Speaker 1 (00:00):
Always here for whenever we need her. So Regina Cynthia Wilson, welcome,
welcome back to the show.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
How are you both doing.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
I'm good?

Speaker 4 (00:09):
Are you too?

Speaker 2 (00:11):
I think?

Speaker 1 (00:12):
Okay, we're doing okay.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
So tell you know.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
My understanding is, it seems like we just started first
started telling you all at tell not you all listeners,
telling listeners about just a phenomenal community outreach that the
kitchen Country Kitchen was offering, be that being free meals
on Christmas Day, all day on Christmas Day for the
most part. And my understanding is this is a fifteenth

(00:38):
year in a row, the fifteenth year that the Country
Kitchen has been doing this.

Speaker 5 (00:43):
So Tina actually is seventeen, but fifteen on the books
because of COVID so hard seventeen years ago.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Yeah, yeah, seventeen, my goodness.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
So for those who may not know and may not
be aware, because sometimes we just jump right into things
expecting people to know what we're talking about, give us
a rundown of what we are talking about.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
The dinner on Christmas Day.

Speaker 5 (01:09):
So this is a dinner that my husband and I, Isaac,
we thought years ago that we wanted to do something
for the community because the community has always stood with us,
stood by us, and through thick and thin, they've always
been with us. And so this was our way of
giving back to the community and it was something that

(01:31):
was rested on our heart. God just told us this
is something that you need to do. And it's been
seventeen years now.

Speaker 6 (01:39):
Regina came on board year one.

Speaker 5 (01:41):
And she's been there helping us every since. But it's
become a tradition, and we also have partners that have
been with us. US Food has helped us, Passion carry
Taylor's Bakery. Now even Toys for Tots is along beside us,
where we're not only providing a warm hot meal, a

(02:01):
good hot meal, but we're giving.

Speaker 7 (02:03):
Toys to the kids.

Speaker 5 (02:04):
Oh wow, yeah, hats, gloves and warm essentials to people
who don't have those items either.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Wow. Is this the first year for the toys that
go along with the meal?

Speaker 6 (02:17):
No toys for Tots.

Speaker 5 (02:18):
I think they've partnered with us for probably about six years. M.

Speaker 6 (02:25):
Yes, they have been with us about six years.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Hello, go Aheadry James.

Speaker 6 (02:31):
I just want to say, I don't think Cynthia and
because her and Isaac are such humble people, is going
to give you all the real real. But I want
you to know that even though we've had these wonderful
partners for years, this is Cynthia and Isaac's give back
for real. They are truly God's focused. They are truly

(02:52):
about their community. They are truly about helping people in need,
and every year out of their own pockets. Not only
do they do the toys and the meals. And we
started with we Cynthia a thousand people. Last year we
did about three thousand. We've had as many as thirty
five hundred families. This is all volunteers. This is all
volunteer driven, but it's all about Cynthia and Isaac's willingness

(03:16):
to come out of their own pockets as is the
community feeds into them and give back to our community.
And so it was very easy for me and my
daughter to decide this is what we're going to do
every Christmas because we knew the passion that they put
behind that every day to make sure every Christmas, to
make sure people have a hot meal. We were just
talking about the fact that we might not have enough drivers.

(03:38):
It's always our issue every year, and they're like.

Speaker 4 (03:41):
Well, we're going to drive, you know, We're gonna op
at our cru and we're going to deliver meals.

Speaker 6 (03:46):
So it's not even just if the people can't come
and help, then they're going to help. We're not going
to not feed people because we don't have enough volunteers.
So I just wanted to kind of tutor Horn a
little bit more. Yeah, she truly has been passionate, her
and her husband about making sure that people are fed
on Christmas.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
And you know, folks who are super super givers are
typically humble like that. How many, Regina maybe you can estimate,
but over the past fifteen slash seventeen.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Years, approximately how many folks in.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Our community have been blessed by this Christmas Day outreach
Christmas Day Meals?

Speaker 6 (04:25):
I would say anywhere between over the years, anywhere between
thirty thousand and forty thousand people have been read every
throughout the time. So we're talking about, you know, a
lot of meals that go out and we understand that
if you show up and you say you want meal,
there's no questions asked. You know, you can have up
to five meals. Some people take one meal, some people

(04:46):
take five meals, so we don't limit it. And now
a few years ago we started delivery meals, so you
can call in, you can tell us how many meals
you want and we'll deliver it. Where we do have
a big passion of volunteer as that Cynthia might be
able to talk a little bit about. They like to
deliver to group homes, homeless shelters. We even got a

(05:06):
group of guys who always go under the bridges and
find the homeless brothers and uses.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
That are out.

Speaker 6 (05:11):
Here in the street and they want them to have
a hot meal in that day. So we've delivered to
the juvenile center, we've delivered to and we've actually yeah,
and we've actually given out meals on the street for folks.
Go ahead, Cynthia, I'm sorry.

Speaker 5 (05:28):
Yeah, the juvenile center has already called me and put
their order in place, so they're on the list to
get meals.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (05:37):
Yeah, And as the Regina was saying, some of the
shelters called, we've had churches call. We go to the
women's shelters, the men's shelters. We we'll go anywhere where
the need is. And as Regina was saying, also we
go under the bridges. We have volunteers to say no, no, no, no, no,
I don't want to go to the houses. I want
to go where the people are, the bridges. We want

(05:59):
to go to those people and let them know.

Speaker 6 (06:01):
That they have a helping hand out here also. And
as a matter of fact, you know we have.

Speaker 5 (06:08):
And I'm sure he won't be upset that I call
his name Tony Dungee's brother in law.

Speaker 6 (06:12):
He his name is Wes.

Speaker 5 (06:14):
He and Lauren come every year with their daughters, and
that's his passion. His passion is to go to the streets.
He goes to the streets to the people and feed
those people.

Speaker 6 (06:27):
And you know, it was so humbling.

Speaker 5 (06:29):
One year he came back and he was, you know,
pretty devastated. He had a guy that was under the
bridge and he didn't have shoes. He went to his house,
he said, says, he, I'm going home to get him
some clothes and shoes and to take back to him. So,
you know, I mean, it's just a great community outreach
that we're trying to let everyone have a warm.

Speaker 6 (06:51):
Nourishing meal.

Speaker 5 (06:53):
And as I said, this year, we didn't We've never
given coats out before in previous years, but it got
pretty nippy over the past few weeks. So I called
a bender and we ordered coats for people too.

Speaker 6 (07:05):
So those people, you.

Speaker 5 (07:06):
Know, we have a limited number, but for those who
need coats, we have coats.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
For for our people also.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Cincia, When did the whole nine yards?

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Cincia?

Speaker 1 (07:20):
When did you and your your husband Isaac decide this
is what we're gonna do. You know, this is what
I've been thinking. But now we're gonna, you know, put it,
put it to work. We're gonna put it up and
on his feet. We're going to do this. And and
what what led to it?

Speaker 2 (07:34):
I mean, was it one person? Was it a situation?
Was you know what put it on your heart to
do that?

Speaker 5 (07:41):
You know? Really we had thought about it for many
years and one year I was sick. The next year
we didn't have enough funding, and it was like, seriously.

Speaker 6 (07:51):
I tell you it was it was.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
A voice and God told me.

Speaker 5 (07:56):
He said, I don't care how you do it. He said,
I want you to do it. And so I went
to my husband and I told him. I said, hey,
I said we have to get.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
This done, no matter when.

Speaker 5 (08:05):
And he said, okay, so when are we going to
do this?

Speaker 2 (08:08):
I said, Well, the voice that I.

Speaker 6 (08:09):
Heard said do it. Christmas Day?

Speaker 8 (08:11):
My husband said, are you sure.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
You heard that voice.

Speaker 7 (08:14):
I said, yeah, yeah, Christmas Day.

Speaker 5 (08:17):
So we have sacrificed, along with Regina and other volunteers
our Christmas Day for as I said, has been on
the books for seventeen years.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
How many people do you have in the kitchen cooking
because you got a lot of orders to fill this
this is amazing.

Speaker 5 (08:34):
Yeah, I I you know this year we're giving we're
giving chicken. Turkey has gone up so expensive that we we've.

Speaker 6 (08:41):
Gone away from turkey.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Makes sense.

Speaker 6 (08:43):
I was thinking.

Speaker 5 (08:44):
I was thinking, I said, you know what, we have
over nine thousand pieces of chicken to fry.

Speaker 6 (08:51):
And so with the volunteer, yeah.

Speaker 5 (08:54):
With the volunteers, we have some people that have restaurants
that come in and help us. We have people that
work in restare wants to come in and help us.
So there's a revolving door in the kitchen just to
get all these meals made. And as Regina said, our
biggest shortfall is drivers. We need people to help deliver

(09:15):
the food and we're delivering to the handicap we're delivering
to homes, we're delivering to the streets, so those people
can't come to get the food. So it's very important
for us to have vehicles to get the food to them.
So that is our biggest need and ask right now.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
So James, I'm sure you feel free to jump in here.
This is I don't know, it's hard to get your
head around because.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
It's so massive. It's huge.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
It's just in all the different areas. Like you say,
people don't have to cut that you delivered to Yeah, yeah,
different different facilities and things of that nature. Go ahead,
So this year the menu is in James, I'm sorry
I told you to go ahead and then ask another question.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
But it the menu is fried chicken and all the fixings.
Is that what the menu is?

