Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome back to the Football Today podcast, brought to you
by Betfair, who were on your side this EPL season.
I'm your host as always Liam McCallan, and I was
always as well. We are joined by Marcus Barzana me
I would never ever forget about you. Marcus, very good,
you're very epl's back this weekend exactly England losing in
internationals Australia.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
The Socareo is actually.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Getting somewhat well good week, yeah, very good week for
our Ossie football fans. We're here, as Marcus mentioned, for
all things English Premier League heading into match week eight.
Finally we just have another international breakover.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
I think it's another was it four weeks not a month?

Speaker 1 (00:37):
A month of straight Premier League which is what we're
all here before and here about. So get around it.
No more international breaks, there's too many. It should be
they should get rid of the Nations League. I think
we can touch on that, and they should get just
played more Premier League. Maybe just play forty five Premier
League games instead, they're going to expand.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
The amount of Nations of the World Cup anyways, so
just yeah, true.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
Exactly, give me more games anyway, why not? Exactly Anyway,
Today we're going to cover the top football and EPL news,
the best betfair back or lay bets for the EPR
matches this weekend, including the expert tips. He's back, Tony Hargreaves,
He's back. He's back, serious black Yeah, he's back with
the tips. So we're gonna have four of his best
tips and then a tip from each of us. So
you're okay on those We're going over. I reckon sixty

(01:18):
seventy percent, so a bit risky. This week's more value,
but hopefully we'll get on it, will get up.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
I back your heart back up before we start.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel, the Football
Today podcast that you're watching this right now and follow
our socials Football Today. Are you on TikTok and Football
Today Australia on Facebook and Instagram. All right around the
grounds international break. We'll quickly touch on all this because
we want to get into the Premier League this weekend,
but we can quickly touch on a few things. We
can have a laugh, ass Eca. We liked laughing at
England's expense. They lost to Greece for the first time ever.

(01:50):
Grease fans were up and about it when was. I'm
pretty sure was at Wembley. They have the everlues at
Wembley and they've lost to Grease.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Grease. We're going absolutely off ninety plus minute winter.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
As you won as well as you that they actually
played very well. Yeah, they could have scored more. England
weren't great either, but they just went full Sparka on
England's Oh it's so good work. So that was that
was really good.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
The next game England actually bounced back trail alixader I
did awesome free kick that was going around the socials.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
He can do it all. I know. He steps up
a bit for England.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
He doesn't take the free kicks obviously all the time
for Liverpool, like the majority of the time. Yeah, but
it hasn't scored in a while and that was just
awesome against Finland.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Yeah, yeah, he's been. Yeah, he was superb. He is
probably one of the best free kick takers in the world.
England have some good free kick takers. Yeah, well Prows,
Palmer Sren that you can do, Trent James.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Imagine the arguments in the room, So who's going to
take the free kick?

Speaker 2 (02:45):
I didn't, Yeah, like part would a bit of a
Chelsea situation argument.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Yeah, well, hopefully hasn't happened in the death. Yeah, fight
to the death pretty good.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Still on England, there's.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
A bit of a Beakaya Sacker injury worry you were
about before.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Yeah, he had a possible hamstring concern.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
I hate the international break if they get a Sacker injury.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Out of it.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Yeah, because if Socker gets injured, they on the ropes
for the next little bit. But thankfully for Arsenal and
Arsenal fans, it looks like he should be fit for
this week. If not, have a very easy picture, don't they.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
They're playing Bournemouth. Bournemouth have been up a bit up
and down, but they're they're pretty solid at home. But
if if it's one week they can rest him, they
wouldn't mind if it against them. They should be born
with even without Soaker, So maybe maybe I'll rest him
and things like that.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
So we have to wait and see last one. On England.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
I know we're touching a lot on England here, but
there's just a lot of news going on with them.
The legendary Thomas too Short it's been named as England manager.
According to Fabrizia. Mind it hasn't been officially announced it's done.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Says it's done.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
If he says, here we go on Twitter. Yep, it's
a lot, isn't it, isn't it?

