Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome back to the Cricket Today's Show for the Australias
India ODI I series preview.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
I'm your host Leo Malalley. I'm not Leam McKell.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
He's in New Zealand, but of course I'm joined by
Marcus Bizano.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
What's going on?

Speaker 3 (00:18):
Where is Lee?

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Where is he? I think he's off with the sheep
in New Zealand.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
With he's gone back home to the what do they
call it? The Shire? The mother lanb Yeah, back all
the hobbits live.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Because he's a little short Ki, he's a little short king.
We love him though.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
But look, Marcus, if you like what Marcus does, you
should check out his stuff on odds dot com dot
a you because.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
He cooks some nice articles. And I'm sure in the
next month or so when the Ashes starts that there.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
Will be plenty of cricket, there will be plenty of
cricket stuff, and who knows, maybe some some articles that
Liam might write might be up there as well. I
didn't even have to ask you to do that sheet.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Okay, so on the run sheet, that's that's why you
read it out.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
But of course we've got to show you some love.
We've got to show you something, appreciate it. Now. Look
today we've got a massive show. It's really the start
of the summer of cricket here in Australia.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
We've got an ODI series preview against India which is
going to be awesome. We're going to go through our
predictions for the game as well as looking at the
squads as well. So yeah, tune in for that because
I think it'll be a good one.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
Well, there's actually already been cricket played in Australia somewhat
like Australian cricket. Cricket you mean, no, like Australia have
played in some internationals. You mean it's just been Yeah,
still still counts, no one remembers it. So yes, But
apparently this Australia India series should be very good and
they're going to be big crowds as well. There's already

(01:37):
I think there's a sellout for the twenty twenty series.
The twenty twenty game at the MCG I believe was
already pretty much exhausted.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
So well, it's a huge.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Rivalry, like people always get around it, even if you
don't support either sit or from either either country. But
before we get into it, We've got to shout out
the Apple podcast, Spotify, YouTube where everywhere, wherever you get
your podcasts or your show.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Just give us a watch, give us a like.

Speaker 4 (02:00):
Weans trying to hit four k subscribers before we started
the ashes.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Oh, we could do that easily.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
We could.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
We only needed your friends seventy more So I don't
have seventy friends, so I don't know soe many people.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
So you do. You just get your hinge matches. Sorry, mate,
I apologize on holidays now.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Look, we're also all across the socials at Cricket Today
au so TikTok x, Facebook, Instagram, get around us on there.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Let's get into it, Marcus. Let's do it.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
Look at the squads.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Yeah, let's do it. We'll start with Australia squad. I'll
read it out.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
I'm just going to ramble some names off and I
just want to give you It's a weird squad, isn't it.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
It's a weird squad. So let's go through.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
We've got Mitch Marsh's captain, Xavier Bartlett, Alex Carrey, Cooper Connolly,
Ben Dorsches, Nathan, Alice cam Green, Josh Hazel, your man,
Travis Head Matt Coonerman, Mitch Owen, Josh Philippi, Matt Renshaw,
Matt Short, and Mitch Stark.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
Yeah, I think it's interesting. I'm look, we've we've gone
with somewhat of these names for the ODIs. Recently, we've
actually improved in ODI rankings. We're up to the third
overall in the ICC rankings, where whereas we're normally a
little bit lower in those. But in saying that, India
are number one in the ICC rankings, but in terms

(03:13):
of this Australia squad, I'm just a little bit confused. Obviously,
it's just going to get some bowling into a couple
of these bowlers, like the hazel Woods, Hazelwood Stark for
the Ashes. It wouldn't be surprised if you see Travor's
head bowl a little bit as well, if he has
to bowl some spinnment, some part time spin in the
fourth or fifth test of the Ashes, when you know

(03:33):
we get to those sort of pitches pictures.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Where he might be called upon.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
He might be called upon as long as syd he
doesn't get rained out, but insane. I think the batting
lineup is going to be one to keep an eye
on here.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
I think it's gonna be with this batting lineup, I'm
very nervous. We'll get to predictions later, but do you
think just on the batting lineup.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
They've obviously brought in Matt Renshaw, who has a really
good ODI career at domestic level, but.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Is it does it feel like an order for him?

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Like is he is he the man that might open
for the Ashes based on how he performs in this series.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
I think they've brought They've brought him in here. He's
indecent nick as well, he's in good form, and I
think they've tried everything and they're just going to keep
trilling stuff for the Ashes, and I wouldn't be surprised. Actually,
one hundred percent he will be opening this ODI series.
I'm not sure who with because looking at it now
the head you think he will, I thought, and where

(04:29):
would you put Matt Short?