Speaker 5 (10:03):
Yeah, fried chicken, the fixings. We also give deserve. Our
beverage company, Pepsi has come on board and we're gonna
give a beverage also, so then we'll get a complete meal.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
I've had contrycation fried chicken meals before.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
Swift is shaking his head too, So Merry Christmas. You're
all gonna love it. Whoever gets that, they're gonna love
But anyway, James, go ahead.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
Yeah, hey, yeah, this is great. Miss Cynthia. I have
a question for you regarding the people you serve, ma'am
and thank you for what you and mister Isaac are doing,
and Miss Regina and the others that you mentioned to
help you. But let me ask you this, what what
type of clientele do you serve? Is it you talked

(10:55):
about the people under the bridges, the poor, the is
it the people in your neighborhood? Do people come from
far and wide? What if you had to describe the
the the type of people that you serve during this
uh country kitchen Christmas dinner dinner event, what would you say?

Speaker 5 (11:20):
God, see, it's the demographics. Well, you know what, we
served everyone we have.

Speaker 6 (11:27):
We go out as far as I.

Speaker 5 (11:29):
Think, Regina and you can help me too. We've been
to Avon before, we've even we've even last year we
had an address that was in Carmel.

Speaker 6 (11:38):
So, uh, of course we do the we do the neighborhood.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
We do.

Speaker 5 (11:43):
It's we're far reaching and we don't turn down anyone.
So if you come to us, or if you call
and you say that you need a meal, then we're
going to take the meal wherever it is needed. So
it's a it's a large demographic. We can't say that
it's just one select group of equal we serve and
we will give to anyone.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
Yeah, yeah, and.

Speaker 6 (12:05):
No you don't ask those questions. We don't ask any
questions about your financial situation. You know, Cynthia and Isaac
are very much. They are Isaac fifty eight and seven,
Matthew twenty five, James two fifteen in Mark six thirty.
So they live by that daily. So there can't be

(12:25):
a hot what economic white black for a rich We
don't care. All we need to do is give us
where you live. You've got an apartment, neverber and what's
the cross streets?

Speaker 4 (12:33):
And that's what you want.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
And you know what, that's important for situations like this
because you know sometimes during certain distributions people have to register.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
You know, sometimes there's.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
A process, and what you all are talking about, the
only process is get your food and enjoy, uh you
know and Merry Christmas.

Speaker 4 (12:52):
Yeah, yeah, you know you need drivers. Do you serve?
Do you serve most people who walk in or is
it mostly you take a meal?

Speaker 6 (13:03):
Well it's kind of fifteen fifty right now because we
sometimes we don't have enough drivers. But like I said,
someone will hop in a car and get a meal.
So I would say fifty to fifty are there are
years what I found in Cynthia might attested is some
years it's more walk in, some years more drop offs.
It just depends on the year. So this year we're

(13:23):
trying to focus to make sure we have both. We're
also trying to make sure that what happens is we
get a lot of people that want to volunteer and
they don't want to stop. So we'll have seventy five
volunteers show up and sometimes it's hard to have all said,
and some might not want to drive, so it's sometimes
it's hard to move them around and get them out
of serving or frying chicken or making the meals because

(13:44):
they're so filled by being a part of this day
and taking care of people. So even if we've got
volunteers that we've got to beg them, Okay, stop frying
chicken for a minute so I can get another volunteer
in space because they get singing. People like Andrea and Neely.
She's been there every year with us, Burn Brown from

(14:07):
Warren Township every year, every dreat.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
Every year.

Speaker 6 (14:10):
You know people I have spent every Christmas other than
COVID with them every Christmas for the last seventeen years.

Speaker 4 (14:17):
Yeah, Miss Cynthia, what would you say about the need,
Miss Cynthia, the need. You own a very historic restaurant,
their Country Kitchen. What would you say about the need
for food in the community during this time and day.

Speaker 5 (14:32):
But you know, it's well known that the economy's bad.

Speaker 6 (14:37):
People have been laid off their jobs.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
We had a government.

Speaker 6 (14:41):
Shut down for a long time.

Speaker 5 (14:42):
So, as Regina said, we're not looking at demographics are
who the person is?

Speaker 6 (14:48):
We just know the need is there.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
The need has got to be there.

Speaker 9 (14:53):
You know what was it.

Speaker 5 (14:54):
Snap was cut off for a while. People were spending
money on food when they couldn't do other things, and
so you know, the need is definitely there. The economy
is so bad right now, I'm thinking that this will
be a year that we run out of food early,
and I'm praying that we do, because we do want

(15:15):
to serve everyone.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
Is it a situation where every year you run out
of food or is it a situation where you operate
until the food is gone?

Speaker 5 (15:27):
Well, you know, we don't want to be selfish to
the volunteers, so at a certain point we stop. I
think the longest that we have gone is till maybe
four o'clock, and that's because we're down here cleaning up,
and then people are still coming and of.

Speaker 6 (15:41):
Course we're not going to turn them away.

Speaker 5 (15:43):
But I think one year and I can't remember the
year we were out of food within like four hours.

Speaker 4 (15:50):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
Yeah, and the time the time is from what ten
am until three?

Speaker 2 (15:54):
Is that correct?

Speaker 4 (15:56):
Well?

Speaker 6 (15:56):
We started volunteers started as early as six am. They're
in there at six am starting to prepare food. We
don't start, we don't start serving food to the public
till nine, and then we start delivering by ten o'clock
and we go as long as we can. The goal
right now would be to two o'clock. Hopefully we'll be

(16:17):
able to get everybody in by two, but like I said,
that's if we didn't have enough drivers. If it got
where we still had meals to deliver afterwards, we would,
but we are trying to get as many drivers as
we can so we can finish with the delivery at
two and start to wind down because there's so many
parts of you know, cleaning this restaurant back up and
getting it ready for business the next day, because we

(16:39):
need to get you know, everything together, and so we
really tried to have some time to help Cynthia Brake
tables down, and we have the blessing of her new
center nine ten, the new event center. That also gives
us more space now to do more of this because
before we were literally just in the restaurant. So now
people don't have to stand outside long.

Speaker 4 (17:00):
We can move them through the building.

Speaker 6 (17:02):
There's restaurants, restrooms, and it's just been a godsend and
and I think it goes back to their faith of growth.
You know what I mean, if you give out, you
got enough love, God will.

Speaker 4 (17:11):
Bless you where you need to be blessed.

Speaker 6 (17:13):
And so we want to.

Speaker 4 (17:14):
Keep doing that.

Speaker 6 (17:15):
But let me say this right here, a couple of
things and I let's Cynthia goo. Is that we're always
feel in need of donation. We're always steal in need
of donations. You can contact Cynthia Cynthia at the Country
Kitchen or if you know me, I'm three one seven
four one four nine five five four. So we need donations.
We also need volunteers, and you can also call me
at that number or text me at that number and

(17:37):
I'll send you the link to sign up. All drivers
must have insurance, they must have driver's license.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
I was about to ask about thee the liability regarding
the driving, So there is if you are going to
volunteer to drive, you do have to present proof of insurance.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
Greg.

Speaker 6 (17:54):
Yes, we make sure that they We asked them do
they have insurance. We also ask them to have driver's license.
They awful find a waiver in that time, so if
they want to drive, I will send them the link.
They can sign the waiver and let us know what
time they would like to be available on their day.
Same thing with other volunteers that we just like to
work on site. We also need volunteers for that as well,

(18:15):
and they can follow the same process. There's a flyer.
I'll make sure I know Swift has it. I'll make
sure you have it and maybe Swift can get it
on the website if people want to hit the QR
code and be able to sign up for that event.
And then the donations piece, Cynthia is always available at
Country Kitchen if people would like to place a donation.
We have people that we have people come get meals

(18:38):
and make donations. Oh wow, yeah, we have a lot
of people pick up meals and give us. From a
dollar two, I've gotten as much as fifty dollars.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
Wow.

Speaker 6 (18:49):
Where people are like come here, honey, let me give
this to you and we give it to Cynthia. We've
had people when they come and they said, I really
needed this meal, and I had this, I still want
to donate. Or people who gotten meals have come back.

Speaker 4 (19:02):
And donated the next year.

Speaker 6 (19:03):
I mean, come back and you and you know what,
just a quick story. There's so many people in this
city with a big heart.

Speaker 5 (19:12):
I had an event, an event that occurred about three
weeks ago, and my guest, she requested that her guests,
instead of giving her gifts, give donate money to this cause.
And believe it or not, they donated.

Speaker 6 (19:31):
Right, they donated to us.

Speaker 2 (19:32):
Write it five thousand dollars. Wow, wow, yes, yes, yes.

Speaker 5 (19:39):
So there's a lot of people in this community with
very big hearts, very big hearts.

Speaker 6 (19:45):
And as I said, we truly.

Speaker 5 (19:47):
Appreciate the volunteers.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
Of people who are donating.

Speaker 5 (19:53):
We appreciate everybody even I mean, we appreciate everybody. So
if you're in need of a meal, if you you
want to volunteer, if you want to don't donate, all
of that also is on our website.

Speaker 6 (20:05):
Country Kitchen Indie dot.

Speaker 5 (20:07):
Com and just go to events and there will be
a flyer for a registration for donating, there'll be something
for volunteering, and there will also be something for you
to sign up for a meal.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
A country kitchen spelled with two k's, and once again
we just took off and started talking like everybody knows
where the country kitchen is.

Speaker 2 (20:29):
So if yeah, Cynthia or Regina, if you'd like.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
To give the address, the hours and you know the
requirements for all of this, can you can you give
it to our listeners before we have to let you
go go.

