O governo busca empréstimos de R$ 20 bilhões para socorrer os Correios, com garantias do Tesouro, para tentar normalizar a operação da estatal. Um dos focos será a implementação de um novo Programa de Desligamento Voluntário (PDV), além da venda de imóveis ociosos da estatal, que hoje geram custos de manutenção. Em outra frente, a intenção é reestruturar a companhia financeiramente, quitando débitos com fornecedores, além de dar fluxo de caixa para operações do dia a dia. A estatal registrou um prejuízo de R$ 2,59 bilhões no ano passado e de R$ 4,37 bilhões no primeiro semestre de 2025. Em entrevista à Rádio Eldorado, o economista-chefe da MB Associados, Sérgio Vale, disse que o empréstimo "é um paliativo" e defendeu a privatização de pelo menos uma parte dos Correios, mantendo como estatal "uma empresa focada no sentido social, com estrutura menor".
