A tarifa de 50% sobre produtos brasileiros vendidos para os Estados Unidos, a partir de 6 de agosto, praticamente inviabiliza as exportações da indústria têxtil e de confecção nacional para o mercado americano. A afirmação é de Fernando Valente Pimentel, diretor-superintendente da Associação Brasileira da Indústria Têxtil e de Confecção (Abit). Em entrevista à Rádio Eldorado, ele disse que o setor esperava fechar o ano com R$ 500 milhões vendidos aos Estados Unidos. “Nós atingimos até junho metade dessa meta, que agora está comprometida”, ressaltou. Segundo Pimentel, a entidade está mantendo contatos com representantes de associações setoriais americanas para tentar um alívio entrando na lista de exceções que contempla quase 700 produtos brasileiros. Ele também apontou que, se nada mudar, de 5 a 6 mil empregos do segmento podem ser afetados.