Speaker 2 (03:51):
He knows you're getting a new contract before you even
get it.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Yeah, But it's great to see Tommy Tickles back in
Tommy Tickles back in English football. I love him hatingly.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
I don't know how you're gonna feel about that.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
It's going to be a bit of a love hate relations.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
Obviously he got a got Chelsea had a bit of
trouble then then he won the Champions League Chelsea as well.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Best ever defensive record in the Champions League campaign only
the goals I think the campaign.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
That was when Werner was killing it.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Against Real Madrid Haverz.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
That was good.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Yeah and yeah Chelsea up again.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
There's only two players from that Champions League winning team
that's still in the Chelsea squad.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Can you guess them for Yeah? Probably, I'd say James
and Ben. Yes, I'm actually pretty happy with that. There
we two of my favorite players in the month streets whatever.
All right, that's enough about England. I'm sick of talking
about that. But that's pretty cool. Thomas too cool. I
think he'll do a really good job there. If he
can finally get Ingland a trophy, Chelsea and Mine will

(04:57):
look stupid for getting rid of it.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
I can't believe Chelsea got rid of him.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
I think he's fairly likable in England as well. He
was rumored he was going to be the next Manchester United. Yeah,
but the.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
Players, yeah respect him.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Plays big get England because they don't typically go for
this sort of manager then to go through the system.
So I was expecting Lee Carsley to be honest to
keep that position, but maybe the defeat against Greece swayed
them away from maybe that position.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
Yeah, there you go, talking about Premier League legends. Early
Harlan becomes Norway's all time leading goalscorer thirty four goals
in thirty seven games. You pretty much look at every
club he's played for in every team including his country Norway,
and his goals are pretty much the same as the
amount of games he's playing. He's just he's just unbelievable.
Takes over a ninety four year old record. I think
it's Juve Jorgan Juve I think was the I think

(05:44):
that's his great name. Ninety four year old record that
Norway has had, and he just keeps scoring for fun,
like he scored two goals in that in that game
to pass the record and just keeps Peter Beast and
he's actually becoming a fighter.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
I didn't know robots could.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Have kids, but yeah, yeah with that, Yeah yeah, I
was like that was a bit of a joke for
that's right, you don't have.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
To laugh about it.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Next one, some of yours, what was that? Definitely not?
Definitely not. He's a beautiful man, imagine and then he
looks on that cheese k coming through in eighteen years,
it's going to.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Be like it's going to be a b tech like
Chris Emsworth O child what Yeah, it's going to be
born with football boots and maybe yeah with appect like
symmetrical eyes.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
It's going to be okay, that's why look at it anyway.
Next one, I want to touch on around the grounds
in Nigeria pulled out of a qualifier against Libya because
there was transit at an airport for seventy eight hours.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Now, AFCN in general.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
It seems to have there's always something, something has to
happen every weekend, every international break with the African not
af the what do you call it the African Yeah,
it's like a bowl or yeah, yeah, I.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
Can then bowl. That's it. Yeah, that's it.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
So something always happens in the African Yeah, qual fires
and this is the next one. Niger had to pull out. Yeah,
seven in hours, stranding in the airport. They didn't have
any like food or anything. They were just stuck there
on the on the time for ages and they're like,
we don't want to play after just.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
Being in the airport for seven and hours, and they explain.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
It's not really good enough. I don't blame them, to
be fair, No, that's a bit of a joke. Yeah,
the whole airport just stuff him up and then they
couldn't play.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
So that was a bit brutal.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
Last time we're going to touch on in around the
grounds is the Soccer's. We had two really really big
matches as OSSI. We were very excited. Needed to get
some points on the board. Yeah soccer's first one to
nil against China. Finally we're gonna win on the board.
First one in the qualifiers. Three three now oh yeah,
oh there you go.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
I must have missed the last. I was just so
excited by the first two.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Scored.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
Is forgot about first?

Speaker 2 (07:43):
So is on debut?

Speaker 3 (07:44):
Yeah, he came on and then within a minute he
was just it's pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
That was good for him. Yeah, because he toot a
lot of flak about his selection into the side, and
I was questioning it.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
Well, I was surprised how many sort of A League
players that seemed like they're pasted or not, like Luke
Bratton starting this more against Japan was an interesting choice.
Luke Brandon as well. Luke Browdon's thirty four in the
A League. He's probably thinking, oh, I'm going to retire soon. Yeah,
he's got a soccer his club. But he did pretty well.
He did okay, he got but I thought he was

(08:15):
injured and then they're like, no, we're distracted. But yeah
that first one three and against China, Craig Goodwin scores
a banger. I think he needs to start every game. Great,
good one.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
I know that he's getting a bit older. How old
he won?

