Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome back to the Football Today Podcast, brought to you
by Betfair, who are on your side this EPL season.
I'm your host Lee mckellian, also known as the Stats Guy,
and as always I'm joined by Marcus bar He's pumped
every show we've done on this. I think Chelsea have
got to win, so we've got to keep this rolling.
How you have Marcus Chelsea fan up and him out
what far?

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (00:26):
You know Chippy Chips. Yeah, he's my favorite player, but
he has zero aura. He just around looks like he's.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
His attitude is creating an aura.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Yeah. I think I think he's lucky. He's he's good
at football. That's all I'm going to say. I think
I think, don't quit your day job, cold palm, but
I actually love him. Four goals on the weekend, which
we'll touch on. We're here for all things English Premier League,
heading into an exciting Matrek seven before the international break.
I forgot there's another international break reading until yeah you
wrote that in I actually forgot about that. It's very annoying.

(01:02):
We don't like international breaks. It's want Premier League football
all the time.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
I don't want to see the soccer is lose.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Exactly power star or something we always lose anyone low.
Today we're going to cover the top football and EPR news,
our best Betfair back or laid bets, and the also
the Betfair expert tips from Tony Hargres which.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
We went very well.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
We went very well, which will touch on in the
middle of the show. There is trivia no with Olivia
both me. I've taken over today, so it's just pressure on,
some nervous pressures on Mars because he's on his own
this time. And then we'll finish with our quick fire tips.
I like to say quick file. We'll see how quick
they are for EPR Match Week seven. Before we start,
make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel of the
Football Today podcast. Follow all the socials Football Today are

you on TikTok and Football Today Australia on Facebook and Instagram.
All right around the grounds, A lot happened in the
Premier League over the weekend and just football in general.
Some awesome games, awesome goals. What's the first one you
want to touch on here? We talked about to talk
about cor palm. I'm very happy to talk about four goals.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
On cloy Is a freak. I was watching that on
a on a trip away with my mates and yeah,
well I was or couldn't get off the couch fast enough,
especially for that free kick that was on it.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
It was unbelie real.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
It's just he has the ability to score all types
of goals.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Yeah, and he could have had a double, He could
have had five or six in the first half.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
He had two disallowed goals hit the post and four goals.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
Yeah. Should we just changed Chelsea s C to PALMAFC.
There's already a Palmer REFC, a cup culture in Yeah,
that's true, Palmer FC. He's the first player ever to
score four goals in the first half and he had
it in forty minutes, so it was even less than
the first half. That really surprised. That surprised me because
I thought someone might have done it because there's been
a lot of hatches.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Yeah. Well, from the time that he scored his first
to his fourth, he was twenty minutes.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Yeah, that's just that's just Yeah, pretty pretty much scored
him in twenty minutes, which is unbelievable. I was out
after the granny just looking at my phone, just getting notifications.
Coparma goal, Coparma goal goal every five minutes, I'm like, oh, sure,
it's glitching, like he probably just got one of captain
fantasy at least against I had Lewis Diers the week before.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Now called Parma clutched up a bit there. But this
leads me into a debate that I've been hearing in
the Great Gale, particularly in England. Parma, Sakka, Foden.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Oh, here we go, rank them in order of who
you'd want in your team coming right now. I'd honestly
go that order. Foden is injured still. I think he
was on the he was on the beach, on the bench.
I think he's coming back from an injury. Foden I
don't think he can do the things that Farma can do.
I don't know if I'm going to get shot for

(03:35):
saying that, maybe because even I mean looks obviously he
was player of the season.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
He scored from the car park in the final day
of the season.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
He did. But it's probably a bit of recncy biased,
but I think Palmer is literally taking Chelsea. Even I
know Nicholas Jackson has improved and the goal scoring has improved.
If you look at Chelsea's overall team, they haven't played
much together. Palmer is just willing them over one. The
game was four two, so it was Palmer four and two.
It wasn't like anything else. I don't think Soccer and
Foden they probably don't get that opportunity to dominate as much.

