Geen oorlog, maar ook nog geen vrede. Wat is dan wel de oplossing voor Cyprus? Kun je voor eeuwig een bevroren conflict blijven? Is daar weer een nieuwe oorlog voor nodig? Vooralsnog wordt gekozen voor de diplomatieke weg. Met VN-gezanten bijvoorbeeld. Zo is er net weer een rapport aan VN-secretaris-generaal Guterres uitgebracht. Is de gezant weer gestrand of kan er écht naar een oplossing worden toegewerkt?
In deze aflevering wordt niet alleen gezocht naar een oplossing, maar wordt de EU-toetreding van Cyprus ook onder de loep genomen. Brussel heeft namelijk dat vooruitzicht ook aan andere landen met bezet gebied beloofd, terwijl voorheen nog werd gezegd dat er nooit meer een land moest toetreden dat geen volledige controle over eigen grondgebied had. Wat is dan het perspectief voor een land als Oekraïne? Geert Jan hoort in ieder geval bekend jargon, en geeft alvast een voorzetje aan de epiloog-makers.