Speaker 2 (08:24):
It wasn't even three. What am I doing?

Speaker 1 (08:27):
Sorry, they scored the first goal. They did, that's right.
I'm thinking of a different game. I was watching an
old game again. Artie Thompson was playing.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
Wasn't he Yeah, I think so.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
Sorry, soccer Is three one against China.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
Yeah, a bit of a scare. But you know, Craig
good when he was he's so good, got an assistant
a goal.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
I know that for a fact that he got at attack.
You'd have to be I don't understand why he doesn't start.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
How old is he now?

Speaker 1 (08:49):
He's thirty two, but he's still like he's a bit slower.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
I understand that.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
But the Clark, he is such a class above almost everyone,
even though he's still not playing in the.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Other way around. Get him to start against Japan, but
bring him on against China. Yeah, probably, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
We just needed a bit more class than he was.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
Awesome, we got the point and then somehow producers Gerald
was having to laugh about this this morning as well,
Japan won.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
Soccer Is won Japan.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
I think they were leading fourteen nil across their three
qualifying games. Yeah, fourteen nil, and then the soccer Is
go there and get a draw. Just played so well.
It was just a it was just a great game
of football. Class he finishes from no, definitely not class.
He finishes.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
Bruce would more because yeah, the goals they were great
quality as well, Japan's goal.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
For Australia.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
Japan's goal for Australia couldn't do that if you try.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
It again, Oh my god. So yeah, both goals were
own goals. The Japan fans were up and about, but
that again so wrestless. I've never heard that the Japan
fans boot. They were booing because they were down one nil.
They were really frustrated because.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
They're really respectable fan base as well.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
That's what surprised.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
Yeah, yeah, because yeah, they were very happy with the
way where you played there, Like you know, you know,
like teams go there and you just sit back and
you're like, yeah, screw you, this isn't how football should
be playing.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
Yeah, it was just good tactics.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
But they were like, you know what fair play. Yeah,
very good defensively the soccer roos and came away with
a point the spot, only arriving at the ground about
half an hour before kickoff. Well really so yeah, no
warm up, no pre match warm up, so basically just
straight to the ground, get changed pitch, yeah, and started
the game. So, considering everything, I think a point away

(10:32):
against Japan is fantastic.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
Absolutely, soccers have never beaten Japan in Japan, so just.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
Take a draw. It was really good.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
And then yeah, the other goal for Japan was actually
an own goal as well from Birch that was a
bit more unlucky. Yeah, and those sort of happened when
there's a fire had cross that goes in. But the
Japan one was just.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
Like if Burgess didn't get there.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
There was actually any Japanese player behind him.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Yeah, so there was no lesson they deserved. They played
very well. Yeah, yeah, I was really good.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
I think we.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Probably only had about twenty percent possession.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
No shots on target, and still got a goal. That's
the most impressive.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
Part I think.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
Yeah, like we had one short to Japan's twelve. Obviously,
the zero target thirty four percent possession for soccer US
pretty good. Not bad. Saudi Arabia, I'm going to go
to that pool.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
I'm going to go to that It's in fourteenth in
Melbourne Rectangular Stadium, Everyone's favorite stadium.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
Yeah, they'll be a very good game. But yeah, we
just got to count our lucky stars at Saudi Arabia
keep dropping points and they drew to bar Rain.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
Yeah that's right, that's good at home as soccer has
got right and go right for the World Cup. My
favorite time of the show, Your favorite time of the show.
Marcus Our back o lay bets thanks to Betfair, the
only place to back in lay bet on the EPR
this season.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
We've got some tips as always, he's excited. Let's go
get around it.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
We'll start with Tony Hargus, the legend the expert tips
from Betfair, So you can go on betfair dot com
dot you slash Betfair hub has his expert tips on there.
So we've got our best four that we've picked from his.
But he actually has a full breakdown of every game
in his best tip. But we're just going to go
through the best four here.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Yeah, we'll see a grieved dog.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
Did dog? Is that a new nickname, Tony? So here
we go.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
You go to dog.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
You want to call him.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
I don't know if he's ticking that one off, but
you go through his two Yeah, bets to back and
I'll go.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Through the lab. Sure thinks that's guy. Well, he's backing
a result against in the Newcastle vers Brighton game of
Saint James's Park, which is going to be an entertaining one. Actually, yeah,
Newcastle haven't been in a great form, but you know
last couple of matches, tiny bit better. Brighton have been
pretty good backing a draw for a bit of value
at four dollars. Both teams are on twelve points to

