Depois de Donald Trump anunciar que o espaço aéreo da região estava encerrado, a TAP deixou de voar para a Venezuela e, em retaliação, o governo de Nicolas Maduro revogou-lhe a licença para operar no país. O Governo português já pediu ao Governo de Caracas que repense esta decisão, alegando que a TAP não é responsável pela decisão dos norte-americanos. A Ibéria já anunciou que ficam cancelados todos os seus voos para aquele país até ao final do ano.