(04:06):
But if you put them in a Chelsea team, I
don't think they scored on four goals.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Yeah, like Palmer's doing it in the Chelsea team that
finished tenth, and Soccer and Foden respectively doing a team
of finishing for very very good player.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Yeah, what's your order here? I think right now it's
Parma saka Foden.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
I'm still going. I'm still going Palmer like every time
he just steps on grass. It's elite, even the Euros. Yeah, yeah,
he should have to go in the final. Yeah, starting,
but I'd probably go, yeah, similar order. I don't think
soccer has the moments like Palmer and Podon do, but
he's I feel like soccer is more consistent. Yeah probably,

(04:43):
But Palmer, for me, he's already got like the Manchester
United moments, the four goals and a half, he's got
the motions in eurofinals, Euro finals, He's got the most
goal contributions since the start of twenty twenty three of
Premier League players, which is which is nuts when you're
considering Harlan scoring two goals every since he since he
came to Chelsea, he's had more goal contributions and Harland

(05:05):
and in and he missed out in the first five
six games of the season last season before he even
started for Chelsea, so.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
It would be even for further ed. Anyway, we've talked
enough about him. You've been up in about a weekend about.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
That been whipp cream of him. That's that's for sure.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Interesting way to put that. One city, Manchester City very
rare that you they lose points, but how to draw
a draw for them? It is pretty much feels like
a loss, especially to Newcastle who have been in pretty
average form. So I'm really surprised they did in Newcastle
first game with their rodery and points actually just very true.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
And Newcastle were very good there. But yeah, that is
a bit concerning. And you know when when Arsenal sort
of pick up points dramatically against Leicester, you know that's
that spurs something.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
Well, even Liverpool. I think Liverpool is flying under rail.
I know they've had an easy run in terms of
their fixture, but I'm still leaning towards them being a
chance now this season. I don't know. I don't know
about you.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Know, for sure, I think, yeah, they're definitely well for me,
they'll finish.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Third yep, yeah, I still think they will. But they're
pushing further up the table I thought with the new manager.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
I think they need to play. They need to play
City in Arsenal first. Like, I know, losing home to
Nottingham Forest, Like, do those results when you were a
Premier League title No, I don't really think that's very true.
So I think it's probably a bit too soon for
the Reds.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Yeap not fair. Cool. Let's touch on a bit of
Manchester United. I feel like whenever we've ever done a
podcast together, Manchester Night have just been horrible. I absolutely
love it. What is going on there? Three zero loss
at home to Spurs. So Andrew was up and about hands,
got into the face of the media again every time
they've been winning, he's just been getting into him. But
you do back up ten hard though, yeah, did he? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (06:51):
Saying that like one week it's me and then the
next week it's yeah, it's all anyone's going to be
on the line after a few bad results.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
But I think he's definitely lucky to be there. But
the players aren't helping, like the amount of like I
don't know, effort not I say effort, I don't know
if it's coming out to effort or just I don't know.
I don't think.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
It's how Mickey van Dervenk can just don't run three
quarters to the link of the pitch.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
That was an amazing assist. But the fact that no
one even sort of just stuck a leg out, just
blocked his run or anything like.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
That, Like he's a powerful he's a powerful man. One
of the most powerful musters played speed. But yeah, it's
still concerning these three Old Trafford. Look, there was a
red card, but they were still getting held before they
went down to ten minutes.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
At home, like you got Old Trafford, Like they're played
off the park. Yeah, it's literally falling down their stadium.
And so it was just their actual game play like
that really just gone wrong.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
It's the favorite thing I love to do now is
hate watch Manchester United and just watch them get on.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
The best is Mark Goldbridge for people who watches ye
watching it with Leo social guy Lea yesterday some of
the clips of him. He does live watchings of of
Man United. He just goes off. He's like, what the
bloody he just goes Absolutely are they now at the moment?

Speaker 2 (08:05):
Thirteenth thirteenth so really bad?

