Ze werd twee keer verkozen tot 'Meest Digibewuste Tweede Kamerlid’, Barbara Kathmann. Toch staat ze opvallend laag op de concept-kandidatenlijst van GroenLinks-PvdA: plek 32. De verontwaardiging was groot, want digitalisering stond nu toch eindelijk prominent op het takenlijstje? Volgens Kathmann valt dat vies tegen en staan we wat dat betreft op een kantelpunt.
Het gaat zelfs zo ver, dat digitale expertise in Den Haag haast politieke zelfmoord betekent. Kamerleden laten hun digitale dossiers vallen om zich te richten op populairdere thema’s. Ook Kathmann herkent dat. Het zou zelfs zo ver gaan, dat onze staatssecretaris van Digitale Zaken niet eens geld en mandaat heeft om écht een verschil te kunnen maken.
De vraag is of een Minister van Digitale Zaken wél verschil zou kunnen maken. Kamerlid Barbara Kathman geeft een kijkje in het digitale welzijn van politiek Den Haag, wat er zoal besproken wordt in de commissie Digitale Zaken en schijnt tot slot haar licht op belangrijke thema's zoals cybersecurity en de macht van Big Tech.