Speaker 10 (20:40):
Ahead, Regina, you go ahead, And because you have to
give that fall membership addresses eighteen thirty one North College Avenue,
eighteen thirty one North College Avenue, and if you want
to call in that day for a meal, you can
call three one seven six.

Speaker 5 (21:00):
Three five six thousand, three six three five six thousand.

Speaker 1 (21:07):
And so the hours that the distribution will be underway
for the public.

Speaker 6 (21:11):
Are nine am till nine pm, nine.

Speaker 2 (21:16):
Am until two.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
Yes, and if you'd like to volunteer, you call that
same number three one seven six three five six thousand.
That number will also take care of volunteers.

Speaker 4 (21:29):
Yes, ma'am.

Speaker 2 (21:30):
And your biggest.

Speaker 1 (21:31):
Need right now in addition to donations, of course, is
volunteer drivers. And if you would like to volunteer to
be a driver, you will need proof of insurance. Other
than that, I guess, just a car that goes forward
or a vehicle that goes forward.

Speaker 6 (21:47):
Yes, manu sub as long as it works. And ask
for children. If you would like to bring your child,
you can as another adult, but we do not do
children under sixteen alone.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
To volunteer, okay, to volunteer.

Speaker 6 (22:02):
Family affair, Yeah, make it a family affair. Show your
family how giving, what giving back looks like. Bring your
family out on Christmas Day.

Speaker 1 (22:10):
Well, thank you so much for keeping this wonderful, wonderful
Christmas Day tradition going in our community. The Country Kitchen
has always been big and continues to do so, so
thank you. Thank you, Regina. Regina, you're always here for us.
I tell you may be a couple hours away, but
you're always here for us. So we appreciate you as well.
All right, thank you, Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas to you both,

(22:36):
and thanks for all you do. We really appreciate you.
All right, thank you, thank you. We'll be back with
more community connection after this and we're back with community connection.

(23:10):
James James Patterson, of course, are contributing analysts with us.
It almost sounds, you know what, it almost sounds too
good to be true. I tell you what, Hot Delicious
delivered to your door Christmas Day meal from the Country
Kitchen just for the asking.

Speaker 2 (23:29):
Unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (23:30):
Yeah, what you know, we talk about the grint who
stold Christmas that movie's on. I mean, what an angel
that Country Kitchen is being in this situation, not only
serving their immediate community, but they say farm as far
away as Hamilton County they are delivering Christmas meal. So

(23:51):
I concur with you. This is an act of extreme,
supreme benevolence by the Country Kitchen staff and their volunteers
and supporters. And I applaud them.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
Yeah, as they should be a plotted I mean, this
is what they do on their Christmas Day and then
get back to the community, and I can't imagine what
it's like to Friday.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
What did she say, nine thousand pieces of chicken? I
like chicken. That's a lot of.

Speaker 4 (24:24):
Yardbird.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
Yeah, that's what my mother used to call it. A yardbird.
But yeah, it just kind of blows your way, you know.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
The generosity, the love that people show around this time
of year, when'd you like to bottle it?

Speaker 4 (24:38):
I mean, yeah, it needs to be. I mean it
needs to be and not to diminish what they're doing,
like what I just said, which is, you know, extremely
honorable and laudable and certainly you know, very gracious of them.
But if we could get the Christmas spirit being perpetuated

(25:01):
by people throughout the year, that will solve a lot
of our problems. And by the way, since you mentioned that,
you know, I mean the crime rate. I think you
had the police Jevan is down like twenty percent homicides
at the time you interviewed him. I think it was
last week or the week before, but whenever, it was
within the past few days. He said that. And I

(25:23):
saw it reported on the news that the one hundred
and fifty eight homicides for Indianapolis at the time a
couple a few days ago. That includes justifiable homicides when
people try to break in people's house and they get
what they deserve. Is a It's a number that has

(25:45):
not been reached in more than ten years, in about
eleven years really, so over a decade. Yeah, So the
outreach groups, the boys clubs, the girl clubs, I don't
know what b Swift is engaged in, but he's probably
engaged in some mentoring. I mean, these programs with these mentorings,
particularly young men, young men of color, especially they at schools, clubs, churches,

(26:12):
anybody who's taken a young person underwing. They are working. Now.
It's taken years, but they're beginning to show fruit.

Speaker 2 (26:20):
It really is.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
And I remember, not too terribly long ago, James, there
was a time when it was huge, I mean absolutely
huge news when the Indianapolis homicide rate.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
Went over one hundred. Yeah, remember that when it went
over one Yes, it.

Speaker 4 (26:35):
Was it was like eighty some all the time, you know,
I like early nineties. I mean that's what it was.
And they just didn't killed one another to the rate
that they started doing. And it culminated in the late
twenty deans in early twenty twenties. But yeah, so it's

(26:58):
starting to recede and we need to keep that up.
And things like this, the Mobilla Sanders Dinner, Country Kitchen
Christmas Giveaway dinner. There's too many numerous to name because
of the Urban League Food Giveaway, Reverend Hunters to give
away a Martin. I mean, these things, if people get

(27:20):
the resources they need. It tends to dampen crime. And
that tells our political leaders that whether you want to
recognize or not, nobody's trying to be a socialist nation
to coddle everybody here. But if you give people the
resources they need, they're more than willing to work to
help themselves, and it helps to keep the crime rate down.

Speaker 1 (27:42):
Yeah, no doubt, because most people want to work. I
don't know too many people that want to just say
I'm not working.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
Now, you know.

Speaker 1 (27:51):
And if there are those folks, then they're mistakenly made
to look like they represent the majority of which they
don't want. People want to take care of themselves.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
James.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
This was on the front front page of the Recorder
this week, and it reminded me that I had not.

Speaker 2 (28:07):
Shared this particular one.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
But the Recorder rights that starting January first, Marion County
residents can receive assistance with paying their heating bills through
the United Way of Central Indiana's UWCI Winter Assistance Fund. Now,
the Recorder goes on to say, this annual program exists
to help those who do not qualify for government energy assistance.

(28:31):
The program is open to those whose income is up
to two hundred and twenty five percent of the federal
poverty level. Gives the example for a one person household,
that's a gross income gross means before taxes and everything
else is hacked out of it, a gross income between
about eight thousand and sixty dollars and eight eight hundred

(28:52):
dollars over the last three months. So if you have grossed,
not netted, but this is what you've grossed over the
last three months in your single household, single person in
the household.

Speaker 4 (29:03):
That's what between eight thousand and what was that in.

Speaker 1 (29:07):
Eight thousand and sixty and eighty eight one hundred and three,
so eight oh six oh and then eight eight oh
three over the past three months.

Speaker 4 (29:16):
The past three months. So that's what you know, Well
what I you know, let's do the math. But it's well,
just my public school math. Eight thousand over three months.
That less than.

Speaker 11 (29:35):
Twenty six area twenty six sixty six, yeah, twenty six months.

Speaker 4 (29:39):
Yeah, So there's I mean, that's with today's prices, rent
going up, energy costs, costs, energy costs, energy costs, uh,
food costs, uh, you know, the whole shebang. Everything is up, up, up,
that's not much money at all.

Speaker 1 (29:57):
Well, I brace it down even further because it's says
for a family of four that's a gross income between
about fifteen four hundred and ninety nine and eighteen thy
eighty four for the last three months. So you know,
I Way Central Indiana encourages people who believe they may
qualify to apply starting January first, and.

Speaker 4 (30:17):
By where do they go?

Speaker 2 (30:19):
Here?

Speaker 1 (30:19):
We go by contacting one of eleven sites listed at
www dot UWCI this United Way of Central Indiana so
UWCI dot org and then forward slash WAF, which stands
for a Winter Assistance Foundation Winter Assistance Fund.

Speaker 4 (30:41):
So they have to go online, yes one to apply.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
Yeah, okay, starting January first, so don't try to go
online now.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
This starts on New Year's Day.

Speaker 1 (30:52):
There are eleven sites listed here accord Again, this is
according to the recorder, because I'm just reading from their
page here.

Speaker 2 (31:02):
UWCI and I we.

Speaker 1 (31:03):
Have Central Indiana dot org slash WAF, which stands for
Winter Assistance Fund. It says the program is going to
run from January first to the end of March or
until the funds run out. For four decades they've operated
this program to help residence with heating bills due to
the significant need in the community. Boy, if it was

(31:25):
significant over the last forty years, I'm telling you it's
going to be.

Speaker 4 (31:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (31:31):
It's reported that more than okay, seventy eight thousand adults
in Marion County are at risk of having their heat
or electricity shut off. That's almost one hundred thousand people. Yeah,
that could be without heat or electricity.

Speaker 12 (31:44):
And with a.

Speaker 4 (31:45):
Brutal call from that that we just came through. Yeah,
you know, that's not playing.

Speaker 2 (31:50):
That is not playing.

Speaker 1 (31:51):
And the article again goes on to say, with utility
costs for Indiana households increasing by twenty one percent from
twenty twenty four to twenty twenty five, Indiana residents can
use this program to bridge the gap during the uptick
and heat usage during the winter months.

Speaker 2 (32:09):
And I mean, you know what, though, James, it seems
like no.

Speaker 1 (32:11):
Matter how hard you try to save on your bill,
your heating bill or what have you, Like they say,
put on, you know, wear warmer clothes, take your temperatures
down to like sixty eight or what have you. It
doesn't change what your bill costs. You see what I'm saying.
Am I the first one to have noticed that? I mean,

(32:32):
we can serve and serve conservai. I've got areas around
my doors sealed up, you know, and push rugs pushed
up there so that no heat gets out and keeps
it even more insulated everything, and it's still the same
amount or more.

