Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome back to the Football Today podcast, brought to you
by Betfair. Who are on your side this EPL season.
I'm your host Leam McAll and also known as the
stats Guy. I'm here with Marcus Barzana as always in
a lovely Athletico kit, the spider Man kit.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Spider Man, I need to get one of those kids
just so I can points kid looking very nice. Probably
the best movie of the three as well, the best movie.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Yeah okay, yeah American So that is a very clean
kiit very one of the best kids of all time.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Oh, it's definitely up there. Me and Alex Yeah, I'm
the host of the show. Yes, she the same kid,
So get.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
One so we can do the spiders. What about favorite
ever Premier League Kiit just off the cuff there. I'm
trying to think of like the best ever Premier League kids.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
I don't know there's been actually goalkeeper ones. Yeah yeah,
goalkeeper kits actually go very underrated. We have to do
a kit, I reckon.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
We do a kit ranking of like the retro kit rating. Yeah,
so check better on the social social clip. Today we're
going to cover the top football and EPL news, The
best and worst of the EPL and so far. So
we've got an international break coming.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Up, and there's been a lot of the worst.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
There's been a lot of the worst that we want
to talk about some funny moments. We're going to talk
about the best goals, just best moments in general and
worst moments of course, because the international break is coming up.
We hate the international break here because we just want
footy EFL footy EFL football, not not international break. Payers
don't even care about the international break. We're seven games
in and we've already had two international breaks. That seems
too much.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Yeah, we all we want is Premier League football at
its best, and we're going to get interesting.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
I think it used to be like two weeks off.
It's only a week off. So we'll be talking about
the EPL season so far. We're going to have a
look at some betfair back or lay future bets, so
in terms of the table and things like that. Then
we're going to finish off with some quick fire tips
for the Soccer's World Cup qualifies.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Soccers really need to win some of these, so we'll
have a look at that before we start.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
All right, let's get into it around the ground.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
We're having to look at the Premier League over the
weak can diet a little bit of soccer's news as well.
I'll start with this one because this was an awesome
game over the weekend. Man City three Fulham two. City
slightly worrying a defense fifth in the league for the defense,
which you go, all right, not that bad, but in
terms of their high center that's a bit of a
drop off.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Fulham could have won as well. They actually looked really
good chances. Yeah, as we spoke before pre show, her
Dalmatro already had quite a few chances two one on
ones with the keeper which he literally just like p
rolled one into the side of the keepers league one
of them, but he's so quick he gets out of
the back burnt with Kyle Walker Walker, which louch.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Kyle Walker's known as the fastest player probably in the league.
Maybe not anymore, but yeah, definitely used to be. Yeah,
Fulham look all right, but City obviously got the job done.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
I think I've seen enough from Manchester City to tell
me that without Rogery they're going to win the league
this season.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
They're conceding a lot more goals without Roger, Like, yep, yeah,
he's that yeah CDM presence the defensive midfield where he's
stopping probably probably one of those goals because they were
going straight through the middle of Dald.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
Tro was just through the middle, whereas Roger's that brick wall.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
That's a good call. I didn't even think and ironically
it was Co's midfield partner. Yes, I got the goals.
We got the goals in this game and one of
the game. Yeah. So he notoriously never scores goals. About
three goals for Chelsea. I want to have a look
at his Chelsea career for Chelsea, remember he scored against
He scored in the Champions League a couple of times.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
Four goals for Chelsea, but he's best ever in the
season was two.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
Yeah, and he's already got one goal to assists this
season for We've got the city unbelieved. He got the
two goals, two goals and you got a goal against
Chelsea yeah as well.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Yeah, yeah, of course hasn't. Actually I'm looking at the
wrong Yeah, sorry, he's got three goals already.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Yeah, so he's definitely working Wonders on the PEP and
he gets a lot of freedom in that man City midfield.
I always thought he was a bit underrated.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
He was unbelievable at Chelsea, like a lot of things
he can.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Do on the back of my shirt, and then he
left the next season.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
I feel like that's always the way. There was certain
clubs that give you refunds on certain things like that. Yeah, yeah,
that's that's been unlucky. Next time I'm going to talk
about I think used up to watch this one as well.
While Chelsea were playing Villa, Neil Man you, Neil, that
was shocking.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Neil.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Villa is so up and down Man. You obviously just
don't know how to score goals at the moment. That's
three straight games where they haven't scored a goal, which
is a really big worry. I saw a few of
the old Manchester United legends were going, this is embarrassing
that Johnny Evans got made in the match. He's thirty
six years old. He put his hard on the line,
really good in defense. He was actually really strong against Villa,
who have a really strong attack. But Johnny Evans getting

(04:28):
made in the mat when you're paying so many other
players so much money, that's embarrassing.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
Look he's bringing he's brought all of his players in.
I don't care if you played midweek, yeah, if it
was a tough game or not. But you've got lindelov
del Xerxe, Casimiro, Anthony, Lessandro Martinez, Amad Emmanuel Ugarte all
on the bench in a game against Villa Villa Park

(04:53):
and both teams had the low the lowest XG for
their clubs in a game for years.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
Yeah, I haven't mate. That's a big Villa fan.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
He was there and he said it was the most
boring game he's ever ever been to know.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
You're just attacking. They're always pretty quick in attack. They
didn't make that many chances. Their man. You just Villa
and over to him. Did you message him after the game?
Next one ange Ball? It was looking okay.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
They were looking okay in the League Cup, then they
won in the Premier League. Last couple of games, they're
up to nil against Brighton. You got ah, Tottenham are
flying and then they choke it to lead.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
What's going on? Which come on? No matter how much
Straights away from being Spursy still comes back. Being Spursy
still comes back. Look the cracks are starting to become
a little bit wider now, Yeah Tottenham. His postmatch interview
was interesting. Have you seen that? We were just staring
at the ground the whole time saying it was pathetic?

