They're nowhere to be seen. But we've gone upgrade today.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
We've got Tom Clark or Tom from Punder some people
on Tom, thanks you for coming on.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
Mate, on well, thanks for having me back. I think
the last time I was on was for the T
twenty World Cup last year. Yes, that's right, Yeah, so yeah,
it's good to be back.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
I actually think you know a lot more about cricket
than those other two knuckleheads anyway.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
And you've prepared yourself very well. You've got notes galore, You're.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
You're the most prepared person probably ever on this show,
so I'm absolutely I love that, mate.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
It's great to be back. I love talking about crickets.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Beautiful Yeah yeah, actually self proclaimed cricket enough anyway, So.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
I am unfortunately or fortunately here.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
You look at very nice.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Good to have you here and make sure you feel
every play and be right in the action throughout a
massive Ozzie summer of cricket with tab Touch.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
It's almost over. The Big Bash is done.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
Obviously it's over in Australia, but we've still got some
tests and things like that, and then the women's Ashes.
Obviously we're going to talk about so very excited for
that big show. As we chat about the BBL Final
last night, that was absolutely awesome, probably one of the
best matches as a neutral to watch off for the
whole season. The Aussie is dominating the women's ashes. We've
got some big questions ahead of Australia vers Stralnka starting tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
You've been arguing a week with you mate.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
You were telling me about Australia westral Anka. Got some
big points to cover.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Definitely, we've got some stuff to go through.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Very nice and then we've got some cricket news going
through our best and worst players of the Big Bash
season and as always some fun fan comment slash questions.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Even if they're positive negative, we love them.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
But in the TikTok two English guys are not happy
with us to bagging the Wisdom cricket team, but we'll
get into that before we start. Make sure you get
right around the show on Spotify, Apple Podcasts. Subscribe to
the YouTube channel. Usually I get Marcus to tell us
what we're on, but I think last night we got

Speaker 1 (01:46):
And keep you on up on the YouTube to make
sure you subscribe to that, and as well as all

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Are you all right? Quick single?
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Lea's not here so he can make this go as
long as we want. He always wants this to go
for about two minutes. But you've got some good talking
points in here anyway. First one, I want to talk
about Tom in the quick single. Tom Current in the
Abbi Dhrby League the T twenty League was called wandering
out of his crease, very similar to Johnny Bearstow. He
wasn't given out, but they ran him out. What are
your thoughts on this one man?
Speaker 3 (02:22):
This was more out than the Johnny bearsto which was out. Yes,
that was genuinely out. He just wandered out and then
the keeper took the stumps. Yeah, I mean, what's going
on over in England. They're not teaching them how to
play cricket. They invented the rules they exactly, So you're
just bizarre. I mean, it's obviously been a big summer
for Tom Curran coming big Bash straight over to Abu Dhaby,
(02:43):
but it was just bizarre, mate.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
He's always in a bit of controversy current. He ran
through the umpire last year like this one. I thought
they're all sort of arguing on the field and things
like that. You got to give it out, like you
knowing cricket. I remember playing all the senior guys I played.
If the junior playing and they walk out of the crease,
the senior go with try and warn them behind something,
I'm going to run you out, may I'm going to
run you out staying increase.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
It's a very like it's like a junior cricket thing.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
I don't know, it's one of the first things that
you talked to, but I mean, you know there's something
going on over in the UK trying to sneak singles
or you know, not concentrating exactly. But yeah, mate, it
was bizarre and it was given not out, which is the.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
Yeah, I reckon the umpires need to grow a pair
of balls a little bit and just give it out
in the rules is out, So I don't know why
they didn't give it out.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Maybe the Abu Dhabi League has their own order of rules.
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Yeah, pretty crazy from Tom Current over in Abadhabi. Next
one in the quick single, Travis Head. I just read
this this morning and I was talking to you about
it before. He's suggesting in the Sri Lanka Test for
Australia of a Sri Lanka that in the middle of
a match, between innings they change the batting order. So
usually you go into a match list out your batting order.
I don't know that's very traditional. And then the second
thing is you just have the same one even if
(03:50):
it doesn't work out well. But he's saying maybe change
it up in the middle of a test. Is that
a bit erratic or what do you think to look I.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
Think it's probably a bit of a beat up. He's
probably just trying to get into the heads of all team,
or maybe a bit of a media beat up. I
actually don't hate it. If they do do end up
changing up the order. I don't hate it, you know,
depending on how the spinners are performing and you know
who the bats are. But yeah, look, personally, I wouldn't
read into it too much.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Also, I don't think Travis Head is the mastermind behind
the Australian cricket like I'm actually I'm glad Smith's heading
over because I don't know about him being a captain.
He'd be too laid back and there'd be three we
were talking about the others, God, there be three guys
under the lid or like just weird field placements. He'd
be it's all right, we'll get it done. So him
saying all this, he said a lot the last week
or so about different things for the Aussie team. I
(04:34):
don't know if he's the mastermind.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
Honestly, mate, I wouldn't read into it.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Yeah, yeah, I feel good, but yeah, it would be
fun to watch.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
And as we've talked about, these Test matches don't meet
as much as they could have because we're already in
the World Test Final. So they might change it up,
maybe reverse the order. Nathan Lyon and Scott Bowland were
putting on fifty run partnerships.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
So saying that. How good would it be to see
Travis Head and bow Webster open the battle anyway, We'll
wait and see how.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
That would be.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Nuts anyway, that starts to morrow actually, which we're very
excited on. You were talking about this, You've been keeping
a heavy eye on this. The women's ashes. How good
the Assis just dominating the Poms. We just dominated him
in the men's We dominated him in the women's and
the women's team you can say that their Australia's most
consistent sporting team ever.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
I reckon just unbelievable that the women's ashes.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
It's been fantastic to watch and they were under the
pump early on in the One Days. You know, England
played pretty good cricket, but they just found a way.
And like how good's Alana King been? You know, so
great to watch and she's an absolute star. And the
Nash Gardner as well, been fantastic, making a big hundred
yep in the One Days and then yeah, it's great
to see the English media turn on their own. I mean,
(05:40):
they love giving it to us when the time comes
in the men's as well, so it's good to see
English media turn.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
Well, even the English media and the Aussie media was
everyone was sort of saying this this ashes would be
a bit more competitive.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
I don't know if it was.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
The Aussie is sort of trying to say, oh, like
in case they lose a match or two, but they've
just been smashed every single game. They've still haven't won
a match. And then they're heading into to the test
match of the g which is gonna be very exciting.
