Perhaps the most misunderstood of First Nations cultural protocols is Welcome to Country.
In this episode, Mark Bin Bakar - a musician, radio host and creator of media personality Mary G - talks about this Welcome to Country and other cultural protocols from a Western Australian perspective.
The interview was promoted by the decision of a Kimberley community, in the state's north, to ban welcome to country ceremonies or communicate with Rio Tinto, until they charged their practices to better in protect Aboriginal cultural heritage.
This podcast is co-presented by Aboriginal writer and PhD candidate, Angelina Hurley and her cousins: Tom Kirk, a cultural awareness consultant and Grant Paulson, a community development advisor.