(05:52):
Not once, I'm assuming not once looked up at the
camera really like that. He looks away a little bit grumpy.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
Yeah, he's always a big grumpy Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
I love Angel one of his big supporters of him,
following him for years. I loved him at Celtic, that's
one of my favorite teams. But he needs to, I
don't know, change a little bit. He's the most stubborn
man in football, which has got into this point. If
he wasn't so stubborn, he wouldn't be in the Premier League,
so fair play to him. But now that he's in
the Premier League, when you tun nil up, they still
played really attacking a really high line and that cost

(06:25):
him a.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Drawer at least three goals in yeah fifteen minutes. Yeah,
so maybe when you tunail up. I don't know.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
I'm not obviously any English Femier League manager, not just
yet pretty good at football manager, like yourself. But to nil,
maybe just goes slightly more defensive or or don't play
as higher line because you need to hold that lead.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
If they just hold, like they could hold a two
one lead, surely.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
That's a good three points. Yeah. Brighten's a good team.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
Yeah, they're up to sixth run so they would have
taken that and now a ton of down to ninth.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
So I don't know.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
I think and needs to be a little bit less stubborn.
He's never going to change.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
He's not going to change, but they're still going to
play their brand of football and I guess at the
end of the day that's what Tottenham supporters, supporters wanted,
and people are saying, Could he be the next manager
to be sacked? No?

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Not, Yeah, I think yeah. I think there's gonna be
another unless they lose like heaps a game.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
I think there's about four or five other managers in
line in the sack before before and yeah, I think
he's pretty safe. I agree with that.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
The next one was not Chelsea. Yeah, both stay have
to watch this one as Chelsea fans.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
That was brutal one.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
All that was a massive fight that broke out of
a scuffle.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Yeah, pretty funny Corle Palmer having having his popcorn, just
like I don't I don't want to get I want
to play football. He's great. You said he's mentioned become
more of a robot like Earling holand yeah, I'm leaning
towards Cole Porn. Palmer's more car Pormer.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
He's more of a robot than than Elie Harlan, which
is a bit crazy, but Harlan showed a bit more
personality that Palmer's just he's so level headed. Son.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Imagine if they were on the same pitch together. Yeah,
Wou'd be a lot of goals, unstoppable. There's what is
that there's about sixteen goals between them this season, so no,
it's twenty goals. Yeah, just goals. Yeah yeah, twenty something
twenty something goals in assistance was pretty nuts. But that
was very funny.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
Chelsea really good form and then drawing to it, we
can never be I remember looking at the form last
week against each other, the team's head to head and
not have so many jaws against Chelsea.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
Chelsea just they just can't break down when just teams
sit back.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
But still but fourth heading into the international break, Chelsea
fans would be very happy about it compared to last season.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
And the saves from both keepers towards end the game
was Sanchez has been awesome. I just got his Team of.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
The Week card in the the new I was going
to call AFC or whatever you want to call it
now and yeah, Sanchez has been on fire, which is
really surprising me.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
So that's been pretty good.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
Next one, Brighton so not bron Brentford have now scored
in four straight games in the first eighty seconds. So
the manager apologized because they didn't go in the first minute.
The first minute was eighty seconds. It was the first Yeah,
they's got the first minute three game. Then the next
game they've gone the seventy six second mark.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
So how was that even past I saw I think
it was the Wolves admin or some some Wolves person
said playing well, you can score us in the in
the first minute, big win, and then like twenty seconds
later they can see yeah, so it.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
Was the seventy six second mark. They they're just unbelievable,
like the team, they're actually not going like that.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
Well they found they film them that they the back
of the five times against Wolves and one of them
was right at the start.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Literally, they're such a crazy team, like, I'll tell you
what we're going to go out to, like a standout
player of the season.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
Yeah, shortly is awesome. Yeah, six goals, I think his
second top scorer and without Ivan Tony, he's doing a shift.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
He's been awesome and like a lot of those first
gals have been him, he's just on maybe just parked
the bus for the first minute against That Is that
a good tactic?

Speaker 2 (09:51):
Just like six of the batches, win the coin toss,
hold the ball, told the ball for sixty seconds or
seventy seven seconds and then and then you can start.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
So yeah, if you lose the coins us to Brentford,
just like oh yeah, no doubt and what are we
going to do? Go back up to still got eighty
nine minutes to play after they score. That's genuinely wild.
Another one I wanted to talk about was mikel Antonio
forced his way back into the Hammers. I saw this
funny so where it was like every year they get
a player, a new striker west Ham and go, yeah, Antoni,

(10:20):
you can.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Just go back to go on the bench.

