This week, Ang is joined by Diane Schroeder, life coach, TED talker and host of ’The Fire Inside Her’ podcast. Diane’s mission is to help growth focused humans create a plan to navigate life transitions. But, the story of how Diane arrived at this mission is fascinating. In this interview with Ang, she recounts how a career in the fire service, a traumatic divorce and fixing up a new house all lead her to fix herself and, in turn, give her the power and confidence to help others fix themselves.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Diane chose not to go to college in order to stay home and care for her sick grandmother, which led her to get a job locally, as a firefighter. However, as she explains to Ang, after 25 years she took the brave move to leave that career behind and pursue her dreams
  • Prior to leaving her job, Diane went through a traumatic divorce, which led her to being a single, working parent. She relays to Ang how she managed to pull herself back from a dark place that she never thought she would escape from.
  • Diane has been using ‘Talking Parents’, the app that sponsors Ang’s show, for over 10 years. She discusses with Ang how the app has been vital to maintaining a healthy parenting relationship with her ex partner over the last decade.
  • Not only did Diane find a new career, but she also found new love. She explains to Ang how the process of self healing and acceptance led her to find a new, healthy, relationship.
