Daar gaan we het over hebben met econoom Aerdt Houben, directeur financiële markten bij De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB). Hij neemt ons mee naar de oude goudkluis waar ooit duizenden goudstaven lagen. Ook legt hij uit hoe Nederland aan die goudvoorraad komt en waarom het edelmetaal nog altijd intrinsieke waarde heeft.
Econoom en journalist Mathijs Bouman denkt daar anders over. Hij vertelt waarom het goudbeleid van de centrale bank niet meer van deze tijd is en wat de mogelijke alternatieven zijn.