Speaker 1 (10:22):
There he just dominates and then they don't use there.
So he got a goal and assist on the weekend.
He's already got a few goals coming off the bench,
and I think he's going to be back at starting
now because full hasn't done anything. Who else did they
sign before that? I'm trying to remember who's the scamaka
scamaka did? He was okay, but he didn't do that much.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
Yeah, Antonio is he's a decently good players. What you
need in the Premier League ye, power and pace, yeah, exactly,
and he has both of those. Yeah. And I remember
he started.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
I think we've talked about this before, but he's he
started as like a defender, then he puts up into
like a mid winger, and now he's a striker. So
he's a pretty cool Premier League story. West Ham need
to start him every game. He's an absolute beast, I think.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
So normly's the other way around. Normally you start as
a striker and you work your way back. Because I
Richard started as a striker. I don't even know. John
Terry started as a midfielder and as a striker in
his early days as.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
Well, which is harder that I saw a Premier leaue
question about that is that is it hard harder from
a striker.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
To a defender or a defender to a strike. Oh,
that's tough. A striker, in my opinion, is worse.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
I think a lot of strikers done how to defend.
Like if you put true reached James, for example, you
can chuck him at strike.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
He's got to yeah, yeah, yeah, that's true. Depends though
a good point.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
What's the hardest position on the football pitch? I would
I was gonna say, you go easiest, what's the easiest?
Striking a winger? Is that easiest because you just got
easy run? And then like yeah, maybe center back?

Speaker 2 (11:42):
Center back? I reckon.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
That should be another whole podcast. What's the easiest? I
reckon goalkeepers the hardest?

Speaker 1 (11:48):
That's up the goalkeeper or CDM because you've got cdmfield
so much work.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Yeah yeah, yeah. Let us know in the comments when
you think the easiest position is on the football pitch.
And why is it? Why is it? Why is it?
The wingers they get paid the most money, they do,
they do they just all these tricks for no reason.
I hate it. I don't even know why we've been
talking about it.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Last bit we want to talk about around the grounds
is a bit of Ozzie News. The new soccer's coach
Tony Popovich. We mentioned him last week, just remembered, but
we haven't talked about the squad that he announced and
things like that. So he brought back Masimo Luongo obviously
in the Premier League right now retired from international football,
but then he's been ruled out anyway, so.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
He came making his long way to return.

Speaker 1 (12:30):
Ye.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
Been great ipswitch obviously ye and then injured.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
Yeah, ban, But there has been everyone's so happy with
the squad. There's been a little bit best. Oh, you're
not happy with it? I thought people have been.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
No, I'm not happy with it at all, just like
some of the players that are in there, a lot
of older actually, a lot of players that have played
on the Tony Popovich that probably don't deserve to go. Okay,
yeah from victory. Yeah, don't get me wrong. It's a
good young player, but probably we have a lot of
the great talent in the socceros, particularly on the wings,

(13:05):
like I even would have preferred to see Marco Tillio
in it.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
Then, yeah, it's been a bit hard done by.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
I think a little bit around in there. He's not
really getting game minutes, which is a bit of a concern. Yeah. Yeah,
overall of the squad, I don't think was Jason Garry
is in there.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
Yeah, there's a few guys that are a bit past there,
like either prime or just not at that level.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
We got metcalf in there from overseas. Mcgree got a
really good.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
Team I think. But yeah, you're right.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
I didn't even think about some of the guys from
the A League that are a little bit lucky to
be in the Squarehatrick against that would be pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
So he'll be wondering if we actually play decent football,
which I'm concerned we won't. What do you think about
the amployment.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
I'm happy to Yeah, Tony Popovich, I think he's got
a pretty good Yeah, CV, he's had a lot of.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
Success, but in Australia.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
In Australia, of course, that's the that's the thing I
was a bit worried about. I think we talked about
it a little bit about it last week. A lot
of other countries are going for people overseas. We don't
have to just look at an Aussie that's had success
in Australia and yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Some of Australias should look overseas. Some of Australia, the
Sogaroos and Matutas. Best of the managers have been Dutch,
haven't been Australian yet Swedish as well. Some Swedish yes,
I think so, yeah, yeah, and obviously yeah, good sitting
because well, like you mentioned, but I feel like it's
just more of a like he was easy going into
the nightclub and you're like, all right, extensive search, lads,

(14:30):
We're going to get the best looking girl. We're going
to get the best looking girl for mate who's never
been with anyone. And then you see the two out
of ten on her own, and then you're like, all right,
Tony first, So Tony is out of ten? Tony, look,

(14:52):
isn't looking in It's funny. I think the appointment was. Look,
I'll support him. He's Australia's coach fair enough. But you're
a bit word but on a little bit skeptical, that's right,
that's right.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
Yeah, people watch this show just for your just for
your your stories or your hands, your analogies. That's what
I was gonna for and I'm all here for it.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
All right.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
Let's get into the best and worst of the season
so far in the English Premier League. For the twenty
twenty four to twenty five season. We're going to go
through a best goal, standout player, funniest moment, biggest surprise,
worst team, which will be pretty funny, and then the
best game, which will also be pretty funny. All right,
we'll start off with best goal. There were so many
goals in September. I watched them GOHO of the Month

