Als Bart in 2017 op het vliegveld van Madrid in de rij staat voor een vlucht naar Barcelona, wordt hij uit de rij gehaald. Hij moet naar een andere gate, stapt in een bus en rijdt naar een volledig leeg vliegtuig. Jaren later kan Bart nog altijd niet bevatten wat hem is overkomen en zoekt hij in Nederland naar antwoorden.
