Al eeuwenlang proberen wij onze huizen te verrijken met een fraai interieur. Tegenwoordig kiest de Nederlandse man meestal voor strak design, of een minimalistische look. Maar er is ook een andere optie: want in de afgelopen eeuwen zijn er tal van prachtige antieke stukken gemaakt. Ambachtslieden besteedden uren tijd om een bank of kast te perfectioneren, die vervolgens in een landhuis belandde. En daar kunnen wij nu de vruchten van plukken. Maar wat omvat antiek nu precies? En is dat altijd beter dan een nieuw gefabriceerd product? De Stijlpastoor zoekt het voor je uit. Arno Kantelberg zet zijn tentje op bij Robert Heineman, antiekhandelaar en tweede generatie eigenaar van Heineman Antiek.
Robert heeft zo'n 500 antieke stukken in zijn collectie in Terschuur, vlakbij Amersfoort. Daar kloppen mensen van over de hele wereld aan om een mooi stuk antiek te vinden. Die collectie kreeg hij niet zomaar. Als kind ging Robert al met zijn vader mee naar het Verenigd Koninkrijk om daar tal van landhuizen af te struinen. Samen zochten ze naar bijzondere banken, kasten, stoelen, maar ook klokken, spiegels, servies, en ga zo maar door. Tegenwoordig vindt hij die ook in Nederlandse inboedels. In zijn werkplaats herstelt hij de antiquiteiten weer naar hun volle glorie, en zo blaast hij mooie ambachtelijke producten uit het verleden een nieuw leven in. Volgens Robert is antiek dan ook de meest duurzame optie.
Stijl is niet altijd even makkelijk, maar je hoeft het niet alleen te doen. De Stijlpastoor is er voor jou. Het komende half jaar trekt Arno Kantelberg over 's heeren akkers, op zoek naar het allerbeste dat Nederland te bieden heeft. Van horloges tot parfum, van de perfecte handgemaakte laars tot het scherpst gesneden maatpak. Wat draag je, wat drink je, en hoe doe je dat? Iedere aflevering wijdt Arno aan één essentieel onderwerp op stijlgebied voor de Nederlandse man. Naast uitleg over de mooiste producten, en hoe je het best van ze kan genieten, gaat Arno in gesprek met de allerbeste kenners en makers van Nederland. Samen, Nederlandse man, komen we er wel.