(15:31):
for September just before and I'm like, I could pick
like ten of these.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
So watch your best goal of the season so far.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
It's going to be John Duran versus Everton Well from
about he did till twenty thirty and he was linked
with Chelsea before the season. We're going to sign him
for about thirty million.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
Dan's been awesome and now he's worth.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
I probably like seventy eight million. But yeah, that banging
from outside the book completed the comeback in when Evident
who up and Aston Villa came from behind. That was awesome.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
That was like three twos in between the halfway a
ladd and the bottom off.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Two steps barely and he backlifted his leg and he
just put the tops and Emmy Martine's reaction as well
was pretty good when that went in.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
He's also got I think I just had a look
at his has six goals across like all competitions, and
most of them is coming off the bench.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
We're just getting winners off the bench. Like you go
through your goal of the season. I'm not try he's
try and find his per minutes.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
Yeah, it'll be a football I think I love just
before that is wild. My best goal of the season
is James justin versus Arsenal. We talked about it last week,
the fact that he was lining up for the volley
on the massive cross against Arsenal for Leicester and he
just put a bottom corner curved away. It looked like
it was going out, curved back in off the post.
I think that's just the pitch. A perfect goal and

(16:46):
probably the best goal he'll ever scored, because I don't
see him doing that ever again.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
But that's such a hard goal to score well.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
Across the body, so a lot of people there would
go maybe left foot or try and hit it straight.
He's going across the body to curve it around. Just
has to be my best goal the season. Honorable mention
to our beloved Cole Palmer the free kick. But I
think there's a few players that can possibly hit free kicks,
whereas I don't know if there's many players that can
hit vollys like that, like James Justin did so.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
I think that's that's so much harder like playing the
first time and it was a deep cross as well. Yeah, yeah,
across the body, like it's much easier to doing that
than scoring a dead ball. Yep, have got some of
my John Durant stats there. I'm looking for his shots
on side goals per ninety shots. Actually can't really find it,
to be honest. If I find it, I will let

(17:32):
you know.

Speaker 1 (17:32):
All right, that's right, We'll go to the next one
standout player of the season. We might be a little
bit biased being Chelsea fans, but there's one player that's
on my mind. There's a few honorable mentions, I think,
but why don't we start with honorable mentions?

Speaker 2 (17:44):
Maybe one of mine was Soaker? I know, I don't
like talking him up.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
I was arguing with Alex that has been on the
show before in the office about him. He's got seven
assists already this season. I think I need to check
how many goals he's got. I think four goals or
something like that. Small goals, I think. Yeah, so he's
been really two goals seven six there you go, which
still awesome. And I think some of his assists are
crazy and he's been cutting in on the right wing.
So definitely an honorable mention to Soaker you haven't he

(18:08):
honorable mention.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
Obviously Highland breaking records right fastest ten goals, but dropped
off the last couple of games. But I think I
mentioned before Brian and is up there. Yeah, I think
Gabrielle's up there from ask Gabrielle. Yeah, yeah, bitter love
for the defenders and I thinkah, probably even Virgil van
Dyke's up there as well. In Liverpool, yeah, because they've
had the best affair and they're on top, so they've
got to have one of the best players so far, surely.

Speaker 1 (18:30):
But I think our stand out player that we absolutely
love so far this season seven weeks in Cole Palmer.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
I've got some stats for him.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
Six goals, five assists, twenty three chances created in seven games.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
Is just wild.

Speaker 1 (18:42):
Everything is going through him, eighty one pass accuracy, which
it might go oh, that's not amazing, but the fact
that everything that Chelsea does goes through him. Yeah, And
he's still got eighty one percent pass accuracy. I just
had to put that in because he's just unbelievable. Some
of the runs he was making on the weekend where
he took on two players, did a little liked he
touched it was like the Arsenal player from back in

(19:03):
the day. I'm trying to remember Camp. It was almost
exactly like Burke Camp's goal where he sort of tapped
it around, ran around his player. The things he's doing
on a football fit at the moment, that's crazy. He's
not only yeah, being a standout player in the Premier League,
be in the world.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
In the world. Yeah, he's just you could argue he's
probably top five, top ten in the world.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
Which is crazy because he wouldn't couldn't even get a
game of Manchester City and now he's.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
Yeah, the people like is he just like a one
season wonder, but he's backing it up and he was
second season. Ye John Duran one point nine to six
goals per ninety one point. It's almost scoring two goals again,
that's good in the AFL. Next is Early Hunland one
point four to three, which is too impressive considering he
plays every minute.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
Yeah, that is crazy that he's coming off the bench
one point one point nine six, so they started him,
started him. Man.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
He scored two goals every game, as simple as that.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
I think he's gonna drop allie wwkins. Yeah, I'll put
him together, true put four four two yeah, four four two.

Speaker 2 (19:57):
Yeah, you're going plumber as well, that's fair. Yeah. Scoring,
he's breaking records as well, like four roles in a
in one half in twenty minutes. Yeah, first ever player
to do that in the first half. Yeah, So for me,
it's called palm cool, palmer nice. All right. He's might
get a mention here as well.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
Funniest moment of the season so far with seven weeks
in yep, what's your funniest moment?