You want to head to that on Thursday night.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
I'm heading to that. That'd be great to watch. And
you know what the best thing about the women's is
it's not the traditional guns that have dominated the series.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
Yeah. True.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
You know, Annabelle Sutherland's been in great Nick however she
hasn't had a great series. Alyssa here he's been out
as well, So it's been it's been good to watch.
And yeah, it doesn't matter what any sport. Yeah, women's
Australia dominating England as well, it's always great to watch.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
Absolutely absolutely, Yeah, that's going to be so exciting at
the g We're going to be doing a bit of
coverage for that and yeah, very very excited for that. Finally,
in the quick single Lately, Leo is going to be
commenting in a second saying that this has gone too long,
but we'll keep it going.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
We'll keep it going.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
The biggest talking point over this week so far has
been the Hurricanes they win their first ever Big Bash title.
The Cane Train Leo was doing Chew Choo's all night
last night, which she was trying to make he was
trying to make Jell behind the.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
Camera do a chew choo out't I was like, just
shut up, come on mate.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Ah. And then yet we've been calling on the horror chains.
We had the chains on last night in the in
the live stream, which was good fun. So thank you
everyone for jumping on the live stream.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
They've won their first ever title.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Who does that leave as the only team in Big
Bash history not to win a title?
Speaker 2 (07:05):
Time?
Speaker 3 (07:07):
Well, I'm trying to think heats Strikers, Scorches of all one,
Thunder of one, the Canes of one? Now six is one?
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Early?
Speaker 3 (07:15):
Is that just the Stars?
Speaker 2 (07:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Have the one one?
Speaker 1 (07:17):
Yeah, that's the Stars And they should have won in
twenty nineteen when the Renegades beat them.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
The Renegades flipped the whole game.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
Game seven for nineteen. That's just funny now, so that
I'm glad the Hurricanes won because now we can bag
the Stars even more. They've always had that really good team.
And then for one but the Hurricanes, the crowd was awesome.
We'll get into that in a second. But just very
happy that they've finally won their first title because ho
but yeah, they love their sportswn they do it. It's
gone well down there.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Yeah, they always turn out and it was great to
watch last night.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
It was all right on that. That's enough for the
quick single. Let's get into the BBL final rap and
talking points. Also, we'll get into the Big Man at
the moment, but we'll start off with the Thunder. They
got off to a flight none for one hundred and nine.
Everyone's thinking, oh, this could be a cruizy win for
the Thunder. Sango was sixty seven or forty two? John Sanger.
I was going to touch on him, he sort of had.
He had a few injuries. He dropped off a little bit.
(08:05):
I think he's twenty five now. Leo was suggesting last
night that he could still play for Australia. I don't
know about that. But he's a very solid cricketer. He's
a very when he gets going.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
Yeah, and he obviously had a big rappers of junior. Yes,
making a heap of runs in the new South Wales
great cricket. Look last night he was, you know, hitting
good shots.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Last night he was making any gunshots. Yeah, take some
notes on I reckon.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
The biggest thing that I saw was him and Warner
were running twos like everyone else has been running singles
in the tournament. And that's why they got off to
a flyer in my opinion. You know, they were turning
pressure ones into twos and then when him and Warner
went out, it kind of fell away from there. But
because they set up such a good platform, Yeah, they
still managed a pretty respectable score.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
I think we also talked about, like, especially in T
twenty cricket, running between the wickets. There's so many players
that sort of just like jogged through, or Warner as
a lead at it and then saying I didn't think
he was that quick. But they were absolutely palents with
you the wickets. But yeah, none for one hundred and
nine now absolutely flying, and then they did their best
stars impressions cumbered for seven for seventy four. After that, Look,
(09:06):
that's not good at all, Like you look at their
top order if contest was playing.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
That would have helped him a little bit.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
Billings probably needed to chip in for a few more,
but seven for seventy four after that, that's cost him
the game. They should have made two hundred plus and
then it would have put more pressure on the Hurricanes.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
It was really disappointing after getting off to such a
great start. But Nathan Ellis was fantastic.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
Oh, it was so good.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
Three wickets didn't go for a boundary. Hi, just sensation
as a skipper. And you know what, I think the
Hurricanes just turned it on once the first couple of
wickets fell.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
Yeah, so I think Meredith and Alice combined for six
for fifty, which is bloody awesome. The two like sort
of funny, well, two of the funniest fast bowling actions.
Nathan Alice when he puts his arms up like this
and I don't know how he runs in like that
and he sort of uses both of his arms to
buy I don't understand it is that and then Riley
Meredith I think he got one of his Yorkers to
I think it was Billings that he got a wicket.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
One hundred and forty eight k's. You just love to
see that.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
The other thing that we're talking about in the Live
last night was can either of them come back into
the Australian team.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
Nathan Ellis and he seems like a really good.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
Leader Ellis definitely. Yeah, he's a very very good player.
Nathan Ellis, he has been for a long time now
in the Big Bash, kind of launched onto the scene.
Has he played internationals. I think he's played a couple
of games.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
He's played a fair few tea twenties and then I
think a couple of one days.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
Yeah, Look I see him as Australian cricketer with the
white ball.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
I love watch him.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
He's got one of the better Yorkers in the Big
Bash and he's done it for a long time. So
now he's a BBL, you know, winning Captaine Championship captain.
I think, yeah, he's probably ready to take the next
step in cement himself. Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
And then I think Stornus always says that rig bas election.
I think I saw him holding the trophy. I was like, geez,
he's got bigger guns than I thought.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
Nathan.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
He's a good looking rooster. There we go.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
He's actually played eight ody eyes and twenty T twenty
international so he's got a pretty solid career, was the
average sixteen with the ball in T twenty International. So
I think he got injured in one of the World Cups,
then he got dropped for another one. I think he
will be yeah, looking for for a little while in
the short format, which is good fun. But who cares
about all that even know why we spent that long
(11:01):
talking about all the rest of the players. We've got
to talk about Mitch Moose. Oh and nbastra Gym was
in the comments last night colin him Moose. So everyone
last night in the comments was calling him Moose. So
now his nickname is Moose, just because he's so big
and strong. He went absolutely ballistic, Tom, that was probably
the best innings I've watched in twenty in a very
long time. I was almost going to say ever, because
it was just in a final awesome.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
It was sensation. You know, I can't remember a better
big bash knock, probably going back to Craig Simmons when
he made that massive hundred at the Whacker. But you know,
that was some of the best hitting I've seen from
Maxwell's double hundred. Yeah, you know, in the world couple
of years ago, he just came out with a plan
just to hit the ball to the fence and.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
Like a like A I was gonna say baseball or golf, Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
Cricket, but cricket's a pretty funny game. He just came
out with a really simple plan to whack it and hit.