Speaker 1 (08:08):
Probably where they deserve to be the way they're playing
it the moment.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Actually, I've got a stat few stats, go, oh, there
we go. In their last fifteen Premier League games, Everton
have more points than Manchester United.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
Really, fifteen last fifteen Premier League games, Everton have twenty
one points. Manchester United have nine. Toees fans are like that. Yeah,
they actually finished the season pretty well after they got
the points taken off of Everton. Everton and weirdly enough,
I know they're conceiving lots of goals, but there haven't
been that bad obviously. One on the weekend finally finally
got a big win over around Crystal Palace. Yep, yeah, no,

(08:41):
no good from man You all right? More positive now?
Quality goals from the weekend there was. The quality of
goals were just unbelievable. Every game over the weekend had
an absolute banger. One from outside the box, a first
time finish, I wrote down in Buemo, So you've got
three games that are on now. Branford have scored in
the first minute as Premier League team. To ever do that,
youve got Palmers free kick, you could put a few

(09:03):
Parmers one. You got Dwight McNeil just turning into him.
They call him Liverpool messy or something because he's a
left foot evertony and messy. I think they called him.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
Yeah, he's a yeah he is, he's a he's an
old former Burnley guy.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
Yeah. James Justin was awesome the first time finished to
lap the step over. That was pretty average defending, but
it was it was nice. And then what was your
maybe your favorite over my favorite because that's spiced.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
My favorite would would be James Justin first.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
First time the cross came in from into.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
The like post side nedding. Yeah, that was clean to
do it. At the Emirates he's called embraced. Didn't as
well he did? Yeah, shame that they couldn't hold on for.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Let's made a bit up and down.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
You remember, like remember there was a Goal of the
week like a decade ago and the quality of the
goals was ridiculous. It had like Michael Essiens.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
Yes there was was there a Newcastle one in there.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
I think there was a newcast. It might have been a.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
What I was thinking.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
Yeah, yeah that was Yeah, that's ridiculous, like shades of
that this week.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
Yeah, it's gonna be tough to pick the goal. I
think it's either Palmer or yeah, James justin yea for
those those ones. I've been leading towards Jamesons and that
first time.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
Is so hard, so hard to do. Yeah, all right, that's.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
Premier League around the grounds. But let's have a look
at maybe a soccer players rising star that you you
love talking.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
About Nesta ra and Kunda. Yeah, he's training with the
Bayern Munich.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
First score, he's been killed in these seconds.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
Yeah, ahead of the Champions League game against Aston Villa.
I assume you won't start, depending how the game goes,
maybe if they get a bit of a lead, but
that would be good to see if he gets a game.
And also Marcus Eunice, who recently got to move to
pears Ay, scored an absolute balto on his debut and

(10:50):
goodnessist so on him. Jacob Farrell also made the match
in port in his debut with Portsmouth And so.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
What's annoying me the soccer is have all this good
young talent. They might not be all playing yet, but
the talent on this on the soccer team is so
strong at the moment, but they're just not getting any results.
So it's really frustrating as an AUSSI two of.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
Those can't even get into the squad. No conferrial Marcus h.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
That's how good the squad is awesome because you go
a lot of guys playing in Scotland, England, in I'm
trying to think of the other places, but yeah, all
over the world, in the Netherlands and things like that.
We just can't get a win over these teams that
I ranked outside the hundred and the one hundred of
fever rankings.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
So yeah, it was it was Indonesia and Bahrain last time.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
The powerhouses of Indonesia. Yeah, I mean, look footballuses respect
to them, they're no good. Lastly for around the grounds
champions legue this morning, just quickly touching on the first
match of this week. First match they of this week,
Arsenal man City got some wins. I think two nil
four Arsenal and four nil for Man City. I love
how Pep I think joked around saying they're not going
to play a full strength squad and then he just
he just did anyway again. Yeah four Nils Bruttislava, great name,

(12:00):
but they're not amazing team. Yeah, very nice. And then
Arsenal've got a too winner for PHG so they'd be
very happy with that. Just randomly. I I've always loved
watching Celtic, my beloved Celtic FC. But we got embarrassed
by that bring back and there seven to one. You
can't lose to anyone seven one, I was saying to

(12:21):
Marcus before my brother was watching this message me. At
one we got back to one. Oh, let's go Celtic.
That's like one hundred and fifty points in he scored
a goal at least, that's like everyone in your AFL
team has scored a goal, which my junior team did once,
which is wow, which is brutal. But yeah, Dorman just

(12:41):
absolutely yeah, absolutely so no good for Celtic, but yeah
Arsenal Man City got the job done on the weekend
and in the Champions League. All right, let's get into it.
Our favorite part of the show, our back old lay
bets thanks to Betfair, the only place to back and
lay bet on the EPL this season. Match Week seven,
How do we go, guys, Actually sorry, let's go back
to match week six. Five of six on the tips

(13:02):
last week, so we were two from two the four
of Tony's we put in with three or four. He
dominated in the rest on the Betfair hub, so check
that out at betfair dot com.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
Are you The only one that didn't get up was
Liverpool Wolves. He had both teams not to score and
both teams.

