Rights for the National NFLCO. He said, this
woman came down the street and she was selling popish puppies,
puppies for sale, puppies for sale, ten dollars, puppies for sale,
and nobody was mine. Came down one day and she
said puppies for sale, puppies source of sale, and the

(01:50:58):
price had went up. So she asked why. She said,
their eyes are open and they're worth more now. So
we need, yeah remember open our eyes and listen and
read and share the information that we have. I am
a person that believes and information is not valuable unless

(01:51:21):
it is shared. There you go That is why I
come on Tita's show anytime. I haven't been done because
I'm still are also.

Speaker 2 (01:51:32):
My son, Well, we're still in prayer for you, regardless.

Speaker 8 (01:51:38):
Of you know, I'm gonna stand with the visitors sign
when they come to the church and to the funeral home.
And the funeral home had to have three books because
so many people came in to sign the book because
my son was very love you know, if he played

(01:51:59):
for Tech High School almost got them to the state
I opened up my Bible the other day and there
was a letter from David's Tech High School coach who
had written this letter to me, and from the letter
I must have written to him, and I recall that

(01:52:21):
I had said to the coach that basketball was a
way to keep a lot of our young people out
of troubling. And he indicated that David and Butch Morgan,
who played for k had came to him with tears
in their eyes apologizing for not giving him the state title.

Speaker 7 (01:52:44):
Ah.

Speaker 8 (01:52:45):
He wrote me a two page letter about Butch and
mostly about David. But I think everybody who came to
pay their respects to my son. He was loved by many.

Speaker 2 (01:52:57):
People, absolutely, and you love by many people, Miss Cordelia.
That's why we love having you on and we will
call you back again. But I think the theme for
today is just keep the faith, you know, keep it moving,
you know, but you gotta move. You can't sit still.
You gotta move. You gotta get them to do something.

Speaker 8 (01:53:12):
So yeah, that's right. And you remember what John Lewis said,
what did when you see it, say something? Yes, And
I'm saying, we're seeing this so we must do something.
We can not allow this man to take over our country.
You know, when I see what he's doing to Ukraine,
supporting the Russians rather than helping those four people in Ukraine.

(01:53:36):
This is a man that we cannot follow us risk
of our lives.

Speaker 2 (01:53:40):
No, not at all. We're gonna get it done though,
Miss Cordelia. I have faith that we will. I think
we will. I think we will, Miss Cordelia. Thank you
so much. That's all the time we have for right now.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. I want everyone
to stay safe, stay well, and of course by all
means stay in for him. Billymore Junior on the radio
is up next. I'm Tina kas until next week on Monday.

(01:54:02):
This is community connection

Speaker 10 (01:54:05):