Speaker 2 (20:17):
Ongoing early Harland throwing the ball the back of Gabrielle's
head after city equals to make it too too. Honestly,
he's lucky not to get a card there. You shouldn't
throw the ball won if he got fine, surely I
wouldn't know if I don't think.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
I don't think so, because they love Earling Harmon and
he might bash him if if they are now he's
too of a lovable character. But throwing the ball and
back of Gabriel's when they scored.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
It was hilarious. I forgot, I forgot.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
We got no punishment.

Speaker 3 (20:41):
Really, yeah, that's I reckon, that's pretty lucky.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
You shouldn't be crossing at the man city tax.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
Yeah. Maybe maybe, maybe maybe they're going to add it
into there are there relegation. I think that might happen challenges. Yeah,
just like, oh yeah, Harland, you can get a whole
hundred thousand dollar.

Speaker 2 (20:57):
Fine for throwing the ball. Someone said, I feel like
in any other workplace, shuts over the ball. Someone's said, yeah,
I mean I was going to do the same thing.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
I'm just gonna put but I won't do that to
our beautiful set. Funniest moment for me was we mentioned
it before, but Cole Palmer sitting down in the middle
of the fight. You've got Knots players, Koker got taken out,
so Knots and Chelsea. I just go and ad on
the sideline of him. Maresca's in there, in there, the
refs in the middle of it, and then you see
Cole Palmer just sitting there.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
Like, yeah, he's enjoying it. Don't worry about it. I
just want my chicken.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
He just wants his chippy chips. He wants to play football.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
Score goals instead of popcorn watching her who's having his
chi chips.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
So that was just hilarious and it just sums up
how relaxed he is, Like I think that's one of
the reason why he's so good. He does not give
a crap about anything else other than getting goals and assists.

Speaker 2 (21:43):
Like, he's just so chill. As long as he's out
there playing football, he's happy.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
He's happy, and yeah, that's he's not never going to
get overawed by a situation or money or things like that.
And he's a perfect player. So that was just hilarious,
just sitting down the middle of the pitch and I
respect that. We don't want our good players getting suspended
or fine. Fine, so yeah, very good smart played by Cole.
All Right, that's the funniest moment. Biggest surprise, Yeah, anything
you want really the club? Yeah, I think we're both

(22:06):
going club, but biggest surprise.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
For you, Marcus. Look, I don't know if this is
like I don't know, a bit redundant sort of saying
Liverpool the top of league. I think I think they've
been a surprise to me in all honesty, I thought
they'd struggled to start. They have had with new manager,
somewhat easy run. I think under a new manager, especially
after all those years under Jurgen Klopp and what he

(22:30):
instilled and how hard he pushed that team for arna
slot to come in and do what he's done so far,
sounds weird. Liverpool top, Yeah, superb, but I think that
Liverpool had the exact same amount of points as the
first seven games of the last season and then they
dropped off, dropped off. They have had a pretty easy runners.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
The only thing I'll say, yeah, but the fact that
they're getting over the line is still on top and
they're just not conceding like hardly any guys.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
They've considered two goals in the seven matches to the international.

Speaker 2 (23:00):
Who are the toppest teams they've played so far with
paper Manchester United away and they Yeah, but that's sort
of look in hindsight, that's pretty easy, I reckon.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
But who they be man you, Brentford, Bournemouth, Wolves, Crystal
Pass definitely very easy run, but getting over the w
and some away games which even Men City have considered
a lot more goals.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
Even in the Palace game they didn't play well at
all Liverpool, but they won't so good songs. I'm got Knots.
I know that they're in tenth.

Speaker 1 (23:34):
They were fighting relegation. I think they finished seventiesh last season.
They're up to tenth. They've had just some really good
draws and really good wins. So they've drawn against Chelsea,
drawn against Brighton. Both teams are in the top six,
even in the FL Cup. I know we mainly mentioned
the Premier League, but they did pretty well against Newcastle.
You've got draws against Bournemouth, who I think could be
in the top half, playing really well this season, beat Liverpool,

(23:55):
which I haven't even mentioned.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
They beat Liverpool. They've beaten the top team for.

Speaker 3 (23:58):
A side that was Yeah, everyone's like they're going to
get row again.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
Last season.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
They look so much more settled this season, a lot
more settled. They just even without Morgan Gibs White there's
been out.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
A little bit longer as well. Gotta be out in
the Chelsea game like.

Speaker 3 (24:11):
Yeah, he got injured again, so that that was a
bit brutal for Knots fans.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
But there's a lot of good preos in there in
the midfield. It's a really good addition because for a
team like Not to let's face it, they're just going
to sit back, park the bus and try and hold
onto as many points as they can. But positively, set
pieces is important and to get arguably the best set
piece taker in the world and Jajju proo, Yeah is
a really good game.