He hit eleven six eleven six is in a you know,
he faced what forty odd balls yep, and he hit
eleven sixes.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
He was unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
I mean he's been sensational the whole tournament and you know,
kudos to him. He bought it on the big, big stage.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
Yeah, in the final.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
So he's got one hundred and eight or forty two balls,
the third fastest Big Bash fifty.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
So that was showing the stats there.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
That was reminiscent back to Chris Gale has the fastest
ever fifty and Big Bash with twelve balls.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
That was prime Big Bash.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
I think Dre Russ was killing at Chris Gale was
killing and he had the awesome under Marvel Stadium.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
You can't believe you can even do that off twelve balls.
He was just standing delivering.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
But then he has the equal fastest BBL Sentury Mitchell
and off thirty nine balls. With the man you just
mentioned the truck, Craig Simmons. I swear he just popped
up a Big Bash and then just left like I
think he worked in the mines or something like that
that was shown last night and then he just came
in for the Big Bash. I think he made two
of the fastest hundreds ever and then just dipped.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
He only just finished playing great cricket in West Australia
last year. Really took took a big seven for made
a hundred in one of his last games.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
Would just say seven.
Speaker 3 (12:49):
I think so it rings a bell the bo spin
left spinning a little bit in the Big Bash.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
Yeah, yeah he did, that's right.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
Yeah, but he was absolutely sensational in the crowd were
getting into.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
It as crowd for che was they Chen Mitchell? That
was that was so good.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
We were doing some chance on life. But yeah, they
were going as well as the crowd. That was the
loudest Big Beast crowd, I reckon we've had in years.
I think there was used to be sellouts at the
g and things like that. But even if it was
only he got nineteen to twenty zeros, they were the
loudest crowd, I reckon we've heard of the big Bach
in a long time and Tazzy they deserve it. They
they they're in a good spot at the moment, Tazzy.
Last year they won the jack Jumpers in the basketball
(13:25):
or we're talking about that then obviously they've won this.
They've got an AFL team on the way. They just
they just love life at the moment. Tas Manians. Yeah,
but Mitchell deserved chance. He's actually from Hobart. He used
to go to every Hobart Hurricanes game. He had the
big afro, this purple afro that he used to wear
and there was a little photo of him as a
little chubby kid some of his mates on the hill.
(13:46):
So the fact that he's doing that in his hometown
just bloddy awesome.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
He was no other way to describe it. He was sensation.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
Yeah. I think even Gerald act producer got out of
his chair for a few of the sixers. That's how
that's how well Mitchell was bunning. So that was absolutely awesome.
This is the one I want to bring up. Leo
put this on one of the social posts. Check that
out on Cricket today. Are you should he be in
the Aussie side in the near future?
Speaker 2 (14:06):
Yes, yep. Is that is that just easy?
Speaker 3 (14:08):
Is that clear?
Speaker 2 (14:09):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (14:09):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
Could we somehow injure someone like that English suspicious injury
a couple of years ago last year when he are
the golf ententry, can we injure someone just to get
him in the Champions Trophy team. I wouldn't mind seeing
him in that, even just in the squad.
Speaker 3 (14:21):
Yeah, he'll get in. He'll get in there, yeah, because
I mean, look at the next couple of years, there's
gonna be guys drop off like Smith Usman, stuff like that.
I know, they don't play a heap of white ball cricket, but.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
They usually are in the World Cup squads or Traphye squads.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
Yeah, and look, you know Smith Labashane Usman, there's a
few others that are coming towards end. You know, Cary's
getting a bit older now, Yep, he'll definitely come in.
He's only twenty three, so he's got at least ten
years ago.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
Keith forgetting now young because like he sort of shot
up so quickly. Obviously he was good at state level
and then now he's been killing it at a big batch.
But he hasn't ever dominated like in the big batch,
like he has this year, like he's just yeah, so
Ozzie team. He could be a sneaky good opener like
it's everyone was saying Matt Shorts that next sort of
white ball.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
But he hasn't perform for Australia.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
If he drops off, bring Hardy might drop off, you
bring Mitchel on him.
Speaker 3 (15:05):
It could be pretty good with Jack phrase.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
Mcgirk's probably the one that I really want to as
we'll touch on in a second, I really want Jake
Frasing McGirk to do well, but I don't know if
that's gonna happen just yet.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
Yeah, he'll play for Australia though, I'm pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
Yeah he will. He will because they do believe in him.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
And as he showed that last match in the bit,
he has the capabilities just be a bit smarter, hit
along the ground. Like as well mentioned before Jason Sanger,
most of his shots are along the ground. Yeah, playing
smart cricket, Yeah, simple as that. Uh. In the end,
the Hurricanes, they cruised to a seven wicket win at
Ninja Stadium. The crowd was going absolutely off. They were
doing laps I think for like over an hour after
the game. With the trophy, every I think every single
(15:40):
person in Hobart has has a photo with the trophy.
Just they were all loving it down there, so good on.
I'm happy they've got their first ever title. The Cane
train has got it done. Anyway, that's our BBL final
wrap talking points. Let's get into our BBL Cricket Today awards.
This was a bit of an im prop to you
late call here, but two awards that I want to
touch on is the Player of the Season for the
big back and then the Flop of the Season Tom
(16:02):
Player of the Season view or anyone honorable mentions and
things like that.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
For me, I had Mitchell Hollens just in front yep
before last night, okay, and then after last night he's
just rocketed for me as the MVP. You know, he
got a new opportunity up the top. Ye he made
a great one hundred against the Scorches yep, which similar
to last night, he just came out with the plan
and started whacking it.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
He was absolutely amazing the thing. Until last night he'd
only had one score over fifty. However, he'd had a
lot in the late thirties and.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
Forties, which is like, I agree that that's like a
fifty and twenty yeah, if you're getting thirties, yeah yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:34):
And the way he was hitting the ball, like he
just came out and absolutely whacked it. So when he
went out, you know, the scorches are on sixty runs
and then the others could kind of consolidate and get
themselves in that and didn't have to go from ball
one yep. And for me, he chipped in with a
couple of wickets when he was needed he did.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
And the icing on the cake was his fielding, Like
he is an excellent fielder, and that's why you know
he's my MVP, just because you know, he's not an
outstanding bowler. He's not going to come in and get
five or six fast yep, but he's going to be serviceable.