Speaker 1 (13:17):
Yeah, that was a surprising one because Liverpool's defense has
been unbelievable. The Wolves have been very average, so that
was a bit of a surprise. But yeah, also meffort
by the expert from Betfair, Tony Hargreaves. And then we'll
get on our tips.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
We're on six from six, going on six from six
this week.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
All right, we'll start with as always, we start with
Tony Hargreaves, the Betfair expert tips. We'll start with he's
got three backs in one to lay, so he wants
to back aston Villa at two dollars thirty for aston
Villa first Manchester United. Now Villa haven't been like they
actually haven't been that good. They haven't been that good.
They drew to inswitch Town on the weekend, but then
you've got a big jump down the table to Manchester United.

(13:53):
Tony says here this is not my words, but I
honestly might agree with him. If man you lose this game,
they'll be looking for a new manager. He's saying. Ten
hag is out if they lose this game to Villa.
They're thirteenth and just have five goals in their six
games this season. Do you reckon that's hush out after
this game?

Speaker 2 (14:11):
No, I don't think it's harsh. When wival fans say
that we want ten Harks to stay because they're just
they're so bad, that's when there's a sign.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
And I think.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
I think I read somewhere or heard somewhere that they
play Porto on Friday in the Europa League and then
this game, and I think those two games might decide
his future. So I think two bad results and he
could be gone. Like I wouldn't be surprised if it's
in the next couple of games. But I feel like
this is this is not an easy one. Villa at
home it's harsh. It's a very hard place to go.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
The last couple of seasons, obviously in the Champions League
for a reason, dominated at home last season, but yeah,
they just don't look very good at all. I think
if they get smashed, he'll definitely be gone. But yeah,
we've got Tony's backing back on that. Yeah that at
two dollars thirty on Betfair. United have lost ten of
their last thirty and away matches, so that's a real worry. Sorry,
thirty and away matches against top six teams, So that's
that's the little stat there. And Villa have scored three

(15:06):
plus goals in four of their last six home games,
so they Ollie Watkins like Phillip Park's different, Hilla Park's rocking.
Olie Watkins just gets to go on assist every time
he rocks up.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
At Villa Parksvin Rodgers has been very good, has.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
Been really good and Nanna, as we touched on earlier
this season, there's been awesome. They yeah, they did get that.
They played really bad. I watched that ipswitch Verst Villa
game on the weekend, but I switched there down. Their
fans were pumping like there. I was like putting on
my buck of list Dortmund. I want to go to
the other Wall Celtic Park. I was like, yeah, take
that off, switch down, don't want to go there.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
I was tempted to actually put that in the around
the ground segment.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
And it's different to like athletic over the over seas
where they're throwing things at the players. There was nothing
like water or anything. That was just chances for their team.
That was bad as well. We shoul didn't touch on
all right?

Speaker 2 (15:53):
The other one?

Speaker 1 (15:55):
What was that? Take the things around the back of
his head?

Speaker 2 (15:58):
Screwing?

Speaker 1 (15:59):
I don't know next time that tourney's backing is back
Tottenham at two dollars forty for Brighton versus Tottenham. Now
a lot of people go, well, this is a tough
one because Brian at the MX are pretty solid, but
he's gone here. The last week's first half performance from
Tottenham was their best of the season by far. Like
everyone was saying, how well they played against Manu. Obviously
man you aren't going well. But again the passing, the
confidence that Tottenham played with last week was awesome.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
They played really well. Does that mean Ches snided just
being horrendous again?

Speaker 1 (16:26):
Sort of? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (16:26):
I think Brighton more well settled team, but then again
like scored against them because they come out and play
football against you.