Speaker 2 (32:47):
I don't get it. I don't right. Yeah, I'm not
doing Christmas lights the folks.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
Yeah, No, I was just saying I'm not doing I
didn't do Christmas lights.

Speaker 2 (32:57):
I hung up a simple wreath.

Speaker 1 (33:00):
But the people that are down the street from me,
who usually just go all out, he didn't this year.

Speaker 4 (33:06):
Yeah, because it's well, one thing about you know, when
a house gets to be ten twenty years old. I know,
are you know builder or construction person, but I've been
told that you need to start thinking about replacing your
windows because there's going to be seepage and you know,

(33:28):
unless they're totally sealed off, you're going to get some
air in there. But you're right, and I know you
and Eric, I don't know, be swift Field is way
too have said, and you looked it up that all
these data centers that they want to build, one is
in Brightwood, by the way, and those people are upset
over there Rightwood Martindale Brightwood about the data center that

(33:50):
they want to build over there and all these data
centers that they want to build both in rural and
in urban areas to support what it's artificial intelligence AI,
the expansion of AI. I know, you guys, you and
Eric have said that it uh, it is. It's the
these these new data centers consume a huge amount of water,

(34:14):
but unbelievable, but also too, there is an increase in
their electricity. They have to drive those turbines and there
is an increase in their electricity use. But I just think,
I mean, there's articles around that surmise that this cost
is being passed along not only just the increased electricity
use and water moving the water through, but in construction

(34:40):
of these these places in you know, uh in in
their cohoots with the utility companies to build these that
the cost is pre empty, it's being passed along before
time to the consumer. That's kind of a position that.

Speaker 1 (34:57):
Yeah, you're absolutely cor and what there's not a whole
lot to you know, we're stuck, James. They have us
in a monopoly, if you will, there's we have no choice.

Speaker 4 (35:09):
No, we am because there's only I mean there's no
I mean, there's no competition. By what Tinas means by
monopoly is you know the same thing with cable TV.
I mean, there's just a couple of in utilities. There's
just one in your area, and they have the easements
I mean, and nobody can Like, you can't say, well,
I'm gonna put a generator in back of my house
and cut you off. Uh, you know, you still got

(35:32):
you still have certain rules and regulations and cold that
you have to follow before you can even do that.
It's a monopoly where you have to buy from them,
and so they can pretty much set prices as they wish. Now,
Governor Brown says that that's one of his key initiatives
or his key his key goals is to reduce the

(35:58):
utility costs. Woo see.

Speaker 2 (36:02):
Yeah, I don't know if you know that.

Speaker 1 (36:04):
That's real tenuous because all Donald Trump has to do
is place a phone call and say, Governor Brown, don't
reduce your.

Speaker 11 (36:12):
Okay, reduce it because I listen the way he yes
have been changing their prices at the wheel that they
want to when they want to. I can say some things,
but I'm not gonna say it on this here station.
I'm gonna be quiet. But but back to what you
were saying about Martindale and that that data center. Shout
out to wild Style for shell. He posted something late

(36:33):
last night that the clergy of the Martin Dale Bright
Woods People Action Coalition to demand Counselor Gibson to say
no to the data center. And I believe he left.
He left, and yeah, Ron is a good guy. But
they said he got up and left.

Speaker 4 (36:50):
Yes, right, yeah he did. I like go to but
his position is like, you know, it's just gonna it's
is gonna create jobs and it's gonna you know, but
the economy. We don't have very many businesses over there
in martin But but but the damage can you can.
He needs to show that the benefits will outweigh the

(37:11):
damages that a data center in the middle of a
neighborhood that's trying to rebound will get.

Speaker 12 (37:17):
And they can't over there in that area.

Speaker 11 (37:19):
I'm not gonna say what they can or can afford,
but I wouldn't expect to for them for their prices
to go up. I know some people that live over
there that can't have a price increased thanks to this
data center. And we don't know what is going to do?
We already know what AS is doing. Anyway, how much
does this data center increase it? Does it increase it?
A few hundred dollars a year? Like who can?

Speaker 4 (37:38):
Who can withstand that?

Speaker 11 (37:39):
Sometimes?

Speaker 12 (37:40):
You know, yeah, exactly.

Speaker 2 (37:42):
Their water is just the unthinkable amount of water that
these things use.

Speaker 1 (37:46):
Yeah, you know that that part of your utility if
it is put together, like so many of them are
with Citizens Energy, which does gas, water and sewage. Uh
in you know, in certain areas, in a certain area,
your water bill is just they got somebody's got to
pay for it.

Speaker 4 (38:02):
Yeah, and he's just we're not just harping on aees.
These are monopolies. Like Tina said, I have a friend
lives up in northern Indiana kind of outside the Chicago metroplex,
and he's like retired and he don't need money. I
mean he you know, he had a nice government job,
I mean and maxed out and at the to the

(38:22):
top position. He has, you know, enough money, he's got
nice four one cage can send his children. And he said, James,
my bill popped from like one d eighteen to over
four hundred and something. He said, even I can't afford
that you know, so, you know, so swift.

Speaker 2 (38:40):
I think we have a couple of phone calls. We
got some colleges that want to weigh in.

Speaker 11 (38:44):
Let's go see Maria. Okay, Maria, are you there?

Speaker 12 (38:48):
Maria? Hello?

Speaker 1 (38:49):
Hello, Hello, Hello?

Speaker 4 (38:51):
How are you gg?

Speaker 12 (38:53):
Thank God?

Speaker 4 (38:54):
Is freday Tina?

Speaker 2 (38:56):
You don't even know?

Speaker 4 (39:00):
I could imagine yes, yes, And.

Speaker 13 (39:04):
I am calling on behalf of Zion the Ministries.

Speaker 4 (39:08):
I am first very thankful.

Speaker 13 (39:09):
That on Saturday on Fridays this community connection with Tina Cosby.
But I also want to make mention that on uh
uh uh and I'm glad for Country Kitchen. But also
on Sunday, Sunday on the twenty first, immediately after service
at the Sanders Temple Church of God in Christ, there
would be a huge toy giveaway for all community. Everyone

(39:33):
that wants to come in is start right about one pm,
right after service on Sunday. We know there's been a
lot of giveaways and things of that nature, and we
just don't want to be left out. So it's Sanders
Temple in partnership with Zional Ministries and Dynamic Futures LLC
is combined together and we're gonna have a big toy

(39:54):
giveaway and whatever.

Speaker 4 (39:55):
Else we can find a giveaway. We just give and
give and giving.

Speaker 13 (39:58):
Okay, Miss Maria, Well what is that d It's thirty
five sixteen East thirty ninth Street in the lovely city
of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Speaker 4 (40:07):
And the time, the time, one day until until until
everything is gone. We'll be there.

Speaker 1 (40:17):
Okay, all right, thank you for doing that. And I'm
sure that's gonna be a lot of people will be
blessed with that.

Speaker 2 (40:23):
So thank you. And that's coming up this coming, Yeah, to.

Speaker 4 (40:29):
Buy on our ministries. Yeah, yes, sir, yes, sir.

Speaker 2 (40:32):
All right Sanders Temple, there we go, all right, thank you?

Speaker 11 (40:37):
Right, we got Jeff here.

Speaker 2 (40:38):
Jeff was going on, Oh Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, what's up?

Speaker 8 (40:43):
Today's the deadline? They pulled the release those pictures and
now they do everything it can to block it.

Speaker 2 (40:48):
What happened?

Speaker 1 (40:49):
I didn't even find I was so busy this morning,
I didn't even.

Speaker 8 (40:52):
What happened foul today, right, and the Trump Justice Department
and just saying, oh, we'll get around to it today. Okay,
We're gonna get started on that today. No, you supost
have had them all ready to be released.

Speaker 14 (41:09):
Well, where the evangelicals at they are they protecting pedophiles
and and uh child molesters, hodges.

Speaker 8 (41:19):
You know, they ain't got none to high release them.

Speaker 4 (41:23):
Yeah. Well, they also said that they wouldn't be releasing
Pam BONDI said she wouldn't be releasing uh everything today
and the last I saw Jeff, Yeah, but you know
Congress already approved it. And the Jerseys, Yeah, it's a law.
I mean, they got to release them. They had thirty days,
but you knew they were slow walking. I mean, you

(41:44):
just slow walking and just slow walking, you know, James,
it was like a cash twenty two. You know, you
know what I mean. I mean, if they don't release
the people are going to say, oh what you're hiding?
And if they do release to oh man, you guys
are some freaks.

Speaker 8 (41:58):
Man.

Speaker 5 (41:58):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (41:59):
Well you got B twift.

Speaker 12 (42:05):
Because that's what's gonna happen.

Speaker 11 (42:07):
But it's like they are doing everything to make us forget.
That's why yesterday they hurried up and changed the Trump
Kennedy Center. Today they said they're actually putting up the
name on the building.

Speaker 2 (42:16):
You're doing it that?

Speaker 4 (42:19):
Yeah, I mean, I mean he's just gonna rename something
not going through Congress, he renamed, rename.

Speaker 11 (42:24):
It, then showed his Presidential Walk of Fame with all
of these plaques that are talking about people like dude
is doing everything he can to hope we forget or
are not paying attention exactly.

