Speaker 1 (00:02):
I think we're at the very, very beginning stages of
what will ultimately be an absolutely unprecedented revolution. I mean,
we really can change some of the ways that people
are living.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Welcome to Decoding Women's Health. I'm doctor Elizabeth Poynter, Chair
of Women's Health and Gynecology at the Atria Health Institute
in New York City, and I'm an expert on midlife
women's health. Women in their thirties through their sixties. It's
a time of enormous change hormonally, psychologically, and physically. I've
spent over forty years working in this field, and here's

(00:34):
what I've observed, not only as a doctor, but as
a patient.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
Also.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
The most important health information actually is out there, but
it's really hard to find sometimes. On this show, I'll
be bringing this information directly to you. We're going to
elevate the conversation about women's health in midlife and challenge
some of the status quo messaging that's out there.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Every woman goes through this. One hundred percent of women
go through through menopause. It can be such a struggle
and a challenge for our quality of life. However, because
it's natural, people think it shouldn't need any sort of intervention,
but even if it's natural, why should we suffer through it.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
I'll be talking to top researchers and clinicians, asking them
your burning questions and seeking their expertise, like how to
deal with changes in cognitive health during perimenopause.

Speaker 4 (01:27):
The types of symptoms that people talk about is, you know,
I'm forgetting everything. I never used to forget things. They're
concerned that one they have dementia. That's one of the
most common concerns that people have. And the other one
is do I have ADHD.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
We'll be exploring new ways to alleviate certain symptoms we face.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
There is unprecedented promise with regard to cannabis and cannabinoids
for many many indications and conditions that affect us to
sleep better, to have less pain, to have better mood,
and also to have better day to day life.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
We will be tackling some of the hot controversial topics,
like whether weight loss drugs can actually help you manage
mid life changes in your body.

Speaker 5 (02:08):
Society, including a lot of doctors, think people are taking
the easy way out because there's this absolute myth, and
it's a myth that you can do this sort of
weight loss on your own and keep it off and.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
So much more. I hope that everyone listening, every patient,
every doctor, and every woman can feel more informed when
it comes to our health, women's health. Listen to Decoding