He's great in the field and obviously he wax it
at them.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
Nah, greatful, great col I think, yeah, Mitchell Moose, we
hold him still, especially after last night. I know some
awards they go back to like just the regular season,
but we've got to count the finals when you're clutching
the finals and things like that. I want to give
a shout to Coober Connolly. I know the scorches were
really bad, but I think he was the most consistent player.
They'd lose early wickets, he'd come in straight away make
a forty odd. I think he would have. He averaged
(17:23):
fifty this season, three edge and fifty runs. He had
six wickets when he had to chip him with the ball.
I thought he was awesome as well. So if the
Scorches sort of had a bit of a run in
the finals, I reckon he could have got that Player
of the season. And then I'm trying to think who
else is up there. David Warner pretty solid as well.
He was really consistent. I think he made thirty or
forty almost every single game other than that duck he
made in the finals.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
But yeah, anyone else from.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
Him a bit of a smoke.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
He was been dwarfhous Oh yes, actually we were talking
about him. He's being the best all rounder in the camp.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
Yeah, yeah, like he you know, he's been a very
good bawl for a long time. Yeah, a good domestic bowler,
good BBO bowler. But he chipped him with the bat.
I think he hit a six is for the tournament. Now,
someone coming in at seven and eight. It was fantastic,
And you know he's been around for a while. He
took twelve wickets. Great mustache, great mustache it do. And
finally as well, I think Tom Rodgers Renegades.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
Yes, oh here we go. I thinks he is the
luckiest cricketer to get that many wickets.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
I think.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
I think he actually had a solid season. He got
a lot of wickets.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
He was the only Renegades player to obviously make the
Team of the tournament, the official one.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
He did, and he had that knock against the Scorches
where him and Sutherland, yes, dragged them back from the brink.
No one thought they were going to win that game,
including watching a live So yeah, I got to give
a shout out to him. But yeah, I thought it
was probably the year of the underdog.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
This year.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
It was VPS. You know, we thought that Connolly, Owens
and Dwarshes and Rogers. Yeah for the MVP.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
So Bear North ended up getting the most wickets. But yeah,
I don't think I can give it to him. He
was sort of a bit up and down with the
Scorches and stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
I don't mind wash. I'm having a look at his stats.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
Fourteen wickets average, thirty six point five at the bat
this season just Boody also has a great call. I
did forget about him because I loved him in Supergroat.
He would just come in with the bat, hits some bombs.
How many sixers did he end up with? OK?
Speaker 3 (19:08):
Eight or nine or so?
Speaker 2 (19:09):
Ten? T that's awesome for your number? What was he
bet eight or so?
Speaker 3 (19:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (19:13):
Yeah, that's absolutely awesome. So Gohore called there, I'll definitely
agree with you. Though, Mitch Owen Moose Owen has to
be player of the Season for cricket today. The other
side of it, Flop of the Season will start.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
Off with the team.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
Now usually this is sort of kept in the space
for the Stars, but they actually ended up a right.
They made the finals. They went on a five game
win streaks that was absolutely awesome. Who we think and
flop of the season time. We talked about a little
bit of this before the show.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
What do you reckon?
Speaker 3 (19:38):
I think the Scorches scored Yeah, I think just because
they started off scorching hope, they were flying the first
couple of games, you know, Morrison brandorfh up and about.
I thought they were great and then it was like
they look the switch and just capitulated. I think the
Renegades game where Sutherland and Rogers came back that would
have been debilitating for them. And yeah, they lost a
(19:59):
few two Sri Lanka like Connolly and stuff like that.
Mitch Marsh didn't perform at all.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
They're batting I think it wasn't even dooe with their bowling.
Lance Morris as we talked about before, it was awesome.
Bearing off was pretty solid and then you've got a
field even Connelly got some wickets. They're batting outside of
Connolly like which we'll touch on some players like hard
are you? They always reliant with the bat and the
Bolt did nothing. Van Allen did nothing. Mitch Mass when
he came in, has forgotten out of bat Actually, what's
(20:25):
going on with Mitch Marsh?
Speaker 2 (20:26):
Tom, Look, I don't know, it's like he's forgotten how
to play cricket.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
I mean he had a pretty good run for eight
eight months. Yeah, but you can't stay in form forever.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
And that's true.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
I think he's dropped out. But I'm back him. Maxim runs.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
If you'll come back, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
I don't know if he'll come back in the Aussie team,
but just he'll definitely do well in state level and
you know, potentially force his way back in.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
Yeah, and then on the Scorches as the flop of
the season. They actually have made the finals every year
since twenty nineteen and then they've only missed the finals
I think twice in fourteen season. They've just been the
benchmark of the Big Bash. They're only just missed out
by one game, but they lost their last four, So
that's I agree that with the team they have on paper,
it's a toss of the coin between the Scorches and
(21:06):
the Renegade. I thought the Renegade should have done a
lot better with the team they had. You got Bethel
amazing young player, Rais McGirk amazing young player. You've got
Will Suttler and I think one of the best all
rounded in the country. So yeah, yeah, in the yeah
Kiwi as well. So I do agree with the Scorches
that their team is just built.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
For big Bass cricket and they didn't make the final,
So flop of the season there in terms of flop
of the season for the players.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
Now, the start of the summer we were like, this
is the year of Jake Fraser McGirk, the rooster.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
We've got the rooster markets.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
Sitting over there that Marcus usually wears well like this
is the time for Jake Fraiser McGirk sadly, I think
he's on the at least on the podium for the
flop of the season.
Speaker 3 (21:42):
Yeah, he was extremely underwhelming for someone with so much
talent he does. You know, if if he had a
pretty good series similar to what miche Owen's has done,
I reckon he would be on the planet Sri Lanka.