Speaker 8 (42:35):
Yeah, he Kenny, you're gonna relate to you know, my
football team doing the Washington Commanders slash resk. Well, Trump
say he's gonna hold up funding unless they named that
stadium after him.

Speaker 4 (42:47):
I heard that, heard that, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (42:50):
Well, and then it's a it's an administration of extortion,
strong arming tactics.

Speaker 6 (42:57):
My criminals, criminals.

Speaker 11 (42:59):
I tell you what else announced his own Hunger Games.

Speaker 12 (43:03):
Did you hear about that?

Speaker 2 (43:04):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (43:06):
But that that now it's a distraction. That's a distruction,
that what I said. But but what what isn't a
distraction is him saying that he is going to blockade
all the oil tankers going in and out of Venezuela
in parts. And I'll tell you what that is. That's
that that's an after war, Okay, when you prevent another

(43:28):
country from exercising their trade or commerce. I mean you
look at history, countries have gone to war over that,
and Russian then backing Russia is backing, uh, the Maduro regime.
Warren Trump, don't do that. Just yesterday I read that they.

Speaker 8 (43:49):
Warned, you know what, you know, James and James, you know,
was being navy guide. That was a dirty little suit
that provoked World War two when the United States started
blocking Japan's oil.

Speaker 4 (44:00):
Parents said, you know what, Oh, who doesn't messing with
our money?

Speaker 1 (44:04):
Now?

Speaker 12 (44:04):
It is right?

Speaker 8 (44:05):
Well, I think there's a little place called Pearl Harbor, then.

Speaker 14 (44:08):
We're going to pay a visit.

Speaker 8 (44:10):
Yeah, you think that Jeff and he had woke up
one day decided to bomb Pearl Harbor. No, we were blockade, no,
and we were messing with Japans resources. So you know,
that's the dirty little super bout there.

Speaker 4 (44:20):
Right, And that's the act of war. And beyond that, Jeff,
if he does it, it triggers the It triggers uh,
the War Powers Act in Congress, in which he should
have sixty days if Congress gets the backbone, he should
have sixty days to justify why, you know, his actions

(44:44):
and why we are are putting our young men and
women in harm's way. So you know, keep your eye,
like be Swith said, it's just a it's a distract.
Everything is a distraction for these styles. Because you're you're
talking about three all two's videos. Three all twos are
FBI interview reports videos. All that stuff has to come
out right, And I'm so glad that brought that.

Speaker 8 (45:08):
About the Hunger game scenario.

Speaker 4 (45:09):
Yeah, this guy wants to go dystopian.

Speaker 8 (45:12):
I mean that's kind of.

Speaker 1 (45:14):
You know, I think this is what you're replicating Swift,
that it was another shiny object that he threw out
there more so than seriously considering starting his own Hunger Games,
because that gets people talking, how ridiculous is that?

Speaker 11 (45:28):
Then you got those who are believers are I'm gonna
get my child ready for the games. You're you're a
fool too?

Speaker 12 (45:33):
How about that?

Speaker 8 (45:34):
Both Jim Jones and Georgetown exactly exactly.

Speaker 1 (45:40):
But yeah, we uh, George, I said, yeah, it's Friday, jonestown.
How easy it is for folks to get to get
caught up it is? Well, I guarantee has there been
any movement. I haven't seen anything. Let me look on
my phone. I haven't seen there been any movement or

(46:02):
any uh anything whatsoever to indicate that they're getting ready
to release some stuff today.

Speaker 4 (46:08):
Yeah, well, you know what I'll say that there there. Yeah,
well we'll we'll see something. We expect something to be
released by that because it's a law. I mean, and
and I read where she said something will be released.
What's in the Assistant Attorney general what's his name? Anyway,
he said that, uh, some things will be released, but

(46:31):
others will be released over the next several weeks, possibly months.
Todd Blanche, Todd Blanche, Yeah, Todd Blanche. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (46:43):
But uh but but another thing is that uh yeah,
like you said, it's all a distraction and I'm gon
close it is. The Democrats need to go.

Speaker 4 (46:53):
We need to grow, you know, we need to grow girl.

Speaker 8 (46:56):
A spine and get a spine there, because the Democrats
are the Keystone Cops and Republicans are the Manson family.

Speaker 1 (47:03):
Okay, all right, Jeff, appreciate you, thank you, Yeah, thanks freaks.

Speaker 2 (47:15):
Oh my goodness. Anyway, Uh, we still got a lot,
a lot ahead.

Speaker 1 (47:20):
The president of the Martin University Alumni Council and a
member of the Martin University Alumni Council should be joining
us shortly.

Speaker 2 (47:30):
We'll get to that.

Speaker 1 (47:31):
We also, I neglected swift, I neglected to let everybody
know we we still have our last set of tickets
to give away.

Speaker 11 (47:37):
We do got some tickets will give away next hour.

Speaker 1 (47:39):
Yeah, David and Tamilaman Love and Relationship Tours.

Speaker 11 (47:43):
Somebody did call him ask They said there was an
older gentleman. He said, everybody don't got their technology. Can
you give us a phone number for the heating assistant?
If it was a number, there was not.

Speaker 2 (47:57):
There may be a number of let me go on
the website.

Speaker 6 (47:59):
Okay there.

Speaker 4 (48:01):
I'll see if I can come up at one too,
because I got a couple of stories up.

Speaker 2 (48:04):
Here soci dot dot org. Okay. In the meantime, we're
gonna take a quick break and be back with you shortly.

Speaker 1 (48:30):
And we're back with Community Connection, James Patterson, our contributing
analysts with us, and of course, uh the visiting B
Smith B Smith be Swift, Oh my goodness, I gotta
get it together.

Speaker 12 (48:42):
Listen.

Speaker 11 (48:43):
We know we are we are very close to vacation.

Speaker 2 (48:45):
Yes, we do that. We count the countdown.

Speaker 1 (48:48):
Swift and I have been talking about it in the
break because he's going on vacation after today, as am I,
and so we were just talking about, uh, the different
things taking place.

Speaker 2 (48:57):
But anyway, Swift, you were telling that there.

Speaker 1 (49:00):
Was a gentleman that called yes about the heating assistance
with the United Way of Central Indiana.

Speaker 2 (49:06):
And he doesn't use technology. He uses the telephone.

Speaker 11 (49:09):
He wants to use the telephone.

Speaker 2 (49:10):
Okay, well, here's the number if you're listening. He did
he leave a name?

Speaker 11 (49:13):
No, he didn't leave a name.

Speaker 1 (49:14):
Okay, Well, if you're still listening and you want to
contact the United Way of Central Indiana's Winter Assistance program,
where you can start applying January first. The number to
the United Way is three one seven nine two three
one for six'. Six, again three one seven nine two

(49:35):
three one for six Six that is the number you
can CALL uh and they will direct you through.

Speaker 2 (49:41):
It so, yeah SOMETIMES i think we get so caught
up in our.

Speaker 1 (49:45):
Technology we think everybody has it and everybody uses, it
and they.

Speaker 2 (49:48):
Don't.

Speaker 11 (49:49):
No, absolutely that was. ME i was talking to somebody
about paying like my gas bill one day and it was, like,
YEAH i missed the. People my mom worked at the
gas station FOR i mean gas company for over twenty five,
years And i'm, like, yeah, like doing it online. SUCKS
i remember going down there and visiting her and watching
the people come in and now it's on all of
these equipments and it's like you get. Lost like the
person was, LIKE i don't know how to use The

(50:11):
internet side of, it And i'm, like, yeah they gotta figure that.
Out BUT i understand.

Speaker 2 (50:14):
Why, yeah, YEAH i do.

Speaker 1 (50:16):
Too and so there's the number against SIR A United
way Of Central. Indiana three one seven nine two three
one four six.

Speaker 2 (50:26):
Six i'll give it to you.

Speaker 1 (50:27):
Again three one seven nine two three one four six Six.

Speaker 2 (50:33):
And james And swift we this past.

Speaker 1 (50:36):
Week you, know our heads have been really regarding the
news coming out Of Martin university About Martin, university AND
i mean it's been one thing after, another just like just,
one you, know one nail.

Speaker 2 (50:49):
In the coffin after. Another. Uh and you, know hopefully
there's still some life. There.

Speaker 1 (50:54):
Uh and we have with us to talk more about
that and their reaction to what's going. On is the
Doctor Clyde, Posley Doctor, posey you're A Martin university alum
and you're a member of The Martin University Alumni. Association
also senior pastor At Diana Antioch fountain Of Grace. Church so,
welcome welcome back to the, show Doctor Pie. Posley how

(51:15):
are you Doing.

Speaker 12 (51:16):
I'm doing, Well. Jenn how are you doing?

Speaker 4 (51:18):
Today i'm doing.

Speaker 1 (51:19):
Good i'm doing, good just hanging in. There and then
you also have with You dwight. McGill he is the
president of The Martin University Alumni. Association, so mister, McGill,
welcome and we appreciate you both being.

Speaker 2 (51:31):
Here so where where do we? Start where do you
all want to?

Speaker 1 (51:35):
Start, okay, okay mister McGill is going to. Start Doctor,
posley go, ahead mister, McGill.

Speaker 8 (51:47):
Good.

Speaker 2 (51:47):
Afternoon.

Speaker 9 (51:49):
Uh the starting, point you, know is upsetting because we're
we're out of standstill far as, alums far as the,
community far as, students the current students, administration is that
because we'll be coming to we come into a boarder
directors who will not communicate.

Speaker 2 (52:09):
With us at, all at, all at.