Speaker 1 (24:35):
Yep, absolutely so, Yeah, I think they've got some of
even Chris would actually haven't even mentioned Chris is bigger
surprise because he's how many goals that he got.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
He's got four the Kiwi.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
So shout out to our neighbors over there in New Zealand,
and he's killing because a lot of people says, oh,
he hasn't been up to Premier League stand for a while,
but he's doing really well.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
So actually got fourteen goals quite like, it's been really
good last.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
Season as well. So and he's keeping team and he's
a very good striker. Yeah actually yeah he killed her
last year.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
Yeah yeah, there you go. So he's doing really well.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
Yep, there you go.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
Bigger surprise, all right, this is the one that I've
been very excited to talk about. A lot of people
don't want to hear about this. The worst team in
the Premier League, so fun season.

Speaker 2 (25:15):
Who you got ongoing literally the worst team so far
in the season to Southampton, Well, not on the table
technically Wolves. Wolves have had a very hard run. But
I will I will get I will get in our
back or labor. Yeah, thanks for Betfair, but yeah, for
me it's Southampton. I just think I agree they're trying

(25:35):
to play their football and look, you can't be that
nive even the Premier League to do that. You saw
clubs do it and get relegated and punished like Burnley
did with Vincent Company. Yep. So Southampton for me by
far the worst team in the competition and we'll finished
last finished last time.

Speaker 1 (25:55):
Yeah, because you got who actually got around there. You've
got Wolves who have actually, if which have I think
will be okay. They've they've had some really good games.
Crystal Palace surely after to kick him to gear at
some point. And then it's actually gonna be really hard
because Lester haven't been too bad. Everton have been okay.
Then you've got man New Obviously man New ang't well
I'm gonna get really talking about man. You they're my
worst team of the season so far. I know that

(26:17):
we love talking him down on this show. I'm not
trying to just get into man U, but you've got
five goals in seven games, supposed to be one of
the best clubs in the world, haven't scored in the
league in the last three games. It's a real worry.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
Like you said, they played a very defensive team. A
lot of their stars were on the bench.

Speaker 1 (26:31):
I see stars, guys that were supposed to be their stars,
and they're into fourteenth I think at the moment.

Speaker 2 (26:37):
Yeah, fourteenth. Ericton Hagg broke his own record for the
worst start for Manchester United in the season. Really he
broke his own He broke his last season was his
record with how many points earlier on now?

Speaker 1 (26:47):
Eight?

Speaker 2 (26:48):
Eight? Yes, and there we go.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
So next if he's still around next season, they'll be
on seven. The only people that want Eric tenhugg there
are opposition fans. Everyone's going, I've got a few mates
that are Arsenal supports. They're like, just keep him around
until we play men New Arsenal fans are saying, because
then they'll play this negative style of football where they're
not scoring and things like that.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
Just really really disappointed.

Speaker 1 (27:11):
I'm not saying they have to be top four top six,
but they're just not showing an identity at all. There's
a lot of guys that aren't putting their body on
the line, unlike Johnny Evans, who there was a good
point that he played under Sir Alex.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
That's how long he's been there for.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
And when I say Alex Ferguson was there, there was
a bit of an identity and everyone wanted to play
for the Badge.

Speaker 3 (27:29):
Just doesn't look like that at the moment. So they're
my worst team so far.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
Yeah, look that at all benches would have been harnous,
no good.

Speaker 3 (27:35):
But I do think they'll improve at some point, but
not under ten Hug.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
I think he has to go.

Speaker 1 (27:40):
We've been there for like a year, although we wanted
one trophy year.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
Although keep plucking away like a bad one. You'll win
and and and draw here or there again to have
a look at it. They play, they'll be happy to
keep him in the job.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
Yep, all right, last one. We're going to look at
for best and worst moments, best game of the season
so far. I just realized we don't have the Manchester
City best arsenal one in here.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
That was so stiff. I thought you should have done.
I reckon that game was better than the game you
were about. No, I just I don't know. I think
I watched this game in four and just thought it
was awesome atmosphere look forward.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
Yeah, I'll talk about that, but well I can quickly
touch on the Arsenal Manteo told was a red card
all over them and then got late.

Speaker 2 (28:20):
Yeah, it's probably the only reason why I didn't put
that game in my best game was just because the
red card somewhat ruined.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
Yeah, it didn't ruin is a neutral, but in terms
of who probably should have won, and I think Manchester
City overreacted to the to the draw when they had
extra players.

Speaker 2 (28:38):
After the whistle. Harland Mouth and off Tota.

Speaker 3 (28:41):
Yeah, I forget about that. So that was what happening.
But yeah, what's your best game of the season?

Speaker 2 (28:44):
More? Best game of the season features two bottom half clubs,
Everton and Bournemouth. That was a great game. Everton dominated
in the opening seventy eighty minutes tune up and then
Bournemou from about the eighty fifth minute onwards unreal. Yeah,
they brought it back to two too, and they could

(29:06):
have scored three four and then it eventually went in
in the ninety six minute from I think of Sinisterio
wounded up scoring the nuts and Everton fans weren't too happy.
As soon as that ball crossed the line. Everyone was
out of their chair. I've been the same. That was
two weeks in a row where they were conceding. That
was the first of followed that up again, yeah, winning

(29:28):
three to two. That's why Everton haven't been like that bad.
They just need to hold into a lead two new.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
Leads a couple of times in the season already and
then losing that. But Bournemouth were awesome that game.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
Bournemouth and Fulham surprisingly have been like two of the
most exciting teams to watch.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
It's what a manager can do if you have a
good manager in there. Obviously Marco Marco Silver and uh
all oh yeah yeah yeah Bournemouth manager. Yeah pretty Crazy's
been great to watch.