I reckon I would Yeah, I think so.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
I mean that's a big call.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
Well, you know Warner fifteen years ago, twenty years ago,
whenever he came in similar he just came out with
a bang dominated and they just picked him. Obviously, circumstances different.
We weren't great in the Test side then. But I
think he's good enough to play at Test level. He
obviously hits the ball hard, has a great eras goo
enough to play Test level, I reckon years Yeah, I
don't know.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
I think I don't think he is.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
I think they would have picked him to go Schlankers.
We had a really big series.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
He is a solid player against Bin it's just obviously
out of form and things like that.
Speaker 3 (22:26):
Yeah, he has experience in the subcontinent in the IPL. True,
I had a great IPL last year. I think some
teams around the world would have been a bit concerned.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
Oh yeah, big bash, he had two million or something.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
Like that, but he l The only thing going for
him was that ninety he made in the last game.
He absolutely whacked it and that's what we're kind of
expecting every game. But he had some pretty soft doubts.
That's why for me he was signed. Awhelming.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
Yeah, we talked about his off season where just hit
along the ground, mate, like he just hits. He tries
to hit every ball in the air and then on
the leg side, they'll put three guys.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
On the boundary and he hit it straight to him.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
He didn't that about it or four times this season
as you touched on, he did make that ninety What
was his top ninety six? Ninety six I actually hadn't
updated on their website. He had ninety three runs in
the entire season before that, so just not good enough
average ten before that last game as well. They actually
have renegans haven't put his stats in I reckon because
they don't want that. They don't want to update it
because he hasn't had a good season, But you're right,
(23:21):
I think he's the fop of the season. You've got
Aaron Hardy. He did miss the first half of the
season with injury, so I might I might let him off.
Tom Rodgers from look, Tom Rodgers is probably very lucky
that he's not the Stars. Tom Rodgers starts Tom Rodgers.
There's too many there's play in Melbourne. They're both called
Tom Rodgers, which is just so confusing. Tom Rodgers from
the Stars. I think he had thirty six total runs
(23:43):
for the season and he kept opening what surely you
can get dropped in the big batch, Like do they
do not have enough depth of things like that.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
I'm not sure. But you said before that he played
a lot, did really well at the lower levels.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
Yeah, he's made a heap of runs in Great creat
Cricket and things like that.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
Yeah, but I mean it doesn't translate obviously from Gamel
and they tried to move him the middle order a
bit and you know it didn't work.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
But I'm backing him in to come back and make
him run last year.
Speaker 2 (24:07):
I reckon he might get dropped. Oh, actually depends what
his contract is.
Speaker 1 (24:10):
But I don't know if I can give him another
because we called Sam Harper and and Tom Rodgers at
the top of the order for the start of the decoys.
You give, they give the other opposition hope and then
they then they bring him Max in starts and go,
oh crap, the stars are actually good. But so we
go and then the last one for the flop z
and he's on the podium. I reckon as well, fin Allen,
what the hell is going on there? He got out
second ball I think three times in this season where
(24:32):
he hit a boundary and then get our second ball.
A lot of hype for the for him at the
sat of the season, but he just I don't know,
he needs to slow it down a little bit.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
I think what he touched on. He had so much
hype we heard about this guy. You know, he's got
the tats, cool looking. I thought he was going to
come in and dominate and he didn't. And you know,
probably with the team around him as well, they struggled
a bit. I think he got a couple of fifties
as well, but at the end of the season, I think, yeah,
I think he got two fifties. He did, Yeah, he
actually didn't reach twenty out those two fifties. I mean
(25:01):
he's obviously on the big bucks to go over there.
He's a bit disappointing, but again, you know, these guys
get picked for a reason because they're good players. So
you know, if he does come back, I'm backing him.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
Into it's a weird one into twenty cricket, where you
can be paid a lot of money for a couple
of weeks of cricket. To say, you're coming over from
another country. You might only be here for two weeks
in Australia or India or whatever, and you're getting paid
a lot of money. You could you could make a
duck every game and then you go, see take all
the money and just go. It's a bit different to
the other sort of brands of cricket, isn't it. So yeah,
I don't know, I don't know about that, but anyway,
(25:31):
they'll be kicking themselves scorches because they probably were banking
on him to make a few runs and there one
of the other other player should have made runs.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
Too, so it wasn't just his flop.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
Overall though, what a great bbl fortn't I mean, it's
been fantastic. The crowds have come back. Yeah, you know,
guys like Owen and you know, Connery getting an opportunity.
A bit of the new brigade have come through this year.
I've really noticed, and I.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
Think it's a resurgence of the entire competition. Like a
lot of people are very quick to bag the big
Bash or say it's not really working. But I think
I went to a Melbourne Doe last year where it
was about twelve thousand people there. Both the Darbies this
year had forty thousand plus, which is awesome. Yeah, I
think it's been pretty good.
Speaker 3 (26:06):
It was great and obviously, you know, all sports struggled
in the COVID era and now have come out of it,
and I think there's some real stars backplane, which we
probably missed that in the last couple of years. So yeah,
it's been fantastic.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
Good coll mate.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
All Right, we're about halfway through here before we get
into all things Ozzie Test cricket, which I know you're
very keen to talk about, Tom. Make sure to check
out tab Touch well. They are sports markets which cover
every cricket match this season. Got the touch download tab
Touch today. I think is this a bet? You really
want a place for free and confidential support called one
eight hundred eight five eight eight five eight or VI
is it gambling help online dot org dot au. All right,
(26:41):
the big match is officially done. The cane trains get
the job done. Let's get into some Test cricket. I
can't believe there's more Test cricket.
Speaker 3 (26:46):
It's amazing.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
I love it. I love it.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
That's just we've gone straight from a month of a
couple months in Australia, been absolutely awesome.
Speaker 2 (26:52):
Now we hed to Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka versus Australia.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
Big questions here, I know that's all you like to
do around the office with your mates, that cricket on
the weekend, Tom, you just like to pond of things
about cricket Australia or anything to do with that. So
first one up, we're going to do big questions. We'll
talk them through. Who should open the batting? This is
the big question. You've got Constance and Aussie obviously opened
the batting the last opening pair over the summer.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
You've got Travis Head saying he could possibly open.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
You've got Steve Smith in the past was going to open,
but don't think that's going to happen anymore. Who do
you think should open the batting or any.