Speaker 9 (52:12):
Whatsoever this COP i have seen numerous the emails to the,
chair to certain members of the. BOARD i haven't sent,
it so by a letter to the. Board the CLOSEST
i have gotten to the board was the interim president
now is a current board. Member she's also the lum
H Miss General Felicia. Brokoff that's the CLOSEST i get

(52:35):
to the, board and which is upsetting because they are
the allegiance to the. University they are who makes the
calls for the. University and which is upsetting because right
now where we're at right, now in the community all
OVER i Mean, Indiana Central indiana and also other states are,

(52:56):
like what can we do to? Help and we are.

Speaker 4 (52:59):
Stuck we we can't do nothing without the, board.

Speaker 2 (53:04):
You, know in.

Speaker 1 (53:05):
In in the in the short time span of a,
week we heard shocking. News the first news that shocked
us all that there was going to be a pause
in operations At Martin. University then a couple of days
after that comes news that the entire staff everyone has been.
Fired that was on A, MONDAY i do, believe because
it was supposed to be a payday and they're trying

(53:26):
to figure out how to get people. Paid then a
couple of days after, that we hear the news That
Martin university is ceasing all of its operations effective.

Speaker 2 (53:36):
IMMEDIATELY i.

Speaker 1 (53:37):
Guess so in the time span of a week or
less than a, week all you know that this has
just been a steady.

Speaker 2 (53:44):
Decline so what what are we looking?

Speaker 4 (53:47):
At?

Speaker 2 (53:47):
Here are?

Speaker 1 (53:48):
We are we looking at the eventual? CLOSING i, mean
what are we looking at.

Speaker 12 (53:52):
Well IF i could step then mister McGill respond to, That, Yes,
tina and, Listen god bless you for having, me And
i'm always blessed to be a part of whatever you're.
Doing the. Rolleroads the narrative has been painted frankly by the,
board but that's really not how it has. Been if

(54:14):
you will, Remember, tina back In january of this, year
When Governor brown was, elected He Alana rush and other
city leaders with him at The State. House we discussed
Why martin's promise From Governor holcombe of five million dollars

(54:35):
was not met and only one point five of that was.
Allocated it was during that discussion that That Governor bron
made the promise to us that he would see what
he could do to get those funds with that already
been promised to us through the, university and he would
meet with us again about taking sure That martin he
did what he could do to Make martin the only

(54:56):
states only predominantly black university remain. Viable following that, meeting
he received a correspondence from The governor's. Office back In,
january that meeting was canceled and then a private meeting
was set up With President Sean, huddleston which which which
kept everybody FROM uh information about what was going on

(55:18):
in the meeting because they were he was instructed By
huddleson to not let anybody into the. Meeting and after
that we see a resignation From Seohan huddison and a
rumored promise of a job At Marion university For Sean.
Huilston is. THERE i can't speak to, that but WHAT

(55:40):
i can tell you is is there's not Been it
hasn't gone as swiftly as it. Looked it's been a
slow drip. Process it's been a slow drip process has
now manifested itself looking like all this has happened right Before,
christmas waiting for the end of the. Year so we've
been heading for, this advocating for this without the leadership
of the president before. Now so it looks that, way

(56:02):
but it's not been as quickly as it.

Speaker 1 (56:04):
Looks, yeah and you know what you are echoing THE
uh the reaction that The reverend Doctor Tommy brown shared
with us on the day of when we heard first
of the pause and, operations and Doctor brown had basically
said the same thing that you're, saying that this has
been a long way, coming you, know a long time.

(56:25):
Coming and uh so now what and like you, said you,
SAID i think Doctor brown's exact words were dripped, drip
slow drip as.

Speaker 2 (56:32):
Well so what is what is this going to?

Speaker 4 (56:35):
Mean?

Speaker 2 (56:35):
Then for, WELL i guess nobody. Knows if nobody's, talking
how are we supposed to? KNOW i guess there.

Speaker 12 (56:41):
Are some who are making decisions about. That but but
they keeping the president of our Alumni association Of Dwight
gill of the. Loop and why is?

Speaker 2 (56:51):
It why is, that Mister?

Speaker 12 (56:53):
Gil you know that that that we have no. IDEA i, mean.

Speaker 9 (56:59):
Everything's been from our from our.

Speaker 12 (57:01):
Side has been open and.

Speaker 9 (57:03):
Honest we, asked we asked one thing WHEN i got
elected to this position that Doctor holliston at the time
with the, president said that they will be. Transparent they
will be they will they will you know Communications ei there.
COPY i have not heard anything from, anyone.

Speaker 7 (57:19):
Even even Even.

Speaker 9 (57:20):
Charlotte and he's he has changed his phone number, him, yeah,
yeah he's changed his phone. Number the interim the, interims
the Interim President General.

Speaker 7 (57:31):
Vocroft she's, been she's being she has an open door.

Speaker 9 (57:35):
Policy but the problem with that is she doesn't know
a lot of things that you know that we bring
to her, attention she as a board, member she didn't.

Speaker 12 (57:43):
Know.

Speaker 9 (57:44):
Uh and it's, frustrating it really, is because WHEN i
say the amount of support has been that has come
my way within the last two, weeks it's.

Speaker 4 (57:53):
Scary and you, know we.

Speaker 9 (57:55):
Have we, have we, have we have plenty of Set
we we have several different plans that we can give
to this board to keep our beloved university opening.

Speaker 7 (58:04):
Right now, today if they would sit.

Speaker 9 (58:07):
Down with, us we have several different options that would
not cost them.

Speaker 4 (58:11):
Anything and all.

Speaker 9 (58:14):
We keep getting this statements from you know. WHOEVER i
was told, that you, know the last time this last
techment came, out it was From, perkins who is the
chairman of the. Board. Uh and the publishers state stating,
that you, Know perkins is a volunteer. Position so if

(58:35):
that's a volunteer, position we're asking you volunteering to step
down because, yeah because you don't want to communicate with,
us what is what is your sor what is your
sorry purpose at the board? Chair if you don't want
to communicate with the alumni, Association.

Speaker 2 (58:48):
James feel?

Speaker 15 (58:49):
Free, yeah, yeah just, man this is really something AND
i want to just piggyback on What dwight McGill just
said about the.

Speaker 4 (59:01):
Board people can go and see who that board is
to have their pictures up there At margantina DOT Eedu
forward Slash, trustees And i'll just say that the five
officers here one of his ex Official, huddleson but the
chair Is Trustee JOSEPH. M Perkins, junior who he just alluded,

(59:22):
To Senior Vice president And General Council Citizens Energy Group Vice,
Chair Trustee Max, siego chief Executive OFFICER Usa track And
field owner of Rev racing l L. C Secretary Trustee Terry,
Morris associate Vice President Clinical experience at Tech Eli Lillian, Company,

(59:47):
Treasurer Trustee Bruce, buchanan owner AND ceo Of Buchanan, group
flanner Of Buchanan, indianapolis and ex official round off the
officers Doctor SEAN. L, huddleson former president and Of Martin.
University so those are the chief officers of the, board
and then it has the pictures of all the board

(01:00:07):
members under THAT i want to go through. Them there's
there's Several so my question to, you either Doctor reverend
Doctor Clyde posley is have you. Researched it isn't there
a state. Law it just came because of mind where
trustee meetings in some aspect have to be made. PUBLIC

(01:00:28):
i don't.

Speaker 12 (01:00:28):
Know i'm just kind of fishing.

Speaker 4 (01:00:30):
Here, yes and has that been done yes? Yet?

Speaker 12 (01:00:33):
No. No that that is what mister McGill is bemoaning right,
now that the, procedure which was once far more, transparent
has now become very, secretive, secretive and individuals have changed
their phone. Numbers AND i also want to add that
back In, january when uh, uh Doctor Lana russian AND

(01:00:54):
i met and other leaders met With Governor, brown the
president Of Martin university was, unreachable so mostly out of
the country and he never met with, us and we
we tried to meet with. Him it's of course before
we met with the. Governor, yeah and so, yes those

(01:01:20):
meetings minutes should be, public exactly the.

Speaker 4 (01:01:24):
MINUTES i want to let people know. Again you can
see their faces right there if you've got a Computer
martin DOT e ED u forward slash trustees t R
u s t E E S tina and it's right.
There and and it is against state law to be. Untransparent.
Uh if you're a board of, trustees especially of a you,

(01:01:47):
know college or a major educational. Institution so transparency is
a real problem. HERE i, mean you, know in the alumni,
ASSOCIATION I i, pause they're pushed they need to uh
and ask FOR i think you you accommodate them any
resources in community health that they need uh to. Uh you,

(01:02:09):
know have the alumni recognize and talk to you about, This.

Speaker 2 (01:02:13):
Paul is there.

Speaker 1 (01:02:14):
Anything to be made of the fact that they're just
stumbing their noses or seemingly sumbing their noses at state
law in terms of? TRANSPARENCY i, mean is there anything
to be read into that that why they're ignoring or
don't seem to, care or why it's not a top
priority right?

Speaker 2 (01:02:30):
Now is there anything you can read into?

Speaker 12 (01:02:33):
That in my they're they're receiving help from the. GOVERNOR
i think there is a foot opinion there is a
plan to Have Marin university absorb the land and the
building Of Martin. University AND i think there's a plan
of foot to make that. Happen and because the dollars
most certainly are present in the state Of, indiana to,

(01:02:56):
say the one, black predominitty black buduniversity In, indiana the
money is. AVAILABLE i think there is a. Condomction there's
an effort underway to Absorb martin Into. Marion those who
were quiet about it will benefit from.