Speaker 1 (16:36):
They don't you know, sit back yep. So I think
this will be one of the best games of the weekend. Yeah,
I think this would be a really really good game.
Spurs have won three of the last four meetings and
the other thing that Tony points out is that there's
been no draws in the last ten meetings, so he's
he's confident that one of the team is going to win,
so he's leaning towards Tottenham. You've got Chelsea scored four
goals against him on the weekend, but then you've got
Tottenham who have Selanky inform, Brendan Johnson in form. He's

(16:58):
got four and four four and four Selanky sorry Judson Johnson,
he's been really good, really pasty on the wing there,
and then you've got Van Devener just tearing it up.
So I think Tottenamber the more confident team going into
this one, and you get a bit of value there
at two forty on be well.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
For if you're looking to lay the drawer in that game. Yeah,
oh yeah, as Tony mentioned, that hasn't been a draw
in the last ten YEA four dollars twenty currently.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
Don't mind that one as well. Very nice next one, actually,
you want to go through the next two Tony's ones.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
Yep, he's backing both teams to score in Manchester City
versus Fulham, so at two dollars, so a little bit
more value here, good.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
Value because back in man City, just against anyone who's
knoing usually ye.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
Fulham have been really great to start the season. They've
had three wins, two draws and only the one loss
under Marco Silver.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
And then he's necessarily have been the most impressive. I
think of that mid table sort of teams you know
City are capable of, like leaking a goal.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
Oh yeah, yeah Rodrey obviously without Rodriy that's a that's
a big out day.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
And there's that lack of midfield present. I think they
put Rika Lewis in there, but he's not a natural
like sort of CDM. He wants to play more on
the wing.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
Yeah yeah, I feel like he's a good replacement, but
he's no win need the level of Rodger yet. He
can be one a really good player, but not yet.
And as we saw home against Sipswich, they considered a
goal notoriously over the years. They can see to Brentford
at home.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
They've considered in every game but one this season, which
is very rare for City. They usually have a lot
of clean sheets, so I think they're playing pretty attacking
as well, so that on the counter attack day, yeah,
you can't get them in full of being scoring.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
And there's definitely there's definitely goals in this There's been
twenty one goals across the last six meetings, eighteen of
those going to City.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
Eighteen three in the last six meetings towards City. But
Fulham are a lot better than there were past meetings.
Like their team is really it's like Robinson, the American Robinsonson.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
It's a trend.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
No, it's Anthony, Yeah, I think it is. Yeah, he's awesome.
They've just got a really good team, which I'm really
surprised about him for fun to watch. So both hims
to score there as Tony's one there he laying in
this one and.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
He's laybed for this week. He's going to lay west
Ham at a dollar ninety at home against Ipswich. So
he's hoping for an ipswitch result or a draw.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
That is a big call, which I don't mind.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
I don't mind Hammers. They only have one win, two
draws and three losses to start the season.

Speaker 1 (19:15):
They've been up there other than Manchester United as my
most disappointing team. I think their team even the end
of the last season showed a bit. Sorry, start of
last season showed a bit. They have a really good list.
They brought in some really good players. They've got what
they got Award proows, you've got Forest Forest. They also
got full ku Bowen, like some players that would fit

(19:37):
into so many Premier League teams.

Speaker 2 (19:39):
I think we had them around probably eight.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
Yeah, eight, I mean horror pushing you yeah, and they've
been absolutely at stars.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
They are currently fourteenth below.

Speaker 1 (19:50):
Yeah, exactly, So I think those two are the two
most disappointing teams.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
And Ipswich have draws. They've they've actually been well against
the biggert side so far. They've drawled against Bill Broughton
and Fulham, who at the moment you'd say are all
better than west Ham currently.

Speaker 1 (20:05):
But at the start of the season I would have
been saying, oh, west Ham can probably be better than
Brighton and Fulam, but they've been miles better than west Ham,
so the fact that they're getting too. The most impressive
was on the weekend a too old jorder villa where
you know how many goals they can score the attack
and their defense hasn't been too bad in the last
couple of seasons. That's an awesome draft issues down and
that really surprised me. A fantastic results. I hope they
stay out. I hope they stay Yeah. I agree, they're

(20:27):
fine and their fans are really fun.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
Right now, they're fifteenth, so let's hope they finish around there.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely, all right. That's Tony Hargreave's Betfair expert tips,
so check that out on betfair dot Com, tod in
the Betfair Hub. Let's get it down ones where sometimes
up and down, but last week, well two from two yep,
what's your back? O? Lay?