Speaker 2 (27:21):
Other thoughts on that.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
For me, I think Travis Head needs to open needs
to me because you know the Shrilankins, they're a bit
of an unknown. A lot of their guys haven't played
a heap test cricket. Yep. You know, Travis Head is
just so confident in the Subcontinent. He's made a lot
of runs there with the white ball.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
I think he opens with Orsman in my opinion.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
Wow, yeah, I'm so torn on that because I do
think he could do a good job. But he's been
so good in that sort of middle order, top top
to middle order that I don't know if I want
to change that. He's been probably our best bet in
there by absolutely might like no one else I'm really
confident in making runs.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
Is he going to do the same thing as Opener.
I'm trying to have a look.
Speaker 3 (27:59):
At his The only the only thing that's a real
concern I think for me is to having two left
handers and not having a left and right hand opening. Yeah, true,
purely is just to put off the bats off the ball.
So yeah, you spin, you know, if there's a left
arm spinner taking it away, you know, Usman can face
him because the spin's coming in. Or you know, let's
say Constance was to open and there's a right arm spinner. Yep,
(28:20):
he can come in and face you know, the ball
spinning back in. But I think for me it's Travis Head.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
Yep, no open. I don't mind that.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
I still sort of want to put Constance in just
because I feel like he's a decent player of spin.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
He I don't know.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
I feel like he could play really attacking just from
ball once, similar to Travis Head. I feel like people
are saying if Travis Heads at the top already can
put pressure back on, I feel like Concerts can do that.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
But and again, it's not like we need to win
these tests. I think we will. But either way, whatever
the opening baiting partnership is, I feel like I just.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
Want to see I think it's just because I want
to see more Constance. Yeah, like I'm happy with that
Travis Head is he's making runs. Do you think there's
a chance Constants will stay or is he more in
a squad role?
Speaker 3 (28:57):
Now I've actually got Constance in my team.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
Really, actually, do you want to do?
Speaker 1 (29:01):
You want to read out your team? So this is
this is my eleven just in your batting on stuff done.
Speaker 3 (29:06):
So this is my eleven. So Usman, Trav Marnus at three,
Smith at four, Constance at five.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
What's the reason in there?
Speaker 3 (29:14):
I think just putting him, you know, behind marnuson Smith.
I mean like they're obviously they've been around for years.
Usmand as well has a lot of history in the subcontinent,
played well against Pakistan and has scored some runs against India.
I think either Constance or Connolly to about at five.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
Oh, actually, I wouldn't mind seeing Connolly changing it up.
Speaker 3 (29:34):
I'll keep going through my team.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
Sounds good.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
And then we've got Webster at six. He picks himself,
Kerry Stark, Murphy, Lion Bowland. So two front line spinners,
Webster and potentially Connolly or Constace. I think it's dependent on,
you know, how dry the Wicked is going to be
and if it's going to absolutely yeah, okay, because you
know Webster, Murphy and Lion they all spin it the
(29:57):
same way.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
Yeah, you need Connolly to change it up. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
Kernerman has been training, but he just like added his
somewhat two or three weeks.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
Yeah, he had surgery. Apparently he's on track. To be
available for selection. But I like that is a little
bit of a risk. Ya, he's just had surgery.
Speaker 3 (30:11):
It is a risk, and I think that opens the
door for Connolly. If Constance is stiff to miss out,
you know, I think bad luck. It's Test cricket, right.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
I agree with that. Yeah, and you're got to adjust
to the different countries and things like that.
Speaker 3 (30:25):
Yeah, exactly, I do.
Speaker 1 (30:26):
Want to see a few more ram slots, like just
pretty Actually there might not be as many ramshots if
they're balance every over.
Speaker 3 (30:30):
But yeah, well that's the thing. I mean, he's a
bit of an unknown Constance.
Speaker 1 (30:35):
You know.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
Test cricket. It's a completely different game. As we know,
it's a completely different game batting in Australia versus the Subcontinent.
I know Connolly also doesn't have an experience in subcontinent,
but he gives you more in the field and ended the.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
Yeah, you've actually broken that down pretty well. This is
the most knowledgeable stuff I've ever had on the right
side of me on this show.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
This is very good.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
Bad Luckily.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
I reckon, I reckon, they're out o lfe. I reckon.
That's that's easy done.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
Ah.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
And then the next one I wanted to ask.
Speaker 1 (31:02):
You've already sort of touched on who you wanted in
your team, but how many quick bowlers do we need?
Speaker 2 (31:06):
So?
Speaker 1 (31:07):
I think was it justin Lang or someone was talking
on Brad Hodge was talking about it. There's going to
be just say, there's one hundred and thirty overs they
need to fill to bowl. One hundred of those at
least are going to be spinned. You could get twenty
overs out of Scobo probably and then you might need
ten or twenty overs out of your likes of Webster
or someone else that's sort of that part time spinner.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
Maybe Connolly can chip in as well. So how many
quicks do we need? You reckon? Just the one?
Speaker 3 (31:30):
I think too too, Okay? I think Stark and Boland
for me.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
The reason being is Stark is a genuine wicket taker.
He bowls quick, he can come around the wicket if
the ball's reversing, he can get the ball to reverse
yep as well. And then Bowland. I mean he's just
a workhoorse bowling from I love watching him. So yeah,
he can probably bowl up front, and then you've got
Webster that can bowl seam up and then come bowl
spin later.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
Actually, Web's the good bowl that's going to be so
fun to watch.
Speaker 1 (31:55):
I just realized that he could bowl pace and spin,
which he's done for state level obviously in the Aussie team.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
Even had that in a very very long time.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
Actually, yeah, and he had the earring as well. Maybe
Webster dice his hair blue possibly, What what color would
he go?
Speaker 1 (32:10):
I don't know, Maybe a green green for Tazzy, Yeah, yeah,
of a hoein the Actually there's a big purple for
the Canes, the Canes they just won.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
Maybe that would be wild. So yeah, you're saying too,
I don't mind that.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
There was like a lot of chat going around about
Stark com Obviously Comes isn't playing, but Stark is coming
back from an injury. Apparently there's all the quicks except
for Ball and are coming back from an injury. I
do think they might go with ye Stark and Bold.
Speaker 3 (32:35):
I think, like you know, last time we played in India, Ceroneman,
Murphy and Line played in the same team and they
opened with Cameron Green who got smashed. Yeah, you know,
I think Webster's a bit of a different bowler the Green.