(12:31):
start the season. As I mentioned, a lot of ups
and downs. Five of the previous ten meetings, so fifty
percent of the last ten have been a draw.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
Don't mind that, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
Brighton confident of recent and new Castle have been kind
of lackluster at home this season. Besides from the City
game where they got the point, I.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
Think since then there's been three year they've had three
home games and haven't got a win, but they've got
a few draws. And then Brighton obviously came back last
week sorry two weeks ago against Tottenham. Yes, sooner down
so that that'll be pretty confident because usually you'd probably
go lean towards newcast On this one, but they haven't.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
They've been a bit scrappy. I haven't been disappointed by them.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
You can never underestimate Brighton. I think no risk you
don't want to take so raw Newcastle Wes Brydon at
their fair check it out and his other back tip
he's back on both teams to score at a dollar
ninety five in Nottingham Forest versus Crystal Palace.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
Okay, yeah, I don't mind that.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
Obviously Notingham have been a little bit defensive, but eight
of the past ten Palace away games have seen both
teams score, so that's a that's a good ratio, and
six of the last ten Nottingham Forest home games have
seen both teams score. Sly, they're a little bit more defensive,
but you can back them to get on the score sheet.
And the Crystal Palace have been struggling. They do have

(13:46):
the likes oft.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
I know they've been struggling, but I think it's going
to click at some point. I know that their team
is not that bad.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
It's not bad, but I think it's worse since last season,
but it's not bad.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
And then Knots have got my boy Hudson and Adoy
who's on fire. I do still miss him at Chelsea.
He's been really good. So both teams have scored.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
Dollar ninety five. That's really good, very nice.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
I've got Tony's lay bet, so first one he wants
to lay for this weekend is Southampton at two dollars fifty,
so he wants a draw or a Leicester City win
in Southampton versus Leicester. So I'm very on board with this,
really on board with this one because Southampton are clearly
the worst team in the Premier League, as we talked
about in our show last week. The Saints they've lost
six of their seven games this season and the only

(14:27):
draw they've had was against a winless Ipswich, really disappointing
start to the season. They have the worst attack in
the league and the Foxes have scored in every game
but one this season.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
So Lester, I know they're what are they fourteenth?

Speaker 1 (14:40):
I think I'm pretty sure on the table at the
moment around the belt fourteen and fifteenth. But they've they've
shown at least they can get on the score. But
they've got Vardy, They've got Maveddi who's in really good form.
They've got a few other guys. They are relying on
Vardy a little bit too much. But yeah, I really
like this one by Tony to lay Southampton because they
just don't know how to win.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
If the best result they can get, I think is
a draw.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
If Leicester was scoring basically a goalie game, it's not
very lucky you're going to see Southampton scored two plus
goals much this season, so yep, I really like that.
That's the Saints of marching towards relegation. Oh little, a
little pun they're very nice, marching to the GPP.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
Yeah, margins it.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
They actually are late.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
The last lay bet from Tony that we're going to
talk about is a draw at three dollars sixty, so
he's laying he wants a Fulham winneror an aston Villa
win Fulham versus aston Villa, so doesn't want to draw here.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
So he's got some stats to back it up.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
Fulham have started well with a three to two and
two record, but are losing aggregate of twelve six against
Villa in their last.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
Six meetings, which is a bit of a worry.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
But there's been no draws in the past six meetings
between two and Fulham have only drawn three of the
twenty two home games, so three of their last twenty
two home games just in all competitions, so we are
leaning towards. Both teams have guys that can score winning
goals and they're going to play very attacking. Aston Villa
played very attacking. Fulham are actually playing really well this
season early they are, so he sort of thinks that

(15:56):
if it is a draw, someone's going to get a
winner on the board and I don't mind that.