Speaker 1 (29:56):
All right, My best game of the season, which no
one would have predicted if switched down two asked the
villa too randomly watched this game because it was on
like eleven o'clock like Aussie time, So I've gone yeah
ifs which just their crowd was just amazing, the vibes
there was nuts. Then you've got Villa coming back into
the game. Then if Which getting another goal. The lap
was just amazing. You did a step over for a
goal that was just awesome. So that's going to be

(30:17):
my best game of the season. That's a rogue shout
for putting Switch down in there. It is when the
fear behind the goals is just the camera was rocking,
Like just playing was just so attacking because they're like, oh,
we don't have to play that defensive against Villa. We've
got a bit of space. Yeah, And they took it
up to Villa, who a lot of people thought were
going to smash them. So and I did have annoyingly
a bet on Villa to win that game, So that

(30:38):
was annoying. But in terms of best game, if Switch
taking it up to him, and that's why I think
Which could watch for you good fine and lots of goals,
which we abolutely love. All Right. That's our best and
worst moments and teams of the season so far through
seven games. Now there's an international break this week, but
we're still going to have a look at the back
or lay bets. Thanks to Betfair, the only place to
back and lay on the EPL this season. Some future

(31:00):
bets is what we're going to have a look at.
So no bets from Tony this week, so we'll have
a look at that next week for his expert tips.
Whi's going to do our own ones here back Olay,
So we'll start with we'll go back first. What are
you backing for a future EPL bit on bet?

Speaker 2 (31:13):
I'm backing Fulham at the title handicap Yeah, plus forty two,
so at five dollars seventy So basically they've just got
to be within forty two points of whoever wins the league. Yep,
and at the moment there are only not many points off.

Speaker 1 (31:31):
I'll assume no, right now, I'll have a seven points
they are right now. They are behind by seven points,
very same at the moment and about the quarter of
the way quarter a bit less.

Speaker 2 (31:43):
But plus forty two points five dollars seventy. Yeah, playing
some good football and I think there's more to come
from Fulham, so for sure, yeah, right now they are.

Speaker 1 (31:53):
Sorry, last season they were forty four points behind and
that's why the handicapples around that forty two. But they're
a lot better this season, like they've even him and
as he's scoring some goals for him, You've got domatories
creating big chances.

Speaker 2 (32:05):
I don't think. I don't think the winner of the
league will score as many points as last season. No,
I agree.

Speaker 1 (32:11):
So you got Man City and Arsenal were so far
ahead last season, whereas Liverpool might peg that back a
little bit.

Speaker 2 (32:17):
Yeah, they going to struggle a little bit. Arsenal were
vulnerable if you've seen like obviously Leicester and Southampton as well,
they weren't that great. So eventually that's going to come
to an end. Yep, But I think yeah.

Speaker 1 (32:30):
Really good bad Yeah yeah, yeah for sure, SRU think
very nice. I'm going to back Aston Villa at a
top six finish. I know they've been a bit rocky,
but I'm having a look at the Premier League table
right now and I'm going, who's going to finish in
this top six? So you've currently got Liverpool and Man City,
Arsenal locks for top six.

Speaker 2 (32:47):
Chelsea.

Speaker 1 (32:48):
I know I wouldn't have said this at the start
of the season, but the way they're playing, I think
should finish in.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
The top six. That's four.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
Then I'm going I believe that Villa right now in
fifth are better than Brighton, Newcastle, Fulham, Tottenham, knots like that,
Next United as well, who were way way further down,
all the sort of big teams that have been in
that top six the last five years. I think Villa
that next year, maybe outside of the top three. I'd
go Villa Newcastle possibly if they kick in the.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
Gear because obviously beat City, but we still got the
breathing room for Newcastle as well, exactly, So I think
Villa could finish definitely fifth.

Speaker 1 (33:22):
So villains to top six finish at two dollars twenty eight.
I think it's a really good bet on Betfair there.
So top six, yeah, I do think I finished fifth.
I think they may drop points.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
Where they're going to drop points is middle of the
season when they get the Champions League majority of the
Champions League games, yes, but then once they get knocked
out of that competition, I think they're going to Australia.

Speaker 3 (33:41):
Yeah, unless they don't getknocked out of that, they probably
the other weeks.

Speaker 2 (33:45):
I've won the Champions League before Villa.

Speaker 1 (33:47):
Yeah, that was what.

Speaker 2 (33:50):
You never know a right lay bets with Betfair? What
are you laying the bottom of the table only one
point from the first seven, But I'm going I'm laying
them to get relegated, so basically for them not to
be relligad not to get llid ye two dollars sixty four.

Speaker 3 (34:06):
I liked it.

Speaker 2 (34:06):
Yeah, Look, don't let the one point from seven games
scare you. That's pretty scary though, and they did. The
thing is they've had a really really hard runn of games.
Like we look back, even though they're conceded five against Brentford,
they conceded six against Chelsea, but they played some really
good teams they played. They played Wolves, Villa, Newcastle, Nodding,

(34:28):
Forest Away, which we've seen can be tough, Chelsea who
have been pretty good so far, and Arsenal Arsenal yep
at the Emirates. So they've got a big chunk of
those difficult fixtures out early by the way. Yeah, so
they'll definitely be picking up points sooner rather than later.
But in saying that, they do have man City next
so to make it even harder.