Speaker 3 (04:29):
Then?

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Well, I think it's between Matt Short and Matt Renshaw
for that opening spot.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
So you don't think if Renshaw plays, Matt Short won't
get a game?

Speaker 2 (04:37):
Yeah, Because I think Matt Short's strength is at the
top of the order.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
I think you've got plenty of hitters that can come
in late like, yeah, Mitch Owen's Cooper Connelly if they
want to back him in.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Alex Carey is another one who can battle that five role.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Yeah, so I think that opening spot is down to
those So they've got they got three games.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
You can chop and change.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
You can chop and change a little bit.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
But I think if they want to give Renshaw like
a faired income crack, they will play him in all three. Yeah,
see how he goes against this Indian bowling lineup, which
is you know, pretty familiar, pretty stat that they came
over for the Australian Test Series when they played here
last time. So but who would you who would be
your top five to six for the Aussies.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Well, firstly, it just feels weird to me that we're
using an ODII series to audition Renshaw. Yes, it feels strange.
I don't think that's the right prep.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
I think I think like we feel Marnus has been
in great form and we've been big advocates of possibly
not having Mars in the ashes off him starting eleven,
maybe in the squad, but not in the starting team.
But like he's been in really good form and he's
going to keep playing just domestic cricket because he wasn't
announced in this in this ODI squad. Did they miss

(05:42):
the trick there? If they're auditioning Renshaw, should they have
just let him play domestic cricket?

Speaker 3 (05:46):
I think they probably should have.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Well, I mean, it depends how you look at it,
because you can audition in domestic cricket, like I said
with Manas, so it is a bit of a strange one.
I feel like they'd take in Marnus's form in domestic
cricket and ren Shaw's form in this equally going into
the ashes.

Speaker 4 (06:02):
Yeah, okay, but who would you pick? I want to
know who you if you have no? Yeah, Jake, gun
to the head. You had no gun to the head.
You had to You had to pick between Marnus and
iping between them, just between the two, one of them
has to play them.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Gone, Renshaw. We've been down the well with Marnus.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Have we been down the well with Renshaw?

Speaker 4 (06:19):
We've been We've been lowered down into the deck exactly.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
You know, how lower can we get?

Speaker 1 (06:25):
You mean LOWERI some respect on his name, and that's
why I don't have him opening here.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
I've actually I'm actually agreeing with you though, Jake weather
rude speak.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
He shout, I don't mind it. But back to this game,
I think I'm actually going to go with matchaw and
head up top.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
I think left right combination because Wrenshaw's obviously left handed
like Travis Head, I would go at three, I'd go
Mitch marsh agreed or Green five Carry, that's my top
five or Green five Carrey. And we also should point
out that English and Zampa as well have been ruled
out with injuries, so I think English would have taken

(07:03):
that number four or five spot.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Yeah, but Carry I think takes that now.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
And I think English is the natural carey replacement probably
for all formats.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
Really think long term test for English.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
Yeah, I think I'm a big fan of English.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
I think he's a great keeper and he's a very
good bat as well.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Yeah, not bad. Should we get on to India, let's
do it. So India squad and this is a bloody
stack team.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
They have some of the best pool like talent pool
to choose from, and like obviously there's a big Indian
community here in Australia and they're just gonna love seeing
these guys out on display.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Even their B team is still pretty stacked. But this
is definitely their a team. I'll roll through.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
It should mean Gil captaining the side, rowd Shama Virak Kohley,
two experienced.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Guys there to sort of I guess did struggle bad enough?

Speaker 4 (07:51):
Gil, I know, but they did struggle in when they
came here for the Test series. I know it's a
different different time, different format, but interesting to see you
can play themselves back in a little.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
Bit of form.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
Yeah, you've also got strays. Ax Apatau your man.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
All won't shut up about him already, Washington, Sunda pull
Deep Ya Harship Runner, Muhammed Saraj, ash Deep Singh, Krishna,
Prattish Krishna, excuse the pronunciation.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
Jirel your man trying to Rememberbably.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
And Jay as well as well.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
It was a very good team.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
And of course this India side, they're straight off winning
the Asia Cup. I know that's T twenty, this is
ODI I but bringing in that winning form, they pretty
much rolled through every team.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
They're pretty pretty comfortably in the end.

Speaker 4 (08:40):
The only the only thing I'm also worried about is
because they're just coming off playing a Test match against
the West Indies. Obviously, there there was a bit of
a like obviously rotated side a little bit, but saw
bodies and travel will come into it. Like also said,
I was at the airport on on Monday night.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
And it's not that far from here.