Speaker 2 (01:03:14):
It, yeah well that's.

Speaker 1 (01:03:17):
Money That's that's WHAT i was wondering if this could
be a possibility in terms of what everything's looking, like
because it doesn't make.

Speaker 2 (01:03:24):
Sense none of this makes.

Speaker 4 (01:03:25):
Sense, yes, Right and and mister, mcguil can you tell
us being an ALUMN uh and alumnus Of Martin, university
can you tell us, please what Makes martin such a
unique venue an educational out, uh an educational option for

(01:03:48):
the students of previous and possibly new students in this.
Community what what client tell does it specially serve or
is available for where other institutions Like Indiana, University purdue
or what may not?

Speaker 9 (01:04:04):
Serve, well you, know the specialty About Martin university is
one of is our, founders Father, harding Sister, dacially these
two created something that was so special to the community Of.
Indianasis Martin university now six right in the middle Of, Brightwood,
martindale that's right in the middle Of, Brightwood. Martindale that's

(01:04:29):
that that has been the resource for that community for
years outside of the education.

Speaker 4 (01:04:34):
We look at you have so many individuals in.

Speaker 9 (01:04:37):
The city that has a degree that we don't even
know about From Martin.

Speaker 12 (01:04:41):
University that is.

Speaker 4 (01:04:42):
Scary.

Speaker 9 (01:04:43):
Now, ALSO i was listening to the conversation that you
guys talked about the, young about the old guys who
was not able to uh internet.

Speaker 4 (01:04:52):
Access that's Where martin comes.

Speaker 9 (01:04:53):
From Martin martin focused on the community, people the individuals
that started through The Green the definition there came in
with the angigoal way of, learning that is the hands on.
Approach not everyone is going to YOUR i use Your,
purdue your boss. State not everyone has that has that.
Affordability But martin is right here in the inner city

(01:05:16):
that focused on our people and that's Been let's be,
real we are the only predominant black institution in the
state Of.

Speaker 1 (01:05:23):
Indiana and not to mention and not to mention adult
learners with.

Speaker 2 (01:05:28):
The families and, children the mid who.

Speaker 1 (01:05:31):
Cannot go to school in the traditional in the traditional,
Way martin offers non traditional.

Speaker 2 (01:05:38):
Solutions including childcare and you know a number of other.
Things and that.

Speaker 1 (01:05:42):
Gets me back to as we talk about the, students
what about the. Students, say for, instance somebody wanted to
transfer their credits From martin for now to you, know
to finish up somewhere. Else what are their options or
have those been outlined at all in terms of if
you're currently a, student if you owe money or have
money coming to, you if you have hours you want to,

(01:06:04):
try you, know what Are have those options slash solutions
been hashed out and made available to current and former.

Speaker 4 (01:06:12):
Students they have.

Speaker 9 (01:06:14):
Not we are we are the community get the same
famous students that has. Gotten we're working on that and
we'll give back to. You that's What that's what was
given to the community as well as the students as.

Speaker 12 (01:06:28):
Well as the.

Speaker 4 (01:06:28):
Alumni from the board Of.

Speaker 1 (01:06:30):
Trustees we have a Doctor Tommy, brown who taught and
was a professor At Martin university for a number of,
years more than twenty five. Years he's on the line
and is joining the conversation Doctor, brown how are you?

Speaker 3 (01:06:41):
Today all as we, say you, know, YEAH i Doctor
posley and the other person.

Speaker 4 (01:06:53):
Mister McGill fright mcguil okay.

Speaker 3 (01:06:56):
And opposally can really talk about me because he's one
of my one of my sharp students back in the,
day right and went on and achieved HIS thhd and
now it's time for him to write a couple of.

Speaker 12 (01:07:13):
Books more, books Doctor. Brown, yeah cause.

Speaker 3 (01:07:18):
He's get an excellent. ONE i KNOW i gotta sitting right.
Here BUT i Liked james would that he asked a
fundamental question in regard To Martin, university and that it
rests back WHEN i started with. Him that was with
a father and my dad and Sister jane and that whole.
Dynamic but what Made martin? Unique and let's be, Clear

(01:07:40):
MARTIN i didn't only have black, students they had white,
students because many of my graduate students, were, uh were
whites that had already had their masters and other. Disciplines
now to flip back to H i want to flip

(01:08:00):
back To james's question about what made it. Unique from
its very, Beginning martin was designed to reach into the,
community black and, white those who wanted to pursue their.
Education and they had a program AND i think you'll
know What i'm talking ABOUT PLA A Prior learning, assessment,

(01:08:20):
right and then The Prior Learning ASSESSMENT tina was designed
that let's say you are let's Say, tina and you
decided you want to go back to. SCHOOL i know
you've been in. School but let's just say you want
to go back and work on a master's. Degree you
also had the opportunity to do studies in what we
call prior learning. Assessment that was a too semester course

(01:08:45):
where you you really write your history of your different work.
Experiences those work experiences could go as high as sixty.
HOURS i think that there you, go sixty hours. Credit
and at the same, time look how much money you
save on sixty hours. Credit oh.

Speaker 6 (01:09:06):
Absolutely and but.

Speaker 1 (01:09:08):
By just by documenting real life, experience lived lived experience
that a book probably couldn't.

Speaker 3 (01:09:15):
Teach you thank you and see there is the here
is the catch, word and and and those farmer. Students
martin was not a school of. Pedagogy it was a
school of what Doctor posley and there you, go there you.
Go now understand you don't have any other universities in

(01:09:36):
this state that used the basis of usbagogie.

Speaker 12 (01:09:42):
Both teaching each other thank.

Speaker 3 (01:09:44):
You you need to say that more. Often i'm just
messing with. Him but the dynamics is that allowed EVEN
i can throw My my mother did her other, masters
but she refused to take ca this is from me
and SAY i ain't taking no course with my, son
And i'm going back to y'all into the nineteen, eighties,

(01:10:07):
uh and this is TWENTY i stepped out after father
passed or help in regard to doing some other things
with the first, president and THEN i kind of stepped
out because, hell how long has that? Been but, anyway
the dynamic is hard leaving that.

Speaker 12 (01:10:25):
Out he helped me become a professor At, martin, Right and.

Speaker 3 (01:10:31):
The whole thing about it is to reach the people
who are who can come to college under an educational,
methodology technology or systemic way of andigogie anddigogie makes you
be part of your learning experience and get a focus

(01:10:52):
on where you want to go From then had a
couple of grad students who finish their degrees at the
age of ninety, two.

Speaker 4 (01:11:01):
Sir that is that is, amazing and that is unique
to What martin's mission is and their role in the
community because a lot of these people who Attend, martin
a lot of students who Attend, MARTIN i mean because
of their, schedules like you, said financial and the prior learning,
assessment they just couldn't they wouldn't fit anywhere. Else this

(01:11:24):
college has a unique mission that fits the people who
need it and lots of them need.

Speaker 3 (01:11:30):
It that's, correct, Absolutely and and the and the early
development Of, Martin you've had some unique. Personalities Now i'm
going to try to be nice because of the fact
right now there is some fraud that has taken place
in the past couple of years At martin at the top.

Speaker 4 (01:11:50):
Level see that's where an audit. Minutes. Uh, transparency all
of that is. Important Not i'm not claiming what you,
say Doctor, brown but the transparency is very vital right
now in this situation where they Paused Martin.

Speaker 3 (01:12:05):
University, yeah and that a unique. Word we Put paul's on.
IT i, said, no, no that is. Unique but back
to see in regard To, martin think about, it all
of you, listening think about. This what is happening over?
Here you you hit? It what is happening over here
in The brightwood area of Paul Sits what is trying

(01:12:29):
to be taking place three blocks From? Martin the data?

Speaker 4 (01:12:33):
Center, yeah you know we've been talking about.

Speaker 3 (01:12:36):
That, yeah, yeah see the data. CENTER i still live
in the. HOOD i go to the, store Uh safeway up,
there and they see me, saying what you're Doing, Brown
Like i'm looking for? Snow but at The, YEAH i
know nobody likes, him he, said But i'm getting my.

(01:12:57):
Snow but that area is prime for another kind of economic.
Enterprise And, martin, See martin owns some PROPERTY i done
found out posing y'all may need to check on. It
do we still own that? Property we have.

Speaker 9 (01:13:16):
Msguil we still we still own several pieces of land over. There,
HOWEVER i will say this that understand have sold a
lot of.

Speaker 12 (01:13:27):
Properties, okay, Man that.

Speaker 4 (01:13:31):
Mean that should have been. Politicized we should have heard
about that on you, know community. Connection that should have been.
Publicized and and somebody's idea who said that the end
game is to give that To Marion? University was that,
you Doctor? BROWN i mean that?

Speaker 3 (01:13:47):
Poson he, said, NOT i mean that is that is.

Speaker 4 (01:13:51):
Outrageous now he's hitting.

