Uma das primeiras ações do novo reitor da Universidade de São Paulo (USP), o médico infectologista Aluísio Segurado, será discutir um novo modelo de financiamento da instituição em razão de mudanças promovidas pela reforma tributária. As três universidades estaduais paulistas – USP, Unesp e Unicamp – são financiadas desde 1989 por recursos do Imposto sobre Circulação de Mercadorias e Serviços (ICMS), que será extinto e substituído por outro tributo. Em entrevista à Rádio Eldorado, o reitor que toma posse em janeiro disse já estar em negociação com o governo estadual e a Assembleia Legislativa para tratar do financiamento que é parte da garantia de autonomia universitária. Na entrevista, Aluísio Segurado também apontou outros dois desafios: manter as políticas existentes de diversidade e ações afirmativas e incorporar novas tecnologias de Inteligência Artificial “de forma ética e pedagogicamente correta”.