Speaker 4 (09:01):
Yeah, but I was at the airport on Monday night
and I was watching I was watching at the airport
bar live Australia India versus West Indian.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
Six days later they're playing.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
Six days later they're comeing to Australia. So which is
which could be a little bit of concern for.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
Traveling a good thing though, like they're fresh playing cricket
where Australia have had a bit more of a break,
Like India might be ready to hit them hard that
first test, but then the later tests is Australia find
the group India might be a bit sore.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
Do you do you think that?

Speaker 4 (09:27):
Like obviously in sports everyone talks about travel or like
we've got to travel and then we play three days later.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
Blah blah blah. How big, Like do you think that's
a big?

Speaker 2 (09:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (09:36):
I think it is possibly in Australia, especially with cricket
when you're flying like different countries, Like yeah, like India
going from one country to another and they've got to
back it up.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
Probably not. They probably haven't seen their families.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
No, they probably haven't.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Like mentally, it would get to your You have to
get through an ODI ice series. You have to get
through a t twenty series days in between where.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
You probably don't have.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
You probably have what one rest in between the series
because one day you'd have to train. You'd have to
think about what you're eating. Obviously that's no matter where
you play, but it would get to you and it
would be tough to travel.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
But who would be the most important player in this
Indian lineup for you? Because at it with the bat,
because there's a lot of experience, a lot of runs there.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
I think I'm going to give you two. I think
it's who you mentioned earlier. I think it's Rowd Shaman
and We'rat Kohli.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
I think we saw both of them.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Yeah, I think they're bowling. We saw what they did
when they came last summer. It was mainly Buma that
was the threat. But I still think in the shorter
format they've got more than capable bowlers of causing our batting,
particularly some really big issues.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
So I think it's with the bat.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
I think you know what you get from Gil Sresi
is a great ODII competitor ready and Rahul as well,
you know what you get from them. I would love
to see Roward Sharma and Virat Kohli after sort of
the disappointing end to the summer that they had last year.
And Coli made a center in the first test, but
then off Sharma was just poor.

Speaker 4 (11:03):
For all of them, who would you rather have in
this od I batting line up for Australia If you
could take one of them, it's got to be Cu
Charma will call you.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
Take Yeah, I think he's the king. King You've got
to take. But what a team for India? And should
we go into our predictions series?

Speaker 3 (11:19):
Three game series three.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
Game series, We'll go through our series prediction, our first
ODI prediction, our best bat out for whether you want
ODI for the whole series.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
I'll let you decide, Marcus to do the whole series.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
So I'm going to do the same as well my
serious prediction, and then I'll get to yours.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
I'm going India to one.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
I like it. I'm also going to go with India
to one.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
So which ODI do you think Australia win? Is it
this one?

Speaker 3 (11:46):
I think Australia win this one first one.

Speaker 4 (11:48):
Well, like I didn't mention obviously just before about the
travel and obviously they've played, they played a lot of crickets,
so they might be a bit som't be a bit
tired and and adding travel into the mix.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
And I just think.

Speaker 4 (12:01):
Australia they played a decent amount of short format cricket
as well.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
No, India have just come off the Asia Cup.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
But yeah, I think if Australia going to win one
of those games, it would be the first one.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
Yeah, I don't mind that I'm going India in this one.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
I think I'm I'm looking the other way. I just
think I know the travels. I think the fact that
they're a bit more conditioned with playing cricket will work
in their favor.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
And I think if Australia.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Snag won, it'll be either the second or the third
where maybe they're a bit more match conditions.

Speaker 4 (12:31):
I think it's Adelaide and Sydney.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
Yes, and then this one's in Perth.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
This one's in Perth.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
Yeah, yeah, okay, so who.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
Is the best batter in this one?

Speaker 4 (12:40):
Because India did smash Australia in Perth for the series, they.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Demolished us, but overall best batter for the series.

Speaker 3 (12:46):
You know, I'm going to go a bit rogue.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
I did have Travis Head written in there because I
know he loves a One day game against India or
he just loves facing India in general.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
But I'm actually going to switch and I'm going to
go Mitch Marsh. I'm going to go. I'm going to go.

Speaker 4 (13:01):
There was his skipper because I think he's been He's
been in superb form in recent games. He's one games
off his own bat in the twenty twenty series, just
gon for Australia, and I think he's even though he's
the captain, I feel like there's a lot of pressure,
a lot of pressure taken off him now because he's
not worried about getting back into the Australian lineup.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
For the Test, a squad where he wants to.