Speaker 2 (20:44):
I reckon, we're going to go two from two again?

Speaker 1 (20:45):
All right? Yeah, always, I'm going.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
To lay Leicester City at three dollars fifty against Bournemouth. Leicester,
I don't mind at home against Bournemouth. Look, Leicester they
haven't been great. They're seventeenth, they've got three points on
the board, but it's more, it's not more. Lesser have
been bad. They were alright against Arsenal, but I just

(21:07):
think Bournemouth. There's something about Bournemouth. They're so well drilled. Yeah,
the good they're getting good results that they're not really
conceding in the scoring a lot of goals. Their new
striker Evan Nielsen just found the back of the net
so he can start to hit his stride and out
on the wings. It's just so much, so much pace
there with some meno.

Speaker 1 (21:27):
Scoring every second game as well. He's been awesome.

Speaker 2 (21:30):
So I like laying lesser of three dollars fifty Yeah, yeah,
I think I don't mind that because you get a
bit of value there.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
But you could even back Bournemouth in this one. I
know it's a bit risky because you just haven't been
too bad. What do they do you have that I
can have a quick look. So we got Bournemouth. You
can back them for two dollars twenty six as well,
which isn't which isn't too bad. But you get a
bit more value if you're laying lesser, and then you
get get the drawer as well. So I really like
that bet there. All right? My one for my back
on LA tips. I'm backing both teams to score in

(21:56):
Brentford versus Wolves. Some people would go, oh, there's pretty
average teams involved in this one. But Brendford haven't been
too bad. The last three times they've met at Gtech
Community Stadium, which is in Brentford, both teams have scored
and then Bredford have scored in every single league game
this season and Wolves have scored in all but one.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
And surprising Yeah yeah, so the.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
Last three games, as I mentioned before, they've scored in
the first twenty seconds, twenty three seconds, thirty three seconds.
So Brentford, you're just locking in an early goal at
the moment, doing Brian.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
And Burmo goal before the first minute.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
You can't bet on that, Like I've seen that in
the things don't better on that, but like Camber responsible,
responsible of course, but they've literally done that before the
first minute in the last three games. They attack literally
as we mentioned the from the get go, so I
think in early Brentford goal. But Wolves have scored two
goals like a goal against Yeah, every team except for Arsenal,
So they're being on a right as well.

Speaker 2 (22:49):
Yeah, and that includes teams like Chelsea, Liverpool most recently
and ends saying with Brentford, Tottenham City West Ham.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
Yeah. Although the result here could go either way, just
because Brentford at times is getting way too attacking, I
still think that might win this like three to one.
I think both them to score at a dollar seventy
nine is just an absolute lock for for this game.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
Yeah, yeah, I agree?

Speaker 1 (23:09):
All right? All right, that's our back o lay tips. Yeah,
brought to you by Betfair and thanks to Tony Hargreve's
to Betfair Expert Tips, the only place to back and
lay bet on the EPR this season. Let's get into
a bit of trivia. Olivia isn't here, so it doesn't
rhyme as well, but I've got some trivia questions for you, Marcus.
I feel like you're a bit nervous. I am. I
reckon you could get both of these. I don't know
if I've niced you or not. I don't know, but

(23:31):
you're going to make me look like an absolute mug na.
They're not one of them's I think obvious, and one
of them is not. But okay, we'll see. I reckon
you could get both of these. Are you ready?

Speaker 2 (23:39):
Yeah? All right, I'm nervous.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
The fastest goal in EPR history came in seven point
six nine seconds. Who scored it?

Speaker 2 (23:46):
Shane Long?

Speaker 1 (23:47):
Oh you got a straight eye. I didn't even know
that I knew that it was for Southamptons. Yeah what
you actually? Extra question, what year was?

