A liminar amplia o quórum necessário para o afastamento de ministros e entrega à PGR o monopólio de pedidos de impeachment dos integrantes do Tribunal. Os demais ministros vão deliberar sobre a decisão em plenário virtual que começa no dia 12 de dezembro.
Vista como uma blindagem em meio às ameaças bolsonaristas de impedimento de magistrados, a decisão vem às vésperas do julgamento dos primeiros deputados investigados por irregularidades com emendas parlamentares do orçamento secreto. Além disso, tem potencial para azedar a estratégia eleitoral e, em consequência, os caminhos para uma reversão da prisão do ex-presidente Jair Bolsonaro.