Speaker 2 (15:59):
Yeah, no, I agree, based off the stats he's given
us here, it's hard to argue that. Hard to so
I'm all for that.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
Who do you reckon?

Speaker 1 (16:06):
We can get on that later, But who do you
reckon if someone's gonna win being too bad?

Speaker 2 (16:11):
But I don't mind fulham. Okay, it feels weird to
say because because Villa A they're still startup. Yes, yeah,
they just haven't been as impressive, as impressive as last season.
I think Champions League coming up perfect.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
All right, that's Tony Hargreave's tips or whatever you want
to call him, be for expert tips, get.

Speaker 3 (16:29):
Around that one. Let's have a look at our bet
for tips.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
What are you going for this week, Marcus, It's going
to be one of the main games of the weekend,
Liverpool Chelsea Boys at Anfield. I'm going under two and
a half goals at two dollars eighty eight. Under two
and a half is hit In three of the previous
four meetings there were two new Nils and one one
in there. And look, I just I really do fee

(16:52):
into the unders. I think Chelsea despite the stereotop of
them conceding a lot of goals, they really haven't.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
No more, Sanchez has been great in goal.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
More than fifty percent of their games have actually finished
under this season. Then over there you go, including both
of these teams last matches. Obviously Chelsea Forrest was one
one and Liverpool beat was the Palace last game one
mill yeah, away from home.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
I think that narrative comes from that Wolves game when
Chelsea's defense looked shambles. Yeah, and we're all like, oh crap,
this is going to be bad. And then there was
back to up with Sanchoz having to have a penalty.
But other than that, if you watch Chelsea games, they've
actually been.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
Haven't been that bad? Yeah, And Chelsea and Liverpool at
infield has always been a really entertaining game. Yeah, something
always happens, So I'm just really looking forward to it.
Shame or will get no sleep?

Speaker 3 (17:40):
What time is it?

Speaker 2 (17:41):
It's a Monday morning at two thirty. I think it starts.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
Oh yeah, I don't mind that. That's what I'm back
in the under two and a half goals. Yeah, I'm
going to have it bet as well, with Betfair backing
over two and a half goals at a dollar eighty
seven in Ipswich versus Everton.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
Now. Ipswich talked about this before.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
When they play at home, the crowd pretty much wills
them to play attacking football.

Speaker 3 (18:04):
When they were playing against Villa, it was two.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
All and the crowd was just so loud and that
they the lap has been scoring goals. Is he's got
four goals, You've got Dwight McNeil, who I think is
actually been pretty creative this season three goals, which just
surprises me because it really is getting a bit older now.
But the over two point five goals is hitting five
of Everton's seven games this year. They know how to score.
They've had a lot of games where they've been leading
to nil, but then they don't know how.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
To hold onto a lead.

Speaker 1 (18:26):
So I wouldn't be surprised if Evidence score first, then
he switched get two, then Evan gets another one, like
I wouldn't be surprised If this is like over t
three goals, it's going to be nuts. So dollars eighty
seven backing that for the over two and a half golds,
I think it's pretty good bet there.

Speaker 2 (18:40):
I really like that one.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
Yep, very not sure.

Speaker 1 (18:42):
All right, that's our betfair back of a tips, the
only place to back on a bet on the EPR
this season.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
Let's get into Trivia with Olivia right off the break.

Speaker 4 (18:50):

Speaker 1 (19:04):
We're back for another segment of Trivia with Olivia. Let's
go Olivia. What is the trivia for this week?

Speaker 4 (19:09):
All right?

Speaker 5 (19:09):
How many matches did Cole Palmer play for Man City?
And of those, how many was he in the starting
eleven Santa wins?

Speaker 1 (19:18):
That is a great question that I've got no idea about.

Speaker 2 (19:21):
Is just a Premier League? All comps?

Speaker 3 (19:24):
All comps?

Speaker 2 (19:25):
Okay, I'm going to go with.

Speaker 3 (19:30):
I was going to say like forty, but I don't
know if that's way too much.