Speaker 2 (23:55):
I'm going to go two thousand and you got that
part right, Oh, this is tough. I'm going to go
two thousand and seventeen eighteen. Well, but then I'm going
to follow up.

Speaker 1 (24:11):
Okay, I think you know. This one the fastest Hatrick
Hatrick scored in the apl at two minutes and fifty
six seconds, which still blows my mind. And I could
watch those highlights all day. Was called by who was
also a South End study of Mina Sada. Very nice.
Extra little question, what year is that? This one surprised me.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
Of the year, I don't know whodun Dyke was playing
in that team.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
Well, aime, that Southampton team had some absolute balls. Yeah,
I'm going to go I'm going to go I think
that was that was earlier than twenty eighteen. I'm going
to go sixteen fifteen. But you got both my questions.
I thought you would get the studio mine one because
everyone watches those hoists forget the shame long one. Well
and Southampton have both those records, the quickest records, so

(24:55):
they got slime to fame. They got something at least,
and they're also probably going to get the lowest points
total season, so there's another recll. Yeah, there we go.
They just love records. I'm sure they won't want to
talk about that one. But then talking about the fastest goals,
there we go. I didn't think. I didn't think you
would get the shame longer.

Speaker 2 (25:11):
Passed Befollings.

Speaker 1 (25:12):
Yeah, he definitely did. My teachers would be proud. Definitely, definitely. Yeah,
those are when you studied EPR.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
Marcus spends too too much time watching soccer Hall.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
It's in class exactly. That's what I got. I got
told stuff like that's never on a podcast, So there
you go. Stuff stuff there. All right, Matric seven predictions
for the EPR. Let's get rid of that trivia. You
did very well though. Matric seven predictions. I'll start with it.
Krystal Palace versus Liverpool. Is this an obvious one?

Speaker 2 (25:35):
Yeah, it's just Liverpool for me. Defensively, they've been too
stable and they just falld a way to score one
or two goals and just get over one.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
Yeah. Palace just lost to Everton. That's been embarrassing. So
we've got to go. I thought that was going to
be all right because you've got Marteta, you've got yeah,
a I thought they'd have a good enough attack to.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
Score more goals currently in the relegation zone.

Speaker 1 (25:53):
Really that surprised me. All right, next one Arsenal vers Southampton.
Are they going to score the fastest evera hatrick? Again?

Speaker 2 (26:00):
No, not to have a shot on guy Arsenal for this,
I think they need to make a statement because I
thought they were going to make the statement against Leicester
like a four nil win too too until stopp each
time and luckily my my mate on on the weekend
again but responsibly did a multi and his last leg
I needed to win was Arsenal to win. He was sweating.

(26:22):
But yeah, they just got over line. So I think
they would look to make a statement.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
Yeah, I think it'll be three or four Nils Southdampton
are just very average. Ye. Brentford versus Wolves a really
really tough one. I'm going Brentford. I feel like you
don't mind a drawing these type of matchups that Wolves. Okay, yeah, yeah,
I think Wolves can can nick a result. Okay, I
don't know. I'm still not sold on Brentford just yet. Yeah. Yeah,
you're a Brenford ado from last season as well. Yeah,

(26:47):
I mean, the actually list isn't as good without Well backed.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
Him to get relegate last year with a few like
they finished like sixteenth fourteenth sixteen.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
Yeah, you're a bang on almost last year. Next one
Lester versus Bournemouth there's a tough one as well, but well,
I'm like, so I'm going to Backbourne with back Bournemouth.
I think our Backbournemouth as well. I think they're playing
really well, really quick on the wings. Manchester City versus Fulham.
For some reason, my head is telling me to back
and draw draw. Yeah, and I stuff and I'm going
to say draw. I got no idea why. I think

(27:15):
I really like our former playing It would probably be
the biggest result Forum has had in about ten years.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
I'm the cow and I'm gone city.