Speaker 3 (01:13:53):
On something very unique because there there was always and
he even when he was there was the des to
create a. Relationship here's what happened was create a. Relationship
you al redycall with Ivy Tech Ivy, tech you go
to school for two, years you do your you, know
YOUR aa, degree then you come To. Martin that was

(01:14:14):
an excellent idea and it was kind of. Working Then
marion now Understand marion's, historicity And i'm making up words right.
Now marion is a Strong catholic. School martin's base comes
out of the energy Of Father Boniface harton And Sister. Jane,

(01:14:34):
yes and that property what you call right with that
school and everything was owned by, who The Catholic, church
and then it was passed on in i'd, say a
nice way from The catholic system, enterprise and gave that
To martin to. Development Martin university named after Two. Martins

(01:15:00):
one was What Martin Luther king and the other was
Who Martin, perez a black, Priest and so that history
And marion was kind of helpful to. That BUT i
think the game began to change When Marion university even

(01:15:21):
extended its programs into what you can get your degree
in medicine over there now and to understand the enterprises
of academics and. Education Martin university is in a good
is in a good space and place to. Be what
Doctor post said that may be one of the, strategies

(01:15:43):
But i'm not too sure that it's really the. Strategy
for some reason that board became. Crooked that's my.

Speaker 2 (01:15:51):
Statement, yeah and that is Doctor Tommy.

Speaker 1 (01:15:54):
Brown but you know, what Doctor, Brown i'm Like, JAMES
I i will say that too much of it doesn't
pass the smell test for me.

Speaker 2 (01:16:05):
EITHER i don't know, where what or.

Speaker 1 (01:16:07):
How but, uh Mister miguil and Doctor, poseley Doctor, brown
what what should people?

Speaker 2 (01:16:13):
Do? Uh if, they you, know are just kind of
stuck in limbo?

Speaker 1 (01:16:17):
Here is there any anything that that, students current students
and former students can do right? Now would be my?

Speaker 3 (01:16:26):
Statement would get you some, lawyers start your protests and
get the black legislators and willing other legislators to put
a palls on the.

Speaker 4 (01:16:38):
Pauses, yeah that's a good. Idea, well you, know we.

Speaker 7 (01:16:45):
Are we the Alumni association is.

Speaker 9 (01:16:48):

Yep so, Yeah, JAMES a couple of things we talked
about yesterday The Marion County Public Health, department we always
want to keep everybody. Safe starting next week On, monday
there's going to be visitor restrictions for all the number
Of Marion county hospitals because of the rise in influenza
AND RSV. Rsv the largest, population according to The health,

(01:27:14):
department is children infants ages zero to four the flu,
INFLUENZA i think all the way up to ages, Eighteen
so not necessarily an older demo that's coming down with the.
FLU a lot of kids that are let me see
around the ages of. Eighteen so but whatever the, Case,

(01:27:34):
please if you have to visit someone in the, hospital
which people, do they tend to check on the stick
and the shut, in especially over the, holidays you may
want to call or look online at that hospital's. Website
or that health systems website to find out what THEIR
i guess for.

Speaker 2 (01:27:54):
You, yeah policies are for right. NOW i. Know Doctor Virginia, kine.

Speaker 1 (01:28:00):
The rector of The Marion County Public Health, department did
ask for this these restrictions to be put.

Speaker 2 (01:28:06):
In, place.

Speaker 1 (01:28:12):
Doctor kaine. Says Doctor kaine. Says Doctor kaine, Says i'm
trying to think, anyway it was very. Young the hospitals
including participating in the temporary visitors restrictions include those within
The Community Health, Network Franciscan, Health, Indianapolis, Ascension Saint, vincent
Are You, Health, Indiana University health In, sydney And Lois Esconazi.

(01:28:33):
Hospital so, yeah no visitors under the age of. Eighteen
some facilities may allowed younger visitors or make special exemptions
depending on the specific. Circumstances so, Yeah december twenty, second
two thousand and. Five, yeah zero to seventeen age group
for influenza and zero to four FOR.

Speaker 2 (01:28:56):
Rsv so there's.

Speaker 4 (01:28:57):
That, yeah good, reminder good.

Speaker 1 (01:29:02):
Reminder, yeah and, again LIKE i, said a lot of
people visit others on the, holiday including those that are
that are sick and in the.

Speaker 2 (01:29:08):
Hospital so you just want To, yeah you just.

Speaker 1 (01:29:10):
Want to make. SURE i want to make, sure want
to make. Sure so what else do we have? Here
anything you think we're?

Speaker 2 (01:29:18):
Missing?

Speaker 1 (01:29:19):
Oh they apparently it doesn't look like today is supposed
to be the. Day oh you Heard jeff talk about.
It today is supposed to be the day that the
the dj is supposed to release The epstein.

Speaker 4 (01:29:31):
Files, correct? Correct, yeah and uh you?

Speaker 2 (01:29:35):
Heard do you think about?

Speaker 4 (01:29:36):
It? Oh, yeah, yeah WHAT i said was the The
Justice department announced this morning that they would not be
releasing all they would be. Releasing, yeah they would be
releasing hundreds or thousands, today but not. All and there
are tens of thousands of. Records and they said went

(01:29:58):
on to say that they would be releasing the others
in the coming. Weeks, well that's not what the law.
Says the law says thirty days From november, nineteenth which
would Be. December are their amounts In december, nineteenth so
that you, know they they missed their deadline and we'll

(01:30:20):
have to. See they said that they're not releasing all
of them today because they're still going through and they
want to redact make sure none of the victims are you,
know put in a place in which they would be
compromised or. Identified so but you, KNOW i mean they
also the law requires them to say why who they

(01:30:45):
are addicting redacting excuse, me and why they are redacting
the portions that they redact of the. Records and again
there ARE fbi three er two, reports which are interview
reports WITH fbi. Agents there are videos that that can be.
Released all of this is part of The Justice department's,

(01:31:05):
record and there's a lot.

Speaker 1 (01:31:07):
There so you, KNOW i just got a text from
somebody that Said bondi said she's not releasing.

Speaker 2 (01:31:14):
Anything that's WHY i went back over. That so maybe that's.

Speaker 4 (01:31:18):
Uh maybe The texas said.

Speaker 1 (01:31:22):
Zero, yeah he, said So bondi is not releasing anything.

Speaker 2 (01:31:26):
Today that's what the.

Speaker 4 (01:31:27):
Text and in.

Speaker 2 (01:31:30):
The, MEANTIME i am so.

Speaker 1 (01:31:31):
MAD i was driving Home swift yesterday AND i was,
like we forgot to Ask danny about That bears a
Potential bears stadium in Northwest.

Speaker 2 (01:31:41):
Indiana now, Good, yeah it's getting real now.

Speaker 11 (01:31:45):
Yeah and they even HAD i just seen something released
where they were saying that we've agreed that they can
keep the Name Chicago. Bears we don't mind keep the.

Speaker 2 (01:31:53):
Name just come on, over come on over and give
us the. Money, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 11 (01:31:55):
So this is gonna get really good because it's to,
me IT'S I i listened to a video this morning
that Claimed chicago or somebody wants The bears to pay
for this five hundred million dollar debt that. Remains but
that wasn't The bears. Problem that was on the city
or the state or. Whoever AND i heard the other
thing is it has to do with this. Roof they

(01:32:16):
want a, Roof chicago don't want a. Roof come on over.
Here we got, roofs we got retractable.

Speaker 2 (01:32:21):
Roofs we, like we. Like all The bears don't want
to rum because.

Speaker 11 (01:32:25):
You, Know chicago's never had a roof over their. Stadium oh,
open it's one of the few that's let told your.

Speaker 4 (01:32:31):
Field that's why it's an Old so they want to.

Speaker 11 (01:32:36):
Keep it on school, school WHICH i understand to a.
Degree but it'll be cold. Outside maybe the people don't
want to be in the snow and you.

Speaker 15 (01:32:43):
Ain't, yes, okay update here on what we were just talking.

Speaker 2 (01:32:50):
About THAT i just got that that she was releasing
none of.

Speaker 4 (01:32:54):
Them, yeah, well em it's And. MICROSOFT Nbt news reports
full D oj release Of Jeffrey epstein records could take
a couple of, Weeks deputy ag, Said hold on a.
Minute Dep Attorney General toddlin said The Justin department would
release several hundred thousand documents from Its Jeffrey epstein investigative

(01:33:15):
files On. Friday then hyphen but there's that there's still
much more to. Come so he's saying seven minutes, ago
according to this, post that they would release something. Today
we'll see if they even do.

Speaker 2 (01:33:29):
That but, yeah, yeah, well LIKE i, SAID i just got.

Speaker 1 (01:33:32):
THAT i, MEAN i know what you said. Earlier i'm
just SAYING i just got that a few seconds. Ago
but such as, LIFE i, mean they they simply just
aren't quite acquainted with the. Truth and again that is
breaking the. Law but how many times have they snuffed
their balls at the?

Speaker 2 (01:33:45):
Law they are the.

Speaker 4 (01:33:47):
Laws they got, In, yes they got, in and.

Speaker 2 (01:33:50):
The sad reality is they are the.

Speaker 1 (01:33:52):
Law they would they would be the ones enforcing it
because it's a federal offense that they apparently will be
committing if they do not obey the congressional.

Speaker 4 (01:34:02):
Order right, exactly, Okay AND i mean if it wasn't
for the federal, judges not The Supreme, court because they you,
KNOW i mean if The Supreme court could back them
on every. Case they. Can't they just don't have enough.
Time but the ones they get they back them. On But,
TINA i, mean if it, wasn't there would be. Nothing
if there wasn't these lower echelon, judges who you, know

(01:34:26):
can put some kind of stops on, them there would
be absolutely nothing to stop them from turning it into
an authoritarian, government which they're trying their best to. Do.

Speaker 1 (01:34:36):
Yeah, indeed, Well, james AS i was, saying this is
our last broadcast of the year of twenty twenty, five

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say.