Speaker 2 (19:33):
Well, and go twenty three. He started three.

Speaker 3 (19:37):
I'm going to go.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
Thirty eight and he started seven Liam wins.

Speaker 5 (19:46):
He's played forty one games and he started in thirteen
of them.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
Oh, okay, there we go.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
More than I'll expect there we go, and then man said,
he's like, oh, you can go and just become one
of the best players in the world.

Speaker 2 (19:56):
Yeah, I like that.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
Great question anything.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
Cole Palmer lated, wh thanks Olivia. That was really good.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
That city. He's very much a community shield. Care about
cut Yeah, I think that was that was just didn't
dirty I know that they did.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
Where would he slid into their team right now? That's
that's a big question played with Phil fod Phil. Yeah, yeah,
well I don't really players they don't really play number
ten really.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
Do their city.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
No, but he's still somehow be They probably fit him
in there because even Pepsol.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
Play of a banana silver in the midfield three.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
Oh, he's not going to defend like probably, Yeah, just
get him on the pitch.

Speaker 3 (20:32):
I interviewed for this week.

Speaker 1 (20:33):
We need Italian up. I reckon i'd actually did probably
be a head no idea. I reckon you'd be ahead
to be honest. Anyway, let's finish off the show with
the EBL match Week eight predictions.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
I'm going to go through every game.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
We're going to give a quick fire tip, sometimes not
quick fire, but how we go Tottenham versus West Ham
Battle of the Hands.

Speaker 2 (20:51):
HM, total West. I'll go with.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
Alright, toham, I'm going to go draw.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
I'm doing it like, yeah, that's the first drive in
three weeks.

Speaker 3 (21:11):
I'm going to.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
Switch Town versus Everton.

Speaker 3 (21:16):
Absolutely barn Burner, let's go.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
This is tough draw. I should have waited.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
I should have said I'm going to get switch. I
love watching had I don't know why I'm not a
big What are they again? They're not the tractors, that
are they. That's always a terrible nick name.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
I should be just to be the tractors, not the
tractor boys. She's just slow and we got the tractor
boys best the Toffees, that's Fred, the Toffees, best attrative man.

Speaker 3 (21:39):
That to be one, all right.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
Manchester United versus Brentford.

Speaker 2 (21:44):
Been a bit of a bogey team for Manchester. You know.
Yeah what smash was it?

Speaker 1 (21:48):
For?

Speaker 2 (21:48):
One?

Speaker 1 (21:49):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (21:49):
That was under Eric ten? Four neil, I think that
was under Eric ten. Have a look and they considered
all four of those goals if I'm not mistaken, in
the first half or.

Speaker 3 (21:57):
Four really, that's right, and they were all left, all
the fans left.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
Yeah, look, this is going to be really tough. They
can get some players back fit again. Manchester United. I'll
go a draw purely because it's the old Trafford.

Speaker 1 (22:11):
Okay, so the last few meetings you've got a two
to ol, a three to one man U three nil,
Menu four nil Brentford. So last few times men, you've
gone on top. But I'm going to go stuff it.
I'm going Redford, Redford, Bredford, Bredford. Just say really fast Brentford.
I think they're going to get a job done and
yeah crush.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
Brenford. Manager is rumored to be the next Manchester nor manager.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
So oh so he gets to win. They'll like just
walk into the other rooms, just go around the corner.
Next one, Fulham versus Aston Villa. This is actually gonna
be a really fun game. Fulham had a really good
start of the season and Villa you know most.

Speaker 3 (22:45):
Of the time, you know what you're gonna get them.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
Yeah, because Tony is going against the draw here, I'm
gonna go with Fulham.

Speaker 3 (22:50):
Full of them at home. Okay, I'll agree with you
on this one.

Speaker 1 (22:53):
Fulham as well. I think at Craven Cottage has been
really good. So let's back Fulham. Next one Newcastle Brighton
another really strong one. Tony's gone the draw.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
It's a tough week this week. I really to back
some results. Tony's gone to draw. You know, I'll back
to the expectives on that fair. I'm going to go Newcastle.
I've said this whole season, but I feel like they're
going to click into get at some point. Their defense
is going to have to lift, but I think they
can get like a like a two to one win.
I think is that Gordon and Bruno live in below part.

