Michelle Marcus is the Campus Organizing Lead of Banking on a Better Future. This organization demands an end to all financial support for the fossil fuel industry. April is Earth Month, and this year's theme for Earth Day is "Invest in our planet." The Earth Day website reads, "Investing in a green economy is the only path to a healthy, prosperous, and equitable future. Human influence is unequivocally to blame for the warming of the planet, and the sad truth is some forms of climate disruption will be felt for centuries to come. However, we must collectively push away from the dirty fossil fuel economy and old technologies of centuries past – and redirect attention to creating a 21st-century economy that restores the health of our planet, protects our species, and provides opportunities for all." Banking on a Better Future provides resources to educate supporters on sustainable financial options and tools to take action. Michelle joins Earth Care to break down the meaning of fossil-free investing. Plus, she explains the relationship between divesting money from oil with climate and social justice!
