Sinds zijn uitzending naar Cambodja heeft oud-marinier Dennis het lastig. De gruwelijke dingen die hij daar zag gebeuren, staan nog altijd op zijn netvlies. Het gaat zelfs zo ver dat hij uiteindelijk zijn moeder vol in haar neus beet.
Na zijn uitzending naar het Aziatische land gebruikt hij veel drank en drugs en heeft hij ook psychoses. Tijdens een van die psychoses zaagt hij zelfs in zijn hand, waardoor hij nu geen vingers maar slechts een aantal stompjes heeft aan zijn linkerhand.
Op een ander moment denkt hij dat iedereen in zijn omgeving een IS-strijder is, en vlucht hij richting Rotterdam The Hague Airport. Daar ramt hij een hek en komt hij zelfs op de startbaan terecht. Om hem te arresteren zijn veel agenten nodig en wordt hij zelfs getaserd.
Een jaar later is hij bij zijn moeder thuis en raakt hij opnieuw in een psychose. Hij denkt dat zij een IS-strijder is, en dat ze een masker draagt. Om dat te controleren, bijt hij haar hard in haar neus.