(23:26):
They're still getting a decent amount of points, which is
somewhat positive.

Speaker 3 (23:30):
They should be better.

Speaker 1 (23:30):
I think though we've got a Newcastle there next one, Southampton,
Verst Leicester City. Pretty much whoever loses this game almost
can like lock in for realegation, Like if Lester lose this,
they're just gonna There's so many bad teams there.

Speaker 2 (23:45):
Is, like we West west Ham and mid table they're
lock twelve I think, or something like that Crystal Palace
or if they have one win west Ham and their
twelve one win.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
That's embarrassing, isn't it? Who are going to this one?
They have two wins too, That's not me. Who am
I going? That's a good question.

Speaker 2 (24:03):
Leicester.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
Let's Yeah, I don't think i'll tip in the year,
honestly fair they just think next one Bornmouth versus Arsenal
possibly no saka.

Speaker 3 (24:12):
Does that change anything?

Speaker 2 (24:13):
Surely not not really, but I think it boosts Bournemous
chances obviously, But I still think this is a picture
Arsenal should be winning if they want to win the title,
and for that reason I'll go ask them.

Speaker 1 (24:23):
Yeah, I'm going to ask them as well. Wolves west
Manchester City. Wolves could get lose this like five to one.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
They could, but then I don't they score goals at home? Yeah,
but that was against Chelsea five three Brentford.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
Yeah, but then you got still you've got like Brentford
Chelsea City. Do captain Harland in fantasy Absolutely, it's gonna
get He'll get four goals.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
Som On not play Seller playing Chelsea, Palmer playing Liverpool. Yeah,
I think it has to be Harland captain.

Speaker 1 (24:54):
Captain Harlan and obviously answer to the city. Yeah, that
was an easy one.

Speaker 3 (24:58):
Huge match.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
I think this is the match of the weekend because
Chelsea are back and form. Liverpool have been really good.
Liverpool versus Chelsea at Anfield, huge match.

Speaker 2 (25:05):
Both teams have over performed this season. Yeah, as much
as I want to, I want to, but I can't.
I'm going to go to Liverpool, I want to say,
because like one of my closest mates.

Speaker 3 (25:19):
Is in Liverpool's or so you'll be watching that.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
Yeah, yeah, probably might go to your house. Alex two
thirty in a Monday is a bit rough.

Speaker 3 (25:27):
Is just not got his door. Wake him up. I'm
going to go draw. I'm doing.

Speaker 1 (25:32):
I've had a draw since the start. I genuinely think
Chelsea can get a draw out of this, holding down
pretty well defensively Liverpool. They've had a few games this
season where they haven't scored it as much at home
as they wanted, so I think it could be like
a one all. I think the past month Liverpool I
haven't been great, but they've been like they've been getting
the job done. Let me get the job done in
the wins. Someone of a good team yep in my opinion.

(25:52):
So and then the last one of the weekend, Not's
Forest Verst Crystal Palace another really tough one. It is
not to have been really good this season. So I
was going to say at home they've been really good.
So got both gone.

Speaker 2 (26:03):
Off that have been really bad.

Speaker 1 (26:05):
Their team on paper is not that bad. They're not
doing the jersey proud.

Speaker 2 (26:09):
The relegations over at the moment.

Speaker 1 (26:10):
No, no, I don't think that's how bad. Remember you
were saying how bad the season is that.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
The relegations the moment three points from wins, there are
four clubs without a win. Four jeez.

Speaker 1 (26:23):
If you don't have.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
A win after like week ten, you just get we're.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
Glazing, you switch because like, they performed better than we
thought they would, but they're still pretty low. They're still
having good a win.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
Can you survive in the Premier League without a win
and like twelve draws?

Speaker 2 (26:40):
Again, Arsenal went invincible, but technically you can not get
relegated and be invincible.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
Yeah, and you can stay up. That would actually be invincible.
Imagine that would be awesome. Anyway, down play all your
Arsenal fans out there. Yeah, stuff Arsenal fans. Anyway, I'm
calling it. That's the final whistle for the Football Today podcast,
brought to you by Betfair. Check out all the fun

not enough people are Yeah, so that's it's in any