Speaker 1 (34:49):
After the Man City one, I agree the next month
will be a lot easier.

Speaker 2 (34:53):
Bryan Pallace Southampton, Fulham, Bournemouth, Everton, West Team, Ipswich, Leicester.
That's where the points in there. Yeah, no, I agree
for sure. Yeah, nice, yeah, I don't mind that or not?

Speaker 1 (35:03):
All right. I'm laying Brentford at a top ten finish
at three dollars and fifties five cents on Betfair top
ten finish.

Speaker 2 (35:08):
I know that right now. I'll let me have a
quick look at the table. Brentford are ten points equal
ninth with equal nights with Tottenham.

Speaker 1 (35:14):
Yeah, equal nights with Tottenham, but they're eleventh in terms
of the actual overall table. Now, I think they've had
a pretty easy start to the season. Branford, let me
just double check that. So they've had Wolves obviously last
game scoring five goals against them west Ham, So what
have I written in here for them? They've played four
of their seven games against teams in the bottom half.

Speaker 2 (35:34):
So I people going Brenford are going.

Speaker 1 (35:36):
Too bad in Buemo has been really good, scoring lots
of goals, But then you look at who they've played against,
four teams in the bottom half out of their seven games. I'm, yeah,
a little worried for Bremford to finish in the top half.
I'm rating Nots ahead of them, I'm raiding Fullham ahead
of them. I think that's going to be the and
I think if west Ham kickings a gear, I can
probably put them above Brenford, but they're still west Ham
being very average. But then the likes of Crystal Palas,

(35:58):
maybe they're going to drop off to that. But there's
a lot of teams in that eight to twelve range
that I think are better than Brentford.

Speaker 2 (36:04):
Would would you agree on? And I think they're only
one injury away from Yeah, there are a line of
ways away from really struggling. Yeah, and when it wasn't
Brian and Bomo was Joan Visa, wasn't it? Yes, he
was really good. Yeah, I actually think it's also injured
at the moment.

Speaker 1 (36:20):
So yeah, uh yeah, look I like that, but a
lot yeah, yeah, So I'm laying Brentford top ten finished,
just don't think they can be in that top half.
All right, that's our back o la future bets thanks
to Betfair, the only place to back and lay on
the EPR this season. Let's finish off with a bit
of quick fire tips on Australia soccer US games. The
soccers have to pretty much win, don't have to win

(36:41):
both to make the world couple much at least get it.

Speaker 2 (36:43):
Get some They're they're going to have to get some
they can't lose.

Speaker 1 (36:46):
Yeah, basically, so under a new coach, pretty much a
new squad, a lot of new not a new guys,
but a lot of the changes of players for the
soccer US.

Speaker 2 (36:53):
So yeah, this is the international break. Let's just touch
on that.

Speaker 1 (36:56):
Australia West China is the first one Thursday night and
we reckon, we're going to go.

Speaker 2 (37:01):
Surely we can get a win win in that one. Yep.
I think China at bottom of the group at the moment,
but that's no representation of them. They're actually usually pretty
good side. But I'm just praying new manager bounce first
game in front of in front of the home fans. Yeah,
where is this game? But I think actually.

Speaker 3 (37:20):
Surely I think it is, but there's not been much
promotion for it.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
That's interesting. So I was just thinking in front of
the sorry Adelaide, that's right, Yeah, that's right. Yeah, that
should be really good because I don't get many games,
so should be pumping there. But yeah, what do you think.

Speaker 1 (37:37):
I'm having a look at the table. You're right, China last.
They've only got one goal in their two games. But
the way has been playing playing has been a bit
of a worry, I'll still go. Yeah, Australia desperately need
to win this one. I think a new new manager,
some new players coming in a bit of positivity, so
I'll go.

Speaker 2 (37:53):
I'll go to Neil. I think we can get to
maybe a Harry Suit goal from a corner. He sees
Nutmeg on the weekend. You know, yes, I don't make
someone like as a winger. I'm like, it's like seven
foot is a very underrated player.

Speaker 1 (38:07):
Next one is early next week, Japan versus Australia. Japan
are so good their first in the group, two wins
they wait, is that right? Two wins with twelve goals.
Oh yeah, yeah, they're unreal Japan. That is unheard of
twelve goals and two games in football. So I'm very
worried for the soccer who is obviously losing. Tod we
lose to Bahrain in Indonesia. Yeah, now we've got to

(38:28):
play Japan, so I think we can get a win
against China. I am very worried against Japan. I wouldn't
be surprised if sneak a goal, maybe like a three one.
But yeah, I think we're going to Japan. In all,
I think we're going to get We're going to get pumped,
like three four nil. They beat China seven nil and
well and obviously Bahrain they beat them five nil. Look,

(38:53):
I think struggle the bus question mark.

Speaker 2 (38:58):
In all fairness, they do play Saudi Arabia only a
few days earlier, so that's a lot tougher picture than true. China.
