In vijfde aflevering van de LINDA.podcast 'Dochters' gaat Danique Havenga in gesprek met schrijver en columnist Lale Gül, bekend van haar boeken Ik ga leven en Ik ben vrij. Sinds de publicatie van haar eerste boek heeft ze geen contact meer met haar ouders en een groot deel van haar familie.
In deze aflevering vertelt Lale hoe het is om op te groeien in een strenggelovig gezin, hoe dat haar relatie met haar moeder heeft beïnvloed en hoe het is om haar moeder nooit meer te spreken. Ook spreekt ze openhartig over de breuk met haar familie: “Thuis kwam ik voor een bloeddorstig tribunaal te staan. Iedereen wilde me helemaal in elkaar slaan. Ik dacht: volgens mij leef ik niet meer na vandaag.”
Ook hebben we het over haar kinderwens. Hoewel ze zich op dit moment geen kinderen kan voorstellen vanwege de bedreigingen en haat waarmee ze te maken heeft gehad, blijft het verlangen om moeder te worden aanwezig: “Het lijkt me een heel mooi hoofdstuk, maar je weet in het leven nooit iets zeker.”