Speaker 1 (27:21):
Yeah, yeah, that's just smart probably. Yeah, I'm just going
to back it draw. I just feel like Fulham can
take it up to him, Like two draws in the
row of City would be wilde as well. Next one
at west Ham versus Ipswich Town, I'm going Ipswich. They
played so well maybe a ways between I'm going to
go draw, draw. I don't mind that. I think that's
the smart player. Yeah, I know it's away from home,
but they just played so well. The lap looks so

(27:42):
good that their defense actually looked pretty strong, even though
it was too tall. But the only thing I'm worried
about is out wide when when Kudus he's been some
of ill yep attack them from the wings. There's two
other good names at west Ham and they're strobably been crappy.
Like what is going on? Next one Everton versus Newcastle

(28:03):
draw Everton? They had their win. I reckon, they've been party.
I had to win. So Newcast are going to win
this week? Next one Aston Villa Verst Manchester United Aston Villa,
Aston Villa. I don't see in order getting a result.
I reckon they might get a goal like a three
to one, but Hard could be gone. This is this

(28:25):
is going to be this is embarrassing. I'm just having
a look here. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
Then they have Brentford. They have a relatively.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
It's not even easy, no, not for their standards. Yeah yeah,
so after that maybe the next month he might be gone.
They play jose A Butcher a couple of weeks against
Fred and there's another Manchester United player I.

Speaker 2 (28:46):
Know, Michie basha Wa used to play the family with Chelsea.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
Yeah yeah, so yeah, Fred freends there, which is funny
because Manchester United would land into Fred. And now if
he was in the team, he is probably going to
be one of their best players. That's pretty funny that
they have to play them. We'll have to act.

Speaker 2 (29:00):
Look at Marino gets a result, that's hilarious. Did you
see Marna's latest antics? No, he always has antics in
the Turkish League a result, a var result didn't go
their way or a referee decision didn't go their way.
He grabbed his laptop. Oh, I did see that the
replay of the the goal of the goal in front
of the cameras on the big screen, so everyone see

(29:20):
the referee.

Speaker 1 (29:21):
He got fined and yellow and he probably got a
massive five forever. But that's so funny, and it looked
like you were just watching the replay. It was so
good that laptop.

Speaker 2 (29:29):
It's like trying to watch a stream on YouTube.

Speaker 1 (29:34):
He's so funny. Honestly, he should have gotten paid for
I want to see you back in the Premier League. Yeah,
but man you no, no again again it didn't work well.
I reckon you could bring him into a lower table club,
but just would you do that. I don't think you
would bring him in like Notts or something that'd be cool.
I like that talking about Knots Chelsea verse Knots got
back Chelsea. Oh yeah, looking great, consistent the Blues have

(29:58):
been in three years. I reckon.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
I've seen a lot of people and say Chelsea in
the title race. Yeah, that was a question was going
to post to you. I absolutely believe.

Speaker 1 (30:08):
No, No, there's only two, possibly three teams in the title.
Let's go Chelsea top four, top four. Who let's have
a quick look Liverpool City, Arsenal Chelsea. Yeah, Liverpool's City
Arsenal absolutely lock for top three and.

Speaker 2 (30:24):
Then there's probably Chelsea Villa to Tottenham and Newcastle.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
Yeah a moment, Chelsea are playing better than everyone by them.
That's like, I know that's obviously say on the table.

Speaker 2 (30:35):
But I think teams are starting to worry about Chelsea.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
I might say Chelsea fifth, but pushing for fourth, which
is a lot better than what we thought Chelsea would
last game, We'll finish off with Brighton verse Tottenham. This
is another tricky one I have back.

Speaker 2 (30:50):
Yeah, like we said, probably game of the weekend.

Speaker 1 (30:53):
Yeah, I think it will be game of the week.

Speaker 2 (30:55):
Brighton.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
Tottenham Brighton have a lot of fun goalscorers. Actually that's
a random mine. Evan Ferguson obviously coming off the bench
and not getting many minutes. It's got a hat trick
last season. Then he just fell off. I know he's
very young. He had an injury. Yeah, so I'm hoping
that he gets back into it a bit more. But yeah, yeah,
But as I said before, I agree with Tony. I
think Tottenham is going to get a win. He used
the confidence from last week. I'm going to go draw.

(31:19):
I think I think there's gonna be goals on off.
I'm thinking like at too too. Yep, yeah, yeah, nice,
all right, that's how I say quick fire. But that
was our tips for match week seven of the EPL.
That's the final whistle as well. For the Football Today podcast,