He kind of gets the balls through. Green's more of
a hit the surface kind of guy, whereas Webster's you know,
more kissed the wicket and try to get a bit
of same and stuff like that. I think you could
(32:56):
almost open if they do want to play three spinners
with Ceroneman, you could pick Bowland and.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
Webster yeah, and then Webster yeah, and.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
Then Webster can come on later on bowl and then
Connolly probably misses out for Constance.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
Yeah, and then that Webster open opening spell doesn't have
to be a long spell anyway, because like the balls
might get wrecked anyway.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
I have to look at it.
Speaker 1 (33:13):
I'm actually excited to see the pitch tomorrow. I think
it's three thirty our time in Melbourne, just to see it. Yeah,
the actual rank turners or things like that, so that'd
be interesting talking about the turn Which spinners are most
dangerous on these pictures. I would love to see Cooniman
play because I think he dominated over in the Subcontinent
last time, But again he's coming back from injury. So
are we leaning towards Lion Murphy.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
I think Connelly or.
Speaker 3 (33:38):
Murphy and Line kind of bowl similar Take the overspin,
yes right, not the spinet like the bounce, not side
spin like Cerman and Connolly. I mean, you know, he's
not a massive spinner of the ball, but it'll be
interesting to see. I'm not really sure as of yet.
Last time Travis Head took five far so yeah, that's right. Yeah,
(33:58):
so you never know. I mean Head could come in
and bowl a couple of overs as well.
Speaker 1 (34:01):
That's so.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
I mean we'll wait and see minus minus some Leggi's.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
Down the camera.
Speaker 1 (34:08):
This is for we don't I don't know if we
want to see Minus bowling, he will just get too
chirpy and if if.
Speaker 2 (34:12):
He gets a wicked he's gonna want to bowl everything.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
He could be a strike bowler.
Speaker 2 (34:15):
Same up.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
He thinks he can bowl one forty. I don't think
he's bled more than one twenty five.
Speaker 3 (34:20):
I think you know, Line and Murphy. I think we'll
just have to wait and see. Murphy bod really well
in India last time we toured there, so he was great. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
we'll wait and see. But I'm not sure yet.
Speaker 2 (34:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (34:29):
Probably I probably answered that question after a couple of days.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
What are you leaning towards before tomorrow if you're a selector.
If you were, if you put your George Bailey hat on,
which two spinners. Would you pick Murphy and Line Murphy Line,
I think be more experienced. Yeah, obviously they're just your.
Speaker 3 (34:44):
Best spinners, the best two spinners, So you pick those two.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
Yeah, and yeah, especially Murphy proved that he's just so
consistent he can get the spot every time, similar to
Nathan Line, and he'd be learning so much from Kaz
it's awesome.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
And finally, I mean pick him in the first test
and then you're playing at the same place.
Speaker 2 (34:59):
Yes, yeah, I talked about that.
Speaker 3 (35:01):
I mean, if you know it doesn't work, just change
it up for the second.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
Well they use they're going to use the same pitch,
but they might use the one directly next to it,
which could be the exact.
Speaker 3 (35:08):
Same which the guys could just scuff up the whole time. Yeah,
exactly playing that one. But yeah, I mean we'll wait
and see. But I think line them and Murphy for me. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (35:16):
And then finally I didn't put this in, but serious prediction.
What do you think those two tests? We've got a
quick series. What do you reckon austra I'm going to
Australia to zero to zip. Yeah, even though Schrilanka will
put up a fight, they're actually pretty solid I saw
they had a couple of good Test matches against New Zealand.
I think it was against England as well. Yeah, direcking
up on up a fight.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
I reckon they well, I think they will, but I
think Australia is going to be too good. You know,
it is kind of a dead rubber series.
Speaker 2 (35:38):
Yeah, the Test Championship, but it's still Test cricket.
Speaker 3 (35:41):
It's still the echelon of cricket. And you know that's
why I think Australia are going to pick their best
team because it's Test cricket. You don't gift games in
Test cricket, bang on and you know, losing to Sri
Lanka won one or maybe if Srilankatt you know, can
get up and beat us to zip. It's still Test cricket.
It's still the top echelon and these guys are proud
guys and I'm really backing them into Goo two zip
(36:02):
and have a really good hit out before the World
Test Championship.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
Yeah no, I really like that. It's really good in Australia.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
Actually, we talked about these other times, the first time
since nineteen ninety seven that an away trip other than
England is going to be on Channel seven and three away.
So a lot of people in Australia after that awesome
series against India is going to be watching so and it.
Speaker 3 (36:19):
Starts at a great time.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
That was a grade three thirty. What actually they'll finish
what time like ten? Beautiful?
Speaker 3 (36:25):
It's like the old wack of test.
Speaker 2 (36:26):
Yeah. Yeah, it's like a day night test for us.
Speaker 3 (36:28):
Yeah, it'd be great.
Speaker 2 (36:29):
That's awesome.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
So yeah, we'll be tuning into that. Make sure you
check out the socials. There'll be lots going off for that.
All right, that's enough for the Strilanka versus Australia. It's
actually some funny questions here the question slash van comments
that we always like to get into. You wouldn't have
experienced this, but there is some funny ones on here.
We'll start up with TikTok. I'm sure you would be
all over the Wisdom Cricket Test Team of the Year
Tom just before we started that, what were your thoughts
(36:50):
on that?
Speaker 2 (36:51):
Do I want to talk about it?
Speaker 3 (36:52):
I mean you know stats of stats, right, yeah, but
England plays so many more tests back and everyone.
Speaker 2 (36:58):
Else Also, why even is that? It's very weird how
that all works.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
Per Australia and South Africa. You're in the World Test
Championship final and no one's in the one was picked,
ye and I know Leo this is I know you
got annoyed at me the other day, but turn it up. Yeah,
got to pick in Australia.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
To turn it up on the show.
Speaker 1 (37:18):
At least if you're picking, someone has to be I'd
say Travis Head and then Pat Cummins is a sneaky
one as well. Yeah, come get an aussy in there.
Even one South African player surely deserves to. It's the
final anyway. On that Wisdy and Cricket Test Team, the
actually commented on a few about things on TikTok wisdom.