Speaker 4 (13:24):
He can chill out, he can have fun, he can
plays cricket and yeah, I just think in Perth as well,
home deck for him, get off to a good start
and then take away the best batter of the series.
But are you going, are you going to or are
you going the dark.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
On the man? This should man We're bringing it back.
Mcgirl should be in the way, not Durell, not Gerrel.
I don't think Gerrell will play unfortunately, but Shulman Girl.
I just think he.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
Exudes class and then the only bottler that might cause
him a bit of headaches, like in the Test series
with Stark. At the same time, Stark can be a
little bit expensive. We love that about he picks up
the wickets, but I think gil can maybe just win
that battle and take care of the other bowlers no worries, and.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
Maybe make a couple of centuries.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
I'll actually be really it would be really fun to
see Nathan Allis bowl to him.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
I raally rate Nathan Alas.

Speaker 4 (14:16):
Because we were like everyone's talked, he's been in the
squad for a while now, he's been in the squad
for a couple a few years, and I just want
to see him playing a bowl against the best batsman
in the world and see how he stacks up.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
And sure McGill was definitely one of.

Speaker 1 (14:29):
Those absolutely who's your bowling pick? Marcus well along on
a little bit left the field here. I'm cool deep
out of so.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
I think I just think spin can can play a
part in the second and third od on in particular.
I don't expect him to rack up a lot of
wickets in Perth obviously, but in the last two games
I reckon they'll he take the bulk of his wickets,
most of those being in Sydney, and because I do
think you're going to win the series, they will therefore
take more wickets.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
Therefore out of been coming to play.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
He's a bit of a slipper bowler, isn't he Like
he can He can get hit a little bit, but
he's got a great rung yep like. The way he
flights it in is really tempting for the batsman if
you caught out on the rope.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
I reckon, I think.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
There's a lot of Australian batsman here who could get
tempted into that big shot.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
You're looking at the like of moss Owen cam Green.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
Cam Green can get, you can definitely get. Marsh loves
the hit the ball hard should go after him. Ben'swashes
as well, when Cooper Connolly loves to stampley authorready early
in his innings. So I think there's wickets on offer
there for Court.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
Don't mind it.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
I'm going and Ossie in this one. I'm going Josh
Hazelwood your man, Marcus, just I just think the Aussie
bowlers might be a little bit on the expensive side,
just with that India batting lineup, and I think Hazel
is one that can keep it together.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Know how to create a dot ball.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
When you need to create a few dot balls in
and over, maybe help not necessarily jag a wicket, but
build the pressure to the guy at the other end jagged.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
The wick economically. He's such a great bally fantastic.

Speaker 4 (16:03):
Honestly, he goes Sidney Sweeney, Tate McCrae, Josh Hazel right
above the screen.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
I'll let the audience know what Marcus is ranking them
on there.

Speaker 3 (16:13):
Chucker chucker, Like on this video. If you love Josh Hazel.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
All right and Sydney Sweeney and Tate McCray, you'll be
liking it. Then absolutely is that it? Though? Is that
stumps Markers? That's it?

Speaker 1 (16:24):
Like this little without Lean was a little vibe on
the same count with liamb.

Speaker 2 (16:29):
It's with Liam not he forces us to do this.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
We love that man.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
Look, we'll do this show to wrap up.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
The Odio series and preview the T twenty series, so
stay tuned for that. Get Around this show though, give
us a subscribe. If you're watching and you haven't.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
Already, what are you doing my nose? Get around it?

Speaker 3 (16:47):
Come on, we got were getting too that four K.

Speaker 4 (16:49):
We want to hit it before the Ashes starts and
there's going to be Like you mentioned, the socials are
going to be absolutely ramped to the brim throughout this series,
the whole India tour and heading.

Speaker 1 (16:59):
Yeah, stay tuned for the Ashes because it's going to
be massive. But give us a like on YouTube.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
Ding the bell as well? Is that what they say?
Ding the bell? The bell ring ring.

Speaker 4 (17:10):
Like you do ring a bell, you ring a doorbell,
but you don't ring a bell in that's a conspiracy.

Speaker 3 (17:17):
Let us know your conspiracy theories in the comments.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
Also check out the socials as well. As I mentioned
at the top of the show, Cricket Today, a you
thank you Marcus for coming on.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
Well thanks Leo did a very good job hosting from what.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
O thank you mate, appreciate it. Yeah, that's another rap
for Cricket Today. Done, so we'll see you soon.