They've got a big thing, so thanks for that. We
might have to do a little bit of a club
on that'd be pretty cool with wisdom. Lee Johnston says
(37:41):
on TikTok, who does Head replaced in this team? This
blokes that average fifty five with combined ten tons or
the Bloker average seventy four with half of his innings
being fifty plus. I'm trying to figure out exactly who
he's talking about there. Yeah, I can't remember, but Leo
did go through the stats and all the English players
did average around that fifty five plus.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
So I don't know. I just want to fit him
in there somewhere. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (38:00):
I'm not talking this up too much though, Lee on
TikTok does make some good points in terms of the stats,
but they have a lot more tests to work with.
I think, Yeah, I don't know, we need to probably
do the math and the how they've played less tests.
Speaker 3 (38:15):
I don't know, Yeah, I don't know. I mean, look,
the Wisdom Test team came out what a couple of
weeks ago. Yeah, I'll tell my head, I can't remember. Yeah,
but I mean, you gotta pick, you gotta pick someone,
you gotta pick. I don't know. But it's like the
all Australian in the a f L. Right, you've got
to get someone to go out. So I understand, I
understand lest.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
None of you. Yeah, he's actually made a good point there.
Speaker 3 (38:37):
Yeah he's not Australian, but.
Speaker 1 (38:38):
He's definitely not OSSI and talking about another person that's
not aussy b fd BFD one two three. He just
says to convicts, not understand how this team the year works.
So he's called us convicts there. That's a well we
call we call on poms. I'm guessing he's an Englishman
because ein poms he can couse convicts.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
We'll cop that. That's a bit of a funny one
there on YouTube. We love this man.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
He comments on I think almost every single show at
Certified plumb boy, you had to give Giggle his name there.
He said, always knew the RCB of the Big Bash
with stuff it up. He's referencing that the Stars never
winning a title similar to RCB in the IPL, even
with extremely strong teams. Obviously, Colie has been there. Colie
and Maxwell have been there a lot for RCB, and
(39:17):
we actually have a lot of RCB people in the comments.
Got icc Jimbo, We've got because Leo always supports our CB.
That's a good little comparison there. All the Stars every
apparently going to recruit all.
Speaker 2 (39:27):
These players next season.
Speaker 1 (39:29):
That's what I've heard of the last couple of days,
because the BBL trade period starts today.
Speaker 2 (39:32):
But they're just never going to win. They just always
get all these good players and just never win anything.
Speaker 3 (39:35):
R c B and the Stars are similar. They're the
pretty boys.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
Yeah, exactly, the pretty boys.
Speaker 3 (39:40):
They don't like to get down and dirty. I'm a
Gates man, where the Gates is the working class, exactly right.
We get pushed out to Marvel, whereas yeah, the Bulldogs. Yeah,
whereas RCB and the Stars. You know, they want to
look good. They all have the shiny backs, but they
just don't win.
Speaker 2 (39:58):
So very good call yeah, certified plumboys all over it.
Speaker 1 (40:02):
And then last couple on Instagram at Benjamin Ryan on
our team of the tournament. This is our big bashed
team of the tournament. Also actually a social girl, Olivia
was all over this as well. She said the exact
same thing. Justice for my boy Asamamir. Now, I think
he's not good at all some here, but he actually
started the last four games, he did really well. I
thought at the start of the season he was going
to be crapp last season he was really bad, but
(40:23):
he actually got a lot of wickets in the second
half the year. So I will eat my words and
say he was actually pretty good. I don't know about
team of the tournament.
Speaker 3 (40:29):
I don't know about team in the tournament.
Speaker 2 (40:30):
He was actually pretty good.
Speaker 3 (40:31):
But I'm gonna have to disagree.
Speaker 1 (40:32):
Yeah, I've changed my mind on him over the last
month or so because I didn't think he was that good.
Speaker 2 (40:37):
But he's He's got a lot of wiki.
Speaker 3 (40:38):
He similar bowler to Farward armed kind of s action,
a similar kind of bowler, And yeah, I raid him,
but yeah, not Tim.
Speaker 2 (40:47):
I haven't face far with. That's the most spin I've
ever seen in my life. He came down. I've got
no idea why.
Speaker 1 (40:52):
One time, it's one of our training sessions and I
reckon he was pitching it on purpose off the pitch
and then spinning it off the pitch the other side,
and there was a keeper and they could there was
a keeper in the nets, and they couldn't. They couldn'tkeep
to him because we're just spinning it that much and
then he's wrong and would spin more than his leggie.
Like I was like, this guy's unbelievable. Obviously that didn't
amount too much in Australian cricket, but he was.
Speaker 2 (41:11):
It was a really good talent.
Speaker 1 (41:13):
They just didn't really figure that out and then he
couldn't find any consistent But yeah, some of me maybe
a little bit stiff in the team of the tournament,
but he's really improved that. I do like him now,
so I'll give him his credit last one On Facebook,
David Bentley says Mitch Owen is as good as it gets.
Great to see the Canes get a well deserved win.
Great atmosphere and crowd at Ninjastadium water night.
Speaker 2 (41:32):
That's an awesome night for hoe Bun in general.
Speaker 3 (41:34):
We've spoken about it extensively, but you know, Mitch Owens
is probably my second favorite Mitch Ollens behind the AFL.
But he Yeah, he was sensational and you know there's
going to be calls for him for all the franchises now.
Speaker 1 (41:50):
Ye, so he's you know, he's been filiped that the
IP auction has already done. He probably would have go on,
I reckon we get signed.
Speaker 2 (41:56):
You could day have like top up players and things
like that.
Speaker 3 (41:58):
Yeah, someone gets injured, I think, but you're saying him
playing in Chattagong and yeah he will get picked up
and you know he's a star and good on Hobart.
It's good to see them win.
Speaker 1 (42:09):
Yeah, and then yeah on that. That's the way forward cricket.
Growing up as a cricket obviously you want to play
for Australia. If you want to meet the big bucks,
you just travel around the world playing tea Creney cricket,
as Billing said.
Speaker 2 (42:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (42:19):
Last night on the commentary he said to Mitchellones, put
first class cricket away, just play white ball exactly.
Speaker 1 (42:24):
Yeah, like, although you would agree that you want to
play test cricket, you can make so much money now
playing tea. As the West Indian show, they just rove
around the world. So absolutely awesome and yeah, cheers for
all the comments guys in the comments, so keep them coming.
